A few months ago, I dropped in for a weekday lunch. However iit wasn't meant to be for me to actually dine here. There was only one server at the tine. He was also the host and manager. After he sat us, we over 20minutes before we left. What prompted us to leave was that two tables came in after us and immediately got their drink orders taken. Those tables were directly across the aisle from us. I reminded him we were here before the other tables. This seemed not to help possibly hurt. It looked as if they were understaffed. I understand that happens, creating longer wait times. But serving the tables that came in after us before us just didn't sit well with me. At this point I'm not feeling it and we left. I'm apt to come back; possibly on a weekday when it's anticipated to have fuller staffing. The restaurant interior is colorful and super quirky with its colorful tile mosaic artwork inside and on the exterior of the building. They have a full bar and TVS. There's an outdoor patio as well. Sal's Tacos is in West Sacramento on Street, super close to the I Street bridge and a few blocks from the Sutter Health ball park which is home to the minor league Sacramento Rivercats and MLB A's.
Fabulous food in a festive atmosphere! We love Sal's Tacos! I got the asada Caesar salad which was dressing heavy but very tasty. Wife got tinga toastadas which were yummy. Their chips are nice n salty. Salsa has no heat but tons of flavour.
Give me one margarita....thats what we came for. We ordered a few. So good. VERY strong. With is always amazing. Service was quick and our waiters were lovely. You can tell they took the time to decorate the place and make it gorgeous. Definitely going to try the food next time.
Great food, atmosphere and staff! What we ordered Crispy Tacos- Chicken Nachos Chicken Flautas Started with chips and salsa, warm salted chips with 2 salsas (1 red 1 green) so good with on their own but add a beer or margarita and you've got yourself a spot to chill. Everything was fresh, beans rice and all toppings! I will come back for Chile Relleno and Enchiladas next !

I loved this restaurant! The Mexican decor is very cute! It's out in West Sac, close by the rivercats stadium. I've lived in sac my whole life and never knew it existed because it's in a spot of town that isn't downtown or midtown. The service was great, I felt like the waiter was very personable and helpful! I also thoroughly enjoyed my food and my families food was delicious as well. They have a great selection of alcohol for drinks to enjoy for a fun time out with friends or family.
Best carnitas torta I've ever had. Too large to eat. 1/2 a beautiful avocado. Sal's has some of the best Mexican food in town. Great service and fun decor.
Our experience at this restaurant was just okay. Unfortunately, the service on the outdoor patio was lacking. Our server forgot our drinks, and when my Margarita arrived, it was much too strong for my taste. When I mentioned it, I was told that most guests prefer their Margaritas that way. While I appreciate the insight, it would have been better if they had asked about my preference beforehand. The replacement Margarita was better but still not great. Service overall felt minimal--I had to go inside both to request to-go containers and again to pay the bill, which was inconvenient. Given these issues, I feel that a three-star rating is somewhat generous. I hope they can improve their service, as the atmosphere has potential.

Restaurant filled up quickly during the lunch hour. The decor is colorful and made me feel like I was in Mexico. The staff is friendly and attentive. The charge for chips and salsa. Which was odd to me because most Mexican restaurants I have visited usually offer complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. I ordered the 4 soft tacos with 4 different meats: chicken, asada, carnitas, and adobada. I enjoyed them
When we heard Sal's was under new ownership we RAN to try it. 10/10 experience all around! They've made updates to the interior and the patio. We sat on the patio and loved the vibe. It's the perfect spot before or after an A's game. Our waiter was extremely kind and attentive. He checked in on us multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our food and we were! We ordered the margaritas, steak plate, and enchiladas. Everything was delicious! The beans and rice were perfect too. We'll absolutely be back!
Some of the BEST authentic Mexican food I've ever had! I felt like I was back in Mexico when I entered and took in the ambiance. Super enjoyable service! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back here again. Big thank youto Sal's Tacos.
Have gone here a couple times, normally for takeout - food is pretty good but the service is meh. They always seem understaffed. Crunchy tacos hit the spot for me. Came with chips and salsa which were fine but not amazing.
This cafe is so fun the decorations are special in many ways and tile work inside and out. Food was very good I ate too much and we still had leftovers. Fish tacos came crisp fish, lots of cabbage, excellent sauces- just a hop away from Tower Bridge.

