The food here is amazing. The oyster po boy, while nothing like a po boy from New Orleans, is so delicious, it deserves a category of its own. The oysters were amazing, the slaw and cucumbers were fantastic, the sub roll, it all was so delicious, so juicy, fresh, a masterpiece. A great selection of unique beers. Our server was fun and funny and cheerful. The owner's playlist of 80's music was a fun surprise. The setting is beautiful with lots of outdoor seating. Can't wait to go back!

What a great spot. Outside seating on a warm day is outstanding. Oysters and wine! Also had some well prepared rockfish.

We had dinner here both nights as we were staying at an air b and b that was walking distance. Both nights the raw oysters were super fresh and delicious. Our favorite items were the stuffin muffin, raw oysters and scallops. The house salad with shrimp and poke tuna tacos were good but nothing special. The oyster chowder soup special was creamy, delicious and filling! Service was good and ambiance right on the water was wonderful!

    Ceviche!!! Soooo delicious!

Hubs and I found this delicious pearl while camping about a mile away in Topping VA. Merroir is located on a quiet waterfront which is beautiful by day or night. We know this because we had lunch and then came back later for dinner! We lucked out because we enjoyed our dinner during a warm October evening lit by a full Harvest Moon. The location is laid back, quiet, fun, upscale (but not uptight) and the perfect place to enjoy with friends or just a romantic dinner. Lunch was ceviche and tortilla chips. Some of the best I've tasted and consisted of small shrimp and bay oysters, cilantro, onions and jalapeño. I could eat that everyday. Our amazing server Sierra helped us narrow down our dinner selections because we entirely wanted one of everything on the menu: Carolina shrimp French onion (special) Roasted red pepper soup with crab Burger (lady at table next to me said it's her fav burger) Blackened Fish tacos Caramelized bananas All 100% in flavor!!! There were so many other things we wanted to try on the menu but we ran out of space. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their dining experience. If we are ever back in Topping we will be sure to stop here!

Plenty of parking, great staff and dinner with a view of the Rappahannock! Great swordfish and sweet potato hash and crabcakes. Definitely worth a trip!

A friend from the area recommended this place to us. We were camping at Belle Isle and as it was cold, rainy and windy we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. We had a great time. There are three dining areas - indoors, closed in porch, and outside. The outside area looked best but again - cold and rainy - so we opened for the porch. I liked the cozy atmosphere of it. The service was great, and the food was a delicious. We started with soup - Roasted Red Pepper and Crab and Oyster Chowder. So many fresh oysters in the chowder! I would have liked a bit more crab meat in the pepper soup but the taste was outstanding. For dinner we had the roasted oyster (angels on horseback style) and the steamed clams. Sooo good! I would have loved some crusty bread to go with the clams because there was so much delicious broth that I felt got wasted. I can't wait to go back when the weather is nice and we can sit outside by the water!

This place was a great spot. It's a really cute restaurant with a beautiful outdoor seating area right by the water. The oyster soup was good, raw oysters were delicious. The scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Only a reason a star is down is because they couldn't give a side salad instead of chips on the side of the roll- seems like something they should be able to substitute. Also the fire pits were not working and it was a bit chilly.

Nice servers and atmosphere, pretty location on the water with a cute outdoor area. Food was good. I thought the portions were good for what a normal meal should be.

Expensive and underwhelming. Fighting flies the entire dinner. One of the worst places I've eaten here.

I think everyone here is very well-intentioned and…read moreI don't want to speak negatively about a business the owners are clearly extremely passionate about so please know this is purely describing my experience. Let me start with this: Pane E Vino has the unique distinction of being the first restaurant in thirty-four years to have a waitress who made me cry. I don't think this was her intention, but I wasn't expecting to get shamed (roasted? Aggressively judged?) for my choice of wine. Listen, I have my reasons. I could only have one glass of wine, and I wanted it to be one I liked. But when I ordered a glass of their Pinot grigio, the waitress made a disgusted face and was pretty forceful in suggesting something else. She said the Pinot grigio was not good. Scrunched her face and shook her head. I stammered for a bit and reluctantly agreed to a different wine. When I tried it, it was not what I wanted or liked, and I was embarrassed to have been called out so aggressively and wasted my one glass, so I went to go cry in their restroom (which was very clean, +1.) When I returned, a glass of the Pinot grigio was at my seat because my husband is an angel who can read the room. Our server did not ask how I liked the replacement, but didn't charge for the forced glass, so eh. Okay. I reset my mood in preparation to receive our steak, octopus, and mussels. This seems to be a place where there ARE right and wrong orders. The chef asked how we wanted our steak and we said medium rare. Personally, I like more medium, my husband prefers rare. We compromise like pros. The chef seemed to prefer the "rare" temp so our steak came out nearly raw. My husband said it was the perfect steak, so if this was his review, you may be hearing a different story. But friends, I'll attach a picture. There is no land where that steak was cooked to the temp we asked for. I ate three of the shrimp from the top, which were fine (my husband said "a little chewy.") The octopus was good, but certainly a sharing portion, so not very much. Don't count on it to be a meal, but that's implied. The mussels were well flavored, but quite crunchy. We agreed that they were not rinsed out properly or something-- they had a ton of grit and some significant little pearl-like chunks in them. At this point we were just wanting to leave, so we didn't mention it. In summary, I cried, my husband liked the steak, and we went straight from here to somewhere else to get me some dinner.

This is my second time dining and both times, were lovely…read more This time - we enjoyed the burrata, octopus, pasta and mussels. All were excellent, fresh, nice flavors, not too salty, just perfect. The octopus in particular was probably the best I have ever had - so tender! The owners - are a fantastic duo. This place has added so much value to our lovely town of Cape Charles.

I stopped by on a rainy day around 1PM, so it was super quiet (which I loved). Our waitress was a gem. She let us try a few wine options before we decided what we wanted to order. I ordered a glass of rosé and the Greek board, and both hit the spot. The rosé was crisp and refreshing, which was perfect for a humid day. I paired it with the Greek board, which had all the Mediterranean favorites. A generous amount of pita, olives, hummus, feta and grapes! I'm a sucker for a good Med plate. Whether you're looking to have a girls day, a casual date, find a new spot to work from, or just pop in for a light lunch and glass of wine, Tinto is the spot. I had just come from a hair appointment down the street and on my way back to my car, I noticed Sangria advertised on the mini sandwich board outside. I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few. Next time, I'll be ordering food with my wine and lingering much longer! Thanks for a great end to my week. See y'all soon! Cheers!

That said, service was great, it was obvious they were working as best they could to assure everyone was getting what they needed, and that orders were acceptable. Our food came out fast (we ordered fish and chips) and the servings were huge! Bartender even gave me a sample of their delicious red back sauce, which has a decent amount of heat for a restaurant sauce..... We need to make a point to add this place to our regular rotation of restaurants, they really work hard to deliver great food and great service, even though they are quite short staffed! Thé menu wasn't huge, but they had a section of ' summer grilled' options...pork, chicken, brisket,.....that Im sure would all be delicious! And a smaller menu is a good thing IMO, as they can concentrate on making the food they do offer delicious! If you go here, give the workers a break and understand the situation they're in. If you don't get waited on Immediately, know this has become all too prevalent everywhere these days; and most often, slow service isn't a result of slack workers....definitely not here!
