Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a business OWNER (Dave), that's the sad part. I would like to preface this by saying the 2 movers THAT ACTUALLY STAYED, were really great and I hate that this might affect them but people have got to be warned. Called for quote firstly and I had another quote from someone else for a one day move. Dave's quote was considerably lower and the reviews were alright so I called. First he asked me if he could come back me up 5 WHOLE DAYS before I was to move and then come back and move me; I told him I would use the other company because I would rather have it done all in one day and Dave insisted they could do it all in one day. He said he would send me 3 movers and a truck. They were supposed to arrive between 8-9, mind you, they were doing all the packing and everything I was moving on short notice and could not do it beforehand. They didn't get there until 10 which is fine, no problem ... DAVE was the third mover, I was in my bedroom with my dog and my friend packing up my room bathroom etc. I come out 1 hr later and Dave is gone. Still have no idea why he left but I ended being the third mover which I was not prepared to do on a 100 degree day!! Dave was supposed to pack ALL misc items while the guys got the big furniture. Since my office had been packed I had no way to label my boxes (which I paid them to do in the first place!!) So when we arrive at the new home the guys pile everything downstairs except for the furniture. I have a bad back and I cannot carry stuff up the stairs that's the whole reason I spent almost 2000 dollars!!! I still have all boxes in my living room and I'm having to unpack them downstairs and take things separately up the stairs. If I was going to do all this I would have rather done it all myself. He quoted me one price for 8 hours, when we got done in 6 hours the price was still the same. I tried to ask the guys there but they were having to call him so I just said I would call on Monday. (Sidenote my printer is broken Monday morning and I work from home) when I called to report the damage and ask for a partial refund since I had to do the work that HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO his exact response was we didn't make you do that. If me and my friend wouldn't have done it we would have been moving literally all day and it's was so hot. I was quoted a price for 3 movers and a truck and he decided to leave and now everything changes???? He told me I could take him to small claims court which I plan to do because I GOT TIME TODAY I will do everything I can to ruin his business name and affect his pockets EVEN more! Obviously poor money management is the issue if he's so hungry for money yet not willing to do any work. Just leaving those guys there and putting it all on them and YOU ARE THE OWNER?!?! What a poor example for leadership. I can only imagine his cores and values Bad Karma always comes back though. Moving to yelp and every other platform I can to leave a bad review! When the owner of a business hangs up on you for asking why the movers can't confirm an already 48 hours delayed unload date - I would prefer to recommend other movers in the area. It's not too much to ask that someone treat a customer with respect when she's attempting to confirm a pressed deadline and the fact that I continue to call instead of being updated regularly is a shame. I'll be glad to update my review when the owner issues a personal apology for his unbelievably unprofessional behavior. Hanging up is incredibly elementary behavior. Do better. If people want confirmation happy to share my paperwork and my delivery date details - if my stuff ever arrives. I am growing more and more concerned about the delivery actually happening on Sunday. Total aside, when asking to speak to the owner or a supervisor for him hanging up on me - "Well unfortunately ma'am you're talking to him." I do not believe this company is qualified for cross country moves. I believe they had trouble finding a driver and that's the reason for the initial delay which was two days ago as the original delivery day. UPDATE My things have arrived 3 days late. The truck showed up with one mover and no equipment to move the things off the truck (dolly etc). The mover asked me where he could find dispensaries for weed the night before. Incredibly professional after I had to send him hotel recommendations (because I'm google and the owner didn't volunteer that assistance). Wow. Just wow. Again - NOT a cross country moving service. I recently moved from Bessemer, Al to Centre,Al. I have absolutely no experience with moving. I contacted David at Metro movers in Vestavia. He walked me through the entire process. They arrived at my house in Bessemer exactly on time. Loaded my furniture and even a large plant. Disassembled a very large bed. Were very careful not to damage anything. They arrived at our destination minutes after we did, unloaded everything and placed it where I wanted it. Reassembled the bed all without even a scratch on my hardwood floors. The men were courteous and professional. All of this at a most reasonable price. I could not have asked for more, they were awesome. I have recommended them to all of my friends. Amatures, avoid at all cost! I had read all the positive reviews and they seemed to be a good bet. I was qouted a window of 1-3pm on a Saturday. Finally after numerous text message throughout the day from the owner citing delays he advised at 8pm that he would be unable to keep his appointment and would have to move me on Monday instead (I was unavailable on Monday). I had spent the entire day sitting around a packed up apartment waiting for them to arrive only to have nothing happen. Total waste of my time. I do see it as a blessing in disguise as if your not professional enough to keep appointments I can only wonder how they would have been with moving my valuables. read more

