What a fantastic meal, starting with the bread, a warm cinnamon almost donut-like treat.The food was spot-on--the prime rib and ribeye were cooked perfectly to order. Ian gave us top-tier service, never letting a glass go empty while keeping things professional and friendly. We really enjoyed watching the kitchen crew in action from our table, all while relaxing in a quiet, comfortable dining room. A visit from the manager to ensure we were happy capped off a flawless evening.

My husband and I celebrated our 49th anniversary here and this was our first visit. Nice Ambiance. Our waitress was great!! She was always looking and ready to refill drinks and asking how we were. We started off with the creamy crab dip with baguette which was rich and tasty. I got the lobster bisque while my husband got a salad. Main entree, my husband got the pecan-encrusted trout and I got the Nola grilled shrimp. Everything was so delicious. And to celebrate the waitress bought us a most delicious chocolate cake!

We came here for our 10th Anniversary dinner. I made a reservation through the Resy app, so it was very easy to do. We were seated quickly. They have plenty of parking on site. The restaurant was very nice. I ordered a glass of wine. My husband got the Manhattan. Then the bread came out and the rolls are like a delicious cross between a donut and a roll with sweet butter. For dinner we both got side salads with our meals, which were big enough to be an entree so we could've shared one. We both got the lobster bisque, which was delicious and I highly recommend.i got the lamb chops for my entree. The staff was amazing. I was happy with my meal but the manager came out and said they were making an extra lamb chop because they felt the size of the ones that were made weren't big enough. I was shocked at the level of detail and customer service, in a good way. That has never happened to me. The portions were decent and we had leftovers to bring home. I would definitely recommend this place for a celebration. We had a great time. The food was good and our service staff were wonderful. Our server even brought us champagne to do a toast to our anniversary.

Within the first few seconds of being seated, my arm stuck to the table. My side of the table had not been wiped of whatever the last patron spilled on it. My first impression did not bode well for the rest of my meal. We were greeted, our server introducing herself and completely ignoring the person who followed her around all evening (I'm assuming she was training). The named server went over what each menu contained and then recommended the egg rolls. We instead both ordered lobster bisque. The large bowl of bisque had a respectable amount of lobster but it had an odd aftertaste of "heat". Something that didn't have a specific flavor note nor anything melding it to the dish. It was just weird. I ordered the bistro chicken substituting a baked potato for the mashed. The chicken was served warm, not hot. This may be part of the reason for the panko breading being mushy. I scraped off what I could though I also lost the sauce. I gave my husband a large piece to try. He didn't eat but one bite. He said it was all mushy breading. My potato was hot but had been sitting too long as evidenced by the hard brown chunks of potato mixed with the rest. My husband had cedar plank salmon. The large piece of salmon was executed well - moist and flaky. It lacked in flavor - a lemon wedge probably would have gone a long way. He did have the mashed potatoes and was disappointed. Both of our meals were served with broccoli. We had to ask for bread - small, sweet rolls more dessert like than a bread accompaniment. While my husband had an old fashioned, I had a Sazerac. It was smooth though way too much absinthe in the last few sips - the bartender didn't take the time to properly swirl the absinthe. The serving sizes were large and we took plenty of food home, though I doubt neither the potatoes nor my chicken will be eaten. The unacknowledged server finally checked on us as we were finishing. I told her about the chicken. Our server with a name came by a few minutes later and offered to remake my meal, an offer I would have appreciated about 15 minutes earlier, not when I'm obviously finished (or obviously have given up). The restaurant was much less than half full yet was very loud - the music was so loud that the patrons had to speak up to be heard. Definitely took away from what could have been an intimate dinner. My husband and I always talk about my review after our meal. He said he was at 4.5 stars. Since I'm writing this review, I'm overriding his assessment and giving Stoney River a very generous 3 stars. I'm disappointed, I really expected a much better experience.

I had a pretty good experience at stoney river ! The restaurant was clean and welcoming. My server was very kind and attentive. I had a spectacular espresso martini and the cedar plank salon. The salmon was very fishy and not my favorite, probably wouldnt worder again. My creamed spinach and mashed potatoes was delicious! Overall a decent experience. Would definitely to back for date night.

