We're looking for a Mexican spot for a burrito to go and came across this one on Yelp. It's about five minutes from the freeway. The restaurant is located on the corner with plenty of parking spots. There's plenty of seating inside. I ordered a regular Carne Asada burrito. They ask if you want pinto beans or refried beans. I opted for the Pinto beans for the traditional burrito taste. I didn't realize it till after, but they didn't ask me what type of salsa I wanted. To my surprise, they added pico de gallo in it which I wouldn't add. I noticed they had a salsa bar. I am headed over there while we waited to see what type they had. There was also a chip bin, but I wasn't offered any chips to go so I didn't grab any. I'm so glad I got some salsas because our burrito didn't have any at all. It would have been disappointing. I will say, It was a good sized burrito. The flavor was good. I really enjoyed the rice. It lacked meat though. I kept biting hoping to get to the meaty part. My husband got the super burrito and he said he didn't have much meat as well.

WowWwww this place is delicious. We stopped here ordered our lingua tacos and carne Asada street tacos.. They were so delicious. And the food came out within a good amount of time and we did not have to wait. I like that they have chips that stay in a warm warmer so you can have chips and salsa so delicious. We will definitely be back again to get more food and try different things.

So I had a day off on a recent Monday and hadn't had lunch-I seemed to recall a relatively new deal a local taqueria was having in town, that seemed hard to believe so I decided to go check it out-I went to Taqueria Rincon Alteno in Natomas on Truxel Road. Parking there is pretty good-they have their own lot on the side of their building with limited spots but they also have a much bigger lot in the rear which they share with other businesses in their multi tenant shopping center. Once I parked I did notice the signs outside I'd seen earlier "Monday $8 Super or Regular Burritos"-that's what I was here for,so I headed inside and placed my order.I ended up going with a Super Carne Asada Burrito with refried beans, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and of course Carne Asada-I asked for the rice that comes with burrito to be served on the side, which they had no problem doing. This burrito ended up only costing me $8-so yes that deal is real-I was giddy. After ordering, they gave me a basket for chips,so I went to grab some chips and they are located in a little pantry dispenser thing located over by the salsa bar-10/10 in my book for for free chips. They had 5 or 6 salsa offerings-but my fav was the green-it was delicious-the wife prefers the milder red one,so different strokes I guess it's great they have many options to please everyone. It's a pretty big place-they have seating in their main room and they have a 2nd room that's available for customers to sit-not sure if that's always been there or they expanded but it's nice-that's where I sat. Now I will be honest,I buy a lot of burritos around town, out of town, basically everywhere I go-so when I saw the $8 burrito offer I kinda rolled my eyes and was like "it's probably some watered down version of their regular burritos,no way it's going to be the real deal right?"-WRONG-this was a huge burrito-same as I'd get any other day of the week-this thing was very nice-when I tell u I wrecked that thing,I truly mean I wrecked it-it was so good. The perfect mix of all the ingredients without the rice taking over, like most burritos was awesome-I enjoyed it very much. At $8 for this burrito-it has to be the best value in Sacramento that you will ever find for a Super Burrito-it's for sure the best value I've seen so far. They also have a pretty good special on Tuesday with $1.50 soft tacos and Wednesday with $3 for crispy tacos-but I haven't experienced those yet,but something tells me that will be happening sooner rather than later. In closing-I will say I left a very satisfied customer-a great meal at a great price-I think I will have to head back out there next Monday as well.So if you ever find yourself in Natomas on a Monday and want to experience this great deal on a Super Burrito-I'd check them out-u won't be disappointed-Taking one last look at their menu before I walked out-it's vast-so I'd imagine this place would be pretty great any other day of the week as well. PS-I forgot to mention, their Spanish rice was pretty good as well-a strong 8.5/10-great seasonings, perfect texture-what more can you ask for-Be Kind Out There.

Overall: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Price: 4/5 I came here for dinner and got the Carnitas dinner plate, and the Burrito. The Carnitas was crazy! Fire! Tender, juice, fatty, flavorful. The burrito was coo, but I'll be going back for the Carnitas.

