I used COUNTRY COTTAGE florist yesterday and I am so pleased that I did. I ordered a bouquet and gave the trained florist carte blanche with the arrangement, only requesting certain colors. She did a spectacular arrangement. I find that when you allow people to do what they are trained to do, the outcome is better than micro managing. I will use this florist again. Lemme start this review! I was driving through White Stone, Va heading back to Norfolk and I noticed this interesting building and sign for Country Cottage in their parking lot. I whipped a u-turn and decided to check this place out. When you walk into this small establishment, you'll it split on the left side with floral arrangements that they sell, original Country Cottage products in the center, and a sweet tooth mecca on the right. I headed to the right when I walked in and met a sweet, patient young lady that greeted me. There is also another employee on the left side of the store through a serving window for the floral section. Country Cottage allows you to sample whatever you want no matter the volume!! I was blown away by that alone! I sampled 3 different ice cream flavors and 4 different fudge flavors!! I wanted to do more but another family came in during my last sample and I didn't want to be an inconsiderate twerp. I want to stress how patient the staff are while you're sampling. The young lady was not rushing me at all while I was thoroughly enjoying the samples. I chose a pint of the butter pecan flavored ice cream and it was delicioso! In the fudge department, I chose carrot cake, peanut butter chocolate, and apple pie. All of them were very sweet and tasted great. There is also outdoor seating with more plants that are outside should you choose to purchase some. Country Cottage makes several types of preserves in house and hot sauces. They make make more products, but I was too focused on the ice creams and fudge. If I'm in this area again, I'll definitely stop buy this wonderful business. read more

Great ice cream and super cute shop!! They have interesting flavors, lots of chocolate and fudge!

We went there for Ice Cream, which was Hershey's and wonderful. However, I bought chocolate, by the pound and a covered egg, and it was not very good. The Chocolate covered Pretzels were stale and the chocolate covered PB egg wasn't good at all and they were priced at $23.99 a pound. I would gladly go back for Ice Cream but never return for Chocolate. read more

**3.5 stars*** Our travels around the great state of Virginia had our family stop at the Country Cottage (CC) for a quick ice cream break. For any parent reading this, you know that on a hot day a nice cold ice cream works wonders for calming down travel weary children. This was the case for the boss lady and myself as we were heading to our final lunch destination (Merrior) off of the Rappahannock river. Spying a large cardboard ice cream, we pulled into the CC parking lot and headed inside for some ice cream goodness. The inside of the CC looked like an old general store stocked with a variety of items that made it look like a mini version of a Cracker Barrel restaurant gift shop. The boys spied the ice cream and soon were jumping up and down asking, "Can we have ice cream pleeeeeeeeeeeeease Daddy?!??!" We picked up four ice cream cones and sat outside enjoying the warm humid Virginia summer air. The ice cream was a bit pricier than I was used to paying for Hershey ice cream, but the happy look on my monkeys' faces and enthusiastic "umm umm good" remarks made it all worth it. read more

My wife and I had an appetite for smoothies yesterday (Sunday, June 10th) and stopped at the Country Cottage on our way home from some furniture shopping. We love the store and staff and, generally speaking, we enjoy shopping there. We buy bread, ice cream, and (sometimes) flowers and fudge. I suggest to members of the public that they do not buy the smoothies at the Country Cottage under any circumstances. Neither of our "smoothies" had any fresh fruit in them; they only contained a shot of syrup that gets added to some ice cubes and chopped into a kind of snow cone, for which the cashier charged us $10.51. Mine lacked the mango I wanted, and hers lacked the banana and blueberries, she thought she was getting. What a rip off! The ingredients could not have cost more than a dime or so, and calling these things "smoothies" misleads the public, to say the least. The owner of the business should either provide a quality product or stick to ice cream and fudge, where the value is indisputable. read more

I stopped in after a disappointing meal at a near by seafood restaurant. I'm glad I did. The owner and her daughter were so welcoming and gave us a ton of free samples (which included a sampling of their homemade chocolate Bon Bon covered in sea salt which was amazing!) I love their sugar fruit slices and the endless flavors of scrumptious fudge. The place is beautiful. Gorgeous flowers for sale in season. There are great cards for all occasions, old fashioned candy, gourmet breads.. a couple of seats inside and more seating outside . The hours are good- extended. Cash, check, or credit card. On our way to a friend's wedding, I spotted this cute little Flower Shop! As I am a floral designer, for years I have collected pictures and business cards of Flower Shops from all over. This is the first time though I have ever seen a floral/ ice cream/ fudge shop! This place was awesome! There are tables under the shade to relax and shop for plants, flowers , gifts, fudge, ice cream you name it! But the best part of the whole experience was the customer service! Their two employees explained to us how the whole idea came to be, were so polite and professional and just a breath of fresh air in this era where customer service is all but gone.
