Glass of wine and the view.

What a great spot. Outside seating on a warm day is outstanding. Oysters and wine! Also had some well prepared rockfish.

We had dinner here both nights as we were staying at an air b and b that was walking distance. Both nights the raw oysters were super fresh and delicious. Our favorite items were the stuffin muffin, raw oysters and scallops. The house salad with shrimp and poke tuna tacos were good but nothing special. The oyster chowder soup special was creamy, delicious and filling! Service was good and ambiance right on the water was wonderful!

Plenty of parking, great staff and dinner with a view of the Rappahannock! Great swordfish and sweet potato hash and crabcakes. Definitely worth a trip!

Red pepper crab soup and oyster chowder

A friend from the area recommended this place to us. We were camping at Belle Isle and as it was cold, rainy and windy we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. We had a great time. There are three dining areas - indoors, closed in porch, and outside. The outside area looked best but again - cold and rainy - so we opened for the porch. I liked the cozy atmosphere of it. The service was great, and the food was a delicious. We started with soup - Roasted Red Pepper and Crab and Oyster Chowder. So many fresh oysters in the chowder! I would have liked a bit more crab meat in the pepper soup but the taste was outstanding. For dinner we had the roasted oyster (angels on horseback style) and the steamed clams. Sooo good! I would have loved some crusty bread to go with the clams because there was so much delicious broth that I felt got wasted. I can't wait to go back when the weather is nice and we can sit outside by the water!

Nice servers and atmosphere, pretty location on the water with a cute outdoor area. Food was good. I thought the portions were good for what a normal meal should be.

This place was a great spot. It's a really cute restaurant with a beautiful outdoor seating area right by the water. The oyster soup was good, raw oysters were delicious. The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Only a reason a star is down is because they couldn't give a side salad instead of chips on the side of the roll- seems like something they should be able to substitute. Also the fire pits were not working and it was a bit chilly.

Ceviche!!! Soooo delicious!

Hubs and I found this delicious pearl while camping about a mile away in Topping VA. Merroir is located on a quiet waterfront which is beautiful by day or night. We know this because we had lunch and then came back later for dinner! We lucked out because we enjoyed our dinner during a warm October evening lit by a full Harvest Moon. The location is laid back, quiet, fun, upscale (but not uptight) and the perfect place to enjoy with friends or just a romantic dinner. Lunch was ceviche and tortilla chips. Some of the best I've tasted and consisted of small shrimp and bay oysters, cilantro, onions and jalapeño. I could eat that everyday. Our amazing server Sierra helped us narrow down our dinner selections because we entirely wanted one of everything on the menu: Carolina shrimp French onion (special) Roasted red pepper soup with crab Burger (lady at table next to me said it's her fav burger) Blackened Fish tacos Caramelized bananas All 100% in flavor!!! There were so many other things we wanted to try on the menu but we ran out of space. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their dining experience. If we are ever back in Topping we will be sure to stop here!

We were visiting the Tides Inn and was looking for a place to eat. I have been to some other restaurants part of the Rappahannock Group so I knew I would not be disappointed! What a cute quaint place, I only wish we arrived before it got dark so we could see the beautiful view. We ordered quite a few things, I'll share our favorites and some dishes you could skip. We started off with the Red Pepper Crab Soup, delicious and perfect for a cold evening. We ordered some Rappahannocks and Old Salts Oysters - fresh / crisp / salty / buttery! We moved on to the Ceviche, not a fan but it's was not bad. The scallops were wonderful, huge! We enjoyed the smoked corn and cilantro twice. Now on to our favorites! I have to mention the Stuffin Muffin was one we overlooked to be honest. We wanted one more thing and was not sure which one last dish we should indulge in. Our server suggested this dish and she was right! The stuffin muffin is literally stuffing mixed with bacon and oysters topped with a yummy creamy sauce. The other thing we loved was the Roasted Oysters with the Chipotle Butter, wow. Great place check it out!

Yeah, THE VIEW.

Tried Merroir again.....because it is so close to home....and, we'll....the view. FANTASTIC!!! ...and yes, the above deserves it's own line, as that is how great the experience was! It was my birthday dinner, and we weren't hugely hungry, so it seemed a perfect fit, and after the rainy day, the sun finally came out and there was little humidity. To begin with the fellow who seated us was quite accommodating as we chose where we wanted to sit (best view possible, of course!). Then, our super sweet waitress couldn't have been more amazing! She was personable, efficient, and absolutely sweet to the core! She was helpful, knowledgeable of the menu, and even helped me understand the amazing sauce that my tuna had (more on that next). The food. THE FOOD! I know! I've had some not-so-great reviews from here in the past, but tonight is proof that THEY LISTEN! We had the most wonderfully seasoned roasted oysters for an appy.....delish! Hubs ordered the oyster po boy for his dinner, and said it was the Best Ever.....as good as his last one there! I had the fish of the day (tuna), that was seared to rare over lightly curried mushrooms, carrots, peppers and onions. LET ME TELL YOU.....that sauce. THAT SAUCE! OMG, it is amazing! The curry was truly an undertone, but it complimented the fish and vegetables perfectly! I DESPISE carrots, but I cleaned my plate. BEST carrots (and mushrooms) EVER!! I kinda figured out the ingredients in that otherworldly sauce, and our super sweet waitress went the extra mile to help us out with the other ingredients! I don't expect to recreate this at home (we live too close), but I will certainly try to get something close when I cook veggies......just spectacular! Thank You, Merroir, for such a memorable birthday dinner!