Yes yes yes Taco salad and taco order. The chicken on the taco salad was great! Very flavorful- there was just too much sour cream but can be removed The tacos - amazing. I ordered lengua and this is a MUST HAVE. I crave it now. They have chips and salsa and a huge menu!!! Love it

Chimmi!!!?
Jofer I.

Taqueria Rincon Alteño has been a staple for us for over 10 years, and that alone says a lot. Through all that time, the quality has never changed--same comforting flavors, same hearty portions, same consistency that keeps us coming back. That said, there's a right way to order here, and it makes a huge difference. Do yourself a favor and order the chimichanga instead of the regular super burrito. The chimichanga is where this place really shines. The tortilla is grilled to absolute perfection--crispy on the outside, warm and structured on the inside, never soggy or greasy. It holds everything together and adds that extra layer of flavor and texture that elevates the entire meal. We've had the super burrito plenty of times over the years, and while the ingredients are always solid--fresh, filling, and flavorful--the standard tortilla just doesn't showcase the fillings the same way once it's wrapped and sitting. The chimichanga completely fixes that. Adding something personal here: my wife is pregnant, so food timing, comfort, and quality matter even more than usual. When you've been coming to a place for over a decade, you trust it--and this meal delivered that familiar, satisfying comfort we were hoping for. The sauces are flavorful, the fillings are generous, and the consistency over the years is what truly sets this place apart. It's rare to find a spot that doesn't cut corners over time, and Rincon Alteño hasn't. Final tip: Longtime customer here. Skip the regular super burrito. Get the chimichanga.

Menudo

Service was quick Food arrived quickly 5/5 Quesadilla suiza carne asada - large tortilla folded to perfection with deliciously flavored meat and no fatty chewy pieces. Cheese was melted & plentiful. Guac & sour cream portions on the side were generous. 5/5 Chile relleno -perfect cheese to salsa to breading ratio. Cheese was melted perfectly with a nice little cheese pull action. Under $6 a la carte which is totally reasonable. 4/5 salsa bar - crema salsa was a little watery 4/5 Menudo - lots of tripe but could use a little more hominy but not an issue. 4/5 Eggs, chorizo & potato burrito. Really good sized & good flavor. Total meal around $47 before tip. Inside was empty with moderate pleasant Mexican music playing. This will definitely be in our rotation!!

Carne Asada & Carnita tacos $1.5 each on Tuesdays
Samuel L.

Listen... I found the best Taco Tuesday in Sacramento! These $1.50 tacos are dangerous. Carne asada packed so full I had to question the laws of physics. Carnitas so tender I almost wrote them a thank-you card. And somehow they're handing them over in record speed with a smile like they've been waiting all day just to feed me. No fancy décor, no mood lighting--just tables, chairs, and the smell of sizzling meat doing all the work. And honestly, that's perfect. Because when tacos taste this good, who needs anything else? Taco Tuesday here isn't just a deal--it's a life choice.

Hangry and in search of Menudo! Located at the end of a shopping strip, on site parking with both indoor & outdoor seating. Menu has tons to offer & staff was friendly. Ordered a tasty and with a kick Michelada, Taco de Carne asada, Taco de Tripas (yummy), Chorizo Egg breakfast plate & a round of Menudos with Bolillo. Menudo and its toasty with some butter bolillo were delicious. Chips, salsa and condiments bar is great. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. We will surely be back!

Crispy Lengua and Crispy Cabeza tacos
Michelle L.

Longtime Natomas resident, but somehow only recently came in to Taqueria Rincon Alteno for a weekday lunch per another local's suggestion. She had been there before years ago and remembered liking it so much that the recent craving was real. I got a combo with three items, a chicken enchilada, a crispy lengua and crispy cabeza taco, rice and beans and added an horchata to complete the meal. Chips and salsa were complimentary and their salsa verde seemed to be the most popular. I may come back for one of those 18" burritos!

