Shannon is amazing! I went to Method for the first time a few weeks ago and loved the entire experience. I found out about the salon through Yelp, went to the Web site and booked my appointment online...how awesome is that?! When I got there I met Shannon who actually took the time to listen to my concerns. No other stylist has done that. She gave me a cute cut and style that works either straight or curly. The products the use are amazing. She didn't try to sell me any of the products either, which was nice...but I did end up buying a couple of things and I'm glad I did. This salon is the best hair salon I've ever been to in my life! Natalie Morgan helped me salvage a bad hair cut and grow it out in to long, healthy hair. The service is so awesome,I drive from Killeen, TX (1-1.5 hour drive) every other month so I could let Natalie work her magic. I'm now a strict user of Kevin Murphy products and I enjoy doing my hair! The salon is pleasant and the atmosphere is inviting. Everyone is so professional! I hate that I'm moving, but I know how to take better care of my hair now, so it won't be that bad (I hope!). My hair is fine, curly, and now it's mid length! It's hard trying to find a place that can do my hair because I'm bi racial but I'm very pleased with the service I was provided. It will be hard finding a replacement. read more

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I did not like my haircut whatsoever. I came in on time and was serviced over 30 min later. Then I got bangs, that I clearly did not ask for, which resulted in un-manageability for the past few weeks as I have desperately tried to grow them out. I like a lot of layers, to give my very straight hair some body, but got boring and limp "anime" hair. Plus, I was severely over charged. $75 for a crappy haircut. No, thanks. The actual establishment however is pretty trendy but I'll def be looking elsewhere :( read more

Not like they need more reviews but I must say Sarah is the best hair stylist ever! I have traveled hours to just get a haircut from her. Having tried many hair stylists throughout the years, I have had some that hate my hair, some that think they need to do tricks to make it work and Sarah. Sarah loves my hair! She sees it as an artwork. She doesn't try to make it something it's not, but works with it and allowing it's true beauty to come out! I swear it's like the hair talks to her! She also doesn't just quickly give you a haircut... she cares about the health of your hair. I am one of those people who jumps from salon to salon, looking for the perfect stylist. I have strange hair in the sense that there's a lot of it, but it's EXTREMELY fine, making it difficult to style. I've had countless bad haircuts but the three times I've been to Method have always been the best cuts I've ever received. Most recently I had a bang trim from Sofia. Y'all. You know when something just works, and you breathe a sigh of relief that at least THAT part of your life is good to go? That's me, post-haircut with Michelle. I'm one of those "I don't know what to do with it" people when it comes to my hair. I have a lot of pieces of hair, it's wavy but not curly, and I mostly just wear it air-dried. Michelle started by taking a look at my hair and talking through what I want it to do, how I want to wear it, etc. She suggested taking off a lot of the weight so that it flows better, whether it's air dried or styled. And it. is. perfect. I can wear it straight from the shower, or spend like 5 minutes putting a few curls in with the iron, and I'm out the door. I could not be happier not only with my cut but with all the tips Shannon gave me. She also recommended an anti-frizz product that I bought because she said she is hard to impress and she really likes this one. Amanda Eggiman ROCKS! :) I first came to this lovely, very talented stylist in August, 2011 feeling pretty low with where my previous stylist had left my locks - completely chop-shopped and over-thinned. Amanda didn't make me feel bad about the situation, however ~ which, unfortunately, is something that I've experienced with other stylists in different salons. Nope ~ Amanda did just the opposite. She combed through my hair with her fingers while she listened to the story of how I got my hair to that sad state of affairs. Understanding that my ultimate goal was to grow it out ~ from chin-length to waist-length ~ she did a very minimal dry cut that hot August afternoon and recommended starting the clean-up process from the damages of my previous stylist in 8 weeks. While part of me wanted to just go shorter and start from there, Amanda explained that there was no reason we couldn't start with what I had ~ all that was needed was a little patience. Honestly, if it had been any other stylist I'm not sure I would have had that patience or confidence to stick it through. It's 6 months later and I just saw Amanda a couple of weeks ago for the fourth time ~ and will continue seeing her for many more! Amanda and I will no doubt have a very special relationship when I finally reach my ultimate hair goal! As it is, I already feel incredibly indebted to her for restoring my hair to what I knew it to be ~ thick, layer-balanced and "goddess-like" ~ as she calls it. :) Method is lucky to have Amanda! read more

