First time visiting Stoney River since it recently opened, and it was a great experience from start to finish! Went for brunch and didn't even need a reservation. Our server, Alana, was wonderful -- attentive and made the whole visit feel special. We kicked things off with the peach bellini carafe ($20), which was a fantastic start. For food, we ordered the skillet ($18) and the steak & eggs ($24), both of which were excellent. Great flavors, great portions, and a really solid brunch overall. On top of all that, it wasn't expensive either -- really solid value for the quality. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Stoney River was a disappointing lunch experience last Sunday. My two Sorority Sisters and I had a 1:00 lunch reservation and the reservation was easy to make and(via resy.com) the hostesses at the hostess stand were all professional and very friendly! Cheyenne was our server and she did a good job! She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Cheyenne brought us complimentary biscuits and butter (or maybe another type of sauce) that my Sisters said were delicious! They were extra fluffy and baked correctly. We three shared the Steak Egg Rolls that were actually really good, very creamy and rich, and unique. I did not try the sauce/sauces that came with them. They were served at the correct temperature and a nice, rich appetizer that I would recommend! Sister #1 ordered the "Stoney River Breakfast Skillet" which was attractively plated in a skillet and appeared to be the correct temperature and her eggs were cooked to her liking. She was off put by the cheddar cheese that topped the skillet off - it looked very artificial (meaning bright orange yellow) and as if, instead of cheese, the egg yolks were sort of sitting atop the skillet. She's not a huge complainer and she finished the skillet. Sister #2 ordered the shrimp and grits, described as "...Cajun sauteed shrimp, Worcestershire cream reduction, bacon, cheese grits." The plate looked nice; however she said the shrimp were "beyond rubbery and more of the texture of shoe leather." I kept encouraging her to send it back and order something else and she said she said she was "hungry and it is edible." She did say the grits were excellent. Sister #1 and I tasted the sauce of the shrimp and grits and both of us found it very "tomato flavor forward and oddly sweet." Christine's lunch was a disappointment. Also, she should have sent the dish back, in my opinion, I'm sure Stoney River would have made it right. I got the small filet, I think it was seven ounces, cooked medium rare with asparagus. You get one side with this dish which is fine. The steak, once again, was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly with no need to add any salt/pepper and it was nicely seared! The steak was delicious! We had wine, which was good, too! We did not get dessert and were offered more "biscuits" to go (which seemed odd to me, it was like 2:30 in a very hot afternoon and I wasn't interested in carting biscuits around in a hot car); however, it was a thoughtful gesture. Last comment I have is no fault of Stoney River's, it's a "Clift Farms" thing, at least the Development Fee is Clift Farms specific, I don't know the "wine tax" fee. I really dislike fees. My $200.00+ bill included a three percent "development fee" of $5.58, a "Wine Tax" of $4.18 (I've never seen that before, what is a wine tax?) and regular "Sales Tax" of $6.36. Early in the week, I made online reservations for Friday at 7pm. I got text confirmation of that reservation. Something came up making Friday a bad choice, so I made another reservation for Saturday and cancelled the on for Friday. Once again I got a text message for both the Friday cancellation and Saturday booking. The automated replies made it convenient. We arrived a few minutes before or reservation and were seated right away. They were quick to respect my request for a nearby booth, as I have a disability walking. We ordered the steak appetizer roles that were outstanding! My wife ordered a Caesar salad that was huge, along with the filet with a baked potato. When I looked at the menu days prior, I was eyeing the shrimp and grits, but after seeing nearby tables entrees, I quickly ordered the ribeye. Our server, Jesstina was off the wall spectacular! Our appetizer came out quick, and our main course came out soon after we were done enjoying our appetizers. She made sure our every need was taken care of, and her attitude was as if we were her long time friends. We came here for our 10th Anniversary dinner. I made a reservation through the Resy app, so it was very easy to do. We were seated quickly. They have plenty of parking on site. The restaurant was very nice. I ordered a glass of wine. My husband got the Manhattan. Then the bread came out and the rolls are like a delicious cross between a donut and a roll with sweet butter. For dinner we both got side salads with our meals, which were big enough to be an entree so we could've shared one. We both got the lobster bisque, which was delicious and I highly recommend.i got the lamb chops for my entree. The staff was amazing. I was happy with my meal but the manager came out and said they were making an extra lamb chop because they felt the size of the ones that were made weren't big enough. I was shocked at the level of detail and customer service, in a good way. That has never happened to me. The portions were decent and we had leftovers to bring home. I would definitely recommend this place for a celebration. We had a great time. The food was good and our service staff were wonderful. Within the first few seconds of being seated, my arm stuck to the table. My side of the table had not been wiped of whatever the last patron spilled on it. My first impression did not bode well for the rest of my meal. We were greeted, our server introducing herself and completely ignoring the person who followed her around all evening (I'm assuming she was training). The named