I've been going here for 10 years. Hell I remember when it used to be called Dominion and not Metro.

It's spacious and offers an okay range of UK goodies. I found the grocery selection to be not the best out there when it comes to the two aisles, but they offer the classics and goodies--a good range of sweets. They have a frozen section that offers frozen meat pies, bread and chips. The real standout here is the bakery, of course. The bakery is considerably big and stocked with all the classic make-you-feel-good home items. They have multiple types of meat pies however one of my favs is Steak & Guinness. The bakery offers pasties, scotch eggs and a good selection of cakes. The staff are always happy to help at the counter and enjoy sharing information about their cakes. I've been back a few times since it's opening and it is great when you want to quickly pop in and grab some basics and scoop some meat pies and sausage rolls.

Since the closure of But'n Ben Scottish bakery in Pickering, there hasn't been another bakery to get good meat pies from. This bakery replaced a Wimpy's diner and I was curious to see how they would manage such a large space for a bakery. The store is well laid out with fridges and freezers that line the store, jam packed with delicious oven ready meals and hard to find eats. There are also isles stocked with jams, coffee, tea, pot noodles, biscuits and snacks from the old country. And in-store baked breads are spread out on tables near the display cases. I picked up 6 assorted meat pies and some Queen Victoria's during this visit and shared them with my family. I don't often make meat pies anymore as the kid still has yet to develop the taste for it, but for the adults in the family, this was a lovely treat to pick up several different flavours to sample (chicken pot pie, steak and gravy, steak and mushroom). We enjoyed our selection of pies and the dessert and look forward to returning to try out more delicious eats!

This place is huge, and sells all kinds of things. Parking is a bit hectic, even at 1:45 on a Thursday afternoon. The parking spots right in front of the Food Mart are very small, and scary for a big SUV like mine. But there is very frequent turnover, and if you just drive around the lot for 30 seconds, someone will be pulling out. The parking spaces in front of the stores facing the Food Mart are larger and a bit easier to navigate. This mall is great fun to go to. They have all manner of foods (fresh noodles! Great fruits! Asian stuffed toys and cosmetics! Fresh meat and seafood! The list goes on and on ...) and an excellent prepared food counter, and a Chatime outlet. We bought some mochi, some enormous strawberries, and a variety of dim sums from the food counter. Our selections included fried dough sticks (they actually reheat well in the air-fryer), fried squid, scallion pancakes, seafood and pork dumplings, some delicious pork and shrimp mini-pancakes. The squid was the way my daughter likes it (chewy), and I enjoyed some as well. Everything else was great, although the dumplings were a bit past their peak, and should have been switched out for new ones. We also enjoyed some delicious bubble tea from Chatime, which always has new, seasonal selections to tempt you. Basically, a trip to the Asia Food Mart is really fun, as they have such a diversity of products. Next time, I'm coming here to shop "for real" (meaning actual groceries, as opposed to lunch or snacks). The butchery and fish counters serve really fresh food at a good price, and there are some great deals on produce. You can't get around the fact that this is a snack haven. You should check it out now!!! It's open 24/7.

My family and I had just eaten at the Pacific Mall, but man, wish we had saved ourselves for this spot. As far as an Asian grocery stores go, this is one of the cleaner, and better organized ones that I have been to, maybe ever. Not only are they clean, but they have a great variety of snacks and drinks, as well as your standard fare for everyday cooking. To me, the star of this place has to be their prepared foods area. Evidently after 8pm, they mark down lots of their prepared food items. From dim sum, to noodles, fried rice and other entrees, you can score plenty of items for $4-6 which were normally 2-3x that. I felt like a kid in a candy store and began snatching and hording all the things. I had to stop and remind myself we were on vacation, and would be living out of hotels for the next few days, so I limited myself to just a handful of items. We got some noodles, fried rice and dumplings, which we would end up eating for breakfast over the next few days. While nothing was mind blowing per se, the food was solid and certainly economical. If I lived in this area, I could see myself coming here on the regular just for the prepared foods. OVERALL - almost wish I hadn't come to this place, so I'd never knew what I was missing. Thank you Canada for showing me what's possible. CELEBRITY RATING - Simu Liu

Seen this place transform from their old, not so tidy to their updated and more refreshed appearance. Compared to other grocery stores I still find No Frills chains the most affordable one. I can get my grass fed steaks here not ripping off my budget. They offer some organic stuff too, though its limited. The produce is alright you'll find good ones specially when they are fully stocked. Its great that this location is so diversed that they cater products from different background. They have the aisle for Kosher products, aisle for International foods and Halal meats and so on. I don't miss swinging by the Natural Food aisle. I'm glad that most of my stuff I use they have it here. This location don't offer yet the self checkout corner, seen some places they have it already but this one, you'll do the traditional queuing to cash out. I guess that's better, meaning more people are still employed than a machine. The people who works in this location is always approachable. You see them sweeping, stacking or putting away stuffs they will always throw you a smile and happy to assist you. I use my optimum card to collect my PC points and boy, I'm in heaven when its time to use my accumulated points! Who doesn't like big savings??? Once you enter in, someone greets you and asks you what you want. Everything is pre-bagged so you just tick off which meats you want and they pull it out of the tray or fridge for you. I ordered a bag of kalbi ribs, two bags of chicken thighs in different flavours. I don't find the kalbi really tasty for some reason. Maybe the marinade is too light but I wasn't a fan of the texture of the meat either. The chicken thighs on the other hand kicked it out of the ball park. The curry one is soooo juicy and delicious and I love the flavours. Prices are pretty good too. I can't remember exactly how much it was but I think the 3 bags were under $30 and they were more than enough to feed a family of 6.

Everything is marinated beforehand so this would be great if you planned a last minute bbq. I would get everything but the squid again. The squid didn't have any unique flavour to it and was quite bland in my opinion. If you get it I would recommend adding some sauce prior to putting it on the grill. As a side note, the shop's location has changed, which is shown on a notice at the door. They are located at another unit, called Ah Fong, in the same plaza. The plaza itself is super run down but don't judge a book by its cover - the meat here is amazing!

Pizza dough is decent - I feel like it's the same dough they use for cheesy bread so it's a bit thicker but has a nice softness to it. Definitely holds up against the toppings. The pepperoni, ground beef, mushrooms and pineapple pizza had a part that was slightly burnt not sure if it accidentally touched the flames. But otherwise everything else was good. Pineapple had a nice sweetness, pepperoni was tasty along with beef and mushrooms. The chicken bacon pizza had tons of toppings which is great but it felt like someone just tossed things on it at random. Giant chunks of chicken, whole strips of bacon, sliced red peppers but then a giant chunk for no reason. It looked chaotic yet somehow delicious. Hence the mixed reviews. Flavor wise it was good though. Price was really good at 10.99 a pizza - can't complain too much!
