My review is likely skewed by my excellent (and accidental) timing of having visited during an oyster festival weekend. Even so, I may have given them 5 stars anyway. This place isn't fancy, but I'm extremely impressed they did so well despite this being a very small, out of the way place. Extra impressed for the variety of grapes at their disposal and the affordable prices. They are only 5.5 acres, but their 2500 cases/year are nearly all estate (I think they get some help with the Sav Blanc). They grudgingly have a single sweet-ish wine, but mostly they go for dry wines. But most impressive is WHAT they grow. Malbec, Albarino, Zinfandel...I donno what got into their heads to try these, but I'm sure glad they did. I guess with their odd climatic conditions, these grapes just work here. A shout out goes to the wine maker, who's a very young dude who (literally) started out as their lawn mower man. I think he should write an autobiography...except he has so many chapters to go, maybe he could hold off for now. Still, with a start like that, I'd buy it. What I tried: 2013 Sav Blanc: Little citrucy; not a bad start 2013 Vidal Blanc: First off, advertisement: I've almost always hatted this grape. But for some reason, I LOVED theirs. Don't ask me why; miracles must really happen. Some oak but not a lot. 2014 Albarino: Spanish grape that you don't see that often; I liked what I had. 2013 Malbec: OK, this is a VIRGINIA Malbec, so it's not going to get the boldness you might otherwise expect. And even compared to other VA Malbecs, theirs was on the soft side, with a fruity nose and a hint of spice. I was also impressed with their $18 bottle price. Nice job! 2013 Petit Verdot: Spicy nose, black pepper notes. Not bold like other PVs I've tried in Virginia. I bought a bottle for...further study... 2013 Norton: Soft by Norton standards; I didn't ask if it was blended with anything but wouldn't surprise me. One of the better Nortons out there. 2013 Zinfandel: They had two varieties of this, a semi sweet and a dry. I didn't love either, but still impressed they managed to grow it here.

Beautiful scenery, Extremely well done dinner options, comfortable setting, Enjoyable Wines

Jacey Vineyards was our most highly anticipated winery on our vineyard excursion and it certainly did not disappoint. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, the service is top tier. Everyone is so welcoming and accommodating, ensuring you have everything you need to enjoy yourself without hovering at your table. The small details went a long way for us- the farm to table fresh figs from a tree on site, the local home production of wine, down to the label (one of which was gifted to 3 us by our thoughtful server April) all made with a family feel. The food selection is exactly what you're hoping for and the flights are brought in real glasses, one at a time so your pallet and your table are never crowded. We will be talking about Jacey Vineyards for years to come!

Great spot In Wicomico Church to go taste their wines and grab a bite to eat. The pizza tasted great and we loved the wines that we had by the glass (didn't do a tasting). They have a beautiful patio to utilize when the weather is nice and I believe it's dog friendly. Whether you live in and around the area or are visiting the Northern Neck, I would definitely recommend checking out this unique vineyard! It's a perfect place to stop on Saturdays if you're traveling from Kilmarnock to the Reedville area, or anywhere in between!

The band was playing inside and we decided to sit outside for several reasons. First being the lively view from the porch of the vineyard. Second being the lively weather while sitting on the porch. Third being the general ambiance of being on the porch with the weather and the view. Even with a light sprinkling of rain, it was lovely to hear the pitter patter above while sipping wine. I did a tasting flight that they normally don't offer on Friday nights but since they were busy they offered it. The bartenders were really great. Genuinely kind, funny, and informative. You could tell that they enjoy their jobs. The wine was enjoyable and always fun to do a flight to get a good variety.

It's a gorgeous facility right on the winery with a huge porch and tables overlooking the vineyards. The views were really cool. The service was great, the bartender(?) who helped us was super informative and SO FUNNY. They obviously love their jobs behind the counter because they had awesome banter and made us giggle. They don't have food but they do have some small snack options. We ended up grabbing some cheese and crackers and it was a perfect pair. The wines themselves were all fantastic. I'm more of a dry wine person but they definitely had options for sweeter wines as well. They had a large wine list and truly something for everyone. It was such a cute little spot.

We were warmly greeted and taking care of. We even had a little bit of history explained along with the process. We got an entire flight to try it all. It was nice! I cannot tell you if it was good though, because I don't really drink wine or well alcohol for that matter. But, the ambience and experience made it all great we had some nice giggles as we tasted. Overall it was a nice experience You can stay up to date on all things Chatham via their social media outlets and website. The little retail area is nice. A few items from local artists. I would add dark chocolate to the Biles and Shareable menu as it would pair really nicely with the red wines offered by the winery.

This place has everything going for it - the age-worthy Michael Shaps wine, the historical…read morebuildings, and the server with the New Jersey accent. Definitely the highlight of my wine tour of the VA neck. The Hague is a smaller vineyard - only 5 acres under vine, but everything they make is estate grown. That's so rare, it's an accomplishment in itself. And the property is somewhat historical - it also includes a 1800s era refurbished house turned B & B. Michael Shaps is the winemaker, and all of their wine is sent to his place for production. But that's not to say the Hague's owners aren't active participants; my server told me a bit about the family, enough that I should give them their due in making this excellent product. My $6 tasting included 7 wines; two different vintages of Chardonnels, a Rose, several reds, and a sweet Muscat. The Chardonnels were very crisp, and the 2011 Cynthia Muscat was fairly floral, and actually not too sweet. In retrospect I should have gotten a bottle of the Muscat - my server told me it goes well with pastry or blue cheese, both of which I'm a sucker for. While all that was good, where they really make their money are the reds. Wonderful, smooth reds....I really enjoyed the 2013 Petit Verdot, which was medium-to-full bodied. The 2013 Cab Franc was pretty good too. But the best was the 2010 Meritage Reserve. Very smooth, wonderful color. And it was only $29! This is another one I'll look back and regret not grabbing; curses upon myself for having a wine rack that's already full to bursting. I'd likewise kick myself if I didn't mention my service. Everything was poured thru an aerator into a small cup, then re-poured into my glass. Maybe that was done for convenience, but I suspect it also opens up the wine. And my server was also the cook from the restaurant I just had lunch at! We hit it off pretty well; since she's from NJ, she is one of the few locals here who sounds normal to me. But hey - New York doesn't have great reds, so it looks like I'll be here for a while.

You enter through the gate and head inside to get your wine. The couple running this winery were very nice and helped me pick our four wines to try. I don't like oaky whites or tanniny reds, but was able to find four whites to try: 2024 Sunrise on the James, which was semi-sweet and tart from the blood orange; 2024 Island Time, semi-sweet with a tart pineapple flavor; 2021 Vidal Blanc, which I thought had a funny smell and taste; 2023 River Breeze, which was citrusy but also kind of watery. I sat outside and listened to a talented guitar on the covered patio. The service was top notch, and the owners were really friendly, but I personally didn't like any of the wines I tried.
