I've had the pleasure of eating at Mezcal Grill many times over the years, both dining in and taking out, including at their Broadway location. The service and food quality have always been excellent. They have a huge menu, a friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels a step above a typical taqueria or fast casual spot, with solid table service to match. It's about time I gave them the credit they deserve because their food is consistently great. Historically, I've loved their enchilada plate, especially the mole enchilada. It's one of my favorites. Today, with the sun out, I was in more of a mariscos mood, so I ordered the shrimp ceviche and the fried tilapia plate. The ceviche is very bright and fresh, with mango mixed in, which adds a really nice layer of flavor to the traditional combination. It comes with freshly fried tostadas that are crisp and flavorful. I'm not personally a fan of the white crackers on the side, but they also bring complimentary chips and salsa, so once the tostadas run out you can use the tortilla chips instead, which works just fine. The tilapia was excellent. It's hard to go wrong with a well fried tilapia, and they do it right. The guacamole and pico on the side are great for building tacos, and the beans and rice are both perfect. You really can't go wrong coming here, especially with the variety they offer. Sitting outside on the patio is nice, though this particular location can feel a bit sketchy at times since a few odd characters often cut through the parking. It's mostly fine, but if you're looking for a more relaxed patio vibe, the other location might be a better option. That said, this spot also has a comfortable indoor dining area. read more

We chose to go here due to the great reviews on Yelp, and as usual the Yelp reviews were accurate. We were quickly seated and chips, salsa and water were on the table so fast. The chips are good, but nothing particularly special. The staff was friendly, as were the other diners who offered unsolicited suggestions of their favorites, one of which my mom chose to get! We ordered a shrimp burrito, a mahi-mahi burrito, and the mole enchiladas. All three were excellent, and the portions (especially the burritos) were large. We stopped by Mezcal Grill in South Natomas for dinner and really enjoyed our meal! My husband had the Carnitas, which had great flavor, though he wished they were a bit crispier -- they tasted more like they'd been slow-cooked all day. My daughter had a bean and cheese burrito and absolutely loved it, and we ordered micheladas that were perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Per usual amazing service as always! We had friends visiting from Pennsylvania and last month all they asked was to please go eat some good mexican food. Immediately I told my husband let them know we will go to Mezcal. It's always packed here and you can't tell by the service. I let them know how much I love the chili relleno and one ordered it. The other ordered beef tacos rice and beans. I'm always getting the shrimp which is filled with great flavor perfect spice! I could take that sauce with beans and rice and have a great burrito from it. We ordered the chimichanga. Which hubby says was delicious. The guacamole Here is always amazing. The salsas and chips are great. I love all the open windows in the restaurant. We were able to catch up and have a great time. The chorizo queso is a must try. I work near this establishment and this has been my go to lunch spot. I order a Torta de Asada with fries, and it always hits the spot. Mezcal's quality of food is really high in my standard, and if I want to impress people with a spot, I bring them here. The service is amicable and very fast. There are lots of great spots to sit indoor and outdoor. The parking around it sucks, but there's nothing they can do about that. Food price is good, service is good, and ambiance is good. The last time I went there, I tried their new nopal taco plate. It was really good. I was so impressed. It's cactus instead of tortilla with some beans and the meat of your choice. Mezcal Grill is hands down the best Mexican food spot in Natomas. My family and I visited during the day and had an incredible experience with delicious food, fast service, and of course, a fantastic margarita. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. We were seated right away, and within a minute, we were served waters along with complimentary chips and salsa. Our server was incredibly sweet and patient--especially with our energetic 2-year-old--and she was quick to take our order as soon as we were ready. The service was impressively fast, and before we knew it, our food had arrived. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled with their menu options. I ordered the quesadilla plate with Impossible meat, which was a pleasant surprise since it's rare to find meat substitutes at Mexican restaurants. The portion was generous, served with rice, beans, and guacamole. It was perfect for sharing--my son happily enjoyed the rice and beans while I devoured the quesadilla. Great find! Reasonably priced cocktails (I liked the $9 Chamoy'ita with a splash of Starry). My tostaditas were incredibly filling with generous helpings of chicken mole on top. Topped with avocado, they were very tasty. The guacamole wasn't all that flavorful but tasted fresh. We added some salt and hot sauce to spice it up a bit. Our servers were attentive and the ambiance was spot on...subdued lighting with some pretty accent lights, very clean and a TV to watch the game but with the volume down low so interested folks could watch without it interfering with others' conversations. I lived in Natomas for most of my life and I have never visited this Mezcal Grill location - we usually go to the one closer to East Sacramento. We came in on a Friday at 8pm and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. There was inside and patio seating and everything felt clean and modern. We ordered the Soft Flour Ground Beef Tacos and Crispy Chili Verde Tacos. The crispy tacos were not hot and neither was the rice and beans on either plate. The ground beef was super salty, to the point where I couldn't even finish and I like salt. Service was great and friendly, but I was not a huge fan of the food we ordered compared to the other location. I kept seeing other customers ordering the Molcajete so maybe we just ordered the wrong items. We'll give them another chance next time we're in the area! read more

I went for a late lunch around 1PMish on a Monday. There was only one person in front of me. The restaurant only had about 5 tables with people in them. There were a lot that had dishes still on them. There was a person that was at the cashier that was very nice, yet another person was close by on their phone. No excuses for tables not being bussed. But even with that, the restaurant was very clean. The food came out. I ordered the crunchy taco meal with carnitas. I was kind of disappointed. What little carnitas that were in the tacos were pretty dry and tasteless. Based on taste of their chips, which are definitely made in-house, I think the taco shells were premade. The shell taste wasn't horrible. Just would have been better for them to be made in house, especially at the cost of my entire meal. I just got water so I can't talk about how the drinks are made. Not sure if I'll come back. Edit: The other thing I loved about this place is how comfortable I felt. It's not in a great area, but the atmosphere the created inside feels like fine dining. Edit2: I heard back from someone very quickly and they wanted to make it right by me coming back. There's a full bar for the drinkers. The chips kept coming until our meal was out. I first wanted to order the Mole chicken enchiladas, but wasn't sure if it was very sweet. I like my mole on the spicier and less sweet side. Their mole is sweet with a hint of spice at the end. So I opted for the red chicken enchiladas. The chicken was very moist, not dry. I think they shredded and chopped it? It looked a little mushed. It was good. The red sauce was pretty spicy. It was perfect for me. I told her I like spicy- I think they made it spicier for me honestly, because the menu said milk spicy red sauce for the red enchiladas. My other coworker stated that the carnitas are the best there because they cook it on the flat top to give it a crisp. He always order carnitas tacos. I would definitely come back. Dined in at Mezcal Grill Natomas this past week with a coworker. I really like this place. Eat at bar counter or tables. When you walk in, you order and have a seat. Food is brought to you. It's an expedient process and the restaurant had customers but it wasn't crazy busy. I love the super chill experience we had. There's a chips & salsa bar. No pico de gallo but the verde and the red sauces were good. I don't need chips anyway. There were a couple of carrot slices in with pickled jalapeños. Grabbed fresh radishes, too. Tried the shrimp taco this time. It's good. I asked for my carne asada meat in my flour taco (must order, love the fresh tortilla) to not be cooked too much. It came out perfectly. The lovely plants on the patio dining were really cool. And I'm in love with the burro and handler giant photo on the back wall. read more
