If I buy anything I buy these 2 (fresh bread & eggplant dip)
Vivian W.

My go to Iranian takeout spot! Maybe this is just new to me- but this supermarket got a new makeover & is looking nice! I don't really come here to shop for groceries (occasionally I'll buy their freshly made bread & kashk e bademjoon-an eggplant dip) I mainly come here for their "food court" style/takeout. I love that they are always grilling meats to order and right in front of you too (you order & see the raw skewers get cooked right away) the Koobideh and Vaziri Kebab platters are my go tos & are super filling! If you're feeling fancy adding extra $ to substitute to dill rice is honestly the way to go! Sometimes they're feeling extra nice & will throw in some crispy rice for me which I love! Staff have always treated me friendly even though I just speak to them in English and I'm obv not Iranian lol they're always giving me big smiles because they're happy to see that I truly love Iranian food! Easy, grab & go Iranian food concept with a lot of options! My rule of thumb is if you see a bunch of Persian families ordering lots from here it's prob an authentic place. Won't disappoint!

This place never disappoints. Their food is fresh and you can do your groceries while you wait. It's not a sit down place but the food will last you for couple of meals. The plaza has parking available. But on a busy day it can get a bit congested. The food is always fresh!

The reason for me not recommending Khorak is very obvious as there's lots of discrimination since I do not speak their language they treat people like me very badly and very rudely. I just went there today and I bought myself Bhagali Polo Shank and couple of other things. First of all the lady who is serving me did not know how to take my order. Since my order was not what I expected I confronted the lady who is in charge of this section. Oh my god!!! She was so rude as I didn't like the way my Shank was given. The lady was giving me the Shank with curry in the same box with rice in it. And that too in a therma ball box and when I insisted she gave me the curry in thermal ball box where as I protested saying the curry will fall but she didn't listen . I told her that I need it separately instead of giving it to me and she started to throwing her temper tantrum and instead of giving it to me in a proper plastic container forcefully give it to me in a thermal ball and myself and by the time I reached home and when I open the foil in which she had wrapped half of the curry had fallen and only little bit of curry was left and she was constantly ignoring what I was trying to explain to her and she was murmuring all throughout in Persian and I don't know what she was saying. I had the worst experience and I would request everyone reading who doesn't speak Farsi to refrain from going to this store.

Pomegranates - a super food, nutritious

Truly a "super" market. A grocery store, a butcher, baker and candle stick maker.. well, maybe not the last part. The butcher and baker part is true. Various fresh meat option. Halal I believe. Amazing breads and pastries. Restaurant that offers delicious Persian cuisine too. Mostly for take-out. There are a few tables for folks like us who had to eat right then and there. Loved the grilled chicken breast and beef kabob with saffron rice. Reasonable prices for homemade entrees, and large portions. Being that we could not bring fresh fruits, vegetables or meats back into the US from Canada, we did not purchase any. But boy did those pomegranates look even more tempting! Red, shiny and beautiful to even just look at! Maybe Eve tempted Adam with a pomegranate? This is a fun shopping experience. A taste of all things Persian.

OMG!! It is hard to believe that Super Khorak is open 24/7!! Imagine in the middle of the night, you need to get some of those Persian sweets for someone dear or you just want to cook up some lamb (Chops, head & legs, whatever!) There is this exciting vibes inside Super Khorak.. remind me of marketplaces in smaller villages... you got to see the bakers, the butchers and the cooks... The hot food takeout is great value... $7.99 gave you tons of rice, meat and a can of pop! :) Taste wise is A-OK... Super Khorak for sure is place to go if you want to have a taste of Persian food and their culture.

