Joe was knowledgeable and insightful but did not give me what I asked for. "Curly cut" was uneven and told me that it was only 2 months of growth taken off. It was about 4. Much more than I showed him I was okay with. Proceeded to tell me to get my highlights done after the cut. Very opinionated and vocal about it. I wasn't going to leave a review because I thought steps were being taken to address a terrible color job. However, had I known then what I know now, I would have stayed with the request for my money back and not listened to doing a color correction. The stylist did not do what was asked, keep the same blonde color, needed the roots done. It was a terrible, dull, brownish, gray color!! That supposedly after a few washes would be okay. WTH?!? For the money spent, I wasn't happy with the outcome. Thought about it, and didn't want anyone else to experience the same process. Therefore, I reached out the management team. Management scheduled a consultation to check out what the issue was and agreed the color wasn't what I showed the stylist... it was recommended that color correction be done. I had never heard of that service and questioned the process being that my hair had just went through a coloring process and it would go through another within a couple days; I was concerned of damage to my hair. I was assured everything would be okay and I would love the results... I regret ever trusting the management and wished I had never gone into the salon. My hair has been damaged, daily breakage, and it's costing me hundreds of dollars on conditioning treatments! I don't live in Austin, I was visiting family. read more

The first time I went to Madison was last year. Prior to the cut, she took note of my cowlicks, hair thickness, texture, and health, and worked based on my own personal specifications. She kept my length, but carved out a new shape with layers. To be honest (and at the risk of being grandiose), Madison redefined confidence for me. When I looked in the mirror when she was done, I felt like the cut was purely and unequivocally ME in a way I've never experienced before. Even with little to no styling, I had a textured half-shag that looked put together, and it grew out even more beautifully. I've gone twice since, once for a maintenance cut and once to chop it all off into a textured lob-and every time I am positively blown away by Madison's work. I booked with Haley C. after seeing her work on Instagram and I'm so glad I did! I have never been happier with a haircut, it's been two weeks and I'm still in love! I had a curly haircut from Sara and a color service from Emily. Sara added shape to my hair without sacrificing too much length, as I am trying to grow it out. She even showed me how to style my curls. Emily did a great job on the color. It didn't turn out exactly like we discussed after my visit, so I contacted the salon to ask for a color tweak (which is always a bit awkward to do). Emily was really easygoing and even gracious about tweaking the color, which I really appreciated. The only reason I'm rating 4 instead of 5 stars is that it is a fairly expensive salon. read more

This is the best hair style salon I've ever been to, and I've been to a few. Great customer service, incredible professionals, and a nice "vibe." And that is maybe the most surprising, and nicest surprise about this place. I started coming here after my wife and then kids made it their salon. I don't really put to much thought into my hair, and frankly getting a haircut ranked up there with shaving and cleaning the garage on my list favorite things to do. But that was ok with them....I've always felt comfortable and appreciated. I'm not usually a review-writer but I have to hand it to Sara C. I am over the moon that I have finally found someone I can trust with my curls! Getting my hair cut, for me, feels a lot like going to the doctor... I am typically anxious and excited at the same time in the days leading up to an appointment thanks to years of not being listened to by professionals and/or generally underwhelming experiences. I am also highly protective of my curls and the length I have achieved, so I have a lot to say on the outset. I saw Sara yesterday for a 30 min dry trim and elucidated all my fussy, persnickety (see: anal) requests and concluded by noting I wanted a "barely touched" effect... (you get the picture, ha!). Yesterday was my third time getting my haircut by Jace at this salon (once at the previous location, twice at the current one) and as always, I left feeling great. My first visit was my first time getting my hair professionally cut as an adult and I was very nervous about it but now I look forward to booking an appointment! My favorite thing about Jace's cuts are that even when they've grown out for a few months, they still look great!! It had been about 6 months since my last refresh and I was still getting compliments on the cut. I was running out of hope. I was having terrible reactions to all hair dye. But too young to go gray, I transitioned to henna. After a couple of times, I started reacting to that too!! Now with henna dyed hair (which you don't come back from) and severe allergies, I went to Kris for a consultation with barely a shred of hope expecting confirmation that my hair dyeing days were over. Miraculously, she introduced me to Elumen. It coats the outside of the hair and sticks to it with negative ions. Sounded like shaky science, but it worked!! And I loved not only the color it achieved, but the shiny, healthy texture! And Kris was conservative in the process of dealing with the henna, leaning toward slow transition rather than taking drastic measures to strip the color from my super fine, thin, slow growing hair. And I have been coming back ever since!! And then, there's Taylor. She cuts my hair. She is the perfect person to work with my type of hair. She has been working with me to get my hair healthy and getting it to grow while still looking good along the way. This last visit I went in