Wow a shiny new specialty kosher grocery store right at Promenade mall and right underneath the newly built condos above. Now I have to agree with the previous reviews that price is on the premium end, but it's to be expected. There are around 10 grocery stores in this 5km radius, so this area is not short on options at various price points but not many aiming for the high end price point. While I'm not the target customer, I can appreciate the Jewish community having more options. It's only been open for a month or so and I see it's already bustling on a weekday lunch hour. The produce and meats are a bit expensive as expected since it's kosher though they do look super fresh to me. What would likely get me coming back is there bakery section with all those tempting pastries and fresh out of the oven challah bread! If you're in a pinch you can get a reusable large jar of soup for $8. They even have an area dedicated to dairy free cakes which are also Yoshon (I had to look it up - which is made with grains that are grown (rooted) before Passover of the previous year). It looks like significant improvement to the experience from the first reviews when they just opened. They readily let you try samples of their pizza by the pizza oven and the shelves are look to be fully stocked. They also have a ready-to-eat section which seems quite busy as staff scooping out for customers in line. Trays look to be mostly emptied out. The aesthetic of the store looks sleek, even the conveyor belt to grab your grocery after you paid has gold trims. The floors with marble-like pattern really adds to the high-end feel. They also have a large dedicated customer service area as well. A lively atmosphere as I see many families shopping with their kids as well. Also learned that if you download their app, 1% of your purchase goes to a charity of your choice. I wish they just auto donated without us downloading another app.... as my phone is already filled to the brim.

Finally made a visit to the new kosher market at Promenade Mall. Located in the space where the Sears was many moons ago Olive Branch is a fully Kosher supermarket. It took a while for it to actually open and even then it was only accessible via the new entrance outside the mall. The mall entrance finally opened recently. I would consider this a 'specialty' food store and was fully expecting prices to be on the higher side and like any supermarket some items were priced higher (ie fresh meat) and some items were comparable to other stores. A whole cooked kosher rotisserie chicken was 14.99, package of small cucumbers was 2.99, blueberries were on sale for 1.99 (6 oz box), family size box of Rice Krispies were 5.49 which is the regular price at some mainstream stores. You will pay more for meat and seafood as well as other items. They have a whole aisle dedicated to boxed candy, not specialty candy...just regular gum balls, chocolate etc, prices varied here but did seem on the higher side. Really good selection of fresh baked goods and there was a sushi section and hot table. Prices here did not seem unreasonable. Renovations to the store were very nice and it was a pleasant shopping experience. Only complaint was that the store was FREEZING! It did not go unnoticed that all the staff were wearing their winter coats while working. Also...they offer plastic bags at checkout!

Let me start by saying, I really wanted to like this place more. This is a new kosher grocery store that recently opened in Promenade Mall. Unfortunately, I can't say the produce section was all that impressive, and the prices were similar to Loblaws' -- definitely on the high side. I've seen kosher prices at other butchers in the area, and this place was still noticeably overpriced. Despite the store's opening being severely delayed (from summer to fall), there were still many empty fridges and shelves, and some of the organization didn't make sense -- like, why are there random sweets placed next to disposable plates? The bakery and hot food section redeemed some of what had been lacking in the grocery section. But hello, this is a grocery store... If this store aims to have a "fancy" feel with matching pricing, it really should have been better prepared. Maybe things will be better in a few weeks/months.