I come here for the amazing variety of groceries, fresh baked bread and Persian sweets and nuts. It's all of the best foods of Iran under one roof - how can you not love it? Most of the other reviews here are for take-out food from Khorak, but I'm going to stick to reviewing the supermarket itself. The store was fully renovated & expanded in 2017. It is still a relatively small grocery by Canadian standards, but it is really nice, bright and open now. First things first, go straight to the back to pick up some fresh bread from the bakery. They bake it in a stone pit, and make 3 types of bread, fresh. You take the large piece of bread then cut it with a knife to fit whatever bag/container you want to take it home in. Exactly like they've done in Tehran for centuries. If you're picking up a gift for the host of a party, the traditional thing to get would be a box of desserts, like cream puffs (noon khamei) and rollette. These are pastries made popular during a time when the French influence was strong in Iran, so they are essentially French pastries (shhh don't tell anyone I told you that) & they are the most fluffy delicious amazing things. There are always new types of berries and plums here that I've never seen elsewhere. Iranians love sour things! Try the fruit concentrates that fill up 1 entire aisle, those make amazing mixed drinks (flavors like sour cherry, sour green grape, lavender, 7 flowers, orange blossom, etc.) Don't forget the dried fruits and nuts too, near checkout. Walnuts & pistachios are a staple in Persian cuisine, and these are the best nut mixes. There are a dozen small tables near the exit, so you can eat on the spot if you picked up a hot meal here. The parking lot is always crowded, and the spaces are tight. But that's par for the course on busy Yonge street.

Bookmarked Khorak Supermarket recently and was suddenly craving Persian food, so we decided to head on over. The supermarket is great: we were first greeted by a really nice employee, asking us if we would like to try a samples of warm soup (which were delicious!). We then went on to the hot station to order a chicken and beef combo with basmati rice. We were told to come back in 10 minutes time. We walked around the establishment and it was neat and tidy. The produce looked fresh (we picked up a few oranges) and they had a gentleman making flatbread on site. The flatbreads for sale were still warm! We finally went to pick up our order and sat in the small seating area they had for eating. The portion was quite large for its price, the chicken was juicy and the beef was plenty. Overall, we were both happy and would very likely return to this establishment!

I've been coming to Super Khorak for YEARS and even though I don't live anywhere near this store, it is the only place I buy my basmati rice and saffron from... the good stuff... the locked-up-behind-the-counter-stuff. You know the stuff. I've tried saffron from other places and they just can't compete. When it's time to replenish our rice supply, we pop in here and usually pick up dinner as well. The food is 'okay'... definitely NOT the best Koobideh I've had, which is unfortunate considering that they're right in the thick of Persian town. The rice is fine but the meat is underseasoned and overcooked leaving it quite dry and just sorta... blah. It's getting harder and harder to find really good Koobideh without having to go to a proper sit-down restaurant. Super Khorak serves it's purpose but if could find Lal Qilla rice closer to me, I probably wouldn't come here anymore. Overall, 2.5 stars... 3 stars for the market part. 2 stars for the food.

Koobideh kebab. Half rice half salad. Heaven.

Seen this place transform from their old, not so tidy to their updated and more refreshed appearance. Compared to other grocery stores I still find No Frills chains the most affordable one. I can get my grass fed steaks here not ripping off my budget. They offer some organic stuff too, though its limited. The produce is alright you'll find good ones specially when they are fully stocked. Its great that this location is so diversed that they cater products from different background. They have the aisle for Kosher products, aisle for International foods and Halal meats and so on. I don't miss swinging by the Natural Food aisle. I'm glad that most of my stuff I use they have it here. This location don't offer yet the self checkout corner, seen some places they have it already but this one, you'll do the traditional queuing to cash out. I guess that's better, meaning more people are still employed than a machine. The people who works in this location is always approachable. You see them sweeping, stacking or putting away stuffs they will always throw you a smile and happy to assist you. Location is just at the intersection of Bathurst and Wilson just around the corner with TD bank beside it, which also they share space for parking.