This was a quick stop for us on the way to the Tides Inn. 2 glasses of wine and a dozen oysters. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day with gorgeous views. We were sat right away but it did take a minute for the waitress to come over. Friendly - but definitely not overly friendly. The oysters came out quick....we got 6 salty and 6 that were sweeter. You could definitely tell the difference. They were delicious. I would love to go back and order some other items. The Red pepper Crab Soup sounds delicious. Poke tacos, shrimp, clams and their is even a burger for the one that doesn't eat seafood. You must get a picture of the Ruby. We did explore and go inside but certainly did not feel welcome so we quickly left and got in the car and we were on our way to the Tides Inn. I was actually looking for a gift shop because I was wondering if the glasses were for sale because I liked them. I still don't know if they sell them.

We got the reservation at 8:45 pm (slightly late for our liking as we like early dinner), as the restaurant hosted a mahjong dinner event in the evening. The host was very friendly and gave us good recommendations as we waited to be seated. Ambiance is very nice. We had been here before when it was a different restaurant. It's beautiful during the daylight as they have nice water views. Food was great. We ordered crab cakes on coconut sauce for the appetizer. It was once of the best I have had. I am definitely going to try crab cakes with coconut ginger sauce again. For entrees, my husband has the beef tenderloin and I had the beef short rib with risotto. So delicious. Short rib was very tender and the risotto was very creamy and flavorful. For the dessert, we had peach crips with vanilla ice cream. Presentation and the taste was amazing. Overall, a great experience. The only reason I gave them a 4 star is because of the pricing.

The staff were friendly and very flexible, the food was tasty, large portions, and reasonably priced (considering it is a resort restaurant). For those concerned about price, I'd say there are more than a few value options and small plates like the cocktail shrimp. We ordered the catch of the day (halibut) and duck which were very high-quality. Buttered rolls were also dank - No notes for the chef! Our favorite things about the restaurant were: 1) The finishes - all the furniture is thoughtfully curated with beautiful wood pieces throughout. The prohibition era lockers when you enter are so cool. 2) The lighting/ambiance was perfect for a date night and the music was chill 3) The wine station in the middle of the dining room was unique and refills were immediate. Staff suggestions were great without pushing us to order more expensive wines Only suggestion is that it was cold AF in there... usually NBD but we were ready to get out of there! Would have probably stayed longer if it wasn't freezing Overall would recommend to stop by especially if you are staying at the resort!

I think everyone here is very well-intentioned and…read moreI don't want to speak negatively about a business the owners are clearly extremely passionate about so please know this is purely describing my experience. Let me start with this: Pane E Vino has the unique distinction of being the first restaurant in thirty-four years to have a waitress who made me cry. I don't think this was her intention, but I wasn't expecting to get shamed (roasted? Aggressively judged?) for my choice of wine. Listen, I have my reasons. I could only have one glass of wine, and I wanted it to be one I liked. But when I ordered a glass of their Pinot grigio, the waitress made a disgusted face and was pretty forceful in suggesting something else. She said the Pinot grigio was not good. Scrunched her face and shook her head. I stammered for a bit and reluctantly agreed to a different wine. When I tried it, it was not what I wanted or liked, and I was embarrassed to have been called out so aggressively and wasted my one glass, so I went to go cry in their restroom (which was very clean, +1.) When I returned, a glass of the Pinot grigio was at my seat because my husband is an angel who can read the room. Our server did not ask how I liked the replacement, but didn't charge for the forced glass, so eh. Okay. I reset my mood in preparation to receive our steak, octopus, and mussels. This seems to be a place where there ARE right and wrong orders. The chef asked how we wanted our steak and we said medium rare. Personally, I like more medium, my husband prefers rare. We compromise like pros. The chef seemed to prefer the "rare" temp so our steak came out nearly raw. My husband said it was the perfect steak, so if this was his review, you may be hearing a different story. But friends, I'll attach a picture. There is no land where that steak was cooked to the temp we asked for. I ate three of the shrimp from the top, which were fine (my husband said "a little chewy.") The octopus was good, but certainly a sharing portion, so not very much. Don't count on it to be a meal, but that's implied. The mussels were well flavored, but quite crunchy. We agreed that they were not rinsed out properly or something-- they had a ton of grit and some significant little pearl-like chunks in them. At this point we were just wanting to leave, so we didn't mention it. In summary, I cried, my husband liked the steak, and we went straight from here to somewhere else to get me some dinner.

I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. Next time, I'll be ordering food with my wine and lingering much longer! Thanks for a great end to my week. See y'all soon! Cheers!

I haven't tried the food here yet, but I'll definitely be coming back for the cinnamon spiced sangria and the mulled wine (must be bought from the bar. Not available on tap.) A must for all wine lovers.

Deb and another girl whose name fully escapes me, made our evening very enjoyable. There's nothing "fancy" at Zoll Vineyards. What you DO get is a wine list with amazingly accurate descriptions. We even found ourselves using the word "complex" while tasting one of the wines. I guess we graduated to a next level?!? There is a light menu offered including a fantastic "bread and cheese board" which I HIGHLY recommend! I had a nice chicken salad and she, a corn beef sandwich with light sides. Now is a great time of year to go sit outside, put on a bit of jazz on YouTube (low enough as to not disturb others) and go enjoy some nice wine and sangria choices at Zoll Vineyards. The menu is definitely very pickle-forward, which I like pickles, but it doesn't have to be on everything. Overall it was beautiful and nice to sit outside. Wine was wine, food was okay, server was great even though the food took a while.
