Coming from California it's always a dreaded process to go to the DMV out there, you just know you'll be there all day and it won't be an easy process. Moving out here has definitely changed my perspective on the "MVD", they have MULTIPLE representatives available with smiles on their faces and positive energy. These people appear to be genuinely happy to help us out. I have been here a few times and each time I always spend less than an hour. Always in and out in a jiffy! Wow. If you have to go to the DMV, arrive at this location (4123 E Valley Auto Dr, Mesa, AZ 85206) at 10:30a on a Thursday. No line - the least crowded and most pain-free experience I've had at a DMV. Staff were a pleasure to work with - very courteous, energetic, and well trained. Keep up the great work! read more

Seriously your all probably thinking that I'm totally off my rocker for giving any MVD location 5 stars but I have to with this location. Maybe it's the fact that coming from Southern California where the DMV line can be insane if you don't have an appointment Mesa's location has a pretty good system for those of us that needs service. We came in around noon time my boyfriend and I both needed to renew our real travel license there was about an hour and a half wait in line but we met some super nice and it couldn't have come at a better time considering my boyfriend was asking me "What time is it " every 5 minutes lol.. If your a people watcher then this is definitely the place to come. The employees are kind and really the lines move quickly. The facility is clean, there's a self service check in desk before you get in line. My only issue is that when they take your picture they stick the camera right up on you which in turn makes your photo look alien like. All in all the two interactions that I've had with this MVD location hands down is the best. Just make sure to go online to the website fill out the right forms make sure that you have your correct documents and oh make sure not to go after 1pm unless you want to wait longer usually due to people getting off work. read more

Oh my gosh! Fastest trip to the MVD ever! I made an appt 3 weeks before, so once I got there, there were iPads to check in to. Easy peasy. Told me my line was B. Simple. I was the 2nd person in that line, which thank goodness because the regular, non appt line was almost to the door. Was called up within 2 mins and the next process only took about 5 mins. Brandon is seriously the nicest person I've ever met at the mvd. His process took about 5 mins and I was in and out in less than 10. It seriously pays to book your appt online and prefill out all the questions. Hopefully I won't have to go back for a while, but if I do, I'm choosing this location. I can't believe I actually took the day off for this . read more

Took my son to this MVD location to get a physical copy of his learner's permit shortly after he passed the online test. I thought we needed to make an appointment, but when I called, I was told that we could just walk in. So that we did. We visited on Halloween and were fully expecting to stand in a long line or wait with a bunch of people, but was pleasantly surprised to see neither! We checked-in and hopped in a short line. We were called up to a counter and assisted within minutes. The staff look my son's photo, confirmed information, then we were sent on our way. The physical learner's ID came in the email shortly after. read more

I went to the Mesa location this afternoon to renew my license. It was pretty busy but thankfully I could check in and sit down as I have just had two recent surgeries and can't stand very long. When my name was called I was fortunate to get a staff member by the name of Chris P. He was so pleasant and efficient. He had me in and out in no time. Five stars for him!! read more

This place is full of assholes. I called and made appt to renew expiring DL for 65 year requirements. I show up after taking a day off work to be told I needed a birth certificate or passport. WTF! It would be nice if the morons operating the phones told me that before I drove 40 miles to the appt. Douche Bags. read more

I was pretty impressed with my experience at this location. I highly recommend making an appointment prior to your visit which I did about a month in advance. You check in at kiosk, select if you have an appointment or are walk in, then are divided into those two line queues. Even amongst the chaos of the Travel ID deadline, with my appointment I was in and out in under 20 minutes. I cannot tell you how packed this place was, the non appointment line probably had 100+ people in it but still seemed like it was moving steadily. This location is fairly organized and efficient. There are a handful of seats for ADA needs but not enough seats in my opinion. Overall good location! read more

I went for the travel ID and they open at around 7:30 am. I walked up around 7:07 and there were about 15-18 people in front of me. We waited till 7:30 and they opened the doors. I did not have an appointment just did a walk in. I walked out of the DMV around 7:45 with everything done. Just come prepared with all your documents Miriam was very sweet and efficient! read more

WOW. Never would I ever think that I would be writing a five star review for my DMV experience. My husband and I came to get new in state licensing and made sure to be here at least 15 minutes before they opened and there was already about 10 people in line when we parked. Mentally prepared for a long waiting experience, we got in line and waiting for the doors to open not on time... WE WERE WRONG!!! The doors open right as the clock struck the hour and EVERY. SINGLE. WINDOW, was open with a waiting person to help the next walk in. We were immediately helped, in and out in less than 30 minutes! Our service was so friendly and made simple conversation. Explained all voting information and was thorough on expectations. What a great experience!!! read more

The way this place is set up now makes more sense. You no longer have to grab a number and sit for 24578853 years waiting for them to call you up.. Everything is set up in sections so there are different lines for the different services you might be there for. Customer service could be so much better as the people in the front where you check in can be hella rude. They are always miserable and attitude-Y. read more

Thank you DMV for wasting my morning after I set aside this time to come in. I scheduled an appointment for a Travel ID, first complaint is how difficult it is to schedule one without going through the hassle of making an account. Lucky for me, I screenshotted the confirmation page of my appointment because I got NO email/text from them whatsoever giving me the details of the time, what docs to bring, etc. This leads into me getting to the counter and them asking if I have my birth certificate, two slips of mail, my umbilical cord, Kindergarten class photo, boarding pass from when I went to Miami, and Taco Bell receipt from last week. No????? I don't???? Because nowhere did you tell me I needed all this garbage? So I wasted my morning and they wouldn't even let me come home and retrieve them and hold my appointment slot. The MVD can be a painful experience, what with all the sitting and waiting and people and forms and yadda yadda yadda. However! Have no fear because this MVD is here. Doors open at 7:30am, but I recommend showing up AT LEAST 20 minutes early (today when I went I showed up at 7:15 there was already a line down the sidewalk and halfway around the building). About 10 or so minutes prior to the building opening, employees came out and asked each person what they were there for, handing out forms to be filled out in order to expedite the process. Once the doors opened, there was a clear path to follow as instructions were given beforehand. I knew what to expect and where to go and it was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had at a government office. Along with the super helpful beforehand stuff, the staff were just so nice (shout out to Anita because she was awesome). Everyone was really friendly and helpful and knowledgeable; I was in and out within 30 minutes. I will certainly be returning to this location if ever I need MVD services again. read more
