Really great teriyaki bowl and fun drinks ! Great service and enjoyed the inside / outside patio

This place has great burgers! Came here with a group and we were able to find a cluster of tables together. It's a seat yourself place. I got the mini juicy Lucy burgers. I highly recommend. I got a side of tots. They didn't come out to lil later and seemed a lot less than what other people received with their entree. Could be because it was separate too. I would definitely come back here. They also give military discount which we all appreciated. read more

The food was tasteless and cold, the restaurant was hot and our waitress rushed us to place our order to the point that I just ordered something my eyes landed on and was told that they were out of the ingredients. The staff was hiding in the restrooms to avoid responsibility. I don't write reviews, but I felt this one was needed. read more

Drakes is a fun bar in south Huntsville for sports, good food, and a solid beer list! The actual restaurant is pretty large and great for groups. We had 8 adults and 2 kids in our party and we were seated immediately. The menu has a lot of variety including burgers, salads, chicken, and sushi. The sushi did look good (and we heard good things) but we opted for bar food instead. We started with the fried pickles which were super tasty, and there were plenty to go around. I ordered the bbq burger and my husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich, both of which were really good and plenty of food! The fries and tots were really good as well. Several people in our party got the chicken fingers, which was also a great choice. They had a good selection of local beer, which is a plus for me. They had TVs on everywhere with sports on, so you won't be missing a game. Great place for a fun night out with solid food! read more

Food took a long time to come out. Worst loaded tots on the planet. Got the large order. Soggy not crispy . Would fall apart when trying to use a fork or chopsticks Smothered in too much dressing. I think they were really undercooked as if they were thawed out and then popped in the microwave. I was with out of town people . Like a fool, I took them home instead of making a scene and sending them back to the kitchen . They were completely inedible by the next day, no way to fix them. Something must have been wrong with the kitchen staffing that day. It doesn't take a genius to use a fryer and cook something until it's crispy. I think Drakes just lost future business from me and my relatives because there are so many other good choices around town. Once soggy twice shy. read more

Hadn't been to Drakes before so decided to try it out around noon on a Saturday with my wife and two kids. Despite being pretty busy we were seated without a wait. Waitress was nice and took orders, drinks arrived pretty quickly. Ambiance was kind of a brighter sports bar but still family-friendly. Loud music and conversation but not obnoxiously so, lot of families present. On to the food. Let's be honest - the place is a little on the expensive side. Cup of chili for $6, salads start at $14 and go north of $18, all the burgers are $14+ with one side etc. That being said, I don't knock of stars for higher prices, you can check the menu before you show up and go elsewhere, but I do want to point it out. I ordered the Triple Double cheeseburger Sliders and was able to sub out the side for chili for $2, which I felt was a good deal. The burgers were well done but sliders are kinda to get anything else and they tasted good. To be fair, they didn't ask how I wanted them so that's just how they come. No complaints about the burgers besides the size. Chili seemed like it was made fresh and tasted really good. Scattering of beans, hamburger was diced very fine. Great flavor, not too hot or top greasy. Wife got the chopped Chicken Salad but opted to swap out chicken for salmon. She thought there was a bit too much dressing (order it on the side). She fel the salmon was cooked a little more then she asked for but was still good -- a good entree sized serving of salmon. Everything else in salad was great. Kids got mac-n-cheese and chicken strips. The chicken strips were grilled and they were probably the best kids chicken s trips I've tried. My daughter thought they were one of the better ones she'd tried as well. Mac-N-Cheese was good. $65 prior to gratuity for all that, two waters, 1 soda and a 23oz beer. Kinda high but they offered a military discount that was very generous. Came out to just over $51 after discount which I appreciated a lot. As long as you are OK paying for quality good, you won't be disappointed -- food here is great and service is good too. read more

The atmosphere was great, lots of TVs. My boo had the mushroom Swiss burger which she said was delicious with the sweet potato fries. We sat at the bar and the bartender who also took our order was very friendly and attentive. I had the fish and fries, the fish seemed like it was Gordon's fish, like it came out of a microwave. I thought it was going to be freshly cooked fish, not good. The drinks were awesome. read more

Went for lunch with colleagues. Our dishes didn't seem super clean which made me thankful I didn't order any sushi Otherwise, the food tasted good. Everyone really liked what they ordered which were several salads, Buffalo wings, and sliders. They have an extensive menu. There are several TVs which were playing 80s & 90s music videos & sports. Large eating area around the bar. They seem to have a good happy hour. I would probably try them again (especiallyif i need to wait out traffic). Support local. read more

