Lots of rude employees specially at the deli meat section lacking customer service! They should at least hire better staff

Adonis is a HUMONGOUS supermarket with lots of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern products. It carries everything that you're looking for and more, with lots of different varieties of almost every product and produce. Hot food and ready-to-go food options include manakeesh (Lebanese flatbread topped with cheese, za'atar, and various other toppings, akin to Middle Eastern version of pizza), rice, falafels, dolmas (stuffed grape vine leaves), BBQ items, salads (tabouleh, Greek salad with feta, etc.). They have a large in-house bakery that sells homemade Middle Eastern desserts such as baklava (so many different varieties of it) and mouhalabieh (Middle Eastern milk pudding). Other stand-outs: in-house factory of Lebanese flatbreads (made fresh every minute!), big selection of dates, huge counter of nuts behind glass (with staff serving big scoops of bulk nuts for you), Adonis-branded products (beans, hummus, baba ghanouj, etc.). read more

Recently visited Adonis for the first time and quickly planned a second trip. They have everything I could think of - large bunch of mint for under $2, fresh pitas they make on site, fresh baklava and other sweets, smoothies, grilled chicken, marinated kebob meat ready to cook, or if you prefer, a grilled meat kebob counter. I also enjoyed rhe different mini pizzas they have- some with minced lamb meat, some with cheese, and some with spinach and cheese! Needless to say I will be a regular. read more

Huge, very nice and clean supermarket that offer a variety of options: fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat (beef and lamb), fresh chicken (fillet, thighs, breast-skinless and with skin), fresh seafood (shrimps, salmon, tilapia, scallops, etc.), store made baklava, pastry, cakes, breads, dairy, deli, canned food, frozen food, etc. It also has a restaurant section offering middle Eastern food with a reasonable price. They offer very delicious shawarma that is one of the best in Ontario. I have been here many many times and never have been disappointed. There are also lots of parking spots available. read more

They have a lot of authentic baklava and butter cookie available here. Less pricey than other well-known baklava bakeries in Scarborough, but I find here is just a little bit on the sweeter side. If you are a sweet lover, then you will like them. However, I also find baklava here are less crunchy with less rose water aroma compare to other places. Still good to try but others are just marginally better than here at Adonis. read more

today I had a great experience of customer service at Adonis Scarborough . I walked in to pick up 20 shawarma sandwiches at 10.30am that i had ordered .On arrival i found out that I had ordered the sandwiches on another site on Eglinton avenue this site was in Mississuaga. One of the managers in the grill meat section helped me by preparing my new order and cancelling the previous order at the other site. I do love shopping here, great food and the prices are pretty reasonable. One of the only places you can get all your groceries and a cheap shawarma while you walk around. The sale prices are the items you really want to check out they have some great deals. The bread unfortunately goes quick and is sold out usually by the end of the day but that is because it is made fresh in the morning (you can watch it as it's made). I usually stock up on it because it's almost almost as good as actually being in Lebanon. Suggestion is go during the week, it gets pretty busy on weekends. read more

I go to shopping there very often. The store offers a variety of fresh product. however, their customer service lacks. I find the worker who server the ready food to be extremely slow and extremely rude. The workers literally let you wait for a long time before they serve you. Not only that, the throw the food at you. They do not hand it to you. I will never buy food from there again. I hope they will hire a more friendly staff. read more

I went there once and I'd never go back. I wanted to buy some baklava and it was behind the counter. There were several people behind the counter chatting and eating. When I asked for assistance one lady said, one minute and kept talking. The other lady finally came over to help. I felt like I was such an inconvenience to them. read more

Wont find chewier, elastic-like authentic Near-East pita bread anywhere else in Toronto, for this cheap. Im talking the house-brand (Adonis brand) pita. Come here to get it. If your pita bread is not chewy, its stale. read more

There are great aspects to this Middle Eastern grocery store and still more I've yet to discover. Their pitas are soft and delicious. Their prepared foods are great. Shwarma pizza was amazing. Beautiful giant pide. Everything is seasoned well and tastes good. I'm excited to try more. Desserts are also great but not a lot of people behind the counter. Big downside is that it's pricy, even for normal things you get at other grocery stores. Regarding grocery, I don't really buy fruit/veg here (expensive and looks old). I bought meat here a couple times.It went bad before the best by day. I liked their fish. They have some spices eg. Sumac. Big variety of frozen samosas and other specialty items. read more

This review is purely for the food offered at this supermarket. I really enjoy the grilled chicken and the chicken shawarma place. Both were delicious and better than some take out places around the area. For the plate, it was $10.99 and it came with Rice, potatoes, salad of choice (they have good salad choices) - I got the falafel salad (it was the bomb!) shaved chicken shawarma and pita and hummus! The garlic puree sauce that comes with the meal makes the whole plate delicious and mouth watering. The portions are generous and I am impressed by the quality for a supermarket. The food area gets suuper busy so remember to take a number before heading to the counter to order - makes it leas chaotic. read more

