I had to get my own to go container for my leftovers. We went to the diner to have a nice breakfast. There was a good crown at the diner but we were seated quickly. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful. We each ordered a fried egg with hash browns and bacon. Our orders were delivered in about 5 minutes. Everything was freshly made, served nice and hot and looked amazing. The taste was delicious! We were there twice in a week and had two different servers. Most noticeable for us was the enthusiasm that they had for their workplace. Both long term employees, excited to share their recommendations and very attentive. I barely touched my coffee and that prompted one of the servers to make sure that I liked it. The food was excellent. We were looking for a diner in the area that served breakfast all day. The kids and the adults loved their food. They have a good balance of healthy options and the classic pancake/less healthy but delicious stuff. Finally, the owner was onsite and we met him on the way out to share our experience. Being in business, we were impressed at this this place operated and loved the food. If you live in Madison, this should be a go-to place. If you're stopping over, like we did, check it out! Metro Diner is a win win any time you go. Breakfast is amazing and delicious. I wanted to try it all and for $21 I had coffee, the bissell breakfast which is your choice of meat(I had Turkey sausage links), two eggs cooked to order, hashbrowns or grits (I got the hashbrowns) toast, and pancakes (I added banana to the pancakes), plus a side of the cheesiest grits. It was SO much food I brought home half. The banana pancakes are absolutely best in the area, the bananas are sliced and cooked in the pancake so it almost is caramelized and perfect. The Turkey sausage had a great flavor to it and the hashbrowns were delicious. Hands down it was some amazing coffee as well. Service was great, I got there when they opened and my waitress was very attentive and refilled my coffee multiple times without asking. She was great and provided friendly service and they were getting busy. Atmosphere is great typical diner feel but homey. The breakfast is delicious, service is great. We always enjoy eating here. We come a lot after getting off work at the hospital. They open early AND serve alcohol! The wait is never terribly long and they have amazing mixed drinks. What more could an ER Nurse want?! My personal favorite is the Bloody Mary (made the O'Charleys way). And you can't go wrong with any of the mimosas! I just wish they had the option to order a pitcher! The chicken and waffles with strawberry butter is to die for. You have the option for spicy or normal syrup. The spicy doesn't have too much heat. It's just right. Shrimp and grits is another one of our favorites! Nomtastic! The prices are also fair for the amount of food you get. The tables and restrooms are usually very clean and well kept. I stopped here early and was greeted promptly. I found the restaurant to be very clean along with the bathroom was well maintained. They have an open kitchen so you can see the kitchen as they are cooking your food. The Metro Diner on Airport Road never disappoints, so when we were in Madison and dying for brunch...well, it was an obvious choice for us. Of note: this place is super busy on weekends (unsure about other days), so do yourself a favor and reserve your place on the waitlist online/via phone. Despite the heavy crowds, we were seated promptly once we arrived and our server--whose name unfortunately I missed--kept things moving quickly. She even put up with better half's dad jokes. Coffee was kept refilled, order was taken promptly, etc. My bissell breakfast did not disappoint--the bacon here was a bit better than on Airport Road's, even--and better half's omelet was not only huge but well prepared. No one is reinventing the wheel here, but for a good meal you could do far, far worse. Of note: parking is a giant pain in the rear, this one has more restroom space than the other one in Huntsville but it needed attention (which I will forgive as they were slammed), expect your usual mass of Madison humanity complaining about wait times while tapping their overpriced flats. read more

This was one fantastic breakfast. I had the Protein Breakfast. The sausage links and bacon were great quality for a reasonable priced diner. The eggs on every plate were done to perfection. Service was far beyond your typical diner and was four if not five star level. I was quite shocked by it. Not what you would expect. I have actually been to a Yelp event here locally at our Metro Dinner. I believe most of the delicious food we were served was dinner items. So when I found another location in a city I visited recently, I wanted to see if their breakfast was just as good as their dinner. I decided to try their French toast. It's actually 4 pieces of buttery croissants. And omg, they were so good!! I forgot that they were even croissants and not regular bread. Now unfortunately, the French toast doesn't come with anything so I ordered a side of your typical bacon and eggs. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast.
