Chef Greg demonstrated how to prepare two types of paella: chicken and seafood. They also had a good selection of salads, crudite, cheese, and meats, as well as almond cookies and brownies. Everything was very good. We enjoyed Gauthier wine with our food. For whites, they sold Chardonnay and Viognier. For reds they had Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. Gauthier has some nice wines. It was a fun afternoon, and they will be hosting more events like this in the future.

We were located upstairs which has a balcony that over looks the back of the property. My friends have raved about their wines and even sangria. There has been people there singing and a band once. So it was nice to have some entertainment. I enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. We even sat down below the exterior where it was quieter. The staff have always been accommodating, knowledgeable on their product and kind. The grounds has always been well put together and clean. There is defintly attention to detail throughout the property.

I don't like oaky whites or tanniny reds, but was able to find four whites to try: 2024 Sunrise on the James, which was semi-sweet and tart from the blood orange; 2024 Island Time, semi-sweet with a tart pineapple flavor; 2021 Vidal Blanc, which I thought had a funny smell and taste; 2023 River Breeze, which was citrusy but also kind of watery. I sat outside and listened to a talented guitar on the covered patio. The service was top notch, and the owners were really friendly, but I personally didn't like any of the wines I tried.

The grapes are a bit younger (oldest vines about five years) so the flavors are sharp and punchy. There drinkable now but also will age well. They have quite a variety on the tasting menu - from port style, whites and reds. We had a great tasting experience with one of the owners and felt comfortable sitting and drinking wine after our wine tasting. No snacks yet, but they are planning on getting.

Third being the general ambiance of being on the porch with the weather and the view. Even with a light sprinkling of rain, it was lovely to hear the pitter patter above while sipping wine. I did a tasting flight that they normally don't offer on Friday nights but since they were busy they offered it. The bartenders were really great. Genuinely kind, funny, and informative. You could tell that they enjoy their jobs. The wine was enjoyable and always fun to do a flight to get a good variety.

I'm more of a dry wine person but they definitely had options for sweeter wines as well. They had a large wine list and truly something for everyone. It was such a cute little spot.

The venue and atmosphere are lovely, the red wine flight is OK, but only 2 out of the 4 wines are worth recommending (Tannat and #1 Red Blend). The Zachariah needs aging. The menu has a nice variety, that should please most anyone, but the food was disappointing overall. The lobster tempura from the sharable menu (4 skewers with1/2 of a 3 oz. lobster tail on each [$39] is completely unseasoned and pretty much flavorless, so the lobster must be farm raised. The smash burger is served only well done because as the server said "That's the way we do it here". Other restaurants manage medium to medium-well, but this kitchen doesn't. The sharable menu boasts 1/2 lb of seasoned chilled jumbo shrimp. The shrimp were far from jumbo, more like the 45 count per lb size (large but not extra large, and certainly not jumbo), and lacked any seasoning except cocktail sauce on the side with so much horseradish it burns the sinuses. The service was good until it came time to pay the bill. I bought a bottle of the Zachariah red wine to give as a gift to someone with that name, and the waitress added it to the food bill and then added a 20% tip that also included the cost of the wine. Additionally, they collected the 6.3% served food tax to the cost of the bottle of wine, which is illegal. When I brought this to the server's attention, she refused to correct this, saying "This is how we do it here". Lastly, I paid cash and the server tried to pocket the $10 change and when I asked her for it she condescendingly asked, "You really want your change?" I said that I made no mention that she should keep it, and had already tipped her 20%. She was obviously annoyed and when she returned thrust the $10 at me, and without a word turned and walked away.
