Excellent experience! The place was very clean and the staff were friendly. The health rating was 100 and the bathrooms were clean. The menu covers almost any individual taste you may have. My cajun steak sub was yummy, and the fries were outstanding. My only criticism is the size of the drinking cup. I had to make three or four trips to the fountain, but I will say the fountain drinks were mixed properly. Too many places cheap out and try to give you less syrup then they should. This place is not that way.

The food was seasoned really well and very flavorful this visit. There was more cheese this time on the subs but could have been more. Overall everything was great and a much better experience! The service was fast and the food was ready on time for pickup

Young helpful employees. Restroom on site. Free wifi. Offers cookies, chips, sammiches, salads. Ordered: TripleDeliClassic-RoastBeef+HotPastrami, no mayo Pretty tasty. The ambiance was stale but it didnt bother me. Ate lunch peacefully then dipped. Not sure what offers there are for folks with gluten allergies. Menu needs a list of allllllll the toppings to choose from. Check 'em out.

12 inch Maple Bacon Chicken

One of the best sub shops around. This spot is setup fast casual style - not "build your sub" style like Subway and other sandwich shops. You'll spend a bit more, but it's definitely worth it. $15ish gets you a 12-inch sub heaped with protein, a 20oz drink, and 20oz cup full of fresh fries (almost reminiscent of Five Guys). It's incredibly refreshing to visit a sandwich shop that breaks the mold by being generous with meat and offering better sides than a bag of chips. Service was fast and friendly. We tried the manager's special - Maple Bacon Chicken - and the signature Steak Bomb. Highly recommend both.

This is proof that the price tag for my sub was ridiculously overpriced for the low value that I received.

I decided to give Jon Smith Subs another chance. I hate to base my opinions off of one experience, so I just decided to try a different sandwich. I decided to try their Philly Cheesesteak (specifically, the "Steak Bomb"). It was pretty good. The fries were excellent. The only thing that prevents this from being a "5-star" dining experience was the price. I mean, I realize that inflation is hurting everybody right now, but I have a hard time swallowing a sandwich meal that costs north of $20 ($22.18 + a tip = $26.58). For that price, I can almost fly up to Philly & get a local sandwich. I have been to several other sub shops and the price was a little more palatable. Don't get me wrong, the food (this time) was excellent, but I don't see myself going there too often because this price tag was higher than I prefer.

The 12 inch Gator!!

Jon Smith Subs recently opened and was fairly busy. I placed a to-go order and the wait was long but that was probably due to the inexperienced crew. I'll excuse the wait this time. I ordered the Gator and it was very good. I was surprised about the amount of meat on the bread. My wife's sandwich was missing lettuce and tomato and she was very disappointed. While waiting for my order I noticed two customers bring subs back that were not correctly made so they had some quality problems. The large fry is more than enough to feed 3 or 4 people; I'll get the small next time. The prices are a little high, but food prices have increased everywhere. I will try them again, but will give them some time to get the kinks out of the kitchen.

The Gator

Update: Tried this place out for a second time after hearing about it being under new management. The food quality was much better than before. The bread was soft and the toppings had great flavor. Keep up the good work!

For what it is--an elevated but still fast sandwich shop--Jason's Deli delivers…read more It was relatively hopping even at 11am, but the staff were super nice and got us on our way with takeout quickly. I can't comment on the other orders (though they were eaten fast and completely), but my club sandwich was great. Piled high, fresh ingredients, and I liked the pickle--I'm a bit of a pickle snob. There are multiple options for sides, but chips were dandy for me. I snuck a bit of the gumbo and it was also tasty enough. We got our food to go, but the in-house salad bar was a popular choice by most. It was well kept, ingredients looked fresh and inviting, and I'd try it next time. Earlier reviews have complaints that seemed (to me) to have been corrected--it was a clean store (though I didn't visit the restroom), the staff were on point, and we had no complaints. Of note: I could see how parking could become a nightmare during prime hours due to the layout of the shopping center, but that isn't the restaurant's fault.