We were moving out of state from Birmingham on an extremely short notice. I called up 5 or 6 movers and 4 of them visited my place and offered quotes. I was immediately impressed with David's way of doing things and he handily beat the price of the other quotes. He accommodated all my custom requirements, like having to haul a car and having to get started without actually having a destination address. I just knew the area I was going and I didn't finalize on the apartment at the time. Given that price was reasonable, and he was super nice I was little bit anxious on how the move was going to go. If he was going to bring last minute surprises or not deliver it on time etc. thanks to some super bad experience with previous movers. On the move date, he showed up on time, super tidy with packing and arranging and delivered my stuff on time some 800 miles away after 2 days. Again, on the delivery date no complaints about the drive ways, stairs etc. just calmly and professionally delivered my stuff. He is as nice a guy as one would hope to find to handle your move. What you see is what you get with him. No gimmicks, no last minute price hikes and no hassle at the destination.. I recently hired Metro Movers for a long distance move from a 2nd floor loft in downtown Birmingham to Northeast GA. They were fantastic! They arrived right on time to load my furniture. I had them booked for a Saturday move and when I arrived at my apartment my property management company hadn't change my locks. I had a phenomenal experience moving from Montgomery to Birmingham with Metro Movers. David was quick to respond to all of my emails (even on a holiday weekend) and a pleasure to coordinate with. We were scheduled to move at 9 am and the team showed up at 8:15, so there wasn't any waiting around. All three movers were a pleasure to work with and treated my things with care. They wrapped furniture and my paintings; the latter of which I especially appreciated. There weren't any hidden fees. My family has moved a great deal (more than twenty times between the four of us) and my mom agreed that the price was about half of what she would have expected given the volume of the move. But much worse than that, when given numerous opportunities to right the wrongs inflicted on my family's belongings, the owner of the company, David Hodge, showed his true colors. Ever. *DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY* See attached photos of *some* of the damage Metro Movers' savage amateurs inflicted on our belongings. - 4.5 HOURS LATE for move - destroyed landscaping, sprinkler heads, and planters on driveway before even exiting the moving truck - dropped (multiple times!), threw, crashed, scratched, broke, scraped, and dragged precious antiques, boxes of carefully packed china and crystal, dishes, upholstery, mirrors, electronics, etc. - set finished wood furniture down on cement; several pieces have to be refinished or painted - so rough with boxes, they even dented and smashed CANNED FOODS packed inside, which in turn leaked all over other things! - boxes crashed through and BROKE BOOKCASES on truck - LOST expensive dryer parts that we had to reorder from distributor - movers brought no water and asked us for food during the move - movers stopped on stairs, set down furniture to check TEXTS and SNAPS during move ** When informed in writing about all the damage, owner DAVID HODGE promised we would receive a partial refund (our move cost $3,000+) in 7-10 days. After almost TWO MONTHS of giving us the runaround (said it would be in the mail; said he'd run it by our house; said he'd run it by place of employment, etc.), we've given up on ever seeing any of the damage paid for. Man, I wanted to give these guys a good review. After seeing the all positive reviews, getting a Yelp discount and learning they wouldn't charge any extra for moving an upright piano (which is hard to find!) I was thinking we hit the jackpot. We were moving to Atlanta and into a storage unit for a bit so hired 3 guys to pack up our UHaul. Our truck was delayed and David kindly worked around our new pick up time, but the packers still arrived an hour later than stated. The movers were kind, efficient and respectful, but packed our heavy items on top of other things in the back of the truck. We discovered this as our Atlanta movers unpacked the truck into the storage unit as 2 broken table chairs and 1 broken baby crib were left in the dumpster. My husband immediately called David to report the ruined items with no answer on the call, but a quick text back saying he would refund us $300 which we definitely appreciated! That was on June 2nd. On the 6th we still hadn't seen a refund and asked where it was. On the 10th, $200 of it was credited back to our card. After a couple more days we asked where the missing $100 was. David said he would have to send a check as he couldn't put more back on our card (weird)...nothing shows up in the mail. David said on June 17th the check was on it's way. It is now July 9th, still no check, and David has quit answering our texts and messages. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and would recommend to those in the Birmingham area to deal with another company. read more