Recently, my boyfriend and I had a conversation. He was driving home and indicated that he had picked up Egyptian pastrami (basterma) from Adonis. He had visited the Mississauga location. It's fascinating that I know about both Adonis locations in Mississauga and Scarborough. I also know that Adonis hails from Montreal. Have I ever visited Adonis anywhere? No! This past weekend, I visited the closer one to my home in Scarborough. I normally visit the Best Buy within the same area. I do not know why I have never visited this supermarket. Perhaps it is because the store is always busy. It's like going into food heaven when you first walk in. I felt like I was in the Middle East and Istanbul. Fruit and veggies immediately greet you. They looks impeccably fresh. If you are ordering at the counter, get a number from the ticker dispenser. I was mesmerized by all the olives, deli meats, meat, and dessert areas. The hot food area has kofta. Yum! I felt like being in Istanbul all over again. I also figured out that it sells my favourite dessert, osmalieh. My boyfriend advised that it means Ottoman. I bought some potato beef chaps. They are small, but mighty tasty. I also got some mini hot dog pies. I love hot dogs. He does not. An hour later, we were chatting over the phone. When I told him that I had bought a box, I could picture him rolling his eyes. He knows that I love eating them and do not eat them daily. I am coming back to this place again. I have been to Adonis numerous of time and always have a good experience. It is always fun to browse around and great to get some imported Middle Eastern condiments or groceries that not available in other main stream Supermarkets. Pita bread made in house and definitely intriguing to watch that machine pumping out all these pita bread on conveyor belt. And the in house bakery also has a lot of sweets which are sold by weight. Adonis won't be my regular grocery store but it is nice to come here to get inspiration or to pick up some Middle Eastern ingredients. read more

If you want to get fleeced this is the place to be. They have raised their prices by 30% to 50% in response to the Coronavirus. Theses are scumbags. An alternative, to purchase Middle Eastern food, is a store called ARZ. Normally ARZ is more expensive than Adonis, however, since their prices remain relatively the same, they are now the cheaper option. My husband and I heard great things about this shop. It was much more than we expected. There were all kinds of things I have never seen before in a grocery store but, my very favourite thing was a white garlic spread. It was located over by the hummus area. We also observed fresh pita bread being made. All kinds of nuts and seeds to try. All kinds of Mediterranean type foods. They have a hot food section or premade foods. This was all pre Covid. The staff were very helpful and everyone had a smile. The store is very clean. I can not wait to go back and discover more foods that I have never tried before. read more

It was good in the past but the quality has gone down. The fruits are not as good and prices are much higher. Rarely they have fresh vegetables and the meat prices have gone off the roof. I used to go there for freshly made pita breads but for almost 2 months their machine is broken and every week they say next week will be fixed. Died and gone to heaven. Wallet however, to hell. Adonis is the best Middle Eastern super market hands down, no other store comes close. It's an all in one, one stop shop. You've got an excellent cheese counter, olive counter, raw meats, cooked meats, seafood, bakery and desserts counter, a hot table, a cold table, and the list goes on. This is all in addition to a regular store that has one of the largest selections of fresh produce i've seen in Toronto. The best part? All at amazing prices. The space is very large, about 15 to 20k square feet. Price wise, I haven't seen cheaper prices on fresh produce (and keep in mind, that section alone is about 40% of the store) and food/meats wise, very reasonable. The seafood section is extremely fresh as well. Everyone's got their favourite, so if you live further away, stop by when you can and stock up. I'm obsessed with their lahem machun (meat pies) and marinated chicken shawarma strips. Desserts wise, best walk away if you're on a diet because the selection will definitely make you go overboard. read more

I come here for the meat and fresh baklavas. Ordering the meat directly to the butcher is no-nonsense, better-know-what-you-want type of interaction. Good for specific meat mixes or ways of cutting. But longer wait time. They also provide pre-cut packages of meat you can buy off the shelf with the price already on it. Their rose-pistachio baklavas are probably the freshest and tastiest I've come across in the GTA yet. They also have some selections of other ethnic packaged goods, not only middle eastern. Best of all words in one place. But prices aren't as great as No Frills/Walmart for those and fresh produce. read more

I'm going to start off by saying a produce employee was the most friendly and helpful guy, ever. He recommended some new things to try, pointed out specials, and made us feel very welcome. Heck, I think my husband and I were the only Asians in the grocery store! Did that have something to do with it? If it did or not, he should be employee of the month regardless. Adonis=Mediterranean T&T. There were some really great specials throughout the store. There's a pita making facility you can just watch them go along a conveyor belt which was pretty cool. The bakery section had rows and rows of sweets, it seemed never-ending. There's a cooked food section in the back with plenty of proteins and salads to choose from. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. read more

