It was a short little walk and along the way there were plenty of other places to grab drinks if you're looking for a pub crawl type vibe. However, if you want to just stay here a few hours, I don't think you will be disappointed. I don't drink much; I never cared for the taste of alcohol. When I drink I seek for things that don't really taste like it at all. They let me sample the pineapple upside down cake cider and it was sweet enough to give me an option to enjoy! We met a handsome guy named Benjamin, who said it was his first day on the clock, so we assured him we would give him a hassle to commemorate the occasion. He was super helpful in suggesting a dry cider for her to enjoy! The other employee I spoke to was also super nice. I'm thinking about moving to the area and I asked him about rental prices in the area. He was kind enough to offer some insight! It's a massive location with tons of seating indoors and out. They had a fun, large Jenga game you could play but you could easily bring your own board games in. Oh and they also had dole whip?! Unsure if it was dairy-free friendly as I didn't have any but I thought that was a fun unique quirk of the place. I definitely suggest checking it out! Perfect for a casual but cute date night with a romantic interest or to spend time with friends!

When I was an active member of the Scott's Addition Board Game Society, I came twice a month. Buskey has stayed a local gem in my heart for all the years I've lived in Richmond. They offer a huge variety of ciders that can fit different palettes. Their classic flavors are on the sweeter side, but they offer dry ciders too. I adore the space they have. It's huge and great for different things. Whether you're hoping for some time inside or outside, they have plenty of seating to accommodate both. You're able to try different ciders before purchasing them since most of them are on tap. If you're not in the mood to stay in their space, they offer most of the ciders to go. Buskey Cider has a variety of fun community events to attend. They have a wonderful space for it. They welcome dogs here. Parking can be a little tricky since it's Scott's Addition, but it's never that bad. They have a women and men's restroom here. I'm classic and like their RVA Cider. In the summer, when it's floating season, I try to get their Watermelon Rosemary if it's available. I also really like their soft serve cider. They cycle out flavors and create new ones. You can always expect to find RVA Cider and Buskey Dry though. I highly recommend visiting Buskey for an RVA local cidery.

First time at Cider Lab…read more It was a warm Saturday afternoon. As I entered - I noted it was rather warm inside. To warm. I made a comment about it to the lady who was taking my order. She acknowledged it was warm - but that was about it. It was nicer outside temp wise - but at this time of the year - the pollen levels are now in the high range - I did not want to sit outside and inhale more pollen. And it's to warm inside. I ordered a tasting flight of 5 ciders. They ciders are served in cool looking test tubes - from a "Lab," - hence the name of the place. My cider flight included (with associated Untappd rankings): Green Apple (4 stars) Blueberry Peach Jerk'm (4 stars) Elderberry Cider (4 stars) Passionate Perry (2.75 stars) Blackberry Jerk'm (1.75 stars) I really enjoyed the first three in the list - the Passionate Perry just did not resonate with my taste buds - and the Blackberry Jerk'm was bordering on a cough syrup taste. I did not drink all of my tasting flight - as it was to warm inside for me - so I really could not enjoy them the way I wanted to. Service was good. Paid with Apple Pay. Hope to come back some day when the AC is working! #CiderLab

I really enjoyed it and would definitely try another one. They also have a shelf of board games, books, and playing cards if you're interested. Pet friendly. The staff was super friendly, and the overall vibe was laid-back and inviting. It's definitely a place meant for chilling with friends rather than catching a game. They do have a TV (maybe more than one, I didn't really notice), but the placement and size make it clear that this isn't a sports bar, and that's totally fine. It's more of a hangout venue with its own cool personality. Parking can be a pain, so plan for that ahead of time. That's probably the biggest frustration. As for the ciders, they weren't really for me, but that's just personal taste. I still had a great time, and I plan to return to try more ciders in hopes of finding one I like. It's definitely worth a visit for the atmosphere and the experience.

Celiac- Gluten-free Review…read more I was hype to try Oak & Apple because they have wings, howeverrrr they do not have a dedicated fryer- the wings are smoked and then typically deep fried. I was told that they could grill them for me. I was set to order 10 wings, but was wary of how the texture would be if they were grilled so scaled down to 5. The texture of the skin on the outside was rubbery as I anticipated, but, if this makes sense, I could tell that if they had been fried they would have been A1. The overall flavor and the texture beyond the skin was so good. Wouldn't order them again, but if you can have the wings fried, I say that's a solid choice. Thanks for accommodating me anyhow, I do appreciate the effort. I also got a side of the tea braised collards, which surprised me. Have never had collards prepared that way and I did enjoy the flavor. They were also very clean, and if you've ever had collards that haven't been washed properly, you know how off-putting it is to catch stray pieces of dirt in your teeth. What really fell flat for me were the BBQ nachos. Queso, pulled pork, burnt end beans...couldn't tell where one flavor started and the next one ended. Overall very bland, which was disappointing because it just felt so uninspired. Was expecting more smoke, especially from the burnt end baked beans. And if I'm not getting excited about flavor from your pulled pork or burnt end beans, I'm going to assume that it's going to be the same for the brisket, chicken, and ribs. What stands out for me here- if you're into cider, they've got really good choices on tap, and rotate about ten different types. That's unheard of just about anywhere. I also experienced nothing short of top-tier service, and the people who work the bar are friendly and personable. It's really easy to chat with other patrons seated at the bar as well, I felt like a regular and could have sat there for hours. Even the regulars coming in to grab to-go orders struck up conversations while they were waiting. It feels like a third place with its chill atmosphere and easy vibes. Even with the food not being my favorite, I could easily see myself sliding into a spot at the bar regularly just to hang out and have a few drinks. Also do appreciate the inclusion of gluten-free/gluten-free options, even if I'm not a huge fan. So this is a solid 3.5 stars for me- rounded down since Yelp won't let us do half stars.

I ordered wings that were way overcooked, and the meat was dry. My wife got a pizza that looked good but had no structure and completely fell apart when you picked it up. It seemed like only one person was running both the front and back of the house, which probably explains some of the issues. They were friendly and doing their best, but it was clearly too much for one person to handle. We'd definitely come back for the cider and the atmosphere, but probably not for a full meal next time.

We decided to check out this cidery for some weekend fun and were pleased with our experience here…read more When we entered the front door, we were warmly welcomed and we explained it was our first time visiting. The cider-tender went over the menu with us and told us more about the small-batch options. We both decided to order a flight and brought the drinks out to the back garden area. The outdoor seating included a few tables and a small bar that looked like it would be able to be staffed for special events. This area needed a bit of TLC (especially since there were a couple piles of animal poop), but it was otherwise pleasant. We really liked our cider flights. It was very helpful that each individual board was labeled with the names of the ciders so we could remember our favorites. I tried the Hatch, Cherry, and Rocket. We asked if it was okay to order food from one of the surrounding businesses and were told it was totally fine to bring outside food into the garden area. After grabbing some meals, we returned for another round. We both found the Cherry to be our favorite and each wanted a full glass to enjoy after the flight. Alas, when we went back inside, the name was being erased from the board because they had just sold their last glass of this small-batch cider. I had another glass of the Hatch instead. I had a good experience here and really liked the ciders. Next time I know not to wait on one of small-batch items if I really love it!
