I've been using this storage facility for a while, and while the units themselves are fine, I'm honestly uncomfortable with the front desk experience. The man at the front has made several inappropriate comments during my visits--commenting on how I look "different from my ID," making remarks about my appearance, and even asking about my engagement ring. These comments are unprofessional, unwelcome, and honestly just weird. I'm here to access my storage unit, not to be scrutinized or questioned about personal things. It's disappointing because I expected a neutral and respectful environment. If management sees this, I really hope they address this behavior. Customers deserve to feel safe and respected--not awkward and uncomfortable. read more

THE WORST PLACE EVER!!! While moving my things in a unit I'd previously had reserved I noticed I was running out of room and that I would need another unit. After making a reservation online the I went to the office to pay for the unit. The employee was aware that I'd made the reservation took me to see it we went back to the office to confirm and pay. I stayed in the office for 45 minutes waiting on the employee to complete the transaction while being walked through it over the phone....Every few months it's another rate hike. Screw these guys - I'm getting my stuff out of here, ASAP.... read more

I'm new customer to NJ area, & moved with a 17ft Pensky Truck I drove Myself with Household Items Of A Washer Machine, & Alott Of Boxes From My House, as well as General Junk That I've Had For Years I Just Can't Part With...lol I Already Rent a 15x20 in Mississippi that I didn't yet bring, because I'm still looking for a permanent home, so I have to pay $140.oo a month for that Storage unit, so I didn't want to pay a enormous amount for storage in NJ also... I was happy to find reasonable rate, for NJ, I know they are higher, I found & rented a 11x12 8 ft high for $133.oo a month pluss $13.oo insurance & $8.75 a month tax for a grand total of $155.02 a month... I agree we as customer shouldn't need to be forced to Buy insurance & feel it's a scam for the extra $13.oo a month but their was no way to reject it so I had to accept it... I'm pretty Shure the unit I'm renting has had Previously had Water Damage Because the water stains were on the wall & floor ... But when I called insurance they said they don't cover water damage once it reaches the floor... So I'm not feeling Safe or Happy about That Issue, (that's why I doc a star) However I Am Happy I'm Close To A Camera, & I Love The TV Survalne. I found the Employees to be friendly, & Paitent with me, & so far I am a happy customer. I also like the ability to pay online my storage & even the auto pay feature. This place has the WORST and most HORRENDOUS customer service in the world, in addition to the WORST elevator to move items into the storage unit. PLEASE DO NOT leave your belongings here. Even though at first they seem to present an affordable price, they incessantly increase the price EVERY six months or so. They have an antiquated payment service that can only be paid in person or via check thru bank transfer, and there is NO option of credit card payments online, via email, phone or Paypal etc. This in itself is ridiculous, because often times people leave their belongings and move to a different location and are not able to visit the facility. We are almost in the year 2017 and this place still doesn't use PayPal or an online payment system. The elevator is an old MANUAL elevator that requires physical pulling and pushing of 4 doors, to both get in, get out each time. The doors of the elevator also need to be closed each time physically after getting to your floor, which is another maze to overcome. The worst of it all is that the manager has a terrible attitude and refuses to understand what the customer is saying. After my phone interaction with him on the phone from California (where I moved to), I decided to move my belongings out immediately. On the day of the move, my mom had a terrible experience. After everything was moved out, my mom mistakenly forgot the lock in the unit door. The guy didn't ask for a key either when he went to check, but he refused to come back again to check and said she would have to wait for the next guy; she had to wait in the dark unit for half-hour just waiting for another guy to show up to "check" that everything was out. Btw, my unit didn't even have a light on top of it, and was very dark and gloomy inside. When she couldn't wait any longer because the mover was getting frustrated, they locked her in! She was practically having a panic attack when she called me. I never saw a regular elevator or stairway in the facility for her to leave. As a medical doctor myself, I can see someone actually having a serious panic attack and passing out in this facility because my mom was very frightened by being locked-in. Overall, avoid this facility, and store your belongings in a place that has cleaner and brighter units, much better or even just decent bare minimum customer service, better payments and better pricing (possibly a place with a fixed pricing). I really, really regret trying to save a few bucks by using this place because my peace of mind and sanity is way more important. **To respond to the facility owner: First, thanks for a reply two years later to promote your business by a verbose backhand apology; I posted on 10/2016 and the response was on 1/2018. No, during my time payments couldn't be made online or through the phone, it had to be in-person or via check bank transfer. No, the space wasn't immaculately clean and but rather dark and dingy. No, the elevator couldn't reach my second floor space in less than 10 seconds (this statement is laughable) -- try more like 20-30 minutes especially if at least one other person is using it. read more

