Cute little gem in Huntsville is Bubby's Diner. The service was great. We had onion rings, burgers and a reuben. The food was delicious. They even had a drive thru.

Cool atmosphere

Monster Charlly's Pimento Cheeseburger with tater tots

I visited here last Tuesday with my parents for our weekly lunch together. We'd never been before but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The building is easy to find in south Huntsville, just look for the bright blue colors! It's near Rooster's Crow Coffee. They do have a drive through available, which is a nice feature, but we ate together inside. They were doing a pretty good lunch business but we were seated quickly and all our needs were met in a timely manner. The inside keeps up the blue theme but has lots of fun old timey diner / ice cream shop decor. Our waitress was stellar - can't remember her name but she chatted with us a bit about how she loved waitressing so much she left a massage therapist job for it. Her passion and skill showed! She took absolutely fantastic care of us; bonus points because we were being super annoying and indecisive because everything looked amazing on the menu lol. Sadly they were out of a few things we hoped to try (no malt for a chocolate malt, and there was something else too but now I've forgotten it), but overall we were each of us happy with what we got. My mom and I both got the pimento cheese burger while my dad got the Reuben per the recommendation of our waitress. Parents split fries and I had tater tots as our sides, and we took home a piece of strawberry pretzel salad. The pimento cheese burger was hand-pattied and very thick and juicy. The bun was large but managed to hold up to both the burger itself and the gooey pimento cheese. I do wish there'd been a bit more heat/kick to the pimento cheese, but it was yummy and plenty to eat for the price. I actually liked the fries better than the tater tots, but both were good. My dad particularly enjoyed the Reuben. Later, my mom and I split the strawberry pretzel salad. It was delicious (what SPS isn't??), though we did wish the pretzel crust had been more coherent (as opposed to just snapped pretzel sticks kind of thinly held together), and a few pretzels were a tiny bit stale. Overall though, mostly very small complaints. We look forward to returning again in the future for lunch, as well as trying them for breakfast. One of the few places in town that makes corn beef hash - yum yum! Thanks, Bubby's, and well done!

Very quaint little place. The service was GREAT! Now the food... I had the corned beef hash and I want you to know it's AMAZING! A huge pile of corned beef, a generous helping of potato casserole...I can't make you understand how tasty it is! The pancakes and grits are also top notch! For a little place they pack a punch with flavor!

Quick review: good food, casual atmosphere, nice service. Would eat here again. Stopped by with my mom. The atmosphere was casual, a little throwback, and not sparkling clean. It was also a little out of our way in South Huntsville but we had some time and I always hear the ads on 97.7 ESPN. My entree was a tough choice because a lot of their options sounded so good. The server was very nice and helpful. She mentioned the top selling burgers, sandwiches, and meat-and-three options. My mom picked the meatloaf, mashed potatoes/gravy, fried okra, sweet cornbread, and corn nuggets. The potatoes were thick and didn't appear instant. She loved them. She was a little turned off with the hunky onions in the meatloaf, but I warned her they'd probably be in there. She still enjoyed it after picking them out. Was a little snafu with a bread tie in the gravy. That was disappointing but the server handled. But I heard her say this has happened more than a couple times. Got a fresh side of them to go with leftovers. I got the bacon jam burger and I'd definitely get it again. It was delicious. It is also pretty big. So come with an appetite. Got my fries extra done and they were good. Not much salt though, could use a but more. Finished off with a mint chocolate chip milkshake. All in all just over $30 with tip. We enjoyed it and would come back.

For the perfect diner experience, come here. It's a bit small in size but big on charm. Service was quick and friendly and this place is great for kids and families. Oh and the food was good!

I just love it! Ambiance is as close to mom's kitchen as it gets! We drove 30 minutes from Huntsville to have lunch. And the price--in a metropolitan area, you'd pay 3x the price of a plate. Delicious!!

There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. There is also an ice cream machine that my wife swears tastes just like Chik-fil-a's. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. If you're a local, its probably a staple and you already know. 5 stars, would recommend. Thanks!

This was Southern hospitality at its finest, wrapped in incredible food and genuine warmth from the moment our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team walked through the door. The owner and staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and hospitable to our group, treating us less like customers and more like honored guests. The owner personally sat with our team, walking us through the menu item by item, sharing stories, and offering recommendations on his favorite dishes. That personal touch set the tone for the whole lunch and made the meal feel both special and deeply personal. The food itself was soul-satisfying in every way. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite. The catfish was especially delicious as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, embodying everything you hope for in classic country cooking. And the banana pudding was a standout, instantly transporting me to memories of dining in Savannah, with that rich, comforting, homemade taste you feel in your soul. From start to finish, everything about our visit to G's Country Kitchen was outstanding...the hospitality, the conversation, the food, and the feeling of being truly cared for. Many thanks to the owner and the entire staff for a great experience and a lunch that our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team will not soon forget.

The food itself was a mixed experience. The sides reminded me of cafeteria-style fare (similar to Piccadilly's). The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came from a box, with a liquid cheese sauce, and my meal arrived lukewarm. On the positive side, my husband really enjoyed his salmon croquettes, calling them "delicious." Overall, Walton's offers a pleasant, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food and service could use some polishing to match the beauty of the space.

We were promptly seated and handed one hand written daily menu with the Meat Special of the day (which was Meatloaf), along with the available sides. There were two menus clipped to the wall but three members in our party. I stole one from a nearby table without anyone noticing. The prices seemed very reasonable ($10~) for most lunch items. They serve Coke products (no Coke Zero, sadly). Our orders were promptly taken. I ordered some 'Pot Sticker' (4) with soy sauce and a Club Sandwich. I usually order a Club Sandwich to evaluate a diner, but I'm also a fan of Pot stickers and a fatty so I grabbed some of those as well. My faithful companions ordered a Happy Burger and a Philly Cheese Steak. The sandwiches didn't say that they came with fries (unlike other menu items), so that was an unexpected bonus. The wait staff was pleasant but not exactly friendly. My food came out after an interminable time. The Pot sticker was... not good. Probably the second worst Pot stickers/dumplings/goyza that I've ever had. My wife is half asian and her mom ran multiple Chinese food restaurants whens he was growing up, so I eat them.fairly often both frozen and in restaurants (as well as home made when I visit the Mother in Law) and these dumplings were bad. The 'soy sauce' was worse. I could only identify it as soy sauce because the menu said the pot stickers came with soy sauce. When I dunked half a pot sticker in the sauce it came up stained black like a sinners soul and the sauce tasted like fish sauce or motor oil. To sanity check, I insisted one of my coworkers also try one and they were also repulsed. Said it was horrible. The rest of the food (at least main courses) were great! I enjoyed my club sandwich a lot. Little small, but cheese was melted and it was delicious. Fries looked like Ore-Ida very bright yellow) and came out without salt or seasoning but that was something I could fix with three generous shakes of a salt shaker. My companions enjoyed their meal (a Happy burger and a Philly cheese steak) a lot. One said the Philly cheese steak was 7 or 8/10, the other said the burger was one of the best he'd had. The interior was a little hot and stuff, interior a little dirty/greasy -- very much a 'greasy spoon'. There's a great value proposition as long as you avoid asian food, and the main courses are tasty. Give it a shot at least once.
