If I could leave negative stars, I honestly would. Our experience at Metro Dog was deeply upsetting, and after several months of taking my dog here on and off (at times, every day) I can confidently say we will never return. Several times after attending daycare, my dog came home with issues that later turned into infections. Each time required a vet visit that cost us over $600. While I understand that things can happen in group-care environments, having this happen several times was alarming. What ultimately made the decision for us, though, was the staff interaction. On one pickup, an older woman who helped me was shockingly rude. When she brought my dog out, she handled him in a way that made me extremely uncomfortable: raising her voice, tugging harshly on his collar, and giving commands he was never trained to understand. Watching him shrink back and look terrified broke my heart. Over time, he began coming home withdrawn, low-energy, sick and just not his happy self. Almost every visit left us feeling uneasy, and it eventually became clear that this environment simply wasn't right for him or any dog. A former staff member who later met my partner even shared that the workplace was full of animosity and overworked employees, which unfortunately aligned with what we had observed. We've since switched to Rover as needed and have had a completely different experience: much happier dog, much better communication, and far less stress for everyone involved. There are countless options here in Seattle! I truly wish our experience at Metro Dog had been better, but for us it was consistently unpleasant. If you value your dog's comfort and emotional wellbeing, I'd recommend exploring other options. read more

We've had a great experience taking our pup Zoey to Metro Dog over the last 5 months. I love that almost everyone remembered her name rather quickly and everyone is always very friendly. One of the best things for our little girl is they have an outdoor area they let the dogs out in when the weather is nice. They have a little pool that Zoey loves to play in so I'm glad she gets to have fun doing that. Another thing to mention is they have great extended hours. It's hard to find a doggy daycare that opens before 7AM and the fact that they open at 6:45AM is super helpful to make sure I get to work on time. read more

We left our dog with Metro Dog for 32 hours and we managed to have to take him to the vet for two separate issues the next day. 1) Our dog had a hot spot we were trying to have him avoid licking. We instructed staff to keep an eye out and if they were not able to stop him from licking to at least let us know if he was doing it. Staff did not notify us upon picking him up, nor stop him from licking, as we had to take him into the vet as the hot spot got infected. 2) Our dog also returned to our care with a limp. Upon examination it appeared that the skin on his paw pads was raw and torn up. The day we left him was hot and I imagine the staff did not attempt to protect the dogs' paw pads letting them run around. This is conjecture but, when we picked him up, we were not notified that anything was wrong, so we have to guess. The limping was clear as day. We tried to call them the next day to find out what happened, no answer. This is simply negligent. I truly hope this business gets investigated by the appropriate regulatory bodies to get them to clean their act up or to shut them down. Suffice it to say, please never leave your animal with these people. It's not worth the risk. read more

Had a health crisis over the weekend which turned quickly into an emergency surgery for my wife. Called Metro dog and they were able to pick up my dog Henry and keep him for a few days while we were at the hospital. Metro Dog is unlike other dog boarding facilities which are often exclusionary and not animal focussed. Metro has been wonderful, the staff is great, and the pickup/dropoff options extremely convenient. Give them a try instead of the usual Garden variety downtown options. read more

**They're open for daycare and boarding during this coronavirus madness!** I have loved Metro Dog for a long time, but now I loooooove Metro Dog. Let me tell you how they came through for me in a pinch and then I'll tell you why this is the only place I'll ever take my dog for boarding. I was two hours away from my place in downtown Seattle on May 30th when the looting started. Immediately, I got in my car and headed north. While listening to the radio, I learned that I5 north headed into Seattle was being shut down and that a 5pm curfew has been mandated. There was no way I was going to get to my pup (who was at Metro Dog for just the day) in time. I called Metro Dog and asked if I could leave my pup, Bailey, overnight instead. Immediately, the gentleman who answered the phone pulled up her file and confirmed how much food she gets and that he'd make sure to put a scoop of pumpkin on it, just like she likes. It was such a relief and I am beyond grateful. I generally hate being away from my dog, but it's so much easier to go on vacation now that I have Metro Dog in my life. Everyone who works there is so kind to the dogs and my pup always comes home happy and worn out. I've boarded her elsewhere before and have never felt comfortable leaving her until now. She gets plenty of attention and as much (or as little) interaction with other dogs as she likes. The staff there knows she's way more into people than dogs and they're super understanding when she puts herself in "time out" in the back away from the other dogs. If you're considering boarding or doing daycare at Metro Dog, don't hesitate. Your pooch will be safe and well cared for. read more

