I've only lived here for almost 8 months and by far this is my favorite restaurant in Alabama! I crave it everyday and my favorite dish is the Waffles & Chickens. And I tends to ordered it more often then the other dishes but I love every dish I've tried so far. In addition, their customer services, the employees from servers to waitresses, waiters, are friendly and mostly on point with assisting customers. I truly would love to see this restaurant to expands much bigger than it is because it is always so crowded and that is a great thing because it shows how much the community and other potential customers enjoying the foods and everything about Metro Diner. I love the board they have serving daily new specials and just the atmosphere too is very warm and welcoming.This place deserves double stars of provided for mega excellence! Thank you for serving! First time eating here. Service was nice. Atmosphere was comfy. Place was packed. We ordered Bold City Burger and Crispy Chicken Sandwich, fries and onion rings. No pictures of our food this time. Everything looked so good so we said our prayers and dug in! Definitely worth it. Not greasy at all. Next time, we know that we can share just one plate. My wife returned the next to speak to the manager Chris. He was very apologetic about both orders being incorrect. Our meal was refunded from the night before and he gave my wife a free dinner right there. She got the Croissant French Toast and said it was very good. So we will give it another try soon and see if we will raise the rating. read more

Greasy, sub par food with sad, very slow service. Asked for crispy bacon and got is flappy and undercooked....my over medium eggs however were way over cooked. Yoke wasn't even runny. This was second visit and their second chance. I'll never come again. read more

Best meatloaf and mashed potatoes I've ever had! (Sorry Mom!) Great service too. There was a small issue with our order which the manager, Marco, proactively informed us of and took steps to address. We were seated as soon as we walked in on 06/30/19@5:00 p.m, the tables were full all around us. First time visiting so need time anyways to review the menu, no waiter had still presented itself, so we waited some more. Other customers had come in a been seated and had their drink orders taken already. We watched this happen several times and still no one had come to our table. We left after waiting 30 minutes. Excellent breakfast choices, but I always get the same thing every time because no one does fluffy scrambled eggs better. Best turkey sausage I've ever had, and you can't beat their Poinsettias. Awful service & cold food! Waited over 30 minutes for seating, because we were told they were seating fanilies of 4 not 3 (even though we sat at a 4 top table). Ordered our food as soon as we sat down, but after 35 minutes had to ask where our food was. Told our order was next. The food was cold (sent back twice only to get the same plate with same cold food on it) and they forgot my daughters food. The manager came by and said she was taking care of the order, but that does not make anything better. I would rather pay for good service & food not free and terrible. Went in for breakfast, ended up having brunch! We first stood for 30 minutes waiting for a table then sat for 45 minutes waiting for food. I kept telling my kids to be patient, telling them it will be worth the wait; I was wrong. I ordered eggs over-medium, they arrived severely undercooked! Eating raw egg whites or anything they touched would be a gamble. So I ate very little. My wife ordered Eggs Benedict, the Canadian bacon was cold. Eventually we were asked how the food was. I told my server that the eggs were not cooked, he offered to take them back, I told him I was out of time, he said ok and walked away. He returned minutes later with my bill. No visit from the management, no offer to take something off the bill. Disappointed and will not be back! I regret leaving a tip. read more

Metro Diner scored a health score of 77 in the month of February. They refused to post their health score because they were attempting to deceive the guest. A guest called the health department because they refused to post the health score(btw is against the law). They scored a 82 this round. Please understand their food is not temping accurately. The only time they attempt to meet requirement is when the health inspector visit. Their equipment is NOT working properly and they are NOT doing anything to fix it..Take your chances it is like Russian roulette. I don't get the hype. The food wasn't that great. I had the chicken and waffles and ordered shrimp and grits to go. The chicken was super salty and the waffles weren't so great. The shrimp and grits were ok. Wait staff was great, very friendly. They did apologize about the chicken (in fact the manager comped my meal and gave a gift certificate for me to try them again). This place is awesome! After living in Chicago for a few years and attempting to eat chicken and waffles there I felt the need to try chicken and waffles at Metro Diner. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the strawberry butter they put on the waffles was phenomenal as well, and their syrup and hot sauce blend was the perfect sweet/spice I was looking for. First time visiting here after hearing many good comments from others. I had breakfast: sausage patties, fried eggs, hash browns & pancakes. All were good except the pancakes -- they looked good but were chewy. Service was great. I will definitely return but will pass on the pancakes. read more