I was craving a good salad and stopped in here for a quick lunch. I've always loved Jason's Deli…read moresalad bar for its freshness, variety of toppings and presentation. This visit was a bit disappointing. The lettuces were wilted and soggy from the water it was swimming in (I wouldn't have dare left that batch of spinach out like that), the actual salad bar was quite messy and there were remnants of food, including an egg in some of the dressings. I almost decided to skip out and go elsewhere, but I realized I didn't have much time left for lunch and decided to make the best of it. I spent several minutes wiping my Romaine and Spring Mix dry from excess water, before adding any toppings. So disappointed.

I…read morehave not been to any Schlotzsky's location in over thirty years, and I realized that this was a huge mistake while visiting here. The primary reason I came here was because it appeared to be a good restaurant that was within walking distance to where I was staying and I needed to get something for dinner. As I approached, I was pleased with the cleanliness in the parking lot, along with the the Schlotzsky's signage and the pleasant entryway. Shortly after entering, I was surprised to find that I was the only customer inside. This location has a lot of indoor seating available, and there was not a single person here. Since I have not been to any Schlotzsky's location in a very long time it took me a few minutes to consider what I wanted to eat from their menu. The menus displayed inside behind the cashier provide a lot of great options, and I was pleased to see a great number of things I'd like to try. After finally making my selection, a pleasant and professional young man took my order. I was happy that he was very patient with me while I took a few minutes to decide. After ordering, I looked around inside this establishment while waiting for my order. The indoor dining area was well-kept and spotlessly clean. Everything was well organized inside, including all furniture, drink dispensers, condiments, eating utensils, and decorations. Shortly after ordering, a young woman came out to give me my meal. She was also incredibly pleasant, friendly and professional, and she made sure I had everything I needed before departing. After getting back to my hotel to eat, I was really pleased with my decision to come here. I ended up ordering the "Sausage & Peppers Calzone" along with their "Loaded Baked Potato Soup" and a large Sprite. It was way too much to eat for dinner, so I ended up eating the leftovers the next day for lunch. The meal was incredibly delicious. As noted earlier, I have not visited any Schlotzsky's location in a very long time. Clearly this was a mistake on my part. I'll definitely be back to this location, and I'll try other locations as well. To the staff: Thanks for a great experience!

The food is always super fresh and absolutely delicious!! I am constantly craving Schlotzsky's because of how amazing it is - The sauce is so unique and I love the sourdough bread! I would 100% recommend this fabulous restaurant!

I have heard of this restaurant over the years and was excited to try their foods. We were greeted by smiling faces and reviewed the menu and ordered. I asked what was the big seller and was told chicken salad. I ordered a single serving of chicken salad, a grilled chicken on a bun and hubs ordered a Club Sandwich. Inside the restaurant looks dated and smells like old time sandwich bar to me. I could smell bacon when I was ordering out to go foods. Now to the food. I was underwhelmed. The chicken salad had too much Mayo and pickles for my taste. All I tasted was pickles. My grilled chicken was not to my liking due to the black lettuce on my bun. The piece of chicken appeared to be the frozen chopped up and made into a patty type which was not what I thought I was purchasing when I ordered a grilled chicken in a bun. The top of my bun was mashed flat. The Club Sandwich didn't satisfy my husband's expectations. The lettuce had small black spots that are visible in the picture posted. From a taste point of view, it was average. Nothing jumped out. From the time I paid to the time our foods were ready was about 4 minutes if that. The brownie was good but not great. It needed more chocolate taste. The favorite was the peanut butter crispy bar made by Best Maid cookie company. Hubs loved his dessert. I may have visited on an off day. Based on the foods we had, neither of us think we will return. I know locals love this restaurant's foods. Variety is the spice of life.