Stoney River delivers solid flavor and quality, and the ambiance makes the experience even better. The atmosphere is classy, dimly lit, and upscale without feeling overly formal. It is a great spot for a date night or a special evening out. We started with the crab cake. It was definitely good, flavorful, and nicely prepared, but at 18 dollars for a single crab cake, it felt a little steep. The standout of the night was the Wild Mushroom Meatloaf. It was hearty, well seasoned, and something I would absolutely reorder. We paired it with asparagus and Parmesan fries. The asparagus was fresh and succulently seasoned, cooked just right. The Parmesan fries were crispy and flavorful and made a great complement to the meal. I ordered the London Dip, which had good flavor overall, especially paired with the roasted wild mushrooms. That combination worked well together. However, for the price point, I think next time I might try something else on the menu. It was good, just not quite as memorable as the meatloaf. We also tried the smoked gouda mac and cheese, which was rich and tasty and definitely a solid side option. Overall, Stoney River offers good quality dishes with strong flavors in a classy setting that makes it perfect for date night. A few items feel priced on the higher side, but I would return, especially for that meatloaf.

Went here for a birthday celebration (table for 4, not a party). We sat in the bar area and had a good time. The staff was personable and inviting. I had the French dip. Was it the best I've ever had, no, but it was good. My wife had the lobster roll, which she enjoyed. Would repeat if you're looking for a nice place for dinner.

My wife and I were seated as soon as we arrived (on time with our reservation) on a Tuesday night. The booth we sat at was clean and comfortable with soft lighting. Our waitress, Ariel, was very attentive and made sure we had plenty of zero. We had drinks--wine and a Manhattan cocktail. The food was quite tasty and full of flavor. The bread that came to the table was very good. Almost sweet cornbread muffins but a different texture. I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon with mashed potatoes and a substitute side of creamed spinach. She had grilled shrimp with creamed corn brûlée. Fabulous if you have a sweet tooth. Overall, we had a great time enjoying a special midweek dinner eating out on the town. We would highly recommend Stoney River if you want good food and a special treat.

There are two components to my review - the food and the service. We made reservations at Stoney River to celebrate and were looking forward to a nice meal and experience. The ambiance was the perfect blend of nice steakhouse with a fine dining feel, even though most patrons were dressed pretty casually. We were early to our reservation, so we grabbed a drink at the bar. I had a Martini that was delicious and my boyfriend had The Draper, which was right up his alley. Our bartender was friendly and quick to take our order. Our table was ready right on schedule, and we were seated in a booth right by the kitchen. Service: Unfortunately, I was not pleased with the service. It wasn't what I excepted at a restaurant of this caliber. I didn't want our food to arrive on top of each other, so we waited until our salad arrived to place the order for our entrees and glasses of wine. That was a mistake. We finished our drinks and our salad and then waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually our waiter came by to tell us it would be "just a second" and we requested waters. And then we waited. And waited. Eventually the water came, but still no food. I thought "well maybe he'll bring our wines, at least" but that was a no. Eventually, the food did arrive and then after that so did our wine. I know they're new, but I guess I would've just done things differently from a service point of view. And while there were other tables, it wasn't like they were super busy. Food: I had the swordfish, which was incredible. I would change nothing about that dish. It came with rice and the seasonal vegetable I chose was cauliflower. That had some heat to it, but was still delicious too. My boyfriend had the filet medallions and had ordered it medium rare. Two out of the three were overcooked, so that was unfortunate, but the flavoring of the steak was on point. We had wanted dessert with a glass of bubbly, but by time our wine came out for our entrees, we had a decent portion of wine left by time we were done eating. We settled for just the white chocolate creme brûlée, which was still a good pairing with our red wine. Overall, four stars. We will return, but are going to wait a bit and hope they figure the timing of things out.

Went on a date with my wife here as our 2nd visit, (our first visit was lunch). Overall the appetizers are great, we tried the egg rolls & deviled eggs on this visit. The staff was friendly and attentive so that's a huge plus!. However, the aged coffee ribeye left much to be desired. At $65 my expectations were much higher. All and all, it was a great experience, but as a steak lover, I was disappointed. read more

My husband and I really love this place. The atmosphere is very nice. Dim and quiet. The rolls they bring before the meal are addictive. They taste like a poppyseed muffin and cornbread had a baby. Yummy! We usually get their steaks--all cooked perfectly. The servers have always been wonderful. I would have given 5 stars, but the last time I came for lunch the hostess was very dismissive and never smiled and it wasn't busy. That was a little off putting, but the waitress we got that day was a delight. read more

I am beyond impressed with this place and I would give more than 5 stars if I could! To start, the lady who sat us explained what each menu had on it which I really appreciated. The menu for food wasn't too overwhelming and had a good variety of choices. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had plenty to drink. We got the steak egg rolls as an appetizer and I was super impressed with the amount of food they gave and the quality! I got the Cedar Plank Salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Again, very impressed with how much food was provided. Representation of food: great. Prices weren't crazy. Most places charge a lot more/or same price for a lot less food. Also, service at other places is not near as good as here. The staff really cares and I believe the owner came by to ask us how everything was at the end. Lastly, the ambiance was great. Very high quality. I will definitely be back!!! read more