This Food Basics occupies a good portion of the second floor. I was here to hit the food court. The stall with fried soup baos and wonton soup is my favourite. Nanashake used to also be here, but it closed. Soul Made has taken over this stall. Because I was here for food court takeout, I needed a place to park. I normally park out on the street and pay through my Green P app. I did something different and parked in the underground lot. You can get complimentary parking for 45 minutes if you go up to Food Basics. Locate a standalone kiosk where you register your car's licence plate for 45 minutes of free parking. It was an easy process and such a nice gesture. If you do need more time, you are urged to use the Honk app (I'd assume that you can also do it through a browser) and pay for more parking time. I didn't need extra time. Instead, I did a quick look at this store before I left. It's a decent grocery store. It's bright and nicely organized. The produced looked fresh, especially the lettuce and celery. There were a bunch of cashiers working the checkout area. I was there mid-afternoon and there was a decent stream of shoppers hitting this store. I didn't need to get groceries, but I enjoyed popping in to briefly browse. I look forward to going back and shopping here, especially with complimentary parking. The trend these days is to have grocery stores built in to a high rise condo or building. It seems to work nicely to have this Food Basics on the second floor. I like the change coming here than hitting my local standalone one in suburbia. (329)

I needed to pick up a few grocery items, so dropping by Food World Supermarket afterwards was perfect. This building used to Rose Garden Banquet and Convention. I'm guessing that due to the pandemic, this business suffered and shut down. There is plenty of parking in front and around this supermarket. I backed into a spot and walked in. The doors automatically open, which is wonderful. This supermarket is located across from Burger King. I often frequent it when I crave a flame-broiled burger. Both are in the same plaza as Wok of Asia. It's clean and cheerful when you first walk in. You see cases of pop and sparking water. The produce section then greets you. I needed avocados and celery. Prices are either comparable to what you see at grocery stores like No Frills, but the quality is better. Both produce items that I grabbed were fresh and in great condition. This grocery store carries halal items. It features a lot of South Asian products, such as Parle-G and paratha. You also see ramen and Ribena, both of which made me love shopping at this store even more. I saw everything from custard to paneer. It does sell corned beef in cans and rose water in glass bottles. Cool! The meat section is impressive. It's huge with every cut of meat that you can possibly think of. You can get food to go. There's a stall within the supermarket where you can get pizza, shawarma, and more. I paid for my produce. The woman at the checkout was extremely pleasant and nice. I paid with my debit card. This store gives you a plastic bag. I thanked her and headed to the exit. Just before you exit, there's a stall that sells desserts, ice cream, drinks, and more. I asked the woman behind the counter whether their drinks have added sugar. They don't. The store goes with the natural sweetness of their fruit or veggies. I wanted to get the sugar cane and coconut hydrating beverage. She had run out of coconut, so I got a large sugar cane drink. As she made my drink, I looked at the desserts display. There were individual portions of chocolate mousse cake and sponge cakes. You can also get milkshakes, ice cream, and more. She asked whether I wanted ice in my sugar cane drink. I said as much as the cup could fit the ice. It was perfect on a hot day. I asked the nice woman how long this supermarket has been open for. It opened on May 18th. I paid with my debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and left with my groceries and drink. The sugarcane was indeed the real deal. It was naturally sweet and yummy. I was happy with my drink. It was nice consuming it as I drove home. Whenever I was in the area to grab some dinner, there was never a supermarket close by to get a few grocery items. It's definitely more convenient now thanks to this Food World. (174)

The aisles are wide, the space is clean, fruits, vegetables, meat seem fresh and produce neatly stacked together. They have a huge butcher section, bakery aisle, prepared foods and more. It was not busy at all Sunday late afternoon. Many times it felt like a private grocery shopping experience. Unlike Chinatown, Walmart, Costco and other chains, where sometimes you would feel like your groceries are all picked on. The prices are moderate and pretty reasonable overall. I mostly purchased fresh produce so didn't notice the prices of the packaged goods. They don't tend to stock inhouse cheap brands, like No Name and Great Value but all moderate priced brands. There seem to be deals to be had like broccoli and flour on sale. The 2.5kg Robinhood flour bag was cheaper than even Walmart. I would've wanted a 5kg bag but it was sold out. Though I would say the butter was quite expensive, $7 was the cheapest option, and it was their own Coppa-branded butter, which was just one block, not even divided into sticks. The next alternative is $8 for premium Country-churned with pre-packaged sticks. Was a bit of a splurge for two blocks. I wonder if I would be able to taste the difference between cheap and expensive butter. If I'm in the area again I'll like to try their baked goods next.