I've been to this location several times and have always been impressed with quality of food and service, however today was a different experience and hopefully just an "off" day. Coffee cup was dirty, service was slow, even though there were only 4 tables filled. Food was warm and not heated consistently throughout. We went on a Saturday night around 730. We expected it to be busy so having a wait wouldn't be out of question. We waited about 25 mins for a table. We were seated and already knew what we wanted to order. We ordered and apparently you can't substitute mashed potatoes with Mac n cheese without paying the full price for the side item. The didn't have the Grit Cakes for the shrimp and grits (we can only assume that they were frozen and weren't made fresh since they were out of the cakes, but had loose grits). So we ordered drinks and sat and talked about what else we would get. After 15 minutes the waitress came back and didn't have our drinks still. We left and will probably not go back for a while. Idk if the food is good, but service was crap. read more

My family (me, my husband and my 2 year old) have been to breakfast here several times now. The first time we went was within a day or two of opening and our order was missing a dish, napkins missing, drinks weren't refilled, but the staff was very apologetic and gave us a $10 gift card to try again. The next several times after that initial visit we've had great service, attentive wait staff and of course Mr. Tim is amazing at recognizing our 2 year old by name and going out of his way to talk to our toddler even when he is not our server. The food is rich but surprisingly inventive (cinnamon roll pancakes, fried chicken benedict and stuffed strawberry cheesecake french toast have been some of the plates of the week). The food is always served warm and the checkout process is done through a tablet at your table. The portions are rather large (definitely traditional southern American portions) and we almost always have a take home box after our meal. The bathrooms are kept clean and the restaurant is usually busy, though you never wait very long for a table as they are rather good at turning tables fast. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Jacksonville FL area and were excited to find them opening in Madison AL. We went for the soft opening today. The crew was still training for the Grand Opening tomorrow. The service was excellent and there was no fall off from the food experienced in Jacksonville. Everything was up to standards and quite enjoyable. While we have found some good eats in the Huntsville area, we will be adding Metro into the rotation! read more

We are new to the area and chose this as our first dining out breakfast. Our family ordered the meat lovers omelette, eggs Benedict, vegetarian omelet and the avocado toast with eggs. All were made wonderfully. We will be back. Our waitress was excellent as well. Really, really good chicken and waffle dinner. They make this spicy syrup with Louisiana hot sauce that pairs very well with the chicken.

Madison finally has a great diner. The service was great, good came out fast, and the place was clean. Had the special, Chicken Alfredo, it was perfect. I was excited to try this new diner because all of my friends were talking about it. I ordered the eggs with bacon, toast, and hash browns. Everything had not a lick of seasoning. It was so bland I felt like I was having dinner at a white family's house. If you want good diner food just go to IHOP or Waffle House. My friend I went with was also disappointed. Me and my family ate the Madison location on Sunday morning. We had great food and the service was great. Our sever was so nice and helpful. As we sat here we watched several tables calling her over to talk to. You could tell they had her before and she was great. Not only did she make us feel welcome she did it with a brace on her hand. I believe her name was Sharifa. We will be telling all our friends to go eat at the Madison metro and ask for this young lady. We will be coming back and become regulars there thank you. read more

We experienced the Metro Diner the first time in Jacksonville, Fl. And we're excited to see it come to Huntsville. Our dinner for 7 was out in record time, all together, and delicious!
