I think she got about 3 Oz of soup, which was flavorless until salt and pepper were added in significant quantity. My wife liked the po-boy. I had a special - the swordfish - for $28 the portion was miniscule and left me quite hungry. I think there was about 8 cubic inches of fish, over a red pepper broth, and served with fried cauliflower. It also required a large dose of salt and pepper to induce some flavor.

Server was very friendly but after bringing water initially, took over 10 minutes to take any orders at all. Also took a while to come to our table each time. Scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly! However, there was soooo much salt on them that it was overpowering and made the dish not good. The corn with it was great though. The red pepper crab soup was the worst on the table, they have a lot of work to do on this soup. Ceviche was flavorless and in whole pieces of shrimp, wish they were chopped up. Can't go wrong with oysters! The lemon coconut custard was not a custard, it was runny coconut yogurt with coconut flakes and fruit on top. If you want a yogurt parfait, order this! Chocolate cake was okay, nothing crazy. Would not come back to eat

I've bought more pasta dishes from Cavanna Pasta than I can count on my fingers and toes. There are…read moreabout a dozen different types of pasta and 1/2 a dozen sauces, lots of great vegetarian and meaty options! I love how they are at different farmers markets as I can go after work at the Penn Quarter market or catch them over the weekend near me around Falls Church, Mosaic District, and Reston. Come early because they sell out quick! I highly recommend the prepackaged Eggplant Parm, Pesto and Artichoke Cannelloni, and Marinara Spinach and Cheese Cannelloni, Spinach Tagliatelle, Cheese Pansiotti. The only dishes I don't recommend are the Gnocchi (difficult to cook), Thin Tagliatelle (thicker is better and easier to cook), and Pesto Sauce (too thick). My favorite dishes are the prepackaged baked Eggplant Parm, Pesto and Artichoke Cannelloni, and Marinara Spinach and Cheese Cannelloni. I love tossing them into the oven and within 30 minutes, viola! A delicious pipping hot Italian dish bursting with flavor. I really like how they are fail safe - you don't have to worry about overcooking pasta or buying sauce, cheese,or additional ingredients. Everything is included and those dishes are the best bang for your buck! When I'm not feeling lazy, I love cooking the fresh homemade pasta particularly the Spinach Tagliatelle and Cheese Pansiotti. The pasta is really soft and tender, it cooks al dente in a couple of minutes. It's really easy to over cook the pasta as I've done this a few times particularly for the thinner pastas. The Spinach Tagliatelle is unique pasta and thicker than fettuccine. As the spinach tagliatelli is hard to find and a top seller, I'm lucky if I get a chance to buy it before its sells out (keeping fingers crossed!) Of all the fresh pastas, the Tagliatelle has the largest serving and goes well with pesto. I really like the Cheese Pansiotti, a large ravioli stuffed with cheese and subtle garlic flavor that melts in your mouth and goes with ragu or marinara sauce. I wasn't a big of a fan of the thin tagliatelli, which is like spaghetti/bucatini, or the mini ravioli. I prefer the larger pastas. If you haven't cooked Gnocchi before, I don't recommend purchasing it. You need to cook it in under 30 seconds, I waited an extra 30 seconds and it turned into mush! To add insult to injury, I blended in the pesto sauce, which turned into mashed potato! I ended up throwing out the meal, $35 literally down the drain. Although the Pesto sauce is tasty, it comes frozen and very thick and difficult to blend in with the pasta. I recommend using it as a spread for sandwiches rather than for the pasta. I used the pesto for the thin tagliatelle, it was really hard to blend in and made the pasta congeal and clump together. The pesto sauce isn't worth $18. If you are going to eat the pasta within a week, I recommend just refrigerating them as they keep well. I don't recommend freezing the pasta as it tends to stick together. The pasta also keeps well after you cook or bake it. The pasta were good after a week. I gone to several farmers markets just to get Cavanna Pasta, they are that tasty and delicious! Their homemade pasta take me back to Italy.

We arrived around 6 PM on a Wednesday, and the place was pretty full. It's a small but nicely decorated spot. Just a heads-up: there aren't any large tables, so they push smaller ones together for bigger groups. The seating along the walls is built-in wooden benches. It works, but it's not the most comfortable. We were a party of three. There were a couple of 2-person tables open, but since one party had just gotten their check, we waited for them to leave instead of making the staff rearrange tables. Once they left, the table was cleaned quickly, and we were seated right away. The staff was very friendly. The menu is small, just two pages for dinner and one for breakfast. They bring a carafe of ice water to the table, which was fine since that's all I wanted. I didn't ask about other drinks, but the only ones listed were coffee options on the breakfast side. They also brought out a bread basket with olive oil and herbs. The oil was a bit bland. A place near my home does a similar thing, but with much more flavor. I assume it comes down to the herbs they use. For dinner, I had the cheese wheel pasta with shrimp, my mom had it with chicken, and my brother went with plain spaghetti and marinara. We all enjoyed our meals with no complaints about the food. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd go back, but I might try the takeout location next time

We didn't really want that much so we agreed to split a plate. A $24 chicken parmesan. Just letting you know if you want to share there is an additional $6 charge, but when they ring it up it's $6.18. Not that it matters but get your sign right. So that was $30 for one plate. Food came out, there was water all over the side of my spaghetti. Like it looked like someone had scooped the paste out of the pit with a big spoon and let the water come on the plate as well. I asked for napkins so I could dry it up on my plate. The chicken was burnt and there was a thin slice of cheese on top. And I mean it looked like a thin pale version of a Kraft single. The sauce had absolutely no form of seasoning in it. It was pure strait from the jar sauce. The garlic knots were good. And my BIL demanded that I say that the portion of his risotto was nowhere next to even with the price. Now the pissed me off part. We get our checks and mine is $40. HUH!?! That was a $24 plate. Well, they added their own tip to each check. An additional $6.18. So they added their own $12 additional cost to my plate! It didn't taste like anything and I ended up paying $40 for a partial portion, wet, tastes like nothing dinner and water. They got a couple out of my family For a fact I will NOT be back. It was so dark in there we had to pull out our phones and use the flashlights to read the menus. The reason for 2 stars is two of the people at our table enjoyed, one being the birthday boy. So to keep everything cool I didn't ask for the manager to come over.