I needed to pick up a few grocery items, so dropping by Food World Supermarket afterwards was perfect. This building used to Rose Garden Banquet and Convention. I'm guessing that due to the pandemic, this business suffered and shut down. There is plenty of parking in front and around this supermarket. I backed into a spot and walked in. The doors automatically open, which is wonderful. This supermarket is located across from Burger King. I often frequent it when I crave a flame-broiled burger. Both are in the same plaza as Wok of Asia. It's clean and cheerful when you first walk in. You see cases of pop and sparking water. The produce section then greets you. I needed avocados and celery. Prices are either comparable to what you see at grocery stores like No Frills, but the quality is better. Both produce items that I grabbed were fresh and in great condition. This grocery store carries halal items. It features a lot of South Asian products, such as Parle-G and paratha. You also see ramen and Ribena, both of which made me love shopping at this store even more. I saw everything from custard to paneer. It does sell corned beef in cans and rose water in glass bottles. Cool! The meat section is impressive. It's huge with every cut of meat that you can possibly think of. You can get food to go. There's a stall within the supermarket where you can get pizza, shawarma, and more. I paid for my produce. The woman at the checkout was extremely pleasant and nice. I paid with my debit card. This store gives you a plastic bag. I thanked her and headed to the exit. Just before you exit, there's a stall that sells desserts, ice cream, drinks, and more. I asked the woman behind the counter whether their drinks have added sugar. They don't. The store goes with the natural sweetness of their fruit or veggies. I wanted to get the sugar cane and coconut hydrating beverage. She had run out of coconut, so I got a large sugar cane drink. As she made my drink, I looked at the desserts display. There were individual portions of chocolate mousse cake and sponge cakes. You can also get milkshakes, ice cream, and more. She asked whether I wanted ice in my sugar cane drink. I said as much as the cup could fit the ice. It was perfect on a hot day. I asked the nice woman how long this supermarket has been open for. It opened on May 18th. I paid with my debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and left with my groceries and drink. The sugarcane was indeed the real deal. It was naturally sweet and yummy. I was happy with my drink. It was nice consuming it as I drove home. Whenever I was in the area to grab some dinner, there was never a supermarket close by to get a few grocery items. It's definitely more convenient now thanks to this Food World. (174)

I was going to a Yelp elite event recently and had a bit of time to spare. I needed to get some celery and popped by this Longo's, which happens to be steps away from where the event was. It hit me that I drank too much hot tea at work and my bladder needed some attention. This store has two washrooms. The one that I visited was clean and nicely stocked. I then hit the produce aisle. Sure, prices at Longo's tend to be higher than at No Frills. However, the produce is super fresh at this store. It took my breath away. It was almost as if a produce photo shoot was about to happen, but it's really how it looks daily. The craziest discovery was looking at the huge brussel sprouts at this store. It's like someone fed them steroids. I held one on my hand and it felt like I was about to change a light bulb. It was insanely huge! I was admiring the Daiya line of dairy-free cheezecakes. I also loved seeing my beloved Portuguese egg tarts at the bakery. Some specialty items included parm crisps. If you don't have time to make your own, you have two varieties at this store to pick up and enjoy. I also had fun looking at Holy Crap breakfast cereal. Although it was priced at $11 a bag, I polled a few of my friends, including one of my interns, who all said that it's delicious. I love when I learn about a product and it ends up being yummy! The cashier was great. I paid for my celery and happily walked out with it to my car. It was nice being back at this grocery store. I need to visit it more often. It's awesome. (86)

Coppa's seems to be a local grocery chain with only three locations nearby Toronto - North York, Scarborough and King City. The aisles are wide, the space is clean, fruits, vegetables, meat seem fresh and produce neatly stacked together. They have a huge butcher section, bakery aisle, prepared foods and more. It was not busy at all Sunday late afternoon. Many times it felt like a private grocery shopping experience. Unlike Chinatown, Walmart, Costco and other chains, where sometimes you would feel like your groceries are all picked on. The prices are moderate and pretty reasonable overall. I mostly purchased fresh produce so didn't notice the prices of the packaged goods. They don't tend to stock inhouse cheap brands, like No Name and Great Value but all moderate priced brands. There seem to be deals to be had like broccoli and flour on sale. The 2.5kg Robinhood flour bag was cheaper than even Walmart. I would've wanted a 5kg bag but it was sold out. Though I would say the butter was quite expensive, $7 was the cheapest option, and it was their own Coppa-branded butter, which was just one block, not even divided into sticks. The next alternative is $8 for premium Country-churned with pre-packaged sticks. Was a bit of a splurge for two blocks. I wonder if I would be able to taste the difference between cheap and expensive butter. If I'm in the area again I'll like to try their baked goods next.
