We found our new Mexican restaurant around town due to the recommendation of our hair dresser Maria. I love going around trying the chile verde and this place does it good . Today I tried it in the super burrito with no beans and pico on the side. The lady taking my order must have known I don't like raw onions/cilantro and offered me just avocado instead of guacamole. Sunday is for menudo. Had to come to this authentic Taqueria on Northgate. Great prices & many options on menu. Menudo served nice and hot and full of flavor. They are not greedy with the meat or hominy. Served with handmade corn tortillas which were a good size and delicious. Even took some home to make some quesadillas. Also ordered a shrimp cocktail, which was huge plenty of shrimp inside the cocktail. I just added my fixings to it and flavored it up to my liking. This place is pretty good, I haven't been here in awhile but went in yesterday and they moved their menu and it looks really cute. The miche was really good and I normally don't care for them. The crispy tacos are always really good but one thing I would like to suggest is them clean the shrimp before cooking and it would be perfect. The tacos here still live up to the expectations I have of them. Their prices went up a little so it's $10 for 3 taqueria tacos but that's good for me. They still have a decent salsa bar and the chips are good. They changed the order counter to the room without the bar. It was alarming at first but it's better for everyone. They lost the menu board and sadly, like all eager-to-raise-prices businesses, they adopted TV monitors for the menu. Sigh. Anyway, when I came in a few days ago, everyone was wonderful from polite customers to helpful staff. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food (and we're not talking about fattening rice & beans - although I think they have them), you need to come here. Food very authentic and good. Service is good depending on who is there. I used to love this place and we'd go there 2 or 3 times a week at the beginning. We started going there the first week they opened. We/I always spend between 200 and 300 a visit (I like expensive tequila). We/I went there with my friends and family. My husband rarely goes it's too loud for him. My friends and family still go there. We took my husband's 78 year old cousin there. She lives in East Sacramento She started taking her friends and clients there. I no longer go there. Actually I've been there maybe twice in the past six months. Why? I read a post on Nextdoor from a man that went there and was given shots of tequila and food vouchers for free food at a future time from the owner. I couldn't believe I was reading this. I have spent thousands of dollars all these years and have given them a lot of new customers. The owner has seen me every time I've been there. Prior to the last 2 occasions I have there I told my favorite person Cari I wasn't coming back. On these two occasions I had Crispy Tacos and a Pacifico and the other visit Menudo and 2 shots of tequila. Now I have to drive out of my community for good food. As for the wonderful tequila, I started buying myself $400 bottles of tequila instead of paying $60 a shot at Bramido. I have to admit I stick to the $200 bottles mostly at home. I have my place for Menudo, Vallejo's. I love their's. They are my close friends. But, now I have to drive out of my neighborhood. Good tequila at most restaurants isn't a reality. If they have good tequila, I rarely like their food. Will I go to Bramido again maybe for Crispy Tacos and a Beer. My cousin recently asked me to take her there. She likes the micheladas. The Molcajete that they serve here is a staple for me and my partner. It's enough for both of us to share, but the other food we've ordered here has always been very good. There's always a churro stand right outside if you need a fix for your sweet tooth. There's parking to the left and to the right of the place. The tables and chairs looked like they jumped forward from the 1970's. Clean, well kept and so very retro! There is no table service for ordering your meal or beverages. There is an order taker who will take your order, you will pay the order taker and that same order taker will deliver the meals and beverages to your table. So our group ordered and shared a house burrito (large enough for 4 ppl), a carne asada french fries, a bunch of tacos and a shrimp dish. I'm not doing a good job of describing our food, mainly because I forgot to grab a menu so I can accurately describe and write this review. That shrimp was excellent by the way. A tip of the seasoning, you can order your food mild medium or hot on the spice. A tip of the menudo is only available on the weekends. There are no left overs Period Dot! The first time I ate here I was very happy with the food. However, I went back for takeout last week and was less than pleased. In the middle of eating my chicken fajitas I found either someone's fake nail that had popped off or a piece of plastic. Not only disgusting, but I nearly chipped a tooth.
