    Trifecta breakfast. Sausage is burnt.
    Gena A.

Service is subpar. Waitress is not interested in waiting on anyone. She seems like she's mad at the world. The bacon was undercooked. The sausage was burnt. Half the potatoes were burnt because they weren't cut evenly. The booth has cloth seat backs, which, of course, we all know will attract bugs. This place is going to have to step up its game, because there are a lot of great breakfast places in this town.

Over cooked eggs, limp toast and soupy grits

I suppose that the less festive time of the year, referred to as 'Tween Mass, is not a very motivating time of year to simply do your job. But waiting 40 mins after placing a to go order only to get home and it not be cooked as ordered is motivation for me to write about my experience of ordering take out instead of coming into a crowd and risking getting the flu. The week of so after the winter holidays is always deadly for some folks. I am one of those folks. We ordered on line thinking this would be the easiest way to eat breakfast. The place was jammed. After reminding wait staff, the cashier, that I had ordered on line, I was told 5 mins repeatedly. Finally some listened and 5 mins later I was head out the door. I am so disappointed. The eggs are hard, the grits are soupy, no butter and limp toast. I live 5 mins away. 50 mins of my life.

Food- excellent! Had a sandwich and sweet honey pecan salad. Delicious Service- Disappointing! Server never came back to check on us. We ran out of beverage halfway through the meal. She only returned with our check after we had finished eating.

Something I've honestly never heard of before

Definitely a place worth stopping at. I was blown away by the delicious breakfast I had at First Watch. I am a country girl to the t and very proud to be so in the beginning I was a little standoffish by looking at the online menu because it at first look seemed to be more on the fu fu side of things. But I was blown away by the deliciousness of the food I ordered. I had the farmhouse hash and when it was first served there was a small black condiment bowl with what appeared to be a boatload of ketchup which honestly put me on pause because I was confused as to why there was a side serving of ketchup plus a huge bottle of ketchup on the table. Luckily the waiter must've noticed the look on my face because he explained that it was actually strawberry preserves. Let me just say hands down that the strawberry preserves were so delicious they could bottle that alone and easily make a fortune. As a matter of fact I even told the lady who checked us out that they should sell the strawberry preserves at the counter. I would easily gain all my weight back and then some if they did sell it. Let me move along, the atmosphere was very nice accompanied by a professional and friendly waiter which made the entire experience a pleasant experience. I'm definitely going back and I'm looking forward to the visit again

    Blueberry Lemon Cornbread

First watch is one of my favorite breakfast spots! Their portions are great for the price. Their service is fantastic everytime I go. My most recent stop, I tried Their lemon blueberry cornbread. WOW! It was amazing. Not so sweet. The blueberries did not overpower the cornbread. And the lemon butter was just the right touch to make the dish perfect! Definitely recommend.

Excellent food choices on the menu- many Ive not seen in this area. They delivered friendly service, fresh airy atmosphere, and delicious food bursting with flavor combinations I haven't had before. There was a 30 table minute wait- but hubby and I chose the bar with no wait. No regrets. Well done First Watch in Madison, AL!

Absolutely delicious! The raspberry French toast is some of the best I've ever had. The ricotta topping is such a unique delightful treat. The carne asada hash is a wonderful savory option. Love the fresh juices and the coffee is always tasty. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We're always received with a friendly greeting making the experience even better. Definitely my favorite breakfast spot.

    BLT Benedict

We came here for brunch at 10am on a Sunday. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait terribly long for a table. We opted to sit outside since it was nice out. Our waitress seemed a little stressed or nervous, but did a good job, I ordered the BLT Benedict, but my poached eggs were not don't very well & wee more runny that a poached egg should be. I got an order of potatoes so I could also keep the greens. Their iced coffees are delicious! We tried the mint mocha and the salted caramel. Both were fantastic. At the end, we got our receipt which had a QR code as a pay option, which I appreciate. Nothing worse than waiting around to pay.

Lightly cooked potatoes. Raw on inside.

The eggs were cooked to medium as requested and the bacon and avocado was delicious. Over all flavor delicious. Potatoes raw, under cooked I ordered and picked up this meal for my wife and two daughters. My wife offered to cook the mash to completion but this is unacceptable. Our food should be cooked before I pick it up. The business is busy but cook the food fully before serving!

Most of the wait staff was wearing very tattered clothing and the worst offender was the bus boy. Although he was working his tail off, he looked like he hadn't showed in several days and hadn't washed his clothes in a week. His bus tub was disgusting. As he was cleaning the table beside us, he put the tub in the table top and as I turned my head to look over I lost my appetite seeing the condition of the tub. To know that he put it on top of the table made me even more disgusted. Not only was he bussing tables but he was also taking plates of food to tables. I, personally, would not have accepted food from him because it's very unlikely he washed his hands after cleaning tables off. Our waiter was nice but he looked very sloppy. I realize I'm not at a white table cloth restaurant but at least make sure the serve staff looks presentable. We won't be back.