server went over what each menu contained and then recommended the egg rolls. We instead both ordered lobster bisque. The large bowl of bisque had a respectable amount of lobster but it had an odd aftertaste of "heat". Something that didn't have a specific flavor note nor anything melding it to the dish. It was just weird. I ordered the bistro chicken substituting a baked potato for the mashed. The chicken was served warm, not hot. This may be part of the reason for the panko breading being mushy. I scraped off what I could though I also lost the sauce. I gave my husband a large piece to try. He didn't eat but one bite. He said it was all mushy breading. My potato was hot but had been sitting too long as evidenced by the hard brown chunks of potato mixed with the rest. My husband had cedar plank salmon. The large piece of salmon was executed well - moist and flaky. It lacked in flavor - a lemon wedge probably would have gone a long way. He did have the mashed potatoes and was disappointed. Both of our meals were served with broccoli. We had to ask for bread - small, sweet rolls more dessert like than a bread accompaniment. While my husband had an old fashioned, I had a Sazerac. It was smooth though way too much absinthe in the last few sips - the bartender didn't take the time to properly swirl the absinthe. The serving sizes were large and we took plenty of food home, though I doubt neither the potatoes nor my chicken will be eaten. The unacknowledged server finally checked on us as we were finishing. I told her about the chicken. Our server with a name came by a few minutes later and offered to remake my meal, an offer I would have appreciated about 15 minutes earlier, not when I'm obviously finished (or obviously have given up). The restaurant was much less than half full yet was very loud - the music was so loud that the patrons had to speak up to be heard. Definitely took away from what could have been an intimate dinner. My husband and I always talk about my review after our meal. He said he was at 4.5 stars. Since I'm writing this review, I'm overriding his assessment and giving Stoney River a very generous 3 stars. Stoney River delivers solid flavor and quality, and the ambiance makes the experience even better. The atmosphere is classy, dimly lit, and upscale without feeling overly formal. It is a great spot for a date night or a special evening out. We started with the crab cake. It was definitely good, flavorful, and nicely prepared, but at 18 dollars for a single crab cake, it felt a little steep. The standout of the night was the Wild Mushroom Meatloaf. It was hearty, well seasoned, and something I would absolutely reorder. We paired it with asparagus and Parmesan fries. The asparagus was fresh and succulently seasoned, cooked just right. The Parmesan fries were crispy and flavorful and made a great complement to the meal. I ordered the London Dip, which had good flavor overall, especially paired with the roasted wild mushrooms. That combination worked well together. However, for the price point, I think next time I might try something else on the menu. It was good, just not quite as memorable as the meatloaf. We also tried the smoked gouda mac and cheese, which was rich and tasty and definitely a solid side option. Overall, Stoney River offers good quality dishes with strong flavors in a classy setting that makes it perfect for date night. My wife and I were seated as soon as we arrived (on time with our reservation) on a Tuesday night. The booth we sat at was clean and comfortable with soft lighting. Our waitress, Ariel, was very attentive and made sure we had plenty of zero. We had drinks--wine and a Manhattan cocktail. The food was quite tasty and full of flavor. The bread that came to the table was very good. Almost sweet cornbread muffins but a different texture. I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon with mashed potatoes and a substitute side of creamed spinach. She had grilled shrimp with creamed corn brûlée. Fabulous if you have a sweet tooth. Overall, we had a great time enjoying a special midweek dinner eating out on the town. There are two components to my review - the food and the service. We made reservations at Stoney River to celebrate and were looking forward to a nice meal and experience. The ambiance was the perfect blend of nice steakhouse with a fine dining feel, even though most patrons were dressed pretty casually. We were early to our reservation, so we grabbed a drink at the bar. I had a Martini that was delicious and my boyfriend had The Draper, which was right up his alley. Our bartender was friendly and quick to take our order. Our table was ready right on schedule, and we were seated in a booth right by the kitchen. Service: Unfortunately, I was not pleased with the service. It wasn't what I excepted at a restaurant of this caliber. I didn't want our food to arrive on top of each other, so we waited until our salad arrived to place the order for our entrees and glasses of wine. That was a mistake. We finished our drinks and our salad and then waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually our waiter came by to tell us it would be "just a second" and we requested waters. And then we waited. And waited. Eventually the water came, but still no food. I thought "well maybe he'll bring our wines, at least" but that was a no. Eventually, the food did arrive and then after that so did our wine. I know they're new, but I guess I would've just done things differently from a service point of view. And while there were other tables, it wasn't like they were super busy. Food: I had the swordfish, which was incredible. I would change nothing about that dish. It came with rice and the seasonal vegetable I chose was cauliflower. That had some heat to it, but was still delicious too. My boyfriend had the filet medallions and had ordered it medium rare. Two out of the three were overcooked, so that was unfortunate, but the flavoring of the steak was on point. We had wanted dessert with a glass of bubbly, but by time our wine came out for our entrees, we had a decent portion of wine left by time we were done eating. We settled for just the white chocolate creme brûlée, which was still a good pairing with our red wine. Overall, four stars. We will return, but are going to wait a bit and hope they figure the timing of things out. read more

