It's a fact: Mid-Atlantic Seafood can be easily overlooked for non-seafood options, ie where else in the area - or anywhere close ie New Carrolton, Landover Hills, Lanham, Seabrook, Glendale and Greenbelt - can you find at least 8 types of cake slices, 6 cheesecake flavors and 6 pies? The answer is nowhere unless you are at a grocery store or a bakery. I'll go over the types of desserts later. Any entree that comes with sides will give you 30 choices. Which of the 30 sides will you choose?! With so many dining options to choose from, do yourself a favor: flip-thru all of the menu options at the tiny menu monitor to the left of the dessert case before deciding what to eat because out of the 9 gigantic, rotating monitor menus, I didn't as easily see half of what they actually offer. Just go to the small monitor and read about all of the appetizers, salads, entrees and deserts efficiently. Alternatively, visit https://mid-atlanticseafood.com/new-carrollton/ on your phone. Seriously: aside from all of the seafood on the large monitors, you can get turkey, homemade meatloaf, barbecue chicken and ribs. As for the 30 sides to choose from, some are macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and French fries. We loved the mac-n-cheese. And the cheesy potatoes look overly rich but they are not. Really enjoyed those, too. These are classic potatoes au gratin with a bit of extra cheese and a lot of flavor. They also serve diverse varieties of other sides, including lo mein, white rice and cornbread. Not to mention the grilled vegetables, green beans, cheesy broccoli, corn and other options on the massive and never-ending steam table. On the 9 main video screens, you can get more than 7 kinds of fish and choose if you want it fried, baked or grilled. We wanted ours' baked. The waiter recommended to have it grilled because it would take less time and be more tender. We didn't listen to his advice, but he was right. Our baked fish was ok but we would love to come back and taste it grilled. The variety of fish offered is impressive, from ocean perch to salmon to tilapia to flounder to grouper to mahi mahi to whiting. You can also order crabs, snow crab legs and shrimp. Also want to try the stuffed shrimp here. When it says, "stuffed," that means with crabmeat. They have a garlic butter seafood boil here with crab legs, spiced shrimp, andouille chicken sausage, corn, etc. Meow. The chicken comes 4 ways: barbecued, fried or baked and as chicken wings. They have 3 types of pork chops: grilled, fried and smothered with gravy. Their entrees come with a choice of white bread, wheat bread, a potato roll or a slice of cornbread for an upcharge of $1.00. I didn't taste the cornbread on this visit but I'd like to, next time. One team member passionately said it was really good. We tried the mango slaw and it was good but not sweet. I heard the regular cole slaw is even better, so I would like to try that because I'm guessing it's as good as all the rest of their food we tried. I would also like to try the crab fried deviled eggs and the Cajun steamed mussels. Not to mention a lot of other dishes there! And now back to the cakes. They have so many desserts to choose from. I mean: multiple flavors of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, etc. They even have Smith Island cakes, which are a thinly-layered and stacked legendary Chesapeake Bay tradition. I want to begin by saying that I am a loyal Panera customer. I use the Panera app regularly and order from Panera frequently. This was my first time visiting the Bowie Town Center location, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. I placed my order through the Panera app, as I normally do, and purchased two sandwiches for approximately $24. After picking up my order and taking only a couple of bites of my sandwich, I realized it had been made incorrectly because the tomatoes were missing. Since we had not yet left the shopping center, I returned to the restaurant to have the sandwich corrected. I politely explained to the employee at the front counter that my sandwich had been made without tomatoes. She suggested that she simply give me a few tomato slices, but I explained that I would prefer the sandwich be remade correctly with the ingredients I had paid for. At that point, the interaction became very unprofessional. The employee took my bag with an obvious attitude, dropped it on the counter, rolled her eyes at a coworker, and walked away without saying anything further. When I asked if my sandwich was being remade, she replied "yes," asked another employee to make it, and then walked away without even telling the kitchen staff which sandwich needed to be remade. Because of this lack of communication, I had to walk over to the food preparation area myself and ask who was making my sandwich to ensure the correct order was being prepared. I then requested to speak with the supervisor. After waiting several minutes, the supervisor came out but appeared more concerned with speaking to the employee than addressing my concerns. His demeanor made me feel as though my complaint was an inconvenience rather than a legitimate customer concern. I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, nor did I receive the level of customer service I have come to expect from Panera. I understand that mistakes happen. My concern is not that tomatoes were forgotten. My concern is how I was treated after politely asking for my order to be corrected. As a paying customer, I should not have been met with attitude, dismissiveness, or disrespect for requesting that my food be prepared as ordered. Because I visit Panera so often, this experience was especially disappointing. I have always enjoyed your food and service at other locations, which is why this interaction at the Bowie Town Center restaurant stood out so negatively. I sincerely hope this feedback is shared with the management team so that additional customer service training can be provided. Whether you're getting a sandwich, salad, or pizza, it doesn't feel like typical fast casual food. It's a step above that, but still quick and convenient. I've had the turkey avocado sandwich and the green goddess salad, both solid choices. My daughter usually goes for the pizza and enjoys it every time. We come here every once in a while, and the consistency is there. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. It's clean, not too loud, and works whether you're eating in or just stopping by to grab something and go. Service is solid. You order, things come out pretty quick, and the staff is friendly without overdoing it. One thing I will say is Newk's is one of the cleaner eating options in the area. If you're trying to be a little more mindful about what you're eating but still want something convenient, this is a good move. Overall, it's reliable. Fresh food, good options, and easy to work into your routine. Definitely somewhere I keep in rotation.

