It's funny how the same roads get torn up about every year or two, only to leave shoddy workmanship and ugly patchwork scars. At least, if you're going to inconvenience us for weeks and months at a time, have the work ethic and common courtesy to leave the roadway surface in as good (or, preferably better) shape than before you started digging. Please. Oh, and Scottsdale police? I reserve the right to swerve around shoddy, crappy roadwork that the city either ignores or patched up and left worse, and not have it called "negligent driving." We the people cite YOU the city for negligent, mismanaged chaos which not only inconveniences, but in some cases damages vehicle alignments and front-ends as we dodge and amble through this urban miasma of ineptitude. Here's an idea: How about making road surfaces out of materials that don't break down every couple of years? Oh, I forgot - we're spending our trillions on unnecessary warfare and waste. Remember, Rome fell partly because it couldn't build viable roads.

We came to one business that was in this area, and it was very stressful just driving through the area with all the traffic. There were also lots of people on the streets that were obviously under the influence. It was not my cup of tea and I would not recommend the Melrose District to anyone.

If I'm ever looking for something unique and off the beaten path, I immediately visit the Melrose District. Full of vintage clothing stores, antique stores, boutiques and restaurants, it's a great way to shop and eat the way through a lazy weekend day. When traveling through the Melrose District, I find the best antiques (reasonably priced too!), great vintage clothing if I'm in need of a costume or classic piece, boutiques where I find great gifts for friends and family (shh, that's my secret!) and I can stop and grab a bite either at a neighborhood grocery store or restaurant along the way. I've noticed several stores that I haven't had the chance to visit yet (like the 'wash your own pet' store) so as soon as the weather becomes nice again, I'll be making it a day on Melrose! The Melrose District does a great job of preserving Arizona history. With the gorgeous homes off the main strip, you can easily park your car and take a stroll up and down the streets. But beware, if you blink you might drive through the Melrose District without even realizing you drove through! It's an area that looks misleading to the common eye, but once you really look, you realize that you are surrounded by gems of the city. In addition to the daily services, when the weather's nice, the businesses on Melrose participate in a street festival where visitors can walk up and down the district and browse the shops. I'm counting down the days until the next one! So when you have some down time on your hands, take a drive to 7th and explore the district you've been missing all along!

Sadly, one cannot rely on this system really to get around fully but it is great to the airport and venues downtown, especially Chase Field for a baseball game. It takes you right into Chase. ( 1-2 bucks versus 20 to 60 bucks so a good money saver) As of 1/25 it starts/end at Metro Center and ends in east mesa so you can get to Downtown Phoenix, ASU, and other points in-between. It is cheap and if you are senior even cheaper. Buck a ride for Seniors. I think 2 or 2.50 if not a senior. Airport shuttle is close to a hundred so definitely a great deal. The only down thing on the airport is our system does not have overnight parking for your car like other cities have. You will have to be able to walk or get dropped off at one of the train statins. For me, luckily I live right across the street from one Light rail station so it is nice to get me to Skyharbor. I can walk to and from. If you do not park overnight no worries there are plenty of park and ride places to catch the train. Just a tip be careful your concert or special event does not get out until late around 11pm or so and you miss the midnight last train and you get stranded. Found that out the hard way one time on my birthday. lol I was sad to see the city of Glendale stop the project because at one time it was suppose to go to State Farm Arena but no more. I work PT there and would love to take the train to work. I never understand why the 5th largest city in the USA does not have a better public transportation system. A lot of folks say the train is unsafe. Hogwash. I have never had an issue but homeless people do not bother me at all. I am not a person who is afraid of my own shadow. Sometimes on the train I have seen something new as of fall 2024 people are selling things on it. I believe that might be illegal but no one ever bothers me. That is weird and probably should not be allowed but like I said they do not bother me and i have other battles in life to worry about. Besides I am used to all that in my travels especially on the NY subways. In Mn I saw a buck or is it butt ( lol) naked guy on the train in the middle of Winter. lol and a Pick Pocket in Madrid. The adventures in travel series. I could write a book. I think the last time a woman was selling herbs or oils and perfume. Shrugs shoulders. We all gotta survive. I myself would not buy anything, especially anything edible from a stranger, but some folks were. She did not even ask me though. She just walks through announcing her wares. It did take me by surprise at first but only because that was new to me in PHX. Common in other places. I had never seen that before here locally. I am sure it might be a rare thing since security is usually tight on the train system platform, especially on big event or game days. i do not take the train often but I know people who take it daily and have zero problems with it. It is a good service if you live centralized. I wish it went to more places.

