After staying at nearby The Tides Inn, we thought we couldn't find good coffee in the area until we were recommended The Local. Stopping in on a Sunday morning, we wish we had found it sooner! They have locally made food and a full coffee menu. My chai latte was delicious and my wife said her decaf americano was the best she's ever had, including any spot in NYC. If you love coffee, stop in! They brew Richmond's Ironclad Coffee.

I was staying at the Tides Inn and came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. A quick bike ride but we saw lots of people walking to the Local from the Inn. It is a cute little breakfast shop in a very small and quaint part of town. I am so happy we got there right around 9 am because it sure got busy!!!! Plenty of seating outside and some cute little tables inside. Close quarters so there is not a lot of privacy. In fact the people next to us found out her friend was finally pregnant after many years of trying. She was so happy and I was happy for them. That's how close you are. We ordered to breakfast sandwiches and sat down. I loved the metal glasses for water....the water is self serve. The breakfast sandwich was on an everything bagel with bacon and egg and cheese. It was very good. I wanted to take more pics but the place was jamming when we left and it was awkward. I would definitely go back. It had such a small town vibe and was quaint....exactly what you would expect.

The local is the most charming little cafe. It reminds me of a place you'd see in a TV show where everyone knows your name. They have cozy little nooks and lots of outdoor seating. It's a perfect place to have a nice lunch and taking in the sweet little beauty of your surroundings. My family and I ordered a few sandwiches. Turkey and cheese for the kids and Roast beef for the adults. My sandwich was pressed with melted cheese- it was delicious!! I also opted to try an iced Dirty Chai which was fantastic. The staff was friendly and really went out of their way to make something delicious for my two picky little eaters. Overall I'm obsessed with "The Local" and cannot wait to come back to try another sand which and take in the vibes.

This was the small town feel I was wanting. Staff were very friendly. I ordered their smoked salmon bagel and it was delicious. Loved the outdoor seating area and they were dog friendly which is a plus in my book!

Walked to the Local for breakfast while staying at the Tides Inn. My husband got the Açaí Smoothly and I got the Eggwhite stack. Both were good. The place is cute with local coffee shop vibes and has ample outdoor seating.

Wow! What a great find. They have wonderful sandwiches and plates. Everything is fresh. Staff is amazing! So friendly. Busy little place you shouldn't miss. Make sure you take home a bag of coffee too. They will grind it for you if requested.

Fresh food and delicious coffee. Friendly staff. A must visit in Irvington. Chicken salad is my favorite.

Be prepared to wait. Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and waited 45+ minutes. Skip it unless you want to spend your whole morning here.

Fish Hawk Oyster Bar - Outdoor Dining

Fish Hawk Oyster Bar

While staying at the Tides Inn this week, we ate lunch at the Fish Hawk Oyster bar on two different…read moreoccasions. One was inside. The service was slow and the food was fine. We ordered a half dozen raw oysters and a beet salad to share. We were unaware (partially due to not educating ourselves) that the oysters are "river" oysters and not in a salty brine(like an ocean oyster). I would think since the Inn prides itself on the oysters, the wait staff would inform. It would not have changed my mind- I would order anyhow but would be nice to know. The flies are a little out of control inside in my opinion but again would not stop me from eating there but should be handled. The second day we ordered food at the pool. Again service was slow. We ordered the oysters again with a side of French fries and fruit. My husband ordered a beer which was not brought out for quite some time(after I had to remind two ppl - after our food was brought out) . The Tides Inn is a great place to stay and to have the convenience of two restaurants onsite is nice.

As we arrived, getting ready to dock, we had an employee approach us asking if we were stopping by Fish Hawk. We responded yes and then she asked if we were ok with the $20 2 hour parking fee. What?!?! Yes, The Tides Inn is now charging non guests $20 to dock their boat for 2 hours while you stop in to spend money at their establishment. We left and will not be returning.

My husband and…read moreI came in and they seemed a little busy on a Friday night, but the bar was totally empty so it was perfect. We had great conversation and service all evening with the bartender. This spot is definitely more of a pub type place. Food is American bar food with a coastal flair. I got the potato skins and my husband got some fried fish. They were both good but nothing to call home about. The bartender also came up with some pretty good drink options, I was surprised because I expected a standard bar with well drinks but she definitely experimented and had some great menu options to choose from. We walked down to the water for the sunset and enjoyed their little beach, it was a perfect nightcap. Great little spot in the area!

This is a sizable restaurant able to accommodate large parties with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was very attentive and staff very friendly. There is a big selection of food from seafood to burgers, pasta, pizza, bbq, salads, steaks, soups, and always specials of some sort- if your not sure what you want or your party can't decide (and even if you can) then this is your place because there is something here for everyone We have tried a bit of everything across the menu and didn't have a dish we didn't like. In fact I was surprised at how good they were given the variety. Add to that, that this is scratch cooking it makes it a bit more special. I particularly like that the restaurant makes note and practices using less salt to support its patrons health. I didn't find anything bland and certainly not anything over salted either. The restaurant offers a big beer list with many craft and micro brews along with full bar and wines. We tried the lemon cello cake for dessert and thought it was spot on- well balanced and not too sweet. Live music at times- check the web for who and when. A fun place to eat at and the food very much compliments to the fun. Definitely worth your try for a laid back restaurant experience with options for everyone. As a cafe, Willabys is a solid choice at 4+ stars in my opinion. Happy eating!
