This is not about the Metro store, but the Metro delivery. Started with their delivery service in the pandemic and they used to have great delivery when they used their own drivers and trucks. With the trucks, we got guaranteed temperature control, accurate updates on delivery with tracking, and they used their own crates to hand deliver your groceries to the door- no bags or boxes. Now Metro uses 3rd party delivery which only uses reusable bags for your groceries - absolutely ridiculous. At least PC express uses cardboard boxes and voila uses paper bags. Moreover, there are no longer accurate and regular updates on our orders and there's even been discrepancies on correct delivery windows. Don't have a problem with the brick and mortar store, but will not be renewing my subscription for delivery again anymore. read more

I have been shopping here for a few years now and my review is mixed. The produce oftentimes is bad from shopping and best before dates are old.Freezer entrees are sometimes bad from having stayed out and put back. I always get receipts from my visit. Good things about Metro. No trouble returning items that are spoiled. Good Friday of canned goods and other items. Most frozen food entrees and pizza is good. Staff members are incredibly polite and go out of their way to assist you. For this last reason I will continue to shop at Metro. read more

Metro is a fine neighborhood grocery store that has just about everything you'd need except maybe liquor but I suppose there're laws blocking that. But they did have some beer to my liking. Taking a stroll around the store, I noticed a fine selection of produce and fresh meat plus a hot food counter and deli. Snacks too. The space is clean and bright and easy to navigate. All the employees I interacted with were pleasant. If I lived nearby, I'd stop by often. read more

Fantastic multi level grocery store, a-crossed the street from the hotel I was staying. I just went in for some brews and I enjoyed that they had craft selection's in singles! This store reminds me of Hy-Vee in Iowa.. They have everything you need, it's clean, and the staff is second to none! Nothing quite like a good grocery store to make you want to buy everything! The full marks are for the ginormous lobster painting on the front of this Metro during its Grand Opening, which grabbed my attention and made me warm up to this place. To be honest, I was sad to see that Metro was moving into this space. There is already another Metro SO close to here in Liberty Village. And the trusty FreshCo is still right across the street, with a lot of common brands at prices much lower than Metro. This Metro caters to a young, working crowd (walk-in traffic?) with deli goodies, ready to eat cooked food, take-out lunches and on-trend brands, plus all the usual Metro offerings. One difference from the quite giant Liberty Village store is that the shelving is not quite so tall - I wonder, is this a design decision marketers made so shoppers could check each other out? Another difference, very apparent around the opening - is the number of security guards. (Not sure if this is still the case.) They were there at the door, they were around the store, they were in the basement. Shopping in such a securitized environment is a little disconcerting. One surprise here is that this Metro has a specially dedicated cooler of LCBO Ontario craft beers that you can purchase at LCBO prices during the same hours the LCBO is open. This could be quite useful if you were in this vicinity shopping for din-dins and not wanting to haul yourself any further for a couple of cold cans. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Metro. The honeymoon is finished, Metro. My old school Parkdale heart is true, and I'm over your sparkly set up. I don't care how lovely you look, it's often hard to find simple things, and if one more employee says "if it's not around here we don't have it" my head is going to explode. Ex. Plode. I think my husband's head might have actually exploded a few times already. RIP, hun. When I need fancy fish, meat or wine and/or beer I will happily return, but it's FreshCo forever (again). What a great supermarket. Spacious, air conditioned and with a nice dark wood and shady decor with the food aisles lit almost in mood-lighting. Almost the polar opposite to the usual food stained linoleum and tacky pale plastic. Great selection of fresh food, including sushi, noodles, pizza and salad. This is positioned by the front doorway wafting the smells onto the incoming customers to siphon more money from them. Great selection of cheeses, dairy, bread and meats in particular. If you are thinking of ordering from Metro for delivery better think twice. We ordered groceries on Tues and the Wed delivery slots were all full so we selected 8-10 pm on Thurs. Near 8 pm we got a call from Metro saying the delivery was running 120 minutes late. Ok - these things happen. Then at near 10 pm we got a call saying they weren't going to be coming but would schedule us for a delivery the next morning (Fri) between 10am - noon. Made sure we stayed home and still needed the groceries. Approaching noon with no delivery we called Metro and they said we weren't on their delivery schedule for Friday and our order was just in limbo. After quite a bit of back and forth, we agreed on a delivery window for Saturday between 4-6 pm. A few minutes later they apologized and said that slot was filled up before they could finalize it. So we agreed to a deliver on Saturday between 6-8 pm. At 7:30 Sat Metro called to say they are now running 90 minutes late. So time will tell whether or not we see any groceries tonight. No milk, no dinner items for tonight, no juice for the baby, etc. Only order groceries from Metro if you never need to have them delivered! UPDATE: Did receive delivery late Saturday night. Our croissants, meat and cheese were all packaged on Thursday for the original delivery so the pastry is now completely stale and shelf life of meat/cheese limited. Also got cream for coffee that curdled poured into coffee. Makes me think our groceries were just sitting in a truck for 3 days. BEWARE !!! read more

Stayed in the building next to this Metro. For those of you from the United States, this place is a condensed version of a Safeway. I absolutely loved this place while on vacation. It supplied me with decently priced water and snacks while on vacation. And extra big plus?! There's a Starbucks attached. SUPER CLEAN and ABSOLUTELY NO LINES no matter the time of day. read more

It's good to have a place to get prepared food and beer. The sign that says when they are allowed to sell beer should be more prominent. Maybe cover the area during the times you're not allowed to sell? They should also do something about the packaged fresh greens they sell. I noticed several packages with rotten greens. Went into this new metro near my house and got some groceries. The cashier put my olives into my bag flimsy and it fell out, most of the olives fell to the floor. I thought she would tell me to go get some more but instead she just stared at me while I was in clear distress. Cashiers need more training! Should know how to handle the situation and make new customers experience a little better! read more

Finally a beautiful new Metro on Queen West! I don't need to go to Liberty Village anymore when I need a decent selection of quality goods. I love the urban shopping cart size, rolling baskets and handheld basket options. Fresh co was only good for their frozen organic selection of veggies, liberty 10% yogurt, and Natrel organic milk. At metro I can buy my preferred organic meadow milk. There's an excellent beautiful display of produce for an urban shop, take-away meals, organic food & health snacks, great baby food aisle, a bakery, seafood counter. Everyone there helps you with knowledge and a smile. The produce manager and Jaime from bakery do an amazing job. Happy to find a Starbucks and wine shop downstairs. The flat whites are made really well. 1 hour free parking is available for $2 with minimum $15 purchase. Very happy with the convenience. Hope they stick fresh apple juice soon? :) read more