This is a new Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken carryout and quaint counter-service diner - with around 6…read moreto 8 tables so far - with delicious seasonings and much on the menu, including seafood, angus burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches and cheesesteak subs. This restaurant is also halal. They just opened a few days ago with a full menu offering including tilapia, grilled salmon, red snapper, grilled shrimp and catfish. The fish entrees can be grilled or fried with your choice of seasonings: lemon pepper, Cajun, garlic, Old Bay or plain. The chicken and the fish are spectacular here. Definitely get the fish tacos! Lovely. Choose your fish and whether you want it grilled or fried. I chose fried tilapia. Choose your toppings: I got lettuce and salsa. Also ask for a bit of coleslaw on top. And then add the yellow sauce. So delicious. I also very much enjoyed the grilled tilapia with Old Bay. It was served healthy and clean vs. liquidy and juicy so I added the yellow pepper sauce for pure divinity. I also might recommend requesting a little drawn butter on top if they can do it and you like that sort of Maryland-style texture. Seriously, very good price points and value. You can also choose your sides with the fish and I enjoyed their delicious coleslaw with fries. I'm picky about cole slaws and this version has a nice slightly garlicky - very mild but just enough to be regionally unique - flavor. And the yellow sauce is so good with the fries, as well as ketchup. I also ordered a side of white rice which is delightful here. They cook it properly so that it is perfect rice-cooker clumpy vs. smooth and falling through your fork. They season it with just the right amount of cilantro and spices so that you could enjoy eating it plain. I always need butter or soy sauce but with their rice, I don't! There menu is ever-evolving but they also offer New York Strip Steak, a lamb chop entree (which they say is popular at their other locations), burritos, bowls, quesadillas, nachos and fajitas. And the menu includes 5 kinds of smoothies and 4 kinds of milkshakes. I had a quarter chicken meal with yucca fries and rice and beans and it was lovely. You'll see the large rotisserie chicken roaster slowly cooking all of the chickens while they cut yours' right in front of you, Peruvian-style. You will also get the mild yellow sauce that I mentioned earlier and green hot sauce which is traditional. That Peruvian Aji Amarillo (yellow) sauce is only 25 cents extra for more and the salsa verde is hot and flavourful. You can choose from your sides: yucca, cole slaw, fried rice, white rice, French fried, plantains, rice and beans, pinto beans or black beans. I also tried the cheesesteak. The 12-foot sub with its fillings is good. The sliced beef is seasoned. The amount of provolone cheese is generous and tasty. I added the spicy green sauce they give you for an alternative take but they do have jalapeños. Didn't ask about red hots. I asked if they could toast the sub roll, next time, and he kindly said yes. The quesadillas are massive and delicious. If you get steak added, ask them to slice it smaller maybe unless you prefer big pieces, which might be harder to chew while eating finger food versus using a steak knife. I love their 2-layer lemon cake! It's very tasty, moist and fresh. Do not miss the tres leches! The tres leches cake here is actually the best one I've ever had because it's more sweet and tasty. I only wished they served coffee with it but since they just opened, they are looking at what will sell best in this area before expanding the menu and beverages. (They do serve coffee at one of their other locations, so let's see if more locals around here ask for it since it's not a typical Peruvian restaurant offering.) I think many people are going to want to start eating here more because their food is that good. It would be nice if they could put more tables outside in front of the restaurant but I haven't seen others do that in this shopping center. On a side note, I'm a decades-long fan of the original Peruvian chicken restaurant in the NoVA area known as El Pollo Rico but there is only one in Wheaton. Years later, there are many other Peruvian Chicken restaurant spin-offs in the region near this location but none have come quite as close to Peruvian Charcoal Chicken & Grill in terms of flavor and seasonings. Sure there are some other local restaurants with Peruvian chicken and more seating, but I most enjoy the flavours of the rotisserie chicken at this expanding chain.