I was surprised he liked hot sauce on his eggs, for example, and he said he did, which is great because one dish came with extra hot sauce. I reheated the grits the following day and they were actually good! That was the highlight of this take out meal for me. I thought the gravy in one of the dishes was sausage gravy, because doesn't everyone in the south add sausage to their gravy? But, it was just plain gravy. Boo! The eggs were pretty dead looking the next day (not their fault, I know), so I didn't try any of them. The bacon was undercooked for my preference but could have been easily remedied by popping in the air fryer. That was more effort than I wanted to expend on salvaging these dishes. Hubs is a biscuit fan and he was happy to devour whatever I did not, and again, he had no complaints which is excellent! I've been wanting to visit since they first opened and have been anxiously watching their social media for coverage of the beautiful dishes and drinks, looking forward for my chance to try their food. But this first visit did not at all live up to the hype or my expectations. I came on a Thursday about three weeks ago after my annual doctor's visit. It was around 11:15 when I arrived. Note this restaurant is in the bustling Providence area. It's an attractive and somewhat upscale shopping and dining destination and parking can be a bit of a challenge. I found the parking lot of a nearby hotel that had ample spots, so I took one of those and marched over. It did look like there was a parking garage not too far away. Anyway, the restaurant was about 1/3 full when I arrived. The hostess asked if it was just me, which I confirmed. She asked if I was okay to sit at the bar. My preference would honestly have been a table or booth, even a two top, but I told her whatever was easiest for her was okay with me, and so to the bar I went. The bartender took my order and brought my food and mostly left me alone, which was also more my preference. He was nice enough in our interactions and food was served in a timely manner. After I ordered is when things started to go downhill. First, I asked a waitress where the restroom was and set off for a visit. Despite it being earlyish in the morning, one stall was already filthy enough I didn't want to use it, and the other one was out of toilet paper. Fortunately I noticed before using it! I came back to my seat and was served water in a carafe. It wasn't particularly cold but the bigger problem than that was that it smelled like dirty dishwater when I poured it in my cup. Not sure if my glass was still dirty or the water itself was, but suffice to say, it wasn't pleasant. Next, my food arrived. I ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of fries. Others have commented negatively on the pricing here, but my experience was slightly different. I ultimately wound up being charged for just the entree. The description for the burrito does not indicate it comes with a side. I assumed I'd pay for the burrito + side, which was going to be ~$25. THAT is a price tag I'd say is too high, but I was ultimately charged for just the entree, which was ~$16. I still think that's a bit much for the quality and size of the food I was served, but I can see how it would be acceptable under better conditions. That said, I'm not sure if the burrito does come with a side that's included in the price OR if they just forgot to charge me for a side. Anyway...the food. The fries were the best part at exactly average. They looked pretty and were crispy enough. It was a pretty paltry serving even for the price I was charged; it would've been a VERY paltry serving at the $9 (!!!) a side of fries was listed as on their menu at time of visit. Ultimately though, my main grievance is with the burrito. It needed work in about every aspect. It was put together poorly, with almost all bites I took very uneven in terms of filling, and watery sauce dribbling out before I even took my first nibble. I did ask for no avocado, but even with that in mind, I thought the amount the burrito was filled was pretty disappointing - it was tiny and heavy on the tortilla. My first few bites were only of egg and a few bacon bits - no sign of cheese, tater tots, green onions, or chipotle aioli to be found. The eggs badly needed salt or really any flavoring at all. Eventually, several more bites in, I discovered some cheese and some tater tots, but even then, the flavor-meter was pitifully low -- idk how you make a tater tot not salty enough, but these surely weren't. For a while I was convinced that they'd put some sort of very strange glaze on the bacon because it started tasing oddly sweet (à la candied bacon), but I eventually could only come to the conclusion it was the very watery, very pale chipotle aioli I was tasting. I was expecting that to be slightly spicy and definitely thicker/more mayonnaise-y, but given the listed ingredients, that's the only thing it could've been unless something went very wrong in the kitchen and some other sauce was put on my burrito. The one slightly saving grace was the green salsa, which added heat, if not a ton of flavor, to the dish. I am both mad and sad to say that I have had Taco Bell breakfast burritos that beat this one by a country mile. I really like the design and interior of this place and the menu looks promising. The service was fine. People whose opinions on food I respect have lovely things to say about Loona's dishes. I can only assume/hope my first experience was a very odd one-off. I'd be willing to try again some time in the future, but for now, this was not at all what I was hoping for from a visit.

We three shared the Steak Egg Rolls that were actually really good, very creamy and rich, and unique. I did not try the sauce/sauces that came with them. They were served at the correct temperature and a nice, rich appetizer that I would recommend! Sister #1 ordered the "Stoney River Breakfast Skillet" which was attractively plated in a skillet and appeared to be the correct temperature and her eggs were cooked to her liking. She was off put by the cheddar cheese that topped the skillet off - it looked very artificial (meaning bright orange yellow) and as if, instead of cheese, the egg yolks were sort of sitting atop the skillet. She's not a huge complainer and she finished the skillet. Sister #2 ordered the shrimp and grits, described as "...Cajun sauteed shrimp, Worcestershire cream reduction, bacon, cheese grits." The plate looked nice; however she said the shrimp were "beyond rubbery and more of the texture of shoe leather." I kept encouraging her to send it back and order something else and she said she said she was "hungry and it is edible." She did say the grits were excellent. Sister #1 and I tasted the sauce of the shrimp and grits and both of us found it very "tomato flavor forward and oddly sweet." Christine's lunch was a disappointment. Also, she should have sent the dish back, in my opinion, I'm sure Stoney River would have made it right. I got the small filet, I think it was seven ounces, cooked medium rare with asparagus. You get one side with this dish which is fine. The steak, once again, was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly with no need to add any salt/pepper and it was nicely seared! The steak was delicious! We had wine, which was good, too! We did not get dessert and were offered more "biscuits" to go (which seemed odd to me, it was like 2:30 in a very hot afternoon and I wasn't interested in carting biscuits around in a hot car); however, it was a thoughtful gesture. Last comment I have is no fault of Stoney River's, it's a "Clift Farms" thing, at least the Development Fee is Clift Farms specific, I don't know the "wine tax" fee. I really dislike fees. My $200.00+ bill included a three percent "development fee" of $5.58, a "Wine Tax" of $4.18 (I've never seen that before, what is a wine tax?) and regular "Sales Tax" of $6.36. Thank you for the friendly professional service and the extremely clean, comfortable in-person restaurant dining experience!