One of the cheapest rates we found. Got a discount with an online rate. Came to look at the available space and the service rep was very polite and accommodating, answered all our questions. He even advised not to get the space until we're actually ready with stuff so that we don't waste time. We had a couple of space options. The facility looks pretty clean. Not too much traffic even on a Saturday/Sunday. They are open 7 days a week although different times depending on the day. The contract and forms just took about 5 minutes or so. I've been a customer of this facility for over 12 years now, and throughout all that time I've never had a problem. A year ago I would have given a 5 star rating, but after what I've been through, one star is being charitable. Let's start with customer service. With two exceptions, thier customer service is definitely lacking. The manager is downright rude, and sometimes they can't even be bothered enough to turn the lights on in the area. Now regarding money, they are the least expensive option in the area, and you get what you pay for. There's always a catch though. There are hidden fees, they make you buy their lock when you open a new account with them and god help you if you pay late. Access is another problem. The main building has three places to load or unload, only one with a ramp for easy access by car. There are two elevators, one of which stays on the level its brought to until its brought back down, effectively making one elevator, and that's only if the other tenant closes the doors when they get to their floor, which unfortunately isn't often. The intercoms are frequently in disrepair, also. Bottom line: if you're looking for a cheap place to put your stuff and don't access it frequently, this place is serviceable. If you're going to be accessing your belongings often, look elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed with price increase. After four months of storage, received a 28% increase in monthly fee. Ouch! Will be the spark to get rid of our stuff or find another storage place. By far THE best storage faciltiy I've used thus far! No frills but totally professional, clean, climate controlled and safe!. The customer service is great as well - super nice people!. We live in Manhattan and have always used some of the bigger names to store our things - the prices resemble those of small studio apartments. A friend told me about this place in Garfeild New Jersey and honestly, I didn't expect it to be so nice and so close and convenient to not only Manhattan but to mulitple Uhaul locations. They offer the cheapest rates in the area, hands down. However, there's always a catch. Their customer service is sometimes great and sometimes awful. It often takes me several phone calls/trips to the main office to access my unit. There's always a passcode issue and the lights are never working. Their storage grounds are not very easy to navigate and could certainly afford to be updated. If you are like me and don't access your unit often, this place will serve you well but I couldn't see myself comfortable at this location if I needed to access my belongings on a regular basis. I used to be a customer at Uncle Bob's; I've moved here about 2 years ago and have found the $50 savings per month worth my move but had my situation been any different I probably couldn't say the same. read more

By far the best experience I've had using a storage facility. Safe & Secure Storage blew away all of the other storage facilities i've used in the past. From a woman's point of view, the facility was easy to access and use, was well lit and clean, smelled good, and the staff was friendly and would help you when you needed it. Their pricing was cheap, cheap, cheap and straight forward when moving in... it was hassle free moving out too as they don't require any advanced notice as other storage places do. I had a bad experience talking to a manager, he blamed me for not answering the phone on time and trying to get a late fee from me which is not fair. Every time I tried to talk to him he was unavailable! I left him the message but he called back in 4-5 days and then I had to justify that it's not my fault. I asked them to set up an automated charge from my account and it was a huge problem because they wanted me to come from NY to NJ just to do that in their office, not through email or fax...And everything is up to the manager....and he is never there... I wanted to talk to the owner but they didn't give me a contact info...they told me its confidential...I regret many times that have to keep my things in their storage, Id prefer to pay even a bit more but have no trouble....I will ask the advice of my lawyer but wouldn't recommend this place to anyone... read more
