New Zealand Lamb Chops with green beans and mashed potatoes
    Evett T.

This was my second time at Grille on Main. Each time I ordered the same dish...trout. Each time it was consistent with freshness and taste. The lamb chops were huge and tasty. I don't always do dessert but tried the cheesecake. It is delicious. It is made fresh and it is obvious. It is light and not overly sweet. The service from the hostess to our service was professional. The ambience was grown and cozy. Great date night spot.

I ordered the NY strip cooked medium. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was well prepared and flavorful. The green beans were way too undercooked and the mashed potatoes had no flavor with a consistency of baby food. I'd love to show you a photo of the lobster tail I ordered, but the servers forgot about it under the heat lamp for at least 20 mins. It was tough and covered in enough Old Bay seasoning to render it too salty to eat, so I sent it back. Service was average overall. If you want to charge $40+ for a steak and $24 for a lobster tail- your service needs to be on par and having a single dish inedible is the kiss of death. I definitely won't be back under the current management. I could've had a better meal at a chain restaurant like Outback. One final thought- they initially sat three grown men of average build at a booth meant for two people. We asked to be moved to a table and they did, but it was clear they weren't happy about it.

The ambiance is divine! The service is exceptional. The food worth celebrating! Hands down one of the gems here in HSV. We make a special visit every holiday season we are always impressed and readily reminded why we adore this local spot!

Food was excellent.. service was ok. We stayed at a nearby hotel that gave us a 10% off card for this restaurant and others. They did not honor the discount claiming they have been trying to get their name off the card. We tipped 15%... normally tip quite a bit more. We recouped our $30. Other restaurants honored card

Great service, food was amazing. We tried the short braised beef and the apple cinnamon galette. Sofia was our server and she was very honest about her recommendations and attentive to our table.

This is my favorite restaurant in Huntsville. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Today I had cobb salad with cheddar instead of blue cheese. Amazing!

3.5 stars Came here for lunch on Memorial Day. It wasn't very busy, and although we initially came for the aesthetics, we opted to sit outside given the pleasant weather. **Pros:** The establishment looks nice aesthetically, and sitting outside offers a pleasant view of the fountain and hanging tea lights, adding a nice ambiance. **Cons:** The service was mediocre. The hostess sat us promptly and gave us food menus but neglected to provide drink menus. We were later told by our waitress that they don't offer a drink menu for the lunch crowd, which seemed odd, but she brought us out a couple anyways. Our waitress was competent but somewhat lackadaisical. It took her longer than expected to bring our waters, and after serving our food, she didn't check on us until the end of the meal. The food was okay--not great, not exceptional, just okay. I ordered the Crispy Brussels, which were good but not the best, and the street tacos. The braised beef tacos were juicy with no complaints. My husband's burger was just okay, but our drinks were decent. As visitors to the area, we probably won't return, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others.

This is a beautiful restaurant. We went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was nearly empty. The ambiance is very elegant and upscale. Our seating arrangement was in a booth in the main dining area, but it still felt very private. They have ample seating--indoor and outdoor, and even have a private dining room; so this place would be perfect for a private party. The main attraction during our visit were the warm biscuits with honey butter. Everyone in our group really loved them. I ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT. It was a good sandwich. I've never had fried green tomatoes before and still enjoyed this. I would say it is a little on the drier side, so I would recommend ordering an extra side of the aioli because it really needs more sauce. I also really liked the parmesan fries that came with. They were delicious. My husband ordered the Black Angus Burger and he really enjoyed it. It was flavorful and cooked well. My kids ordered the grilled cheese and cheeseburger. They were very generous portions. The staff was also nice enough to switch out one side of fries for fresh fruit. It's not usually offered with the kid's menu, but they made the accommodation for us. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food is good. Would love to return and try other things on the menu!

Great food & great service! Not a long wait on drinks, apps, or entrees! We went with the Parmesan fries & fried tomatoes for apps, filet & chefs special and ended with the chocolate trio for dessert.

