If had to use one word to describe the work of Erin at Deseo it would be FLAWLESS. I am fairly new to Austin, moving from my hometown of Dallas. I'm extremely picky about my hair and who touches it, so I would make the drive to Dallas to my stylist of 10 years for cut and color. I then decided to bite the bullet and get a haircut in Austin at another salon I was recommended. Having long layers in my hair that had been grown to perfection, in a matter of seconds, they were destroyed. This happened on a Friday. I had worn extensions off and on for about 5 years, solely because they are tons of fun, but now I was crying and in desperate need not only for someone to repair the horrible cut I had received, but to restore the chunks of hair that were missing. I began researching Great Lengths extension stylists most of the weekend, not even wanting to leave my house. Everywhere I turned, Erin Millington Hair popped up. After seeing her incredible work online, I found her on Facebook and messaged her my sob story. She responded within hours, working me into her schedule first thing that Tuesday. She picked the perfect colors for my extensions, had them overnighted and I was having them installed by Wednesday. When I say the word flawless, it doesn't even come close to describing the genius of Erin's work. As I said, I've had GL extensions many times before in Dallas thru another Great Lengths stylist, but from the placement to color to blending to the size of the bonds, no one can beat the true talent of Erin. After the extensions, I trusted her completely. Always being a very light blonde, I told her I wanted some depth and dimension in my hair, which was very scary for me. But the result ---- truly amazing! I never thought I would say it, but "so long Dallas, I'm staying with Erin". I have been wearing these perfect extensions since March, rotating them as Erin suggests, and not one of my friends has noticed that I have extensions. I'm talking about my best friends, people that see me every day --- no one has asked or wondered. All I hear is how wonderfully beautiful my hair is!!!! Getting extensions with Erin is worth every penny! I walk around feeling not only confident about how natural they look, but they just make you feel pretty!! :-) I know my review is longer than most, but my experience was multi-faceted, from a gorgeous rescue from a bad hair cut to perfect extensions and perfect color. When sitting in Erin's chair, you need not worry what colors she's using because the end result will be shear perfection, like the sun kissed your hair. On a personal note, Erin is kind, funny and beautiful, inside and out. She has great style and probably one of the coolest people I know. I'd follow her anywhere!!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Deseo Salon and Fabien and Wendy. I recently moved back to the DFW area after living in Seattle and Anchorage for the past 10 years. I have curly hair and trying to find a hairstylist that can cut curly hair is next to impossible. I had searched for hairstylists in both Seattle and Anchorage and had the best in both cities. But I had no idea what more a hair stylist could do until Fabien. I can definitely say that Fabien is THE BEST hairstylist for curly hair that I have ever had (this includes haircuts in California, NYC and elsewhere!) My hair was definitely getting to be Janis Joplin all over again, but after I had my haircut it has the most amazing shape and my curls are amazing. First of all he stands you up behind the chair and cuts your hair so that he can see the perfect flow and proportion of your hair - definitely why I have the great shape to my hair. So every 7 to 8 weeks I travel down from the DFW area to Austin because I can't imagine ever getting it cut by anyone else (for those who are wondering, no I'm not rich. I'm just like everyone else but this is definitely worth it!). While I went to get my haircut from Fabien he referred me to Wendy for my hair color (grey in the roots). I was thinking of going lighter after having really dark brown hair being in the North and Wendy said don't do it. I am so glad that I didn't because now my hair is a rich dark brown with some dimension of a shade lighter highlights. All I can say is trust whatever she has to say! Both make the perfect team. Great example: after another client had her hair colored by Wendy, Fabien noticed her troubled curls (curls had been frizzed and no definition when she walked in). While this was not his client he took the time to show her how to dry her hair to define her curls. Her hair was absolutely amazing and the curls were so defined and no frizz! She beamed, she was so happy. Both are genuinely the kindest and friendliest people and make your visit relaxed and comfortable. Let me start off by saying that I have very difficult hair to style. It has always been a struggle for me to find someone who could not only manage it, but make it look great. I was resigned to a life of hiding my hair in hats and emotional breakdowns immediately leaving the salon until I found Deseo. I cannot speak highly enough about their services or their wonderful atmosphere in the salon. More specifically, I cannot put into words how much I trust and respect Phillip, but I'll try anyway. From the moment I walked in I felt a strong sense of welcome and as though I was being listened too. (We all have been in salons where we can see the stylist actively choosing to ignore what we want.) We had a quick consultation that put me to ease because I could tell he had understood what I wanted and even made some very sexy suggestions I had never even thought of. Throughout my cut he made a strong effort to bond with me and kept me smiling the entire time. Just watching him work I could see the true skill of someone who loves and is the best at what they do. Combining his smile, passion, and skill has made him easily the best stylist I have been to time after time. When it was time to shed the winter growth, I had one master stylist in mind that warranted the skill set to pull off that critical transition cut, Erin. She has found a great home in Deseo Salon