Food was amazing ... the crab dip, crab cakes, and the steak frites were all very good. The filet medallions and crab cakes specialty entree was outstanding and paired extremely well the perfectly prepared one-pound baked potato (one of the best baked potatoes I've had). The steak salad was extremely good. Service was good. Ambiance is fantastic. Excellent food in a very comfortable and upscale environment. Definitely will return. read more

My first and not my last visit to Stoney River!! What a beautifully decorated restaurant! In addition, the service, food, and drinks were great! We had their Steak Egg Rolls as an appetizer and they were so delicious! We didn't mean to eat them all because we certainly wanted to save some room for our entrees, but we couldn't help ourselves lol. For our entree, we had the Turf and Tide with garlic mash potatoes. Now even though the dish was very tasty and flavorful, it was served cold. We reported the issue to our waitress who then sent a manager to our table to correct the issue. Even though he gave us a new plate, the steak was still not as hot as we would've preferred, I believe the Dijon Blanc sauce made the steak medallions on the cold side. But a good ole oven would fix that issue. Lastly, we also ordered a cookie dessert which came with vanilla ice cream, which was very decadent and rich. All in all, despite the mishap, we will be back soon to try other items on their menu. read more

Came in with my mom and brother for the first time. Atmosphere is very nice and clean. The hostess was friendly and greeted us upon entering. Our server Hannah was amazing! Very kind and personable, she helped us navigate the menu and had great suggestions. There was a slight discrepancy with my mom's food but the manager Joe came right over and got everything squared away promptly. Great overall experience and the food and my mojito were great. I'd definitely come again. We had the steak eggrolls and crab dip for appetizer, lamb chops, ribeye, filet medallion and crab cake, mushrooms, loaded baked potato, asparagus, mashed potato's and the creamed spinach. read more

Possibly the worst dip I've ever had. 16$ for a pile of wilted spinach with some Parmesan sprinkled on top. The one star is for taking of my check. Eaten here 7 times and been disappointed 6. Only thing I have had that was price worthy was the bistro chicken Probably never coming back. J Alexander blows this place out of the water. read more

This was our fourth visit to Stoney River and it was perfect, as always. The atmosphere is open, modern and welcoming. We sat at the bar which is our preferred seating. My husband ate the steak burger which he loved. I ordered the Bistro Chicken again; it was just as superb as the last time. Jess and Dakota were attentive and took excellent care of us. They moved with a sense of urgency without appearing stressed. True professionals! Perhaps my favorite thing about Stoney River is the consistency in great food and top-notch service. read more

it is so hard to say what is the best of my experience this evening. My in-laws took me there for my birthday and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was excellent, nice serving sizes, and delicious. Their drink options were well thought out as well as their food menu. Desserts were huge, well plated, and delicious. For a rainy Wednesday, all the tables were full. The table service provided by Jetta/Jada, not exactly sure how to spell her name, was so professional and well above anything I have ever experienced. The rest of the staff worked together so well that it was amazing to watch. The open kitchen was clean and organized. Everyone seemed happy to be there. I even saw the bus person pull picked up plates from our server as they passed so she could concentrate on guests without 'batting an eye'. read more

Really enjoyed this place now that we have one in Huntsville. I've been to one in Nashville before and had a great time. My table ordered the spinach dip, cheesesteak egg rolls, and I had the filet medallions with shrimp. Everything was cooked basically to perfection. Server was very nice but he kinda disappeared on us the second half of the reservation. Ambiance is nice and relaxed but still upscale. Will be back. read more

Everything about this restaurant was subpar for the price. It took more than 15 minutes after being seated for the server to take our drink order, and we only ordered waters. The food was just "eh!"...this chain used to be decent (i previously ate at the Cool Springs restaurant in TN). I find a lot of these restaurants that used to be "scratch" or unique are going cheap and quick. Unfortunately, this is a bad move. Go towards the "hole in the wall" restaurants. read more

This is one of our new favorite steak restaurants. Even so, we last had the double bone pork chop and grilled salmon. Both were good. We started with the crab dip appetizer and split a chop salad. Excellent. Service was excellent. Value was good. read more