I had my second haircut at Method this week and can say without the tiniest smidgen of doubt that my hair has never looked or felt this good. My hair routine used to be: wash it, blow dry it maybe but maybe not because I can't work a round brush anyway and it will probably look so terrible I'll just wear it in a bun for a week before I wash it again. No More! Amanda Eggimann gives so much care and attention to the cut, gave me a style that actually works with my face shape and has helped me work out the kinks in my normal hair routine. She walked me through every step of styling my hair and today when I fixed it on my own it actually looks as good as it did after the haircut. Volume! Movement! It's even a little wavy which the Catholic church would most likely consider to be a miracle of the second degree (making Amanda some kind of saint). Of course Method is not just for the inept, but I sure don't know where I'd be without them. Also I can't forget to mention the spine melting hair wash/head and neck massage by Ranae. Wish I could have one every day! This is an experience that is absolutely worth every penny. read more

The appointment did take a long time, but I got a complimentary conditioning treatment. They use Kevin Murphy products, which made my hair smell and feel amazing. I'd been going to the same stylist for years and was satisfied with the cuts because I didn't know my hair's potential, but Jen helped me find the style that made me feel more like me. My alpine forest of hair has been so much easier to deal with since seeing her! The hair washing was soooo relaxing and I felt valued, not like a product on a conveyer belt trying to be assembled as quickly as possible. After 2+ years of getting my hair done by Natalie, I have to say that this salon is more than just a place where I get my hair cut. Before I even made my first appointment with them, they impressed me. I have thick, curly Greek hair, so I have a hard time finding a salon/stylist that handles my hair correctly. I called to set up an appointment with them and explained to them that I have curly, thick hair. Most salons answer with, "Oh, well, all of our stylists can handle any hair type so you should be fine with any of them." I get it. The receptionists can't favorite stylists, or make it seem like some stylists can't handle curly hair. However, I assume every stylist (being humans) has strengths and weaknesses. I just wanted a stylist whose strength was curly hair, so when the receptionist said, "Oh, I have just the girl for you," I was floored/elated. I get to the salon and Natalie has thick, curly hair, almost as curly as mine. What a relief. Every time I come in, Natalie never assumes I'm doing the same color/cut (even though I almost always do). She puts forth a lot of effort to talk to you about exactly what hair style you're trying to achieve. I obviously enjoy coming to a salon where I know for certain I'll come out looking better than when I came in, but the thing I've gained the most from Natalie is the knowledge she's given me about how to properly take care of my hair. I used to straighten my hair more than I would curl it, because it was easier to handle. Now, I can count on one hand the number of times I've straightened my hair in the past two years. Natalie has taught me how to properly wash my hair, what products work best with it, and how to style it. She taught me how to fully embrace my natural hair, and make it look better than any iron ever could. Every stylist I had gone to before Natalie would always assume I'd want a blow out after getting my hair done. Natalie never assumed that and has always styled my hair using my natural curls. Embracing your natural hair and learning how take care of it is something only girls with ethnic hair understand, and I hadn't mastered either of them until I came here. Having Natalie as my stylist is the best thing I've ever done for my hair. If I ever do move out of Austin, I will always keep the knowledge Natalie has taught me, and rock my natural curls with confidence until the day I die. read more

:( When my only-recently-found awesome colorist disappeared with the demise of Avalon salon, I asked friends for recommendations. A friend recommended Todd Fisher, so I went to see him to get my highlights done again. i got an appointment fairly readily and went in to see him. I don't know how else to put it, but we had communication issues. To his credit, Todd asked a lot of questions, but I didn't seem to be able to communicate what it was that I wanted in a way that we understood each other (previously I had walked into colorist appts and said "just keep doing what you see already on my head" and they were able to roll with it) and ended up with a skullcap of Barbie blond hair rather than gentle dark blond highlights. I'm willing to accept that the communication problem could have been me, but regardless, the result wasn't what I had hoped for. I came back a week later and we tried to reconnect to figure out how to resolve it, but we still didn't seem to understand each other and the second result wasn't what I had hoped for either. My hair is a muddy, odd color, nothing like what I asked for, crunchy and pissed off at the moment; I'm hoping that time and some color correction elsewhere will give me back my old tresses. I'm sure he's good with a lot of other people's hair; he certainly makes my friend look like a million bucks, but my experience wasn't the same. P.S. After I posted this review, Todd emailed and called asking me to take down my review, stating that since I'm in a business that counts on referrals and good reviews, I should understand how much a bad review can hurt. I told him that it would be contrary to the spirit of Yelp and would not give an honest assessment to those seeking a realistic idea of what to expect and refused to do it. Based on this, there is no telling how many other negative reviews have been taken down under duress. read more