with the healthiest hair I have had in ages and looking for a transformation. Taylor delivered beyond my expectations! I would first off like to say I like Kris (owner) but even after my initial consultation feeling positive about the process, I left the salon in tears once it was done. I had really healthy dark hair (see picture below), but am tired of doing my roots (which are now basically white) and after watching many videos about "embracing your grey" I decided I was ready to do this. I had met Kris for a consultation (about 4 weeks in advance of appointment), and even though she had only done one other color change to grey, she assured me that she did her homework and even contacted Jack Martin (color stylist in LA who specializes in this transformation) so she felt confident that she was going to get close to the desired results, but still couldnt guarantee until we started the process. I arrived at 9:00am on 10/31 and with a knot in my stomach, we pushed forward. Kris stripped my hair twice (removing as much of the dyed coloring - which turned the grey in my hair orange - which I expected - see photo). After that she used the bleaching process - this is where issues started, as I was informed by follow-up colorists, that she over bleached my hair (which is why its so fried, dried and breaking - the top of my hair has gone from being shoulder length, to only 3 inches in length due to massive breakage). I was informed by others that she should have done this in stages over time (months), not all at once. When Kris tried to add the color to achieve the silver grey tone, the color didnt come out right. She mixed up another color combination, which didnt work either...she sent me over to have it dried and cut by one of her stylist, but it was a shade of army green (and super dull)...she could tell I was getting upset (I couldnt even look in the mirror), as not only was the color horrendous, her stylist kept cutting the length as opposed to just trimming it (which I pointed out to him several times he was cutting too much)...she finally told him to stop and rushed me back over to try and change the color one more time (it was now about 6:00pm). She ended up using some type of dark gray toner, which ended up making my hair an ugly muddy gray (and not just grey, I also had lavender roots, blues, greys and army green all mixed in). It was getting so late and the shop was closed at that point, I told her I would dry my hair while she cleaned up...my hair was like wax, which is due to it basically melting away. I put on a good face, while dying inside. Upon check-out, I was charged $850, and I was so distraught while holding back my tears, I inadvertently hit a tip as opposed to no tip, so I paid over $900 for ruined hair; I made the 60 minute drive home in tears on the phone to my husband. He said that my hair looked like a witches wig from the bargain bin of a Halloween store (which was fitting since I had this done on 10/31). Kris sent me a text to say that she had given it more thought and asked if I could come back for a low-light treatment, I asked if there would be a charge for this, which she said yes - the same cost as she charges for highlights, so I said no thanks. I have been wearing a wig (as I'm too embarrassed to show my hair in the current condition) and spoke with several colorists. All said that were shocked that she not only way over-processed my hair in one sitting, but were all appalled that her being the owner that she charged me as much as she did, knowing how bad my hair looked..."that is not what an owner would do." I finally found someone who has been a colorist for 20 years who felt so bad for me that she tried to at least improve on the multi-colored and fried hair. She took a small strand for a strip test, and in less than 3 minutes the color came out...she said it usually takes at least 20 minutes, so she was super worried she could potentially ruin my hair even more. However, she did three deep conditioning treatments (each time my hair sucked it right up) and finally just washed the stripping treatment in like shampoo (and for only 3 minutes) as the color came right out. Once more she did another deep conditioning treatment before applying a toner to even out the color...it worked. We went with a light reddish brown as opposed to going dark. She cut more off and told me not to dry or style my hair for the next 2 weeks (so I continue to wear a wig to work). I am due to go back to her on 12/10 for another deep conditioning treatment and to possibly add more toner, depending on the color at that time. She told me in order for me to go silver grey, it will be a good 2 year process...which will be my path at this point. What I keep thinking about is the fact Kris told me during my time with her that she was scheduled to do the same thing to an Asian rocker who had very long natural black hair, he wanted that silver grey look. I went in for a balayage consultation. The salon takes their consultation very seriously (which is fair) and so they charge $50 for it which goes towards the service you choose if you move forward with them. I was asked to submit photos and answer a bunch of questions via email which I did. This email wasn't shown to the person I was consulting with until I got there and mentioned it to them. I was set up with a colorist and booked an appointment. For some reason that colorist left the salon and the only option given to me was to work with the owner who's services I couldn't afford. I was told over the phone that my consultation fee would be reimbursed since none of this was my fault. When I called them at a later date, the person who answered not only denied the possibility of such a reimbursement but was also very rude to me. They refused to work with me on this issue, that is, find me another colorist or refund my initial consultation fee. I'm very disappointed with the way they handled this situation. I'm sure the staff does a great job but their customer service is awful. read more