I first discovered Adonis in Montreal and I was happy to see one open in Toronto. Adonis is a Middle-Eastern supermarket. It's very big and clean. I love how they make their pitas right in store and you can see them being made in a glassed off area (conveyor belts and all - just like out of an episode of "How it's Made"). They are obviously very fresh and they are delicious. They are $1 a bag. They have lots of prepared foods. I've tried their cheese and spinach rolls, as well as samosas and kibbe, which are all about $1 each. All very tasty (although also very greasy and calorie-laden). They also have shawarma, falafel, lamb ouzi, and more substantial meals. Their sweets are delicious. Very sweet and very rich. I love their Znoud El Sett ($1.99) - which are like spring rolls filled with cream. The outside is phyllo pastry, so crispy, and the inside is the richest and thickest cream ever. They have lots of different types of baklava too. Now just to warn some people, I saw some things there that freaked me out a bit: veal brains and goat testicles. If you like these things, then you can find them here. If you don't, then just do what I do: hang around the prepared foods and dessert areas and don't venture into the raw meats department, lol. They have a small dining area where you can go to eat the prepared meals. There's lots of free parking too. read more

I picked 2 x1 litre bottles of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice from Adonis last night. Decided to have some for breakfast this morning. I realized there was something in there that looked a bit odd.. zoomed in a noticed it's a bug with red eyes. I'm grossed out and utterly disappointed. Last time there was mould in their bread and now this. They're fresh food section should be CLOSED DOWN. read more

Adonis - Bug in my fresh juice - Grocery Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Another lovely, cheap seafood meal. I got two mackerels grilled and six whitings fried. That was two separate platters. It came with two whole wheat pitas placed under the fish, three whole deep fried pitas, three sides of hummus, and four lemons sliced into halves. I also got 1lb of cold, roasted veggies (zucchini, assorted bell peppers, and eggplant). The fish platters cost me just under $20 before tax and the veggies cost me $4 before tax. This was dinner for my parents and me, and we had a whole mackerel, two whiting, assorted pitas, hummus, lemons, and veggies left over. For a dinner that came to about $8/person before tax, that was a lot of food. It was also done really well. The mackerel was super juicy and the whiting heads were crispy enough that I basically just ate the entire head without spitting out anything but the eyeballs. Yeah, I'm that kind of person. Oh. I also got a mango juice from the drink section right across from the prepared food section. It was $0.99 and tasted like mangoes. I also got a basil seed drink that was quite pink. Rose flavored, supposedly. It tasted exactly the way Vitamin E Body Butter from the Body Shop smells, and has almost an aloe vera juice texture. I quite enjoyed it. It was also $0.99. For dessert, I picked up a creme brulee for $3.49. My mom has a thing for creme brulee, but it is not cheap, so when I saw this one, I had to get it. It came in a ceramic dish the size of a CD. The ceramic dish was included in that price. The creme brulee custard was super creamy. It also was not too sweet. The sugar crust could have been crispier, but I understand that because it was not made fresh, it is hard to expect much more than what I got. This was a great deal though! I most certainly will get this again. Adonis is now one of my favorite places to get a seafood meal. Mmmmm. Side note: I've ordered seafood to be cooked three times now over the last two months or so, and one of the men at the seafood counter recognizes me. He still doesn't know my name, but we can work on that. read more

Living downtown, I'm not used to such spacious supermarkets, nevermind spacious specialty supermarkets! This place is huge, bright, and clean. Signs could be a bit clearer for what is in each aisle, but the staff are always around and can point you in the right direction. Produce can be hit and miss (some really cool, exotic offerings but some stuff does not look that fresh) but everything else I've tried so far has been great. I especially love their selection of cheeses and nuts. The prices are surprisingly cheap if you are used to shopping at downtown Loblaws!! Don't miss the freshly made pita bread, baklava, hummus, and prepared foods. Very tasty and affordable for a quick lunch or takeout dinner. I recently tried the chicken shawarma sandwich and the garlic-y sauce/hot sauce combo was perfect. There are tables and cutlery at the front of the store, in case you can't wait until you go home to eat! read more

I'm leaving my second review as I was at Adonis in Scarborough back on June 18/21 in the evening...again I came home with a massive abundance of meats, healthy breads, olive oils, and spices...I admire how hard the staff all work... especially the Deli and Meat Section staff...when I was at the cashier checkout I was so happy with the nice lady cashier names NAZ. She was so friendly and helpful and a wonderful person to talk to. I hope NAZ will be considered for a promotion. read more