A few weeks later he groped me and whispered in my ear before stepping off the train. When I tried to tell the other security guards, one of them said "Well no one's ever said that about him before..." and the other one said "Man, you can't even flirt without getting in trouble these days." When I made a report on the app, there was never a follow up. I still had to see him several times a week, so he clearly wasn't fired or anything. Very disappointing and unsafe.

Most recently, my eldest daughter and I were passing through Phoenix to get to Scottsdale as that was where we were staying. We came here to play indoor pickleball at Pickleball Kingdom (actually located in Chandler, AZ, neighbor of Phoenix). Phoenix is somewhat metropolitan, but not like New York City. The buildings in downtown are not very tall. Internet service reception is horrible. Phoenix does have an appeal for it's own uniqueness. That's probably why people still visit this city frequently.

The traffic driving through Phoenix is just like being in Los Angeles. I've seen so many crazy things on the roads in Phoenix. You're lucky if you get from point A to point B in one piece (your car and yourself!) the driving is so bad. The snow birds (AKA senior citizens from the northeast states) show up in the fall and don't leave until about April/May. They are everywhere! Go to a grocery store, they are there buying everything off the shelves. Go to a restaurant, there they are taking up all the seating and clogging up the parking lots. Overall, Phoenix is just a large city in the middle of a desert. Nothing special and has the same problems as other large cities in America. They have had road construction through the main highways (right through the city of Phoenix) that has been ongoing since about 2017. Now into 2024 and there is still road construction all over the area. When will it end??? Nobody seems to know. Although I come here often, not a fan.

Honestly, it amazes me how much this town has developed! Some great growth, and others haphazardly planned causing some infrastructure issues. My city has actually taken some of what occurred here in consideration for our very own growth. Periodically, I visit Queen Creek as they have a few businesses that aren't in Apache Junction/East Mesa. Such as, Torchy's Tacos and Portillo's. I've even ventured here for some great Yelp events. Overall, I think it is a great town to visit and if you have a desired business, take the drive!

First impressions of Pinal County:…read more Employees are nice...seems not all Recorder's office employees are well-versed in which forms of ID are accepted by Pinal County. Waiting on hold takes a while...I was 13th in the queue. Herein lies my first experience: I followed the instructions for registering to vote in Arizona when you don't have an Arizona driver's license or ID. I went to the Recorder's office in person so they could photocopy my ENHANCED ID and the employee told me it was sufficient. I was told I would receive my voter registration card in the mail. A week later, instead of a registration card, I received a denial letter stating my ID wasn't an enhanced ID -- even though it is. When I called the recorder's office, I was told they only accept enhanced licenses from five specific states, my previous state not being one of them. This requirement is not stated anywhere on their website or on the denial form. It should clearly say that only enhanced IDs from certain states are accepted AND list those states. I'm busy with a move and don't have time to make another trip to the office to provide different documentation. Pinal County needs to communicate much more clearly.

The building was a little confusing to find because there are so many similar businesses in the area. The woman assisting us explained everything well and we barely waited at all. We were in and out. Anyway, building concierge is a jerk...asked him to tell me when the right office was and he copped attitude. THAT'S YOUR JOB DUDE! Don't like it? QUIT! As for the office staff themselves were extremely nice and more than helpful. Cell reception in the office sucks but whatever...can't really complain since I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.
