I have a Troy-Built 4 stroke leaf blower. It has been a great little machine for me. My leaf blower was getting harder to start. I had to use starting fluid to get it going. Once it warmed up it worked great. No issue. I thought I'd take it in and get it serviced. It had been a couple of years. I was thinking it needed an oil change, a new plug and an air filter. I've had it service a couple of years back at Roy's on Country Club in Mesa. Roys was a Troy-Built authorized service. I took it there this time and Roys is gone. It appears he sold out and it is now SRS. SRS doesn't work on these so I asked him for a referral and he recommended Mesa Rental Center. I took it to Mesa Rental Center. Charlie, the owner said they do work on these. He told me they charge a $17.50 diagnostic fee. If they can repair the machine, they'll apply this fee to the service charge. They called me a week or so later and said they couldn't find a problem. It worked fine, but they'd do a service on it. A couple of weeks go by, they call and said the machine was ready. I paid the bill and took it home. I attempted to use it. I ran about 3 minutes, died and wouldn't start. I took back. They said they would look at. They called some days later and said it was just a carburetor adjustment. I picked up took it home and again, it ran a few minutes died and wouldn't start. This happened again, I'd take back, they'd tell me they fixed it and it would die after a few minutes. After taking it back for the fourth time, I finally get a call from Nick, the tech that actually worked on it. He related he couldn't fix it and would refund labor only, which was the majority of the bill. I picked up this morning and spoke to Charlie, the owner, letting him know that I was disappointed. I brought in a working leaf blower the worked like a champ once start and got back a completely non-functioning machine. I feel like I was bent-over and bamboozled. They don't know how to work on these machines when they said they did. My choice now is to find a shop that actually has competent technicians or replace the machine. Bottom-line, I believe they've never worked on these smaller 4 stroke engines and used mine to try to learn on and failed. Avoid this place. I wish I had taken it to Mow Power on Gilbert or some other quality shop. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Plus I normally never ever take the time to write a negative review on a place. I don't believe just because of a not so good experience that the whole place should suffer for who knows how long. But what ever you do please go to somwhere else to rent your equipment from. To start it off I needed to rent a chainsaw, told the guy what I needed and that I was an arborist for 3 years. But no matter what I tried to say, the guy just kept cutting me off and kept explaining how to start the saw along with all the other little things with it. Now I understand it could be protocol in case someone doesn't know how to use a dangerous piece of machine. But he was just so arrogant about telling me how it works, and how tight the chain should be (tried telling me it needed to be at the tightness it was at) which was way too tight and I tried to tell him. Then I asked if the blade was new, he said yes, or it's been sharpened. I asked for a new one just in case and will only charge me if I use it. I should've checked myself because I get to the job and it was so dull I couldn't even cut with it. I HAD to use the new one. So the job took an extra day, we called before hand and they said it was ok as long as we are ok with paying the extension. They just so happened to close before I made it to their store so I returned the next day (Sunday) to return it to find they are closed. So I had to keep it and go out of town just for half a day. I was planning on bringing it back that Monday when Monday morning I get a text message saying THEY ARE CONTACTING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR STEALING THE CHAINSAW!! I couldn't believe it and we spoke to them. Never said we weren't going to pay and was not ignoring them. Now I have to pay $158 or else they will go to the police. I've never been treated like this and please I will pay anyone not to go here it was that bad. read more

I rented a chainsaw from this facility simply to cut one 20 inch dump from my front yard. The chainsaw they gave me worked however the chainsaw blade was a piece of crap and they insisted that it would work. Four hours later the stop is still in my yard I will never ever use this place again read more

Brought my lawn mower in for service in November $89.00 so it would be ready for spring. Started it in the end of February to do a quick clean up of my yard and it just leaked gas all over the place. Call the shop they told me to bring it back. A week later I was told it would be another $89.00 that the carb was dirty. Told them no and picked it up. I ordered a carb rebuild kit on line for $6.00 and fixed it myself. Durning inspection of the carb it was a messed up o-ring that they installed that was the problem. Went to rent a stump grinder. Figured better than a big box store. I called in to reserve. Picked up the grinder and went to the job. The gas tank cap had a bad seal so anytime you would go to start it it would spill gas everywhere. Guy at the shop later said this is normal and nothing wrong. Ha. So anyways got through about 1/16 of the stump when it bogged down and stopped working. Couldn't get it running after that. Called in and they said ok we will note it. Bring it in and we'll get it checked out and get you going with another. I got it back to them just before closing. The guy says I never called because there's no note saying I called. There was clearly a blue note on the paperwork. Tries to say it was user error. It ain't that hard to use a stump grinder. They said I'd have to come back in the morning and deal with it. I came back in the morning. The same guy was trying to blame me and saying it was working fine. Not for me it wasn't. I was like well anyways let me get another to take out or show me that it works and I'll take it again. I'm way to nice. He goes on we sent out all of our grinders already. Wtf!!! I said I needed one the night before and he knew that. Also said complaining wouldn't do me any good saying some people will come in and complain a lot to get a better price but that won't work. Fuming but keep my cool and he gives me 20 off the rental price as a refund. Wtf! Oh and when I called I was like how much is the grinder and the guy said 45 half day 65 full day. I was like that's a lot cheaper than Home Depot rental. He said yup we always have low prices. When I got there they charged me 100. They lied!!! Anyways this place is a total joke and il now be disputing the transaction with my bank to get my money back for a non functioning product. I went to Home Depot and dropped more money but got flawless equipment. Don't be fooled by this place. And don't buy anything from them. I took my chain saw in for a repair and was greeted by a knowledgeable and friendly lady who asked good questions. I left my saw there to be picked up at a later day. They called after a short time and said it just needed an adjustment to the carburetor for a small fee, and worked great. I was afraid I was going to have to buy a new chain saw. My family's been utilizing Mesa Rentals for more than 20 years. They've always displayed good customer service and knowledgeable about the industry. Sure they may be a little slow at times when it comes to repairs but it's because it's peak season or they want to make sure that they get the equipment up and running the right way instead of just putting a Band-Aid on it. read more