Daddy/daughter week continued at Stoney River Steakhouse & Grill, and we were lucky enough to stumble in on Opening Night! We've been watching the build-out, eagerly anticipating their grand opening, and while I usually wait to leave reviews (to allow for growing pains), this place is the exception to the rule. From the moment we walked in, everything ran like a well-oiled machine. We were seated in under 5 minutes, and drinks were on the table within 30 seconds. While it's a little odd that water isn't automatically served, that's a minor detail. Our server was fantastic, and it's clear that the staff has been trained well--you'd never know it was opening night! Ambiance & Décor: Stoney River strikes an interesting balance between upscale sports bar, contemporary steakhouse, and a semi-formal dining experience. Whether you're dressed up for a special occasion or just grabbing a bite after work, you'll feel comfortable here. The bar seats around 40 and seems to be a focal point. In fact, I overheard the owner personally seating a few guests and introducing the bartender as "one of the best there is" and mentioning that he flew her in from Florida to get things started. That level of investment in service says a lot! Appetizer: Deviled Eggs - Phenomenal! A must-try. Bread Service: They serve a unique flat muffin-style bread that's both salty and sweet. Fresh, warm, and tasty. Caesar Salad: Perfectly balanced dressing--not too heavy, not too light, just enough to complement every bite. Lobster Bisque: Highly recommended! My daughter loved it. Entrées: Signature Steak & Biscuits: Delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly, and while the biscuits were tasty, they were plentiful--definitely a carb overload! Half of it went home for breakfast. Salmon: My daughter's dish was well-cooked and flavorful--she barely made it through half, so leftovers were a must. Bonus points: They box up your food for you at the table, a touch you typically see in higher-end restaurants. Drinks: Their drink glasses are on the smaller side (I'd estimate about 8 ounces after ice), but refills come quickly and consistently, so you never feel like you're waiting. Dessert: We ended the night with Crème Brûlée and French Press coffee--a perfect way to wrap up a fantastic meal. If you sit in a booth, bring a jacket. There's constant air blowing, and you might get chilly! Stoney River delivered an exceptional experience, especially for opening night. The service was A++, the food was well-executed and plentiful, and the ambiance strikes a great balance between casual and upscale. From start to finish our experience was great! We were greeted with a smile from the hostess, seated immediately, and then greeted again by a manager who thanked us for joining them for dinner. After he left our server came by with some wonderful poppy seed breads and butter. Our drinks arrived soon after and they were perfectly delicious. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, piping hot and delicious. My wife had the tuna stack for dinner which was not only beautiful but delicious. I opted for the sea bass. We arrived Sunday just as they opened. I went to the hostess desk and told them 2 adults and 1 baby that would require a highchair. We were called within 2-3 minutes to be seated. We arrive at a high booth. I said do you have booster seats for these and she said no. I said do you have a high chair tall enough for the booth and she said she wasn't allowed to bring high chairs in that area. We asked if we could sit at another table that allowed them and she looked very confused. Once we did get sat we ordered our drinks and were told some biscuits would be out shortly. Every table around us including folks that had just sat down were receiving them. Never made it to our table. I ordered the fillet and eggs. Asked for medium steak and over medium eggs. The steak came well done and the eggs came just hardly done over easy. Wife liked the lobster bisque. The service was just off from the time we tried to sit down until when we left. I wait almost 30 minutes for a straw. I'm going to assume you have to ask for them because if you don't ask, you're not getting one. The place is layer out nice and looks very clean. My first and not my last visit to Stoney River!! What a beautifully decorated restaurant! In addition, the service, food, and drinks were great! We had their Steak Egg Rolls as an appetizer and they were so delicious! We didn't mean to eat them all because we certainly wanted to save some room for our entrees, but we couldn't help ourselves lol. For our entree, we had the Turf and Tide with garlic mash potatoes. Now even though the dish was very tasty and flavorful, it was served cold. We reported the issue to our waitress who then sent a manager to our table to correct the issue. Even though he gave us a new plate, the steak was still not as hot as we would've preferred, I believe the Dijon Blanc sauce made the steak medallions on the cold side. But a good ole oven would fix that issue. Lastly, we also ordered a cookie dessert which came with vanilla ice cream, which was very decadent and rich. Came in with my mom and brother for the first time. Atmosphere is very nice and clean. The hostess was friendly and greeted us upon entering. Our server Hannah was amazing! Very kind and personable, she helped us navigate the menu and had great suggestions. There was a slight discrepancy with my mom's food but the manager Joe came right over and got everything squared away promptly. Great overall experience and the food and my mojito were great. I'd definitely come again.