I love this salon. The environment, the people, and oh, the Kevin Murphy products. (Angel Wash shampoo is my new obsession thanks to this place). My husband has been going to Method for his cuts for some time (and he always looks so dapper) but I finally made the crossover when my "hair girl" and fast friend, Christina Svec started working here. I followed her from Ricky Hodge and I'll never look back. She's been cutting, coloring, and styling my hair for what seems like ages now. I was able to healthily grow out my strands to the perfect length with her guidance and her scissors. I think I've gone blonde, red, pink, then back to blonde with her. I've even tested her talents with updos, bouffants, and runway hair and she never fails me. She's patient, knowledgeable, and a delightful human. This past week was my first time at Method.Hair after my longtime stylist Christina Svec made her new start at this wonderful abode. As usual, Christina did a fantastic job (thus why I have been using her for 3 plus years!) She is the only one that has ever been able to make my very very very thick hair stylish and non blanket-like! (very crucial in Austin's heat!). She is also the only person I've used that truly understands both the art of the haircut AND haircolor. Usually people are strong at one and not the other, but not Christina! Bottom line, she gets it (your hairtype + and you) and it will be well worth the extra dollars to have a pro like her jazz up your doo. The salon itself its really cute, and the other stylists there seemed very laid back and talented as well. Everyone's cut and color was looking great. Also love the Kevin Murphy products they use! I made a hair appointment several weeks before my birthday. Salon confirmed appointment, 5,4,3, and 2 days prior to the appointment. Morning of my birthday they call and say they have to cancel my appointment because a stylist was out sick. No, there was no one else that could do my hair, but I could hope that someone canceled. Then when I asked what I was suppose to do for a blow out, on my birthday for nice dinner reservations they recommended a place that was too far away from the hotel. read more

Got my hair cut short by Christina. She's awesome. Highly recommend. She really wants to hear what your ideas are, but offers great suggestions as well and that's ideal for a stylist (in my opinion). I should start off by saying that I hate my hair. I always have. It never does what I want, and seems to actively spite me when I try to style it. It's because of this, that I have become convinced that Christina is a hair sorceress. Every time she cuts my hair, it looks awesome! She's fantastic about helping me figure out what I'm looking for, and teaches me how to keep it looking good until it's time to come back. On top of that, she's super friendly, and a genuine pleasure to visit. As a matter of fact, the whole place is like that. Everyone is smiling, the music is good, and somebody puts a drink in my hand as soon as I walk in the door. I'd go there just to hang out, if that weren't...you know. Weird. Five stars! I have been growing my hair out for the past few years and I love my length but I was most overdue for a cut and shape. I was nervous (first time ever to walk in nervous, but my hair hadn't been touched in so long). Amanda was AMAZING. She had a drink poured for me and we started chatting. I immediately felt calm and in capable hands. She was intentional with every snip of the scissor and every piece fell perfectly into place. She even educated me along the way, which helped me understand why she was cutting where. I left walking on clouds and popped by a mirror as often as possible the rest of the day just to give my hair a shake. I have never loved my hair as much as I do now! Then, to top it off- Crystal, gave me a head full of caramel bayalage. She was meticulous and I couldn't love them more. I attempted to articulate what I wanted but wasn't extremely specific. Sarah Statham is my hair goddess. Until now, I'd never had hair that people complimented -- simply put, my hair is TOUGH. Beautiful color with natural highlights (if I do say so myself) but thick, dense and unruly as all get out. Cowlicks, waves and flat bits, and a tendency toward an oily patch. The previous salon the Statham women worked at provided styling for the Yelp fashion show in summer 2009, and they were great then, but it took me a few months to track them down at Method. Sarah gave me a fabulous cut at the end of 2009, and I was hooked. I've never had a regular stylist, so this is a new thing for me. But as long as she keeps making me look my best (even when I say, "I've got no idea. I trust you!" -- a dangerous thing in my experience!), I'll keep coming back. Everyone else here is fun and funny. Totally hip neighborhood vibe that makes me feel cooler for having been here. Kevin Murphy products are pretty sweet. Free (excellent) bang trims! Minor quibbles: It can be hard to get in touch with anyone to schedule an appointment, and when you do, it is likely to be a few weeks out.
