My grandson and I were in the Fry's parking lot at Baseline and Gilbert when a man aggressively pulled in front of us and nearly caused a collision. I honked my horn to avoid being hit--something any reasonable driver would do. Instead of correcting his behavior, the driver stopped his car, began yelling, got out, flipped us off, and made threatening gestures toward both me and my grandchild. He then sped off recklessly, even hitting a curb as he exited. I immediately contacted the police and provided a license plate number along with a description of the individual. The officer's response was shocking. Rather than addressing the dangerous and threatening behavior, I was told that in the future I should avoid honking my horn because "it can make people angry." That advice shifts responsibility away from the aggressor and onto the victim, which is completely unacceptable. I was also told that there was little they could do because the vehicle was registered to a woman--despite the fact that someone else was clearly driving. No effort to contact the owner, no indication of follow-up, and no reassurance that this dangerous individual would be addressed. This kind of response does not inspire confidence in public safety. When someone is behaving aggressively and threatening others in broad daylight, especially around families, there should be accountability. Instead, it felt like the situation was dismissed entirely. I expected better from a department tasked with protecting the community. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unsupported and concerned that it may take someone getting seriously hurt before action is taken.

Funny enough, I was on 193rd for almost 2 hours waiting and NO OFFICERS showed up. I called the the non emergency line and was greeted by a very rude operator who interrupted me, placed me on hold after asking for a sergeant and then hung up on a citizen seeking assistance. I was interrupted throughout the call. I asked for a supervisor to call me back and receive a call from Sergeant Pierce. Sgt Pierce immediately interrupted me and asked why I requested a supervisor and advised that if I was going to interrupt him, he would end the call. This is the treatment we get for reporting bad service. Upon asking for his leaders info, he refused to provide me an outlet to get in contact with the chief or a superior. This is our QC PD people. We are asked to call non emergency if things occur in our community so that we can keep our communities safe and this is the treatment we get. Call occured on 1/14/26 @ 9:12pm.

They went above & beyond to be nice to me that night & I really wish I'd gotten their names because I would've sent them a thank you later. It has been 8 years since that happened and I am still sober. I think about that night often and the kindness I received especially since I was the one in the wrong & yet they made me feel safe & cared for. The whole dui thing sucked but all in all I had a great experience at the Mesa police department. Try your best not to get arrested but if you must do it in Mesa! & be up front with them. Police officers absolutely love when you tell them the truth Thank you to the Mesa police department for making what would have been only a negative experience into something positive! Sorry this review is so late but hey, better late than never.

They refused her request stating they would take them to evidence. Three weeks later I called evidence to see when things would be released, they denied having his things at all. I called Mesa Police and was told they didn't know where his things were, nothing was brought in from the scene. Weeks later I was told they apologized but they left his stuff at the scene by mistake. In his things were every last things he owned, jewelry, clothes, medications, his Bible, his photos and a black sachel full of psych medications, suboxone, and prescribed substance, that they said they left at the scene. The medical examiners office took photos of all of those things including the medications, but the Mesa Police denied seeing the sachel of meds. I requested the report 3 times after they closed his case to accidental fentanyl poisoning, it was never sent to me. I made a formal complaint to Internal Affairs, they took four weeks and wrote me saying only, "their officers acted accordingly", they closed the investigation. To them my son was a waste of time, he was an addict, another body to collect, more paperwork. Why ? Because it was not one of their children. Shame on all of you that overlooked the last memories we would have had of my son, shame on you for not investigating the cameras at the store that viewd who gave him the drugs and shame on you for the devastating treatment we recieved.