My hubby and I walked into Stoney River for the first time thinking we would be waiting a long time to be seated. The hostesses were sweet and let us know the wait was a bit long, 30-40 minutes, but there was seating available at the bar. We opted for the bar. At the bar, we were greeted by Jada. Jada was AMAZING. She was sweet, swift, and listened to my particulars on how I like my chocolate martini. She made the best chocolate martini that I've had in years! Jada was also very knowledgeable about the menu. She was able to tell us the specials and answered my questions with ease. She also took our drink, appetizer, and meal order all at once with no problem. As for the food, it was phenomenal! We started with the Salmon Croquettes, a specialty for the night. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, well cooked, and full of flavor. I had the Branzino - another specialty for the night. It was perfect. The lemon butter sauce was well seasoned and the fish was cooked to perfection. The haricot very were not consistently cooked, but the seasoning was spot-on. The rice was perfect. My hubby had the lamb. Although they were on the small side, they were well seasoned and very tasty. One of the chops was overdone, but was still good. The mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and creamy. All in all, this restaurant has piqued my interest with other menu choices, so we will be back to partake of other yummy dishes. read more

Very good food, service and ambiance. I had the steak medallions and crab cake. It was good but the steak medallions and jumbo shrimp were better because of the sauce. I didn't have the carrot cake it looked very good and HUGE! I highly recommend Stoney River. read more

The servers were excellent and attentive, but not overly so. In other words, we had time to talk. We split an order of prime rib, 16 oz. Ordered medium rare, got medium. Our friends ordered a different steak, medium +. They got rare. They asked to have it reheated, it came back well done. At that point they gave up. They ordered deviled eggs as an appetizer and split them. The eggs were creamy and just enough spice. Very good. We split the lobster bisque, I'm no great judge of this, but it was absolutely delicious by my standards. Excellent base and just enough chunks of lobster to share and be enjoyable. The manager came by to check on our friend's underdone steak and offered to comp an appetizer or a drink, our friends declined. It was a nice gesture. After reading so many reviews of incorrectly cooked meals, I'm not sure I was entirely surprised. Still just a little disappointed. Our waiter Chavon, forgive me if I spelled it wrong, was the best. He bent over backwards to make our experience exceptional. I had the pecan crusted swordfish which was excellent. The sweet potatoe cassarole was to die for. My husband and I have small apetites. We ate half our dinners and when Chavon mention key lime pie, I asked for a slice to go. He not only comped us some champaigne while we waited, he also comped us a slice of the chocolate ganache cake, which I had also wanted to sample. We will most definately be back. read more

Decided to try this out for our anniversary after hearing rave reviews and were impressed from start to finish. The atmosphere is very nice, a little on the upscale side but still comfortable. The food was fantastic, I'll never get over that amazing bread! We both ordered the coffee cured filet and it was delicious. Corn creme brûlée = absolutely decadent. My husband had the smoked gouda mac and cheese and loved it as well. Everything we tried tasted as if no shortcuts were taken in the preparation. Fresh ingredients, prepared to perfection. This is going to be our new special occasion restaurant - and now we will have to create more special occasions, lol. read more

I have loved Stoney River since my Atlanta days. The little donuts and caramelized mashed potatoes were my favs. The food is still great. They did away with the yummy mashed potatoes. The service was on point. I was there during the day but would imagine its cost at night. read more

Very busy Saturday night, kitchen was busy. Service was great. Good atmosphere overflow parking across from restaurant. I've eaten fantastic cedar plank salmon and the bistro chicken with several sides. All very good. On this particular Saturday night I decided to get bistro chicken with smoked gouda Mac n cheese with parmesan bread crumbs, the wild mushrooms to go. Very different experience. Mac n cheese had no parmesan bread crumbs and I had to go back in to ask for the poopy seed biscuits. Lastly the menu prices listed on line have increased, my bistro chicken increased $4.00. First time visiting the Madison location of Stony River. The interior is very nice and comfortable and even though the dining rooms were full the noise level was low and conversation at the table was easy. The chicken and spinach filling is delicious and the noodles are perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad has a nice twang to it and it was very well chilled which I really prefer. The Bruschetta is my favorite appetizer and i love the olives with the balsamic glaze and cheese, it's different but very tasty. Not really a fan of the scampi or the angel hair pasta dishes since those seem to be overcooked each time, but the cannelloni really did it for me this time. The service is great, drinks were constantly being filled and wasn't in a rush to order. Each waitress/waiter has been nice and attentive. The atmosphere is nice, laid back, nothing fancy, but just a nice casual dining experience. On super busy night it can be a bit loud, but if you go early for lunch or their early bird dinner specials it's perfect.