It was also a food truck for a time; I don't know if the food truck is still operating. The owner recently opened a restaurant in the Winchester Road area too. My eye was caught after the food truck was featured on an Al.com article a while ago, but this iteration of Niyah's was the easiest to access since idk about the truck status anymore. As I mentioned, the restaurant is inside a Texaco on South Parkway. There's no huge signage for it but Google Maps will get you there reliably. There's a smoker out front, which I interpret as a good sign. The food is stored in a hot bar to the left when you walk in. The selection changes daily but some things seem fairly reliably available, like the fried chicken. The lady working didn't acknowledge me for a bit -- I think she was watching something on her phone since they were slow -- but I think she genuinely didn't see me at first; I don't think she was being rude. When I sort of poked my head around the corner she hopped up instantly and was friendly and apologetic. She was warm and kind. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous about the food just because a hot bar isn't really the best vehicle for pretty presentation. I got my order to go and it was placed in a styrofoam box and then a plastic bag. I don't think they have beverages but of course you can grab practically anything to drink from the gas station. I think they forgot to put utensils in my bag, which would've been annoying if I weren't headed home to eat anyway. I got the fried chicken, fried okra, smoked macaroni and cheese, and a roll (cornbread was also offered). Despite my concerns over the appearance in the hot bar, the food was quite yummy! The fried chicken was very crispy and well-seasoned and still plenty moist. Note: I wasn't offered the opportunity to select what piece of meat I wanted, so my husband wound up with some bonus wings that I didn't want, lol. If you're picky about that, definitely pay attention. About half of the okra pieces were a tiny bit soggy but the other half was yummy and crunchy -- they did seem a little old/reheated though. Definitely my least favorite thing. The roll was standard but soft and enjoyable. The shining star for me was the smoked macaroni and cheese. It was delicious! Super flavorful, both in cheesiness and in smokiness. The price was a little high, but you could easily split a meal with someone else (or have leftovers) and the food quality and taste definitely delivered. Give them a try! I look forward to trying out the new restaurant, too.

As we pulled in, I saw a large smoker by the entrance. I could smell the hint of smoked meats. We went inside and to the left of the store is a small takeout business with warmers inside a glass case. We looked at the menu and were warmly greeted by the owner. He named off all the foods he had for sale. He sells meat and 2 plates. We picked out several items to try since the food is supposed to be great. Hubs wanted brisket, fried chicken and smothered chicken. Then he ordered dressing, fried okra, green beans, collard greens, broccoli rice, macaroni and cheese and pinto beans. We brought our foods home to try. We have eaten southern foods since the early 70's Both of us were born and raised outside Alabama. Neither of us has ever eaten foods this salty. There is no other way to explain how salty the foods are. I took my blood pressure and the top number was 121. After eating a few bites, my top number was up almost 40 points. This food is the saltiest I have had. It was terrible in my opinion. The cornbread is very sweet. Close your eyes, take a bite and it resembles a dense cake. Put sweet cornbread in the dressing and it tastes like sweet dressing. Not my cup of tea. I do have friends who like sweet cornbread and sweet grits. Many of us like what we grew up eating. My husband and I did not grow up eating southern foods. If you read my reviews, you know I select pinto beans and turnip greens with cornbread every single time I go to a meat and 2 place. If they don't have turnip greens, I select collard greens and if they don't have pinto beans, I select navy beans or black eyed peas. I try many meat and 2 places all the time and they are not as salty as this food. The smoked brisket was ok but had way too much salt. The fried chicken was moist and very salty. The smothered chicken was not good. Way too much salt on the chicken and the gravy tasted like salt. All I tasted was salt with the different taste of sweet with respect to the cornbread and dressing. I cannot give a high rating for the food due to the high salt content. This food is saltier than any Japanese, Korean or Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. I know there are many people who like the food there. It has to come down to what we are accustomed to eating when we grew up. The owner was friendly and personable and the portions are large but the food is extremely salty and was not enjoyable for us.