We have our two doggies, Luke and Eleanor, spend a full day of doggy daycare at MetroDog and were so impressed. The staff spent time with us getting to know each of our dog's needs and personalities beforehand since it was our first visit, and they filled us in afterward on how each of them did. We felt very comfortable knowing that they had genuinely watched and gotten to know our pups, and they also made sure that each of them got as much playtime as they wanted and needed. Metro Dog was a great resource during my two-week stay in Seattle. I've never done this as a tourist before, but I came to Seattle prepared to sign my dog up here for daycare during my visit. Metro Dog's website had all the sign-up instructions I needed. I brought vaccine records and had a very easy time setting up an initial evaluation (free) for my dog. My dog really enjoyed that trial day. What's more, I was very impressed by the thoroughness and attention paid to the evaluation. When I picked up my dog, we went over her report card. It was clear the staff observe and test all kinds of interactions in controlled ways to ensure the safety and comfort of a new dog and the pack (both overnight and day guests). Thanks to this thorough approach, I felt great about bringing my dog to daycare 3 or 4 times in one week. It was especially helpful for the climate-controlled option during a heat wave. Drop off, pick up and billing are all very efficient. I can see this is a well organized placed with very invested staff. From what I saw of their boarding drop-off procedure and online policies, it's certainly a place I would explore for overnight care as well. I come to Seattle at least once each year and I look forward to using Metro Dog again for daycare. read more

I used to work there and I witnessed how the staff were not concerned about the constant barking and heightened atmosphere created by the dogs. Sure enough, a few seconds later, a group of dogs started fighting. The water hose didn't work so could not break up the fight in time. Staff rushed to try and break them up, but it was too late. One of the dog's ears was bleeding, and they had to call the owner to pick up. It was an accident waiting to happen. The staff felt it was just normal, and didn't seem to care much. There had more than 50 dogs that day, and usually in Spring and Summer, they would have more than 100 dogs! I would not bring my own dog here to the daycare. read more

Our dog Cobe is the chillest, most mellow dog ever, and I honest to god believe that it is in large part due to the amazing care of Metro Dog to see to it that he gets to be a DOG!! He LOVES every second he spends at daycare. There's almost nowhere else that he gets SO excited to leave our car for, but when we get to MetroDog in the mornings, he assertively leads us up the stairs, and we can tell that he loves all of the staff. Not to mention, they clearly have bonded with him, too. I love that he gets to rough house a bit and then when he comes home, he is exhausted and sleeps happily for another day or so. My husband and I live in Lynnwood and yet we still regularly bring Cobe here on days when we're not working from home so that he can enjoy a full day of dog friends. read more

My dog loved this place. The people were very sweet although the burning Incense, air purifier, and the subtle smell of tobacco in the area of the front door baffled me because, honestly, what vet office or doggie daycare has an air purifier running constantly - 7 days a week - and who would smoke indoors in close vicinity to our furry kids? (Plus, it's illegal in Seattle. Just sayin'.) One morning I dropped my dog off mid-morning and the large lobby was filled with cigarette smoke. Filled. I mean, it was shocking. The folks at the desk sheepishly ran over to help. I did leave my dog there. An hour later a friend asked if I smoked because my clothes smelled. When I brought it up to the employee they denied it, even said it was "probably smoke that had wafted in from someplace outside." Believe me when I say the place smelled like a bar from the 70's on a Saturday night, and the lobby is adjacent to the room for small dogs. I sent letter to owner, never received a response. They just wouldn't admit it happened so I couldn't leave my dog there. I mean, just own the poor judgment! Nothing. I was sad because my dog enjoyed spending time here. read more

