We've been bringing our rescue beagle to Metro Dog full-time for a over two months now and are very happy. She has a serious case of separation anxiety, and the staff has been great about working with us and offering suggestions to help lessen her stress. We appreciate that they have told us whenever they notice any issues with her - it's nice to know someone is paying attention to her during the day. For example, they told us she wasn't self-regulating and was just running for the entire time she was there, and suggested that she start regular rest breaks, which has worked out great. The staff are very friendly and always greet her by name. Our only quibble is that they do not have people on site overnight. It would be great to board her in a place that she's already familiar with, but we are just not comfortable leaving her somewhere with no humans. read more

My dog has been boarded at MetroDog half a dozen times when I've been away on trips over the past year. She loooves it! From the start, we've had a good experience every time. The employees are friendly, organized, and patient. The other dogs seem well cared for and happy. My dog lives for playing with other dogs so it's a great experience for her, as well as good socialization. When we pull up she practically jumps out of her skin with excitement to get inside, and when I pick her up she's happy...and tired (major plus ;). 5 stars from me, 5 paws from Lexi! read more

During our second visit to Seattle, my husband and I stayed with our friends, who were living in tight quarters. We were on a very long road trip (coming from SoCal) and we had decided beforehand to board our dog, Charley. My first impression (over the phone) of Metro Dog was beyond excellent. I decided to call MD because of the previous review and see what they had to offer. The gentleman who assisted me with my questions and concerns was very personable, yet he was very professional and very knowledgeable about dogs and their needs. Before calling, I was hesitant about boarding because my dog has never been boarded and I had heard horror stories of dogs getting seriously hurt or sick at such places. After the phone call, I was reassured and looking forward to the trial visit. About a week later, we arrived with Charley for his free trial 4-hr visit. The trial went well and Charley was boarded that night for 3 nights. The staff was exceptionally helpful and attentive to each dog. When we picked up Charley he was happy and healthy as can be! My only complaint was, he was a little stinky (as he should be after 3 days of dog camp bliss!) and needed a bath, STAT! Next time, I will request a bath - which is an option at the time of check-in. But nevermind that, METRO DOG rocks!!! read more

We have been taking our goldendoodle to Metro Dog since he was 4 months old - and he's now almost 4! Our interaction with the staff is always smooth; however, the real proof is that our dog is so excited to go there. Please watch out. I am just about to take my dog in to veterinarian to have them take out 8 steel staples in my dogs forehead. We left our dog at Metro Dog over Thanksgiving and we received a call on Thanksgiving about a gash on his head. When we returned to sort this out they told us that 'they don't know what happened' and 'the dog just came in off the floor with this huge gash'. I also think that people should check out other reviews of 'open wounds' See google maps reviews Lindsey F.'s comments on April 23 2008 "We've been taking our dog here for a year and half and it's been great until recently. Within the last 3 visits my dog has come back injured twice. The first time he came home with an abrasion on his cornea and the second he had a huge gash in his ear. Both times I asked Metro Dog if anything happened and they said they didn't notice anything." This place is no longer safe for our dog. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG(S) HERE!!! I wish I was able to give it 0 stars. I've used Metro Dog quite a bit in the past and have never really had a problem, the people seemed nice. Other than the smell which was disgusting and unsanitary, everything seemed ok. Well that's where I'm wrong. I had brought my dog to daycare and was in the fenced area where you let your dog go when I saw Heather grab a dogs skin and yank the poor little thing to the ground. The dog looked so scared. Then she was opening the gate, (not aware that I was there with my dog) and kicked another dog right in the stomach, the dog yelped and ran away. I was so shocked to see the manager Heather act this way towards dogs. I turned around and left, there is no way I will ever bring my babies here again. The owners need to fire this lady and she should go to prison for animal cruelty. Ill make sure to let everyone that I know that also uses MetroDog for boarding or daycare to stop right away unless they want an injured dog and a giant vet bill. I had called to talk to the owners about this, but I didn't get an answer. No wonder they don't have cameras in their facility, they don't want people know they beat the dogs. Its a shame, hopefully they get people who actually care about the animals to work there. read more

