This place has become my most recent go-to when that little voice says - "pssst....Dave....Dave....i know you hear me....you want fajitas." Admittedly, I hear that voice a lot. In any case, I usually order the fajitas. They give you a decent quantity that tastes great. The meet is tender and flavorful and those tortillas had me at hello. I love this stuff! My son elects to go for the cheese enchiladas. I don't have to ask him how much he likes them because is a super picky eater and this is the one place where he actually cleans his plate. The margaritas are solid as well and when you glance around the restaurant, you'll see them on most tables. This place is a well oiled machine. There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal. On this visit I just wanted a drink and a small bite though. Upon walking in, the restaurant was nearly full and bustling. I spotted some seats over at the bar area in the back right so I sat there. There are happy hour specials ending at 6pm weekdays but the bartender told me about the daily specials and how the Natalitas margarita was stronger than the happy hour one for about the same price, so I chose that one. I ordered the large for $10.25 which comes in an 18 oz large glass. After looking at the menu, I settled on one of my typical orders at happy hour, the small (8 in) beef fajita quesadilla. This comes out after about 10 mins and it has the typical sour cream and guacamole on the sides. There is plenty there to be placed on all 8 of the quesadillas. This is a pretty standard tasting quesadilla, nothing really stood out about it. Same goes for the margarita. Keep in mind this is a discounted drink and made with pre-mixed sweet and sour from a large plastic bucket at the back of the bar area using a house tequila and a house orange liquor. I couldn't read the labels on either bottle since they turned them backward during my entire visit. Not sure if they do this on purpose or not. Either way, there are better quality margarita options obviously, using fresh juice they store in their refrigerator and a margarita that is actually shaken. The discounted ones are so discounted, they actually just pour the ingredients into an ice filled glass and ask you to stir it yourself when they place it in front of you. Either way, it is a convenient location and the prices of their entrees are reasonable compared to some other Mexican restaurants around town. I don't think I saw any dish above 18.99. Mondays look to be a good day to come for their Patron margarita special for around $10.99.

This was one of the best Mexican brunch experiences I've had! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The atmosphere was cozy, inviting, and the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing brunch with family or friends. The coffee was excellent, rich, smooth, and the perfect way to start the meal. We started with the empanadas, and they were delicious. They were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside while staying flavorful and satisfying on the inside. The chilaquiles were absolutely incredible and easily one of my favorite dishes. The sauce had the perfect level of spice, enough to give it a kick without overpowering the other flavors. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the textures were spot on. The huevos rancheros were just as impressive. The combination of spicy, tangy, and creamy flavors came together beautifully, making every bite rich and satisfying. It was a well-balanced dish that tasted fresh and authentic. We also ordered the queso fundido, which was delicious. It was perfectly melted, rich, and full of flavor, and the fresh, warm tortillas served alongside it made it even better. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients. Overall, everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. Between the outstanding food, excellent coffee, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere, this is definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Highly recommend it if you're looking for an authentic and memorable Mexican brunch! read more

I recently had breakfast at Mexican Mom and it was outstanding. I ordered the red chilaquiles, and they were excellent. The presentation looked great and the flavor was even better--rich, authentic, and very satisfying. The customer service was just as impressive. The owner, who was also serving tables, checked on us frequently and made sure everything was perfect. It's always nice to see that level of attention and care. I also tried their cornbread and capirotada (Mexican bread pudding), and both were delicious--definitely worth ordering if you visit. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. That said, El Jarrito is one of the best spots we've tried so far in Magnolia and even compared to places we've had in Houston. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5. I ordered the chile relleno plate. Normally it comes with either cheese or ground beef, rice, and refried beans, but I customized it to one cheese and one ground beef with charro beans instead. They gave me zero pushback, which I appreciated. The cheese relleno was better than the ground beef one in my opinion, but both were good. The rice was actually better than most places around here. The charro beans had good flavor, about a 3 out of 5 for me, but could have used more meat. We also ordered hard shell ground beef tacos. They do not offer shredded meat, which would have been nice. Flavor was good and my wife enjoyed them, but they use pre made taco shells. If they homemade fried those shells, that would have taken it to another level. Our friend had the combo, cheese enchilada and taco, and she loved it. The enchilada was solid. Now let's talk about the salsa. The house salsa with the chips was fire. Fresh and warm, which is different in a good way. My wife had never had warm salsa before and really liked it. The guacamole was fresh. We asked them to keep it basic because we have a toddler and did not want it spicy. They nailed it. We added our own lime and salt and it was perfect. We ordered three micheladas. The cups were on the smaller side, but the mix was good and the mugs were ice cold. No complaints there. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. The place was clean and we were taken care of right away. Overall, based on flavor, service, willingness to accommodate, and feedback from everyone at the table, it is a 4 out of 5. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to exploring more of Magnolia, but for this neck of the woods, this spot holds its own.
