However, since the pandemic much has changed and this 2025 a lot more has changed. I was very disappointed with my last visit 2weeks ago. They have a sign posted (registered appointment line up here (left side) and non registered appointments line up here (right side). I drove a senior to the office and there were no lines, she only needed an award form. The representative on the phone said go in and explain what you need. To our surprise and dismay both security officers turned us away and said go online and make an appointment. One of the main issues is many seniors are not technology savvy and need a human being to assist them. Immediately I had to call SSA, wait 15 minutes (thank goodness), to ask the representative to mail her the form needed. I will say it has enough security features / barriers inside that you can't just walk in. The Front office security definitely needs to show a little more respect and kindness and towards people in general entering the office. Yes, I know they run into people who are aggressive, upset and have bad behavior but they should not taken that attitude towards everyone else who arrives for assistance. Sadly the government is starting to make all federal agencies worse. Jesus help us

Got to the front FINALLY. Told the attendant that we wanted to do Global. His last name was Hoffman. He got crabby and told us "the machine isn't working well". Not our problem. He said to back up and look into the camera. I did so. Then to put my right four fingers on the screen and press down, bending at the wrist. The lights did not come on stating it was working. I tried this at least 20x. He kept saying I wasn't doing it correctly. He got mad, slammed his keyboard down and said "I hate this freaking place". Again, not our problem. I think (not sure as it took forever) if he rebooted or what. I tried again, same issue. Then he said "do you have hand lotion?" I wasn't sure if he meant ON my hands and was blaming me - and so I said "No I do not" because I did not! Then he slammed a bottle of hand sanitizer on the desk and said to put that on my right 4 fingers. I must have tried 30x. No go - not reading it By now - since there is only one other guy getting US citizens through the line - there are at least 300 people in line if not more. They are yelling at Mr Crabby Hoffman to hurry up. He's getting madder by the minute. We asked him multiple times if we could go and try another desk (meaning a different scanner). And he would not respond. One time he got up and walked away - asked the other TSA agent if he was having trouble. No response from other guy. And yet - we heard multiple people tell him they wanted Global and they got through the line with paperwork/prints completed and moved along. Finally, Hoffman said "you know if there is an issue with this paperwork, you'll need to come back to Phoenix to fix it". I assume he was trying to get us to give up since we live on the East Coast. Nope. People in line are still yelling at Hoffman. We moved to another desk I asked if I should bring along the hand sanitizer and I said "just in case I need it" and he said to me "WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME?!" in a vicious tone. I looked at him as if to say WTF is your problem and said "I wanted to bring it over here IN CASE WE NEED IT". His response was "oh". We kept looking at each other as if "what can we do?" I mean you're stuck - if we had argued with him who knows what he might have done. Please note - that by now - EVERY person had gone thru the line with the one guy helping all of them. Our baggage was going round and round. Only items on the carousel. FINALLY, my finger prints (and by prints - it's four fingers on right hand, four fingers on left hand, right thumb, left thumb, repeatedly scanned IN THAT ORDER!) scanned okay and now my hubby was up to bat. So, same crap, crabby, ordering us around as if we are stupid, etc. I said to hubby "let me grab the bags" and Hoffman says "MA'AM YOU CANNOT LEAVE THIS AREA". Please note - it was maybe 15' away from the desk and clearly obvious that all I would do would be to grab our bags. NO ONE ELSE was there as all other travelers had moved on long since past. I mean NO ONE! Finally, prints are scanned and Hoffman said something like 'in 2 weeks you will hear something' We grabbed our bags, had to recheck them, then exit, then go thru security again, then hike it to Terminal 4. By the time we got to our gate, it was 13 minutes to board. No time to get anything to eat and flight 4+ hours. We dealt with that P*I*K for over an hour. Please note - the other guy - NEVER offered to help us/nothing. What a terrible experience.

It's especially unnerving when you have no idea why you owe the amount demanded. Ms. Gonzales was kind, patient, and thorough in her detailed explanation of the incorrect amount of overpayment that my CPA and I were basing the estimated quarterly taxes upon. It could have been very confusing but Ms. Gonzalez laid out three years of taxes so that I could easily understand it. I very much appreciated her help and thoroughly trust that my account will now be straightened out with an additional payment. When you get a letter from a Department of Revenue, whether it is federal or state, it is upsetting. You don't understand it or even trust that it's correct. This was not a bad experience and I understand the error was on my end. It is immediately correctable. Thank you, Ms. Gonzalez. DD

The staff was very professional and informative. They were really helpful to me from my initial phone calls on providing me an extension; because, after asking questions that were on the forms that I needed a benefits letter directly from Social Security Administration which would take time to receive. FYI: I had taken over the paperwork for my mother (who doesn't speak/write English very well-Korean born) from my sister and wasn't there at your office initially in acquiring this packet. After finally receiving this letter & other paperwork; I went down to your office personally to make sure I did it correctly without further delays from my misunderstanding of some of the forms. The front reception area was very friendly & professional in helping me in contacting the right department to ask further questions. I would like to further inform you of a great member of your staff you have in Paulina L. Paulina works on one of your helpdesks and has always been patient when dealing with questions. We were told to be there no later than 9:00 am for an oath ceremony that started at 9:30. Well 9:30 came and went and it wasn't until after 1:00 pm that the ceremony started. To add insult to injury, we were charged $14 for parking. Yes they charge parking per hour. This was $14 for our car pus $14 that my brother payed for his car. So not only did we have to wait hours for the ceremony, we were also being charged for parking while we waited. To sum it up: we waited hours, we where charged per hour we waited, and on top of that, we just handed our son over to you Uncle Sam. Nicely played Uncle Sam, nicely played

Very modern, and, the space feels welcoming even if many of the employees are not ("staff is…read morerude"), and, even if one is forced through a metal detector before entering. The different installations on the walls are pretty cool. This is a brand new MEPS so it is still nice looking. But, it is still a MEPS. Do not be confused. This is not fun-and-games. It is not playtime. Spoiler: this will not be pleasant. And the food is horrendously bad. Like "what the fuck, is anyone even trying here?" bad. The shit that Jared pushes for that shitty, stupid chain offers better sandwiches than this crap. But, this is MEPS -- so, quit your whining. I said quit your whining! In government workplaces, there are always those employees that you wonder if they are outright trying to get fired. Now, at your local, unfriendly MEPS, this is magnified x5000 for certain staff members. They will drive you all the way to the edge of patience, tolerance, and acceptance of abuse, and then reel you back in to ensure you still enlist and actually give up some time to Uncle Sam. It is like a game -- and, quite impressive is the way they play it. They are artists painting a vacuously visceral narrative on the canvas which just so happens to be your poor feelings. Now, do not get me wrong, there are still cool, likeable staff here. Unfortunately, they live and operate side-by-side some of the most comically abrasive personalities in the city ... nay, state. Together, the nice MEPS staff members and the big meanie-heads, will get your ass into whatever service branch you are joining. Oh, you are getting in (unless you get medically disqualified), but you may cry before you find your way to the oath room*. And they will not be tears of joy. Just go to the restroom to cry in private, please. They do not validate parking. Haha. - E * Footnote: The dedication of AZ's oath room to Lori Piestewa is particularly touching. She was an outstanding warrior who often is overlooked.