Drake's nails it... great food, great vibes, and even better service. Where else can you get killer burgers, crispy chicken, fresh sushi, and fried fish all in one place? The menu has something for everyone, and the drinks (alcoholic and not) are just as impressive. Our waitress KB was phenomenal... friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience shine. The food was sooo good, but KB's service took it over the top. Five stars all the way! read more

I love this place! Every time I've been there the food is great, just the perfect bar food. Plus their sushi is very good, which is surprising for a bar. I've had several of the seasonal cocktails, they are delish with the right amount of alcohol. Service is very good as well. All the waitresses are very attentive and nice. As for the ambiance it's a typical bar, it's great to watch a game and the crowd is usually lively. read more

The sushi is my favorite thing on the menu. I like the burgers as well. The buffalo chicken dip is always our go to app. But man they have the BEST sushi I've ever had!! I tried their burning love roll & I can't remember the one on the picture but both just so good! They have two bars and for the most part it's self seating unless it's busy of course. I went there one time and it was not that late. Around 9:30 ish. I sat at the bar and let's say the place looked like a ghost town. One customer was sitting at the bar and looking at his cell phone. Food was good, service was great. I found it odd that the menu had American styled foods and sushi. I was honestly skeptical about trying the sushi but when seeing it being brought out to other tables I do wish I tried a roll or two. I ended up ordering the Patty Melt, it was okay. I couldn't really pick up any horseradish. Southwest style egg roll appetizers were pretty good on the other hand. The establishment itself was pretty cool, decorative for the October festivities. The smell of the wood burning was a bit harsh (but that's just because I have a sensitive sense of smell) the rest of my party did not mind it at all. Over all I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

I was able to relax and dine in this time. Ordered a quesadilla and it was just everything it was so good the bell peppers just needed to be cooked a bit more but otherwise it got downed with their house made salsa which was aromatic and tasted so fresh. Also got their wings which the sauces for all their wings is also made in house including the ranch which was so good. We got the Buffalo wings. Good size and very juicy. Even the celery sticks were fresh! And lastly we finished off with some cheeseburger slides with Drake sauce. Now these were burgers soft buns, meat was fresh ground beef, and that Drake sauce is to die for! Go to Drake's whenever you're in Huntsville, Alabama it's worth it! read more

Went to Drake's for the first time in several years tonite. They had the from bar area opened to the sidewalk giving the appearance of a cafe. The server Lisa was just wonderful very attentive and recommended various types of sushi. I had some white wine and the half platter of sushi. The entire experience was marvelous. I highly recommend Drake's for the food, service and atmosphere! read more

The burger was good however, none of the fresh sides, such as lettuce, pickle, tomato, onion, or lettuce or included as they should've been per my order and the fries were cold. This is the first time I've done pick up however, I go in periodically and it's always great food and good service in restraunt and I will return, but I don't think I'll be doing pick up again. Edit: customer service is amazing- I expected nothing from my reviews but they reached out and I will definitely be giving drakes pick up another chance! read more

We stopped by Drakes for a late lunch. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised with the relaxed atmosphere. Once seated, we were greeted promptly by Nae. We split a mushroom Swiss smash burger with a side of fries. Nae had the kitchen divide the entree into separate plates. The smash burger was absolutely delicious. It was juicy and flavorful with the right amount of lettuce, pickles and tomatoes. We will definitely be back for another! read more

Happen to stop by here randomly and it's an odd place. To start its in a shopping center with mostly restaurants, not sure if that's a Huntsville thing or what. It advertises burgers and sushi, which are an odd combo anywhere much less here. So the atmosphere is like an Applebees, but there is a fireplace that makes it smell like a bbq place, and then in the middle of a hall there is a 5 foot sushi bar. I played it safe and got the mini juicy Lucy burger with tots. It was very good and all the burger toppings were fresh. It was not busy at all and there were plenty of servers. Mine was attentive but not really friendly. If you're group wants burgers and sushi this place is worth a try. read more

I had some people recommended this place for sushi and I really wanted to try it. This review is for mainly the sushi and the packaging. I ordered through doordash and it looked so sad. 2 specialty rolls, Drake yum yum&Fantasy roll 3/5 The rolls are so tiny like regular rolls. They all taste light and only can taste the Mayo as the prominent flavor. Salmon sashimi, scallop sashimi 2/5 The cuts were like scrapes. It was so thin and tiny. Regular roll, spicy roll 3/5 I couldn't tell the difference between the special rolls and the regular one to be honest. read more