Metro Dog was able to take my dog on a busy 4th of July weekend. It was a VERY pleasant, easy experience all the way around. When I picked up Bruno, two staff members described his behavior- it was clear that they got to know him while he was there. It looked like he had a great time. I really appreciated how friendly the staff was with me. I felt like they were happy to be there, and happy to have Bruno. I wish they had more outdoor space, but I can understand that's hard to come by in the city. read more

Buddy had some issues around playing too much and not easing up on others; I appreciated the honesty of the staff and we began working on correcting this behavior. I board my pooch, Einstein, when I have to go out of town, and he LOVES going to Metro Dog. The staff members remember him and he gets very excited to see everyone there! Metro dog has a large play space, which gives Einstein a lot of room to run and get exercise. He always comes home tired from playing with the other pooches! I have been taking my little dog Cappelini to Metro Dog since I rescued him in December. He had a bad case of "separation anxiety" so leaving him during the work day was a must. I absolutely cannot say enough about the care he gets. They watch after him with the care and loving concern that I would give him were I there. I was recently in the Hospital and missing my dog terribly. They took wonderful pictures, crafted a personalized card and sent it signed by everyone cares for him at Metro. It was the greatest gift I could have received. It relieved the loneliness of a 5 week hospital stay and allowed me to relax and recuperate. They are able to introduce Cappie into the group of dogs of all sizes and temperament gently and carefully so that he is not overwhelmed. I would recommend Metro Dog to all dog owners. I have been boarding my dog at Metro Dog for the past 6 months any time I need to go out of town. I have had a great experience each time I've dropped him off and picked him up. The staff is friendly and you can tell that they genuinely care about the dogs there. It is very organized and there is always someone watching the dogs that are playing in the daycare area. An additional high point is that their drop-off and pick-up hours are very accommodating. But the biggest selling point is that my dog, Trey, can't wait to get inside to play with all of his friends and is even hesitant to leave when I pick him up. It's a good feeling as an owner to know that he is happy to be there when he can't be with me. read more

Our dog has been "vacationing" at Metro Dog for many years when we have to go away and can't take him. I'm always amazed when I call to reserve a spot for him that each person I talk to seems to know him when I mention his name. The staff that work at Metro Dog seem genuinely interested in dogs, and I find much comfort knowing that they actually know my dog and his needs. I also appreciate the updates when I pick him up, e.g., who his special play partner was of that visit and how he ate and slept. read more

If I was just reviewing their care for the doggies, I would give it 5 stars...staff is friendly and clearly care about their clients, and the facility is dog-friendly. Unfortunately, they have raised their prices SO much that I can't afford to use them anymore. Last summer we paid 30-something per day, and today I was told that they have raised their rates to $53 per day (plus a $5 per day surcharge for the upcoming holiday weekend). The person on the phone said this is due to the upcoming minimum wage increase, which is a load of you-know-what. This company had to recently increase its wages to $11 per hour; the full minimum wage increase for a company of this size will be phased in over 5 to 7 YEARS. Clearly, the owners are just taking advantage of this situation to raise their rates in a ridiculous fashion. I suspect they may lose customers by taking this course of action. We've been taking our dog(s) there for many years, but now will be going elsewhere. read more