Unbiased review from a long-time customer. I have two dogs. The last 3 stays have been pretty bad. One of them my chihuahua came home with a cold that lasted 10 days and red eyes, and my GSD was so alert and afraid of sleeping that she spent two days sleeping sitting up. I thought, okay, perhaps the GSD was just being over-alert and the chihuahua unexpectedly developed a cold, which was always possible. During the next long stay (10 days) my GSD came home SO aggressive I couldn't believe it. We raised her to be super friendly b/c she looks menacing so we brought her up (since birth) to be a sweet dog, and she was, until that stay. Now she barks to dogs on the street, something she had never done before. But this last stay topped it all, the GSD came home bleeding. Mind you, Metro Dog never called to tell us she had an injury. My teenage daughter picked them up and was sobbing all the way home. The GSD had a swollen eye, a cut SUPER near the eye she could have been blinded, and ofc, again, extremely vigilant of everything. She peed herself when she saw my husband so happy she was to come home. Also, when I dropped her off last time I could tell the GSD did not want to go inside their building. This super young and unhelpful employee pulled her in with zero friendliness, so I went inside for the first time in a long time the place reeked of urine and I could only see one person taking care of what looked like a lot of dogs. I don't have enough word of gratitude towards Metro Dog and their entire staff. We were in Seattle for the day on July 5th a National Holiday... in order to sightsee and whatnot I needed a daycare for Olive & Tiki. The entire experience was positive form start to end 1. The guy over the phone was so nice and able to reserve my spot a week ahead even if we had not chance to do a prior meet and greet. 2. We were late (we got lost!) and the took the pups in without dramas 3. When we picked them up we got to ask questions and the lady who came to the door knew the dogs and told us all sorts of things about the experience. The dogs were happy, you could tell they had a good time and that the people there REALLY CARE! Thank you so much for being so awesome, we know Tiki can be a bit special :) but you guys did great! Wish you were here in Portland too! Before I found Metro Dog I called 9 other places, not one of them was helpful or even nice, when they learnt I would not be a recurrent client they rejected our application. So far I have been very impressed. They have a nice system for a trial day which is important because I know that they will not select any dogs that would be unsafe to others. They knew Harley was shy so slow introductions. Staff has been super friendly and kind. When I pick her up, she is clean and happy. I am excited about the fact that they offer a variety of services. I am currently using once a week daycare but definitely be using them for boarding when we travel. I feel so lucky to have them so close in my neighborhood. We have been bringing our Labrador puppy to MetroDog for a couple of months now (since she was 5 months old) and each time we pick her up she is really happy and appears to have been taken care of really well! She gets a lot of play time with different dogs as well as with the staff! We appreciate that they separate the pups for feedings - it shows they really care about them being able to digest before going out to play! Additionally, the staff are all incredibly friendly and seem to genuinely care about our pup as well as all of the pups that they are watching day and night. We recently brought our puppy for an overnight stay in preparation for leaving her there for a week while we were away on vacation and she did really well and the staff loved having her around, which put us at ease that she would be okay without us for a bit of time! Although there are no puppy cams to see what the dogs are up to, the staff are really great about replying to messages with updates whenever we ask! MetroDog is definitely our new favorite place for day long day care as well as overnight boarding! The difference between Metro Dog and all the other Dog Daycares are the staff. There is no other group of people that I would trust my dog with. One could say I am biased because I used to work there but I can say that it is BECAUSE I worked there that I know this is the best place to leave your dog. I've been behind the scenes! Jenn and Larry (the owners) are amazing people and they only hire the best employees for the job. Metro Dog is full of caring, attentive, passionate people. For example, Kathy. If you haven't met her set up a trial day! She is magic with dogs. I used to bring my elderly terrier mix to Metro Dog. In his last years he developed cancerous tumors and requires special needs and Metro Dog staff were very attentive to his needs. Being overly protective of him (crazy dog person here) Metro Dog was the only place I could bring him where I didn't need to worry. Now that he has passed we bring our new rescue dog to socialize her from time to time. The first thing I thought about after we adopted her is "I have to call Metro Dog!" We took our 2 lovely pups for the requisite meet & greet at Metro. They requested a fecal sample which we paid our vet for and provided to Metro. Of course, our kids were in perfect health! When I arrived, there were A LOT of dogs -- I counted close to 30 dogs -- as compared to one moderately attentive human. Over-crowded and under-staffed I immediately thought. Thus, my first question was, "how many humans to dogs ratio" can we expect on any give day? Min. 3 I was told. So, where were the other two? Despite early trepidations, Metro was close to our home, and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I dropped both my dogs -- 10lbs and 20lbs respectively -- off on my way to work at 8:30am. At 9:20am, I received a frantic call from MetroDog. "Your dog is bleeding, profusely (their words). Come get your dogs!" Suffice to say, I freaked out! Think, cold sweat, panic, terror -- these ARE my children! My 10lb dog was attacked by another dog and had his neck punctured! I'm including photos - white Poodle mix with puncture wounds and blood :( I raced from work, VERY UPSET, to Metro. When I arrived, someone from Metro was holding my dog. He was a bloody mess. I grabbed him, wrapped him up in a yoga towel I had in the trunk as Metro just handed him to me. I raced to our Vet -- over 30 minutes away. I called the vet up ahead, thankfully. I was told to keep firm pressure on the wounds until I arrived. Yeah, try that while driving! Our little man needed multiple shots and stitches. Totally traumatized -- both of us. So, I reached out to MetroDog and requested, that since, in their fabulous care, my dog was nearly killed, I'd lost day of work (yes, 5+ hours to deal with this), and a near $600 vet bill, that Metro pay for this, or, at the very least, DO THE RIGHT THING and help us pay for it. Their answer? NO! - you signed a waiver. Fine, we signed a waiver. End of day, DO THE RIGHT THING. They did NOT! Not by a long, long mile. These are the people you want to entrust your children with? "Come get your dogs" -- that was the extent of their assistance. Our kids are now in the hands of people who... care. Leave them at Metro and you too may get that horrible phone call! read more

