I wish I could put a zero I filled my taxes for 2019 and 2020 in March I got letter stating I owed 1000 dollars for 2019 which is fine then I got letter that said they don't know who I am and need to verify me to receive my 4,000 dollar refund for 2020. Funny they only know you when you owe them money. The online portal for verify will not work work. I called over 10 times to schedule an appointment an this office and every time it says we are to busy to take your calls. No one was in their and the Fat Ass Lady was doing nothing getting paid off tax payer money and refused to even look at my paper work. When I said I can't get a hold of someone to schedule an appointment she said "sucks for you" then said leave or I will call the cops, don't waste your time. This IRS Office was staffed by a group of incompetent and rude individuals. The receptionist was hostile and unhelpful. I came into the office to handle a simple issue with an incorrect W2, and it took almost an hour to get things cleared up. If you want a specific goal accomplished be prepared to ask 3 or 4 times. One of the staff members fell asleep and was audibly snoring in the cubicle next to us. I understand dealing with the IRS is never pleasant, but customer service would go a long way in this office. read more

The horrible lady at reception has motivated me to write my first yelp review ever. The good: security at the entrance was super friendly and the two other people behind the desk were friendly and smiling. The bad: The woman sitting at the desk with curly blonde hair could not wait until I had barely opened my mouth to cut me off and in a snippy voice say, "what is it that you want". When she had never heard of the form I was talking about she got an attitude and barked "what is that". To every question I had trying to clarify what I needed advice on she would just cut me off and tell me they couldn't help me. If you truly aren't able to help me I can understand that, but listen to what I am asking and answer my questions. I honestly believe that someone else in her place could have at least helped point me in the right direction with my IRS-related problem. I never ever leave a bad review just don't do it, but after reading these reviews of how government state and Feds act towards people is appalling and needs to be addressed. There attitudes are sickening I've experienced it on every level incompetence runs rampant, it's not everyone but seems so prevalent it's only a matter of time before the toxic atmosphere poisons the whole lot. Might have to do with the low wages when I work here in Az as a Ironworker I feel my attitude changing for the worst and I quickly go to a another state we're I'm compensated for my skills on a much larger scale, this system puts folks against each other. The lady with the bad hair dye job at the front was sooo incredibly rude to me the second she started talking to me. She was so condescending and just shoved a paper in front of me with a number to another office and told me I needed to call them and she couldn't help me. I've been going back and forth between so many people and cannot get the information I'm needing and I'm so sick of everyone in these government jobs just passing the buck so they don't have to deal with it. read more

The main clerk is a short-tempered nasty woman. She should honestly receive counseling for any abuse or damage she's had, because this woman has obviously been hurt. I sincerely hope she grows as a person, because it is hell trying to deal with her. She acts like you're the biggest inconvenience of her life, even when you're the only customer there, and there is no line. So I read reviews prior to going and came in hoping to counter the negative vibes I was hearing this lady that works there seems to have. And does she ever. She wouldn't look up at me, rolled her eyes, and laughed at me condescendingly. All easily ignored but she gave me an assumption answer that was very wrong and I have wasted two hours following her guidance. I only write positive reviews, but this interaction was extremely off-putting. If she is there, I would recommend coming back when Raul is in. She is as incompetent as she inconsiderate. read more

I never understood why the people at this particular location always feel the need to be so nasty to everyone who comes to them for assistance. Each time I have to go into this office to make a payment, I have to hear the same old complaint from the very inappropriate front desk woman about how she's tired of us all dropping our payments off in person and how we should all do it online. I explained to her that not everyone has internet access. To which, she replied that I could also mail it in. Once again, I responded that I don't always have the payment until the day it's due. It's not enough that a person is in a struggling situation with the irs of all people, but to be berated each and every single time you try to make your payments is adding insult. This is the same woman who shouted at me one day when I only went in wanting to ask a question and accused me of trying my to "circulate" the system because I didn't have an appointment to ask my one question. I insisted that I wasn't trying to do anything like that, but she persisted that I was. So first she basically stated to me that she knew my own intentions better than I did and then she makes me have to explain myself to her each time when simply trying to make my payments. The security guard was very nice. The lady at the counter - not so much. I was sent to my local office by the real IRS and she basically had no clue what she was talking about. Not only was she clueless of her job, she was extremely rude and condescending. If you need IRS help, find a different office. read more

Unfortunately I have to agree with the previous negative reviews. Horrible experience, I think I had the same rude lady as was already described in the other negative reviews. Avoid if you can, the issue is that you come here after being directed here in the hope of "assistance" after not being able to resolve things online and/or on the telephone. Instead you get treated like an idiot and waste your time. Frankly it feels like visiting a government office in the former Soviet Union... For your own sake - avoid! read more

Terrible customer service. My husband and I went in to get a copy that we needed and the front desk lady was rude as soon as we walked in. My husband politely asked questions and the lady made him repeat her words as if he was stupid. She ended up not helping us at all and scolding us for not having an appointment.. as we were the only two people in the building. Unlike previous reviewers, I had an excellent experience here. My Canadian mother's 2014 refund had been delayed forever. Phoning the IRS was only a waste of time. After dealing with three different agents in Austin and a supervisor, we were still unable to break the logjam. The grump at the local IRS "advocate's" office was only interested in telling me what I couldn't do, not how I might resolve the problem. She basically told me I would have to drag my 83-year-old mother from northern Canada to an IRS office to make anything happen. Raul Corella, at the Mesa IRS office, was a godsend. Because I was listed on the original tax return as being allowed to participate in the process, he was able to look up the information and finally tell me what the problem was. Our local IRS guy was more knowledgeable and more helpful than anyone I dealt with at the main office in Austin, TX. Thank you, Raul! read more

I came to the IRS at the Mesa location at 2:00pm on Tuesday Aug 27th. The woman in the front helped me so much and was so caring. I met her halfway and she met me halfway. You could tell that she works hard at her job and really does go the extra mile for everyone. I didn't get the chance to tell her how much she's helped me so I decided to write a review about it. Went to the Mesa, AZ office 5/10/2016...wow what a bad idea! The guard was nice, however the female counter greeter was sarcastic in her responses to me, then after being sent to room #2 to another female which was also hostile & sarcastic, Not a helpful office to problem solving issues. I suggest driving a little farther to a more cooperative office to help you. This office lacks people skills. The plus of the visit there was no line at all, we were the only customers at approx. 3:30pm. read more

We went three times to the office to settle a tax bill...never had to wait long...first time nice gal, second time horrible gal, one week later Raul was our representative...nice, nice man. Helped us with all our paperwork and helped us to get the issue resolved. The worst ever experience in a government office I had to encounter. I went on a Friday at 2:30 PM assuming that the crowd will be less. There was a small line outside with 3 people on front of me. I waited for 20 mins and the lady let 3 people in front of me, but said she can't do ITIN today since it too late. Seriously lady, there is about 1.5 - 2 hours more for the day and there are only about 5-6 people waiting and you can't take anymore?? I went again on Tuesday, there was a long line of 25 people in front of me. I waited for 2.5 hours and finally got my chance. I go in there and she says that I have to get the tax document signed from my wife and she can't certify my mom's passport. I asked what does my mom's passport attestation have to do with my wife signing the tax return. I begged her to certify the passport (I had my mom as well available physically all the time) and I will send the document through certified mail. She refused and said come another day. Please find another IRS office if possible. read more
