We were visiting the area for work and someone mentioned this spot, so we swung by on a Friday afternoon/evening once we were done for the day. It's a gorgeous facility right on the winery with a huge porch and tables overlooking the vineyards. The views were really cool. The service was great, the bartender(?) who helped us was super informative and SO FUNNY. They obviously love their jobs behind the counter because they had awesome banter and made us giggle. They don't have food but they do have some small snack options. We ended up grabbing some cheese and crackers and it was a perfect pair. The wines themselves were all fantastic. I'm more of a dry wine person but they definitely had options for sweeter wines as well. They had a large wine list and truly something for everyone. It was such a cute little spot. read more

This is a beautiful winery. They grow their grapes on the property. The grapes are guarded by rescued beagles. They always have something going on, music, dancing, food trucks etc. bring food if you like. sample the wines. Sit on the porch. Meet the guard dogs. Listen to music, dance. They like line dancing. Staying at nearby The Tides Inn, Good Luck Cellar's good Yelp rating attracted us to it. They also have a large outdoor pet-friendly patio and grass for kids to play on. The winery itself is small with a tasting room, a small gift shop, and a room for events. We ordered a tasting of five of the wines and enjoyed them on the outdoor patio. We both enjoyed their wines, but my favorite were the more sweet white wines. read more

I absolutely LOVE this winery and not because of the wine or views but because of James and Chad....but the wine is very good and the views are peaceful. We were the 1st to walk in on a Saturday morning and each got flights. I did all white and my friend had a mixture of white, red and the Rose....called Rip Rap*. :) I really enjoyed my white wines sitting on the porch and listening to the rain. The inside had a fireplace and some seating areas and a private area probably for parties. They have live music on the weekends. A few snacks but I think they have food trucks. Now....James and Chad.....what a hilarious duo!!! They were knowledgeable and friendly but if you want to joke around and have fun these 2 will bring it. More of a 3.5, but I'm giving them 4 stars to give them the benefit of the doubt. I only tried the reds and 1 white, so my tasting experience was rather abbreviated. Good Luck Cellars is set in a rather residential area; in fact the tasting room looks like it's next door to the owner's home. But the room itself was cozy and well appointed, unlike some mom & pop locations that serve in their garage. At 25 acres of vines and around 4000 cases/year, they are a fairly sizable operation, despite all appearances. Their menu (at least when I visited) was white heavy, and the reds trended towards lighter bodied. It must be the climate; everywhere I went on the northern neck, the reds were at best medium bodied, but I digress. Good prices, though. What I tried: Chardonnay: Made in neutral oak; not bad but I'm someone who likes more oaky Chards. Runaway Red (Merlot and Petit Verdot): Soft red, very drinkable but not overly complex. Inheritage (Half Cab Franc, with Petit Verdot and Cab Sav): Definitely favored the Cab Franc, since I got some green pepper. Sweet Shamrock (Chambourcin and Norton): Semi sweet red; just not my thing. read more

Love this winery and highly recommend it if you are in the area. My husband and I pack up the dog and head to Good Luck every time we are in town to stay on our boat. They have an expansive wine menu with lots of variety; we're partial to the Inheritage right not but also really enjoy their Traminette in the summer. The owner is frequently on sight and likes to spoil our dog with treats. She has twelve (!!) rescue dogs who live on the grounds and protect the grapes from critters. They are well trained and stay within their area if you are not partial to dogs; no worries there. Beautiful views of the vineyard as you sit on the lawn and enjoy a bottle. They also have fire pits and heaters out for the winter. Great time all around!! read more

I came here with my SO on a Friday afternoon in July. I wanted to do a wine tasting and they did not disappoint. Due to COVID, they have a "self-guided" wine tasting experience where you choose 7 wines from their list (each sample is $1, so very affordable!). I'm not usually a white wine drinker, but since it was hot, I decided to sample 4 whites and 3 reds. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made some excellent recommendations. My favorite by far was the Seyval Blanc and after the tasting I ordered a glass of that and took 2 bottles home with me. They also had wine ice pops which were a huge hit, highly recommend. Apparently on Friday evenings, they have an event with food truck(s), which is something I hope to experience on my next visit. The vineyard was beautiful - we sat outside admiring the scenery. I was saddened to learn it was recently hit by severe weather. We are coming back to the area in October and I am already hoping for a second visit. read more