The juicy Lucy- BOOM! Sriracha chicken wings- MAN!! Fried pickles- OH YEAH. Service from Megan was friendly, attentive and she went out of her way to recommended some great sauces to try. Jamie (the manager) literally came out to apologize that the fried pickles took longer because he trashed the first batch because they weren't up to his standards. THANK YOU JAMIE!! What we got was piping hot, crispy fried pickles that were awesome!! And I am leaving here in pain from being so full. I'm so glad we live down the street. I'll be coming back more often!! read more

20200202 update- when they comment they will contact you please do not hold your breath I sent my email to them the next day and haven't heard a word. 20200122 update - I've been to Drake's more times than I have remembered to check in (more than a dozen times now). My Mom lives in Memory Care 5 miles from here and after my weekly visit with I enjoy meeting my best friend for dinner and a glass of wine in the Airport Rd. area before making the drive to Athens. Especially lately, the service and general condition of the restaurant have suffered. By general condition of the restaurant I mean, the temperature - it's chilly to freezing in the winter and their annoying ceiling fans are just that, annoying and chilling in the summer, something about the way they are pointed right at the customer's faces. I know they oscillate, but still they dry out your eyes, and are just pointed at an odd angle. I've already complained about the chairs, at least last evening, making my way through the dark, dankness of the back room/cave, I stumbled upon low top tables with chairs that actually *had* backs (these are back by that table shuffleboard maybe game that no one ever uses)! The lighting is seriously bat cave low, with loud, not-my-taste-for-the-most part music. As you make your way to the restroom, and the light of the kitchen hits the floor mat from the kitchen to the back dining room, you see all the built up crumbs, etc. that should not be there - that's what Bissels are for. Same with the entry way floor mat - dirty. If there was adequate lighting, I'm sure more dirt would be revealed. Couple that with no visible cleaning by any of the staff, who *do* have time to lean, but not time to clean, leaves me questioning the cleanliness of Drake's. I do enjoy their fish and chips on occasion and typically sub broccoli for fries, and I've enjoyed their veggie burger, too. Last night I tried the griddle-seared chicken with broccoli as the side. I asked for it w/o butter which they are happy to comply. The chicken initially tasted great and then there were a few chewy/grisly type bites, but not too excessive. Anyway, I had to send the broccoli back twice because it was nearly raw! After the second time of receiving it reheated from the kitchen it still tasted bad and I was just tired of complaining/sending it back. My best friend had the teriyaki chicken bowl and honestly, what we could see of it (due to the lack of lighting) seemed to be really sparse with the chicken. She was not really that thrilled with her bowl, but did eat half of it and took the rest to go. Prior to joining my friend, I sat at the bar and ordered a 6 oz glass of wine ($9). When we finally received our bills, I was charged for a 9 oz glass of wine ($13), so I had to point out the discrepancy to the server. I was having to interact way more than any guest should have to with the staff...then, we ordered a bottle of wine and I (or 99.99% of patrons who order a bottle of wine would do) wanted to take it the remaining wine home with me. The wine cap was not provided with the bottle (this is normal, nothing weird here) - which added to the time it took to package it. I was asked to produce the receipt to be stapled on the bag. As a rule, I always tear up my copy of the receipt. It didn't take the MOD too long to produce the correct receipt. In general, the service feels like the majority of Drake's personnel are in their work schedule world and you, the customer/guest, "just live in it." It feels like a general apathy and lack of logistical comforts for their customers/guests. The employees tend to cluster around the back bar, doing excessive leaning and (don't know if they are on or off the clock) checking their phones. When I have spent over 50.00 for dinner/drinks and have a nearly 55 minute drive home, after a long work day and Memory Care visit, I'd like a little more attention that Drake's offers. read more

I hate giving it a bad review since it's one of the only restaurants open after 10 pm on weekends in Huntsville... which is completely ridiculous!! But.... The place sucks. They run of food every time we go and have to order things we don't want. The appetizers are super expensive and not good at all. I stopped in for the first time and I was truly impressed. My server Shane, was very nice and shared with me the specials and what he likes. I started off with the Mardi Gras sushi which was amazing. It had the crunch and flavor of so many different things that it's hard to explain. I had the fried white fish with coleslaw. The fish was fried to perfection and the batter has a crunch but doesn't over power the fish. You get 5 pieces with your order. The coleslaw was some of the best I've had at a restaurant. There's more than just mayonnaise in it. It has a sweet taste in it also. I will be coming back because this place is also great for sports watching and they have a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. read more
