When I initially reached out, he asked me to take pictures of my things so he could estimate time and labor. I also created a spreadsheet, and shared a Google folder with images. His quote included everything listed, and was transparent, and the same price I paid at the end. When his crew arrived at my house in Michigan, and our house was in a state of disaster, they got us packed and moved in a matter of hours. Every single one of them was incredibly sweet, courteous, good-humored, and diligent. We packed most of the important/fragile/precious things, and they packed the big items and a bunch of random stuff we might have forgotten otherwise. Everything made it safe and sound, they parked in the area designated by my new apartment builder super, maneuvered the apartment like pros (cause they are!) and the entire move was made really simple and painless for us. Even when I was at my most stressed, Pat and his guys were the absolute best and bringing me down and just getting things done. I'd definitely recommend them. They were honest, hard working, and just a joy to work with, despite some challenging circumstances. Note: If you're moving long distance, they require a deposit in advance (to cover gas, lodging, materials, etc.) and don't accept credit card (or they didn't at the time I wrote this), so be sure to plan and get a bank check to him in advance. I accidentally didn't include everything in the video call. so when the movers showed up i had to pay a little more. I don't count this against the movers because I should have made sure I included everything during the video call. I packed my own boxes and wrapped my own items to help ensure nothing could be broken. Through it all, Josh kept in good communication with me, answering all my inquiries, and working with the dispatchers to ensure proper delivery - which I made difficult with all my travels (I went on a vacation while waiting on my things and I kept having to reschedule my drop-off in Texas.) They were patient with my schedule, and everything was delivered safe and sound. They were cheaper than the U-haul Pod i was about to request, which was quite unexpected considering I moved 1700 miles away.

Disappointing Experience - Be Cautious if You're a Young Couple…read more Many people recommended Best Guy for our move from New York to Israel, so we hired them. The original quote was for under 200 cubic feet. After packing at our apartment, it jumped to 300, and once it reached the warehouse, it increased again to 400 -- double the original estimate. We had even signed a document stating the total wouldn't exceed 20% above the quote, yet it went far beyond that. To his credit, Guy did split the difference with us, which we appreciated, but the process was inconsistent and stressful. When our shipment arrived, around 25 books, my college diploma, and other items were damaged -- clearly from poor packing, not transport. The loss was just under $1,000, yet we were only offered $150 as "goodwill," and later $75 more after we involved a lawyer. Guy was friendly, but overall the experience was disappointing. Other young couples we know had similar issues with inaccurate quotes. If you have a big household move, Best Guy may be fine, but for smaller shipments or young couples, look elsewhere.

We moved this summer from a three-bedroom apartment to a five-story townhouse with no elevator, and they made what could have been an incredibly stressful move with three kids feel completely manageable. They're a wonderfully old-school company with traditional administration (payment is by certified check), and from the start they were professional, thorough and straightforward. An estimator came out in person before quoting us, which I really appreciated, and the price was very reasonable. The packing team came the day before and was careful, organized and courteous throughout. On move day, a thunderstorm hit just as they were unloading. The crew was soaked through while carrying furniture and boxes up 60 steps to the fifth floor, yet there wasn't a single complaint or grumble. They stayed upbeat, focused and on task, and took every precaution to protect both our belongings and our newly finished floors.