In addition they sell them by bottle and by glass for a decent price! We visited for a bachelorette with about 12 girls and this venue is very spacious! I liked this winery a lot! They had a large selection of wine to try and I enjoyed that you could choose between the whites, the reds, or a taste of all of them. There is an awesome fireplace on the porch and heated lamps outside. The grounds are beautiful and you're allowed to walk the grounds and the vineyard. I still can't wrap my head around the fact the NNK - where the pastime for many a local is driving around in a pick-up truck with a case of Busch Light and a few buddies - has become wine country. But I'm not complaining ... now I've got something to do instead of sit on the couch and watch my dad watch the Hallmark channel when I go back home. Good Luck is the second vineyard I've visited in the Wicomico/Kilmarnock area. It's not quite as close to Grandma's as Athena Vineyards, but close enough that the wife and I decided to have a little more fun after our visit to Athena and check out Good Luck before circling back to visit Grandma. Good Luck Cellars is a very impressive vineyard, winery, and tasting room. The tasting room is very open and inviting, with a fireplace and lots of comfy seating. They also sell other artisan products - be sure to try a sample of the flavor-infused olive oils, they are delicious! (The wife and I got a bottle of garlic-infused to take home). The owners are super-friendly and will give you just the right amount of information you want/need depending on your knowledge/interest in wine. We did the tasting, and then stuck around for a glass each. My wife was a big fan of the Four Blonds, while I had a glass of the Sweet Red Shamrock. The owner suggested that we check out the small upstairs tasting room ... it's in a small loft area and offers a gorgeous view of the vineyard and surrounding area. The wife added Four Blonds to her Christmas list and my mom echoed all of our compliments when she stopped by to pick it up - she loved the atmosphere, layout, and said wonderful things about the owners. They run a class operation here ... definitely worth checking out if you happen to be visiting the Lancaster/Northumberland side of the NNK. read more

This is a relatively new winery in the area, opening in 2011, I believe. The tasting room is a lot better than others in the area - lots of light with a large stone fireplace, large tasting counter, high vaulted ceilings, separate men/women bathrooms, a large great room and a cupola with great views. I would recommend doing the white wine tasting vs. the red wine, but don't 100% discount all the reds. The planted grapes are not as old as other vineyards and the owners have some improvement to make. The owners are very personable and easy to talk to. They, like many others, acted upon their dream to open a winery. This is a great place to visit and should be on your list of wineries for the Northern Neck region. They have already won awards from the VA Governor's Cup. Tastings are $4 I believe. Their whites are: Viognier, Vidal Blanc, Vignoles, Four Blonds, Chardonel, Rip Rap Rose. Reds are: Radiant Red Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Inheritage. Definitely make sure to try their Petit Verdot and Inheritage. A great place to sit on their porch sipping wine or go up in the cupola. They also were having an oyster crawl when we were there. Their great room would be great for weddings/receptions. They also sell olive oils and aged vinegars. read more

Went there yesterday and had a wonderful time. The owners were incredibly friendly and the new tasting room was beautiful. We enjoyed the wines and ended up bringing home multiple bottles. Over the past couple months, we have visited about 20 Virginia wineries and my wife and I both out this near the top of the list. Clearly the best we have tried on the Northern Neck. Too bad we live 3 hours away or I could see becoming a regular here. WOW!!! I spent a lovely afternoon at this beautiful winery during the 5th anniversary weekend. The owners, Katie and Paul welcomed me along with Paul's sister, Marianne. I had a tour of the facility .... all the way up to the cupola and down to the wine making area and the barrels. The fields of grapes are astounding. Sherri (with her bright smiling face) did my wine tasting and I had a difficult time deciding which bottles to buy. This trip I decided on the Chardonnel and Inheritage. There was live music and many people had brought picnic dinners and were seated at tables on the wrap around porch. There is also a huge room that is used for parties weddings and programs. Also, don't miss the flavor infused olive oils. If you like a welcoming atmosphere, beautiful setting and a great product, this is the destination for you. read more