and this place is top notch as well as they recognize quality talent with visions of making the world a lovely place, one style at a time. For the Ladies, she is a Jane of All Trades with the fly styles, extensions and comes with nicest blends of color (guess she picked that up with her crazy dj skills, be sure to check her out "DJ Blend-E"). For the Men, I must say when it comes to switching it up, just let Erin Scissorhands take the helm and there will be no disappointing the client, trust that. My recent cut, I wanted to remove the Kenny Rodgers feathers, beard and stache and come with some Euro Bend it Like Beckham style. Well she nailed it and I'm now heading to H&M to grab some boxer briefs for my next photo shoot. Just had my hair cut for the first time at Deseo and Phillip was my stylist. He did an absolutely amazing job!!!! I haven't been this happy about a haircut in a long time!!! I came in to the salon because I had had my hair cut a few weeks ago by someone i've been going to for awhile, but had just been getting my hair trimmed. This past time I asked her for layers in the front, but it just didn't work out right. So I needed someone to correct and reshape my hair. Phillip not only corrected my hair (he explained what needed to be fixed and explained how he was going to cut my hair to do exactly what I wanted it to do originally) but did an amazing job styling and making sure just to cut what needed to be cut because i didn't want much off the length. Phillip is without a doubt talented and I will definitely be returning again!!! Not to mention, Phillip has a great personality and is very funny! :) read more

Fabien is amazing! I'm embarrassed that I'm just now writing a review, because he was everything I could have hoped for. My son got married in August and Fabien styled my hair. I saw him for a visit before the wedding and he did a style that he thought would look good. It was beautiful, but it wasn't what I had in mind. My next visit was the day of the wedding and I showed him a picture of what I thought I wanted. He was totally onboard and not offended at all that I wanted to change the style. He just went with it and it was absolutely beautiful! He took his time and worked on my hair like it was for a fashion shoot. Frankie was excellent. She helped me decide on a style for a haircut and making sure I was comfortable with everything. She listened well to what I knew I didn't want and was careful to choose something that could be morphed into something else in case I didn't like the outcome. But I did like it. Her shampoo is also very relaxing. The other person who I made the appointment with and cashed me out (it looked like she is also a stylist) was very nice as well. As we live in the northern hemisphere and the large window front faces south, on a sunny summer afternoon the A/C won't make you feel nice and cool under the hair cutting cape--just a tip not to over dress and to take her up on the refreshing offer of a choice of thirst quencher. read more

For a cut, you will NOT find better than Fabien Roussel! He is a true artist. I have never had a better haircut from another stylist. Since I have been going to Fabien, my hair has never looked better, and has never been easier to style. His cuts require minimal styling, they maintain their shape till your next cut, and are chic and effortless. I always feel like I can take on the world when I leave his chair! Fabien Roussel has been cutting my hair for the last two years, my good friend recommended him, and I've been very pleased. I had a terrible experience with another Salon located by 360, near 2222. My hair was a disaster after doing "highlights" (half of my hair color looked like orange and the other half brown, horrible!). Fabien was able to repair my hair by working together on the healing process, and by staying away from coloring it to let it rest from chemicals, and by using the right products. Moving across country I have always heard about how vibrant and modern Austin is. I said yes! This is the place I am meant to live! Naturally I took to Yelp and discovered who had the best ratings and in fact they were the best of ATX! I was super excited to find my new stylist and finish the only missing with my new Austin life! Much to my dismay I encountered someone who "doesn't do fades" "only class haircuts" She then began to give me names of stylist who don't even exist or to be honest I didn't even search! Graysan is a rock star! I've had several cuts by her and I always get so many compliments when I'm rockin' a Graysan cut. She's done everything from meticulously barbered short cuts to vintage 80's hockey player mullets at my request. Always ready to offer solid advice to make sure the cut is as good as possible and quick to make great recommendations for the product I should be using. I've got scalp psoriasis, so I spend a lot of time with an itchy head and white flakes. Last cut we talked potential remedies for the issue and my scalp has been so much better! He cut my dead ends off and gave my dull, flat hair life and bounce! Hair is one of the most important features, it defines a person. I will always trust Fabien and Jason with my hair. Fabien is passionate about what he does, listens to the client, provides suggestions and cuts away. He makes it look so easy. He finishes off his work of magic with a flawless blow dry and style. I've been seeing Wendy Walicek for hair color for close to 10 years. She's the best colorist in Austin. I'm naturally a light haired brunette and Wendy has successfully taken me to blonde, dark brunette and to my ultimate favorite...a redhead! She also cuts hair and is the first to give you a new hairdo, thereby, a new you! Her salon is nestled in downtown Austin and there is free parking for easy access. I've been searching for a great colorist who understands my hair and knows what colors compliment my skin tone etc.. Wendy, the owner of Deseo, is awesome! My color always looks great and she's not afraid to experiment with colors depending on the season and the time of the year. The salon is beautifully decorated and the staff is super friendly.
