I can only review their breakfast since that's the only thing I had, so far. What I can tell you is the people are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and inviting. I've been here twice, once I had their Denver omelette with hash browns and toast. It was very good. Today I had the Big Bite breakfast. It consisted of two eggs over medium, sausage, a biscuit, and grits. Everything was delicious with the exception of the sausage. It's the same sausage you'll get a a Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Finally tried this place and we both enjoyed our meals. We stopped by on a Monday morning and ate breakfast. The place wasn't too crowded and we were quickly seated. Our server was friendly and the food came out fast. The pancakes were light, fluffy and delicious. The bacon, sausage and eggs were equally tasty. This place is very reminiscent of that hometown diner. Noticed a lot of regulars by how the staff knew them by name. The staff works together to take care of the customers. I ordered the country omelette with southern grits and sourdough toast. I absolutely loved the grits and toast. The grits tasted and had the texture of risotto and the sourdough was flavorful and soft with just a slight crunch on the outside. The omelette I wasn't too impressed with. It was salty and the taste just didn't marry well. It was topped with sausage gravy and in the inside had sausage and onions and peppers. It tasted like a Philly cheesesteaks but instead of roast beef it had sausage. Other than the omelette i really enjoyed this place. I would come back and recommend. read more

I was taking my MIL and a dear friend out to lunch - I wanted somewhere close by and Sunny Street fit the bill. My MIL uses a walker and the handicapped spot was immediately in front of the door. I was able to leave the walker in the car and just help her in - if you've ever dealt with a walker you know how much this is appreciated. We were immediately seated and our waitress had our drink orders within minutes. Everything was great until we got our food. I had the half and half with a BLT and the strawberry salad. The BLT was mostly lettuce and I'm not kidding you, there was one strip of bacon cut in half. To top it off, the toast was a little burnt - just not good. The salad was a little better except for the unripened avocado and the candied nuts. They were almost dust - like it was the bottom of the container and that was just emptied onto the salad. My MIL had the half and half with soup and a grilled cheese. As she's not one to complain, I didn't realize until she was almost done that her sandwich was burned on the underside. I mean black burned. I don't know how she ate it. She also said the soup wasn't very good. I don't get her out as much as I should so I was extra disappointed that her lunch was so bad. Our friend had the turkey wrap and a bowl of fruit. The fruit looked wonderful and it was quite a big bowl. She didn't care for the wrap - she said the fillings were scant and she ended up picking off the extra tortilla. On the plus side, our server was great and the restaurant was quiet enough that my friend with hearing aids didn't have trouble hearing the conversation clearly. Sunny Street is almost walkable from my MIL's house (well, not walkable for her but really close by) and it would be nice if it could be our "go-to" restaurant. We had drank our juices and milk along with our ice waters was empty after both waitress walked around and offered all coffee, a few water, tea and sodas I raised my hand not once but twice before we was acknowledged and then seemed to be in the way after an hour and everyone who had been seated before and after us had ate I asked why and our waitress avoided the question so we left at this time it was 11:06am and called to discuss the matter with Glinda the manager at the time who's supposed to return a call and explain until them IHOP down the road delivered seating and pancakes within 20 minutes come on why this place is packed as well. read more