Megan was our waitress and she did an outstanding job. Excellent food and a good selection of wines by the glass. Steak was tasty although not a prime cut to my estimation. Shrimp and grits were excellent with a lot of shrimp. Nice place and first time here. Had the butter cake for dessert and it was very nice. Definitely be back soon.

    Lovely day for brunch!

Lovely day for a morning brunch. We sat outside with a lovely outdoor patio, heating for cooler days & out of the sunshine. We enjoyed the southern man's club sandwich with Parmesan fries & the Two egg breakfast w/ hand cut potatoes, bacon, and toast. My mother loved the toast (ask for jam) & enjoyed their peach Bellini. The home fries were phenomenal! The club was falling apart (just a large sandwich) but really good! I would have rather had the home fries rather than the McDonald's style "Parmesan" fries. Our waitress was busy with the tables outside, so it took a while to get our check but it was such a lovely day we didn't mind!

The waitress recognized that we had a small kid and was very helpful with getting everything out as quick as she could. The mean green egg rolls were amazing! Now for the star reduction.... Cooking a steak right just doesn't happen here. The kitchen manager also seems clueless about how to cook a steak, when to take it off, and what a medium steak should even look like. I ordered my ribeye medium, it came out medium well to well done. They offered to make a new one, which came out purple..... Not even cooked all of the way through. So the waitress takes it back and a few minutes later she brings it back out. Same steak that I had already cut into. The steak was not only very try but again was very overcooked. It was medium well to well done yet again. And more or less she just said sorry about that and left the table. I paid almost $50 for a very dry and overcooked steak. And the reason why I haven't been there in close to over a year was this same issue multiple times before we decided to just go elsewhere. The place is well decorated. And for a Friday night there were maybe 4 tables sat.

We had reservations for Sister and me last Tuesday when the tornadoes were rolling around North Alabama, to celebrate her birthday a couple of days late. The weather was a benefit for us because everyone but us cancelled their reservations in the non-smoking dining room - meaning, we had the whole place to ourselves! We both got the 6 oz filets, and I mentioned to our server that I wanted mine seared on the outside and medium internally. He says, "Oh that's Pittsburgh style," which I had never heard of. Sister got her's "Pittsburgh style" too with medium-rare as her temp. Both steaks were seared beautifully and absolutely exceptional quality! I didn't have to add any salt/pepper or use the sauce they provided. A really sweet gesture was the birthday card waiting for us on our two-top! We ordered appetizers to share: fried green tomatoes and crab cakes. Both were great with my preference being the crab cakes, although I'll ask them to sear them more when I return. Our side salads (Caesar for me and house for Sister) were fresh and delicious! They've stopped serving the bread sticks when you are seated and instead serve fresh bread (a slicked roll). Sister loved her lemon dessert! Their pinot grigio was a steal, at I think $24.00/bottle and was good! Our server was so attentive, replacing all silverware with each course, using that hand-held "sweeper" to capture any crumbs on the table and keeping my vino topped off. He was kind to keep us posted on the tumultuous weather on his phone and by checking the TVs in the adjacent dining room/cigar room/bar. It was lovely to see the Chef, our classmate Joey, and visit with him and to have the dining room all to ourselves! Thanks, Nick's for making another wonderful memory! It is a great spot for a date night or a special evening out. We started with the crab cake. It was definitely good, flavorful, and nicely prepared, but at 18 dollars for a single crab cake, it felt a little steep. The standout of the night was the Wild Mushroom Meatloaf. It was hearty, well seasoned, and something I would absolutely reorder. We paired it with asparagus and Parmesan fries. The asparagus was fresh and succulently seasoned, cooked just right. The Parmesan fries were crispy and flavorful and made a great complement to the meal. I ordered the London Dip, which had good flavor overall, especially paired with the roasted wild mushrooms. That combination worked well together. However, for the price point, I think next time I might try something else on the menu. It was good, just not quite as memorable as the meatloaf. We also tried the smoked gouda mac and cheese, which was rich and tasty and definitely a solid side option. Overall, Stoney River offers good quality dishes with strong flavors in a classy setting that makes it perfect for date night. A few items feel priced on the higher side, but I would return, especially for that meatloaf.