This is hard to write because I really enjoyed this place initially. The staff was very friendly and I left my baby with ease & piece of mind. Unfortunately, it was a different story after we picked him up. When we picked him up, he seemed ok. He was tired and pretty much slept for 12 hours straight. Once he was awake, we noticed his itching on his belly begin. A few hours later he was itching so badly that it was taking off his hair and tearing his skin. Turns out, he had fleas. Even with Frontline applied previously! We went through hell trying to get him better and quarantine the house. My ease & piece of mind is no longer attributed with Metro Dog and I am sorry that I will not be going back there again. I know that it is not exactly the place's fault, but it still is enough for me to not go back. For the $250 bill we were charged at the boarding facility, we expect to pick up our guy in perfect condition. If you choose to take your best friend there, please do it with extreme caution. My wife and I have used metro dog a few times when we left town for a few days. Our one year old doxen, Sophie, loves this place. At this point she doesn't even care that we are leaving because she is so excited to go play with the other dogs. We did had a problem the first time left Sophie here. About half way through our trip, Metro Dog called us to say a larger dog had fallen on Sophie and she was limping. While this was a crappy situation, I understand that accidents happen. What really impressed me is how Metro Dog handled the situation. The owner actually took Sophie home for the night to watch her and offered to take her to any vet or pet hospital we wanted. After a few days Sophie was feeling better, other than being mad because she hadn't gotten to play with all of her doggie friends. We have left Sophie here several times since without any problems. We board our dog at MD whenever we leave town via airplane (he goes on all the roadtrips). He loves it here. The friendly staffers always remember him and can usually recount some fairly detailed canine anecdotes about our dog when we pick him up. The play area is boisterous, and we're sure that the dogs get a *ton* of exercise and attention. MD is reasonably priced compared to some other places in town, and if you board your dog beyond five days, he gets a bubble bath. It's hard enough to leave him, but at least we get the strong impression that he's staying someplace that he enjoys and where he's in good hands. Highly recommended. read more

We absolutely LOVE Metro Dog! We have tried a few doggy daycares (Downtown Dog Lounge, Barking Lounge) and our dog has been most comfortable here. The staff are truly dog lovers and they always give updates on how our dog did that day which we love! It's never too crowded like some others in the area, they have a great outdoor area so the dogs can get some Vitamin D, and the prices are affordable! The only "con" is that he doesn't get as much play time when another dog is there because they don't get along. Kind of a bummer and I wish they would just kick that dog out so our dog could continue to play more. Overall, this is the best doggy daycare option in the Seattle area. Highly recommend! read more