Ouch this one's hard! I was here when this place first opened and was quite a regular. I have a lot of great memories with my son here. It's been a while since I've been here. However, this is the third time that I came and it just wasn't what it used to be for me. If you order anything here, get the crispy tacos they are the best by far. They've never changed really good. Service is always good. The place is big. They opened up the second side, which is nice and they have a lot of area seating outside. My problem is tonight is the first night that I was met with lower than expected expectations One please note you will be paying for chips. When I asked if you want chips, the person at the register didn't say I'd be charged that's number one also for dining in being charged for chips. I don't know why anyone would charge for chips; but that's a huge turn off for me no matter the price I'm sad to say I don't know that I'll come back here except for when my mom wants to come because she really likes their crispy tacos Today I got flautas 2 -5 I was disappointed by the size. It definitely has changed. The beans and rice with it we're good. I did want to ask her for a flower tortilla, but I wasn't sure what they would charge me for it. I will say this the water is amazing. It's really good. It's so funny because I was thinking it and then I was told it as we were sitting there eating. I was sitting there, disappointed that I was gonna rate them 4 stars because as I said, this use to be 5 stars. What happened to make it go down to A 3 star was my husband ordered the chimichanga burrito with wet sauce over it. We thought there might've been a mistake. Maybe we got the wrong order. Maybe we ordered wrong even though I knew I did not but all in all when he took the burrito up they said they don't fry it. I'm sorry that's just not a chimichanga. For a $50 bill - I really expect for more than just my water to taste good. Hopefully, in the future, they take some of those fees away. I know for me I would be upset if I would've ordered some other food that I seen that people got charged for as far as they charged for. Birria sauce. Prices are decent, but I'm sad to say I did not want to give this review

Don't sleep on the breakfast tortas! Amazing!

First time and it won't be my last! The breakfast torta was well worth it!! Not too heavy and so homey!

Ask the Community - Taquería Rincón Alteño

Are the rice and beans vegetarian?

I'd call to confirm but based on my taste experience I'd say no.

Do you have tamales?

No they do not.

Are you open today? Called twice and no answer. Want to come for lunch.

We are open everyday from 9am-9pm

Is there lard in the refried beans?

No, we use soybean shortening.

Could they offer catering for 40-50 people? Love this place and go there all the time and would like to have them at my sweet 16

I think they should be able to. We used them for catering for my son's birthday in May. We had 30 guests. I recommend calling and asking. They cater by the pound.

The burrito was below average in size, had meat covering less than half of it, and contained no sour cream. The portion and overall preparation were nowhere near what I would expect when paying for a carnitas burrito. But the most concerning part was the salsa. It had an extremely strong chemical taste and smell that reminded me of Fabuloso or mop/cleaning solution. It was so unpleasant that I genuinely questioned whether something had gone wrong with the preparation or whether the salsa had somehow come into contact with cleaning chemicals. I cannot say what caused it, but the taste was absolutely disgusting and raised a serious food-safety concern for me. This is why consistency and proper food-handling procedures matter. A restaurant can have a great meal one day and a terrible one the next, but customers shouldn't have to wonder whether something that tastes like cleaning chemicals is safe to eat. I hope management takes this seriously and looks into the preparation, storage, and handling of the salsa and other ingredients. If a product tastes or smells strongly enough like cleaning chemicals that a customer is questioning whether it may be contaminated, that is something that should be investigated--not dismissed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this burrito. Poor portion, poor execution, and a salsa that raised legitimate food-safety concerns. Consistency and cleanliness should be non-negotiable in a restaurant.

It's an upscale establishment with a spacious grandiose interior and refurbished rustic exterior. Prior to this review, virtually every experience I've had with Mexican cuisine involved street food and a cheap place to sit down (or sometimes even stand up); little did I realize that I needed to experience the opposite end of that spectrum on occasion. The food begins with unlimited complimentary chips, black beans, and salsa. Our server Steven A. did an immaculate job refilling these starters and our water on time. I tried the taco de cazuela -- it's a cheezy culinary delight that tastes nothing like the typical street taco.