This is the absolute worst place to take your dog. We took our puppy there yesterday for his "trial" and when we went to pick him up only a few hours later he had a swollen cut on his head and bites on his ears. When we asked the man that worked there what happened his response was "Oh it is ok, he only bled for a little bit." We will never take our dog back here again. Our puppy has gone to the dog park every day since we got him and has never had an issue with other dogs until yesterday. The staff was really friendly, but after leaving our dog to board for 2 nights, he came back to us with a skinned nose and a completely hoarse bark (like could only squeak when his normal bark is quite deep and loud). I bring my dog here when I go out of town. They have always been friendly and accommodating. I love that my dog gets soooo happy in the car the moment he realizes where he's going... when we arrive, he practically drags me through the door he's so excited to be there. The play floor itself seems to be a very high energy environment. MetroDog is actually basically the only thing that wears my dog out... he will power through long runs and hikes, but he comes home from MetroDog exhausted, which makes us both happy. read more

Metro Dog and their wonderful staff have been an integral part of me and my min-pin, Chia's life. I started with Metro Dog when Chia was just 6 months old. Though she was much smaller than almost all the other dogs, they made accommodations for her. As a result of this, Chia is well socialized with other dogs. She love's being there and when I drop her off she jumps out of my arms into the arms of which ever staff member is reaching to her. Its amazing to see her on the floor with sometimes 30 huge dogs and she is fine. Chia is 6 now and she still visits Metro a few times a week. It is a great option for her to burn some energy. This was my first experience using a doggie daycare and overnight boarding for my dog and I was quite nervous going into it. I have a 3 yr old medium Goldendoodle who is very friendly with dogs but a little shy with new people so I wasn't sure how she'd react to being left somewhere that could potentially be overwhelming. My initial contact with them was just to ask some questions and see if it was a good fit. The person that answered the phone was very patient with my numerous questions and talked me through what my dogs day would be like at Metro Dog. After deciding it was a good fit we did our 'free trial day' and then booked the overnight stays. I am happy to say that my dog LOVED it and seemed to really enjoy all the interaction (plus she was super tired when we took her home)! I was able to call and check in with the staff everyday of my four day trip to see how she was doing and each time they were patient and explained just what my dog was up to! After picking her up she was in great health, they had all her things organized and ready to go and the staff were really sweet and said how good of a dog she was. I will definitely use them again for my daycare and overnight needs! I have nothing to say but great things so far! read more

Metro Dog is our second attempt at doggie daycare/boarding for our 1-year old pup. Before Metro, we had used Downtown Dog Lounge a few times and felt so-so about it. The huge size of it meant less personal attention for both puppy and owners and we felt unsure about leaving our dog with them for longer than a weekend. They always just seem so...distracted in there. After just one trial day with Metro Dog, we felt the staff and overall environment were just a lot more personable and inviting. The play area is large and looks clean, and each dog has their own little personalized cubby for leashes and other belongings (cute!). I think we'll officially be making the switch from DDL to Metro. Plus, if you board your pup for 5 days or longer, they throw in a free doggie bath. Nothing like picking up a clean AND exhausted pup after a long vacation! read more

Our dog Avery has now been going to Metro Dog regularly for about a year, and he loves it! He is part Shiba, and definitely has the challenging Shiba attitude. The Metro Dog staff are great with him; they discipline and train him as necessary, while still keeping a great sense of humor about his antics. He always comes home tired and happy, and I don't have to worry about him while I'm at work since I know he's having a great time. We have also boarded him there once, and they took great care of him - it's great to have a place he can go where he isn't kenneled all day and knows the people and other dogs! Metro Dog is like the tv show "Cheers" - everyone knows my dog's name! As you pull up, Spencer is welcomed by name as all the dogs come to the front to see who has just arrived. Spencer loves his dog pals but when he needs a break, there are plenty of couches and corners for him to curl up in. They take good care of the dogs and are very responsive to each dog's needs. Metro Dog watched over my lady Malamute last January and I was very pleased with their service. They get to know each of their charges personally and give them lots of friendly attention. My girl is not always the easiest pup on the block to handle and she came back to me happy, clean and with her toenails clipped. The staff seemed genuinely affectionate with the dogs in their care and run their business in a well-organized manner. Even though they sanitize the place every day, it still smells a bit like uh....