During that horrific heat wave last summer we put our dog in daycare just to keep him cool. We tried Lucky Dog, but weren't amazed by their care or the way they handled things. Every call and email with Metro Dog was friendly, organized and on top of things. When I picked our boy up after 6 hours, the staff member that brought him out was panting and sweaty and laughing--she had obviously been playing with the dogs! They were able to tell me how he did all day, funny things he did, what dog he teamed up with, and that he loved the kiddie pool they had outside. Even with the place crowded they kept a good watch on everyone, which impressed me. We're planning on boarding him there over New Year's, and when I emailed I was pleased that they remembered him, and reminded me about his vaccinations. I love that the half day is 6 hours, that they have outside access and this winter I'm planning on just dropping him off for an hour or two whenever the weather is too nasty to take him on a walk. I have brought my pup there since he was a youngin. a crazy youngin. I have always loved the staff. Jen, Melissa, lady who wears earplugs who's name I forgot... They always give me a full report (regardless of how many dogs are there) of my dog's day and are super friendly and kind. My dog loves them and comes home worn out and noticibly loved. The only only only thing I don't like is that they don't stay overnight with the dogs. That is my only criticism. Frequently take our dog here when we need a day to get things done, or have a trip planned for the day and our dog absolutely loves it here. Place looks a little dull on the outside, but our dog always comes home happy, worn out, and always excited to go back. Our dog tends to be extremely anxious and unsure in new situations, and the first day we dropped him off here for his puppy trial it took him a while to (reluctantly) go into the drop off area. After we came back at the end of the day he was extremely happy and excited, and now doesn't even bat an eye about running into the drop off area. Prices are great here for half and full day daycare and all of the staff are very pleasant. I'm amazed everytime we drop our dog off that they remember him by name given the amount of dogs we typically see here on a daily basis. I'd suggest this to any dog owner who needs a day (or more!) I brought my former rescue pup here for her first experience with outside care since arriving at my house. As soon as she walked in the door her lab tail and bottom waggled with excitement. After being "assessed" in the lobby for friendliness and behavior we walked to the back where she met with one of the dogs in a smaller space so she could get used to the smells and sounds. As I walked out the door she looked at me like a kindergartener on their first day a little concerned but still excited. When I arrived back at the end of the day the dogs were all lined up excited, happy and when A saw me she bounded over to tell me about her day - play time, snacks, more play and lots of exercise. Within a minute of being in the car she fell asleep with a happy little tail wag. Everyone I came into contact with was kind, warm, invited me to call to check on her (which of course I did!) and overall were great. As each "parent" walked in they said hello, knew them, their dogs and each of them took time to greet A as well. The space was clean, orderly and all in all a great place to leave your family member while at work or on vacation. We will definitely be back to Metro Dog! My little 8.8 pound dog is not very keen to new people or big dogs, but on his first day in, he was gallivanting between the big dog area and little dog area because he could squeeze between the fences. This is great, my dog loves it here. She's not aggressive, so we don't have the problems other people have with dogs playing too rough. The people are super attentive, and when I call and ask about my dog they actually go find out what's going on. I haven't boarded here. But having family who's worked with dogs before I know that things can happen. I have found two fleas on her since we've been coming, but it's not a big deal, it's like taking your dog to the park and not expecting to pick up a couple fleas there. read more

Our English Bull Terrier, Everton loves Metro Dog. She's deaf and until going there was having trouble reading the cues other dogs gave her since she couldn't hear them bark. She's still a puppy and is constantly learning, but since going there she has begun to behave so well with other dogs she encounters outside of Metro Dog. For example yesterday at the pet store instead of jumping around seeing new dogs she play bowed and then played gently with them. It was her first time meeting a tiny dog, a chihuahua who was only three months old. The owner had panic written on her face as Everton approached her dog but the second she got to the dog Evy licked its face and laid down on her side letting the little dog walk on her and lick her face. My French Bulldog Mia has been going to Metro Dog since she was 7 months old! She goes at least 2 days a week and absolutely loves it there. I have tried other doggie day care facilities in the area and this one is by far the best. Mia always comes home so tired after a full day there and the employees treat here like she is their own dog! They always greet her by name and she doesn't hesitate when I drop her off to join in on the fun. The owners are awesome and are willing to work with you on timing and purchasing of packages! I completely trust this team with Mia and am so thankful to have a place where I can drop Mia off and she can run around all day and have fun!