I like SSC. It's nothing fancy, nothing "New American Cuisine-ish," it is what it is a breakfast/lunch café. The staff are always fast, friendly, and helpful and sweet. I love that they offer lower cal/fat items such as the egg white omelet with fruit (Don't want toast? Check - they will sub extra fruit at no additional cost!) Turkey sausage comes with it and I know, that's not really that low in fat, but you could always triple up on the extra fruit and 86 the links. The coffee is standard Maxwell house or folgers and one price is an endless cup. It'll do the trick in a pinch. Their OJ is good event though it has pulp which is so gross. They'll offer you whatever you are drinking (no alcohol BTW) in a "to go" cup which is nice, too. Several times I've gotten a lunch item to go for a noon lunch at work. It seems like the last time I went with some kind of wrap, maybe tuna, with ((sigh)) a side of fruit. It was good. High school class mate Doug Hess's artwork adorns the walls and you can pick up his business card at the checkout and peruse his Alabama (RTR) original art online at your leisure. I think Sunny Street Cafe closes every day at 2 - like I said, a breakfast and lunch place. period. Do try SSC - the more senior and the yutes alike will be dining there and the friendly chatter is a nice change of pace. Well, I pretty much HAVE to give this place five stars because I made it a point to go there two days in a row for breakfast! Their food is outstanding and the place is super clean! But, the service...WOW!!! From the moment you walk through the door you have sweetness poured all over you! The hostesses smile (at least the ones who aren't wearing masks) and are glad to see you. The waitresses are super friendly and attentive without being annoying. My coffee cup rarely emptied but the one or two times it did it wasn't 30s before one of them snuck up behind me with the coffee pot! I LOVE IT! The veggie omelette was better with the addition of feta but still good as offered. Their fruit side is the best I've seen in a restaurant and the biscuits and toast super good. Visited with a friend for a late breakfast/brunch on Monday. We had a pleasant enough time. Sunny Street is right on the Huntsville-Madison border, as I think of it. It's a good drive for me but I was interested in trying something new and not a ton of local places are open on Mondays. So that's a bonus! I had the largest breakfast combo -- can't remember what it's called but it's like most other places' big breakfast meals: two eggs, your choice of meat, grits or hash browns, biscuit or toast, and a pancake or two. I chose bacon and hash browns, and my eggs were scrambled. The eggs were cooked to my liking, maybe a little on the runnier side for others. The bacon was really quite good, the right amount of crispness. I also liked the pancakes -- they were sweet, fluffy, and cakey, but not too much of any of those things. Unfortunately, my toast was forgotten and never got replaced. I also asked for my hash browns extra crispy, and they definitely weren't. My friend got the chicken fried steak. She didn't comment on it, but she did offer me a bite. I rejected it because I don't like the dish much, but I doubt it was terrible if she was willing to let me try. The gravy on it looked a little old, but she didn't complain, so who knows. Service was pleasant personality wise but a little on the slow side for how relatively non-busy it was. Price was a little higher than Waffle House, and given my Waffle House proclivity and how out of the way Sunny Street is, it probably won't be a super high priority pick for me in the future. I'm visiting Alabama to attend a wedding. After a long flight, my sister and i wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast. We stumbled upon this place. We were greeted by a very nice hostess who sat us right away. Our server was very busy with other tables but still managed to be polite, attentive and friendly. Their sweet tea is delicious! Definitely recommend. I decided to get the cinnamon roll pancakes with a side of hash browns and sausage patties. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll really enjoy these pancakes. My partner has told me about this place because he use to work here a few years ago. We decided to go on Sunday morning for me to go try it out. It was pretty pack as any usual Sundays ,if u were to go to any restaurants to dine in.We only waited for a few minutes to be seated at a table. Since it was rainy and windy that day decided to drink a hot chocolate. Now the hot chocolate looked so delicious.It was in a mug with whip creamed swirled around it . Topped off with chocolate syrup . I could not wait to sip on it when the waitress was bringing it out to our table. The hot chocolate was hot but the whip cream on top of it definitely helps to cool it off . When sipping on it will be warm and will not burn the tongue. For the meal I ordered the pumpkin pancakes With Sunny-side-up egg, bacon,& hash browns Let me just say the Pumpkin Pancakes are to die for It was so amazing The pancakes were cooked to golden, fluffy perfection, then it's topped with a tres leches drizzle,& homemade cinnamon butter The butter was melting slowly from the warm pancakes I did not add any maple syrup to it Even though you are able to if you wanted too It was perfect the way it was tbh So so soooo amazing Definitely have to try it read more

When I am in Huntsville /Decatur on a Sunday morning I come here for b-fast. I love breakfast it is my favorite meal of the day. So I love coming to this restaurant. A testament to their quality is that if you arrive at the peak time you will have a wait(30min.+). But it's worth it. I usually get their 'Big Bite' breakfast: eggs (over easy) w. bacon and hash browns. It's excellent the eggs are always perfect, so is the crisp bacon and crispy hash browns. They also have large omelettes with all types of fillings. There pancakes are delicious and large. They also bake their own muffins and cinnamon rolls. If you don't care for breakfast at lunch time they have a full lunch menu of sandwiches and entrees like spaghetti. Check the Sunny Street Cafe out for brunch any day of the week. The chicken tasted like very low quality food, hash browns were undercooked & tasted almost fishy. Was around 7-30ish, not too crowded for a Sunday morning, but the place soon started to fill up as it became the 8 o'clock hour. I ordered the Bananas Foster Pancakes with a side of sausage patties. Pancakes were decent -- fluffy, with carmel drizzled on them. Sausage patties were very tasty. Katie, my server was very attentive.