This was actually our third choice of Mexican restaurants. We went to our usual taqueria and it was closed due to some repairs that needed to be made on the roof. We say the later and caution tape. We went to the other taqueria across the street and it was stuffy in there and their AC wasn't working. Still on the quest for tacos we tried place number 3. Not as convenient, but not too far away either. We arrived on Tuesday, June 3, 2026 around 6pm. They have 2 parking lots, one on either side of the restaurant. We parked in the one near the front entrance. There were several spots left. We entered in the front door and we were greeted with a cool breeze. What a happy moment. They had their AC blasting and we soaked in every bit. We were given the option to sit anywhere. We choose the booth across from the bar near the cool Kings mosaic. Soon as we sat down we were brought menus and water. We were offered chips and salsa, but there is a cost so we passed. They really offer it as complimentary and maybe this is the reason it's not choice number 1. Taqueria number one offers all you can eat chips and a salas bar to accompany your meal. I thought this was standard practice of Mexican restaurants apparently I'm wrong. After pursuing the menus and discussing on what two dishes go together we settled on the Taco salad and the set of 4 street tacos. I ordered the taco salad. I didn't like the carnitas. I found them lacking of flavor and a little fatty. The lacking of flavor was a total turn off and I offered all of it to my husband after I took a bite. I was really disappointed as I'm the one who chose the meat option and it's additional for carnitas. I do think there should have been more salsa on the salad. I did enjoy the beans and guacamole on the salad. That part was really good. I wish there was a bit more lettuce and the shell was bigger so they could add more lettuce. The shell was crispy to perfection and delicious. My husband ordered the el pastor street tacos. They were very tasty and drippy and a bit of a kick to them. I really though they complimented the taco salad. Since we spit both of the dishes it was important to have them compliment. In the end we had enough to eat and didn't need any chips and salsa to fill us up, it would just have been a nice jester. And I believe it should be an industry standard. The decor is festive and bright. I love all the mosaics. It's at really fun restaurant to eat at and there is always parking. We went back 9/24/26. This time I ordered the chicken in the taco salad. It wasn't good either. Instead of stewed or shredded it was dried out cubes of breast. It really didn't add to it. Next time I'm going meatless. We had the guacamole and chips and salsa this time and filled up on that. We split the taco salad and that was enough for us for dinner. read more

I'm not sure if Sal's Tacos in West Sacramento changed ownership, but wow--the food and service are better than ever! The interior has been updated, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. It feels amazing to dine in and enjoy a great meal! I had their street tacos with al pastor and carnitas, and they were delicious! The portion of meat was generous, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Everything was fresh, and the flavors were on point. If you haven't been here in a while, I highly recommend checking them out--or if you're new, this is definitely a spot worth visiting! You won't be disappointed! read more

Cute, inviting exterior and patio area. Dia de Los Muerto decor, reminds me of restaurants in San Diego. Service was fast and friendly. Loved my enchiladas and friends enjoyed their burritos. Portions are large, comes with delicious rice and beans, about $14-15 per entree. We came here for lunch hour on a Friday. They were efficient, so we will definitely be back! read more

Food was good and the location is close to home. Sitting outside is a whole vibe especially during the summer. My mother and I really enjoyed our meals. The rice and beans were on point and that is always a hallmark on whether or not a Mexican restaurant is good. Chips and salsa is not included here so we paid $3.50 for some. Finished the first basket before the food came and so the waiter asked if we'd like more. Of course we said yes and that was that. Food came and it was really good. Mom got the Día de muertos combo which is a chicken enchilada and a chile relleno with rice and beans. I got the carnitas burrito, it was huge and stuffed with rice and beans only. We left stuffed and my mom even boxed up half her meal to go. Bill comes and we were surprised to see the chips and salsa was on there twice. Now I understand we got two servings but I guess I was naive to think the second basket would be complimentary. Overall the bill came out to just under $40, with no sodas or alcohol. Service was excellent and we will definitely be back. Love supporting West Sac restaurants and Sal's location has been around forever. read more

I was on the west side of the river today, so I decided to come back for lunch. I haven't been here since before the pandemic. I'm glad I did. Everything was amazing! The decor inside and out is just as fresh and bright as it has always been. Sadly, the salsa bar is no more, a victim of the pandemic. That's OK, the food was off the chain. Much better than the last time I was here. The menu is very large. I decided to go basic with the chicken enchiladas and the Chile relleno.. The plate was humongous! The enchiladas were tender, as well as the chicken, and it tasted delicious. The Chile relleno was not over fried, not greasy, and it also tasted very good. The green sauce with the enchilada and the red sauce on top of the Relleno had a lot of flavor. The rice was tender, and the beans had a lot of flavor I walked out stuffed. The meal was absolutely fantastic, and the price was reasonable. I will be back again. Thank you. read more
I can't believe this is the first time I have ever visited Sal's! I went with a friend for lunch. I got the street taco plate, which included 4 tacos. I ordered one of each kind of meat: chicken, pastor, asada, and carnitas. The food was delicious, the interior and decor was vibrant and festive, and the service was good. Tacos aren't just for Tuesday's, especially when you're at Sal's! Sal's has been around for awhile, and if you haven't been there, you should discover this gem! Nestled on the corner of C street in West Sacramento, with plenty of free parking. The exterior and the interior are colorfully decorated and welcoming. The menu offerings range from yummy tacos to tasty burritos. Every dish sounds fabulous. I ordered the tacos. So much yum! Crispy, fresh, and filled with a generous amount of meat, covered with melty cheese. The side of beans and rice were a nicely added touch, and delish! The staff is super friendly, and they make sure that your glasses are kept felt, and food service is expedient. Delicious food at a fun place! read more
We are looking for some authentic mexican food and we found this in west sac. The place is great you will really feel like you are in mexico. Very colorful place. They serve fast and I love the crispy tacos more than the soft shell tacos. We ordered a lemonade but its a Big No for us. It doesn't taste good and it has an after taste to it. It looks like a fire took place at Sal's (according to their Facebook page). They said they will stay closed so they can assess repairs, etc.
