WHAT A POUND OF STEAM SHRIMP LOOKS LIKE
    Lord Big Of Tasty S.

The galley has lost its luster . Great place to hang out with the local professional drinkers of Deltaville . The galley does not even serve a pound of shrimp anymore .... prices are high and quality is down . I attached a picture of a pound of shrimp from the Howard Dooley Cafe in Mathews in case you forgot what a 1lb.of Srimp looks like . Major fail on every level at the Galley .

Generous portions and reasonably priced. One of the few places open in January. Good local seafood, really good specials.

Amazing food, great staff. The pulled pork platter galley style is amazing. Also sweet asian ginger wings are the best.

Situated right under the York River bridge, not far from the Yorktown museum, is the cutest village. I'm sorry, they can't claim it as part of the original Yorktown but it is cute. There is a lovely river walk...hence the name of the restaurant. They have some of the BEST views in the area being right there. We had reservations however it being the busiest day for restaurants, we had to chill our heels for a few moments before being taken back. I was more than ok with this as we ended up getting a window seat (see above for reference). Thank heavens they put the name of the server in the receipt cuz y'all know my Swiss cheese brain. Cara was the wonderful server who took care of us. She was always there ready for me to get my mum good & spoiled. Super friendly and very helpful. The buffet, it was impressive for a buffet and while not a big buffet, it was specialized. First up were 3 different kinds of salads, then a fruit platter, and bagels & cream cheese. They had a raw bar with shrimp & oysters next, then breakfast stuff (eggs, potatoes bacon etc) mac & cheese, garlic mashed taters & then a carving station with turkey, ham & lamb. Finally a small but respectful dessert table. If you couldn't find something to fill you, you weren't looking. The single sour note of the buffet was the salmon and Mac & cheese. I'll know better next time. Overall the River Walk has come back with perfect timing and style. I highly recommend a visit. Parking is a pain but patience will help

She brought us a collection of their house made sauces for us to try without prompting, and we loved all of them! The server took our order, then took 33 minutes to bring our first round of drinks. Once they came she was pretty good on refills but after we'd waited for food for an hour she appeared to say that our food had been dropped in the back and so they had to redo it. this was after an hour ten minutes waiting. Another person came out to apologize and ask if there was anything they could do to help make the experience better. I had my four year old son with me who by this point was quite hungry. I asked for bread or anything fast. he said sure but nothing came. When the food did come it was bad. The cheese wasn't event melted and the burger was clearly undercooked. This restaurant has the advantage of geography; hatchery really the only other option. In any other competitive market they'd be out of business in a week. Steer clear and go to deltaville raw bar. Way better value and service.

Deliciousness - 2.5/5 Happiness - 4/5…read more I went here for a group dinner. It's a cute place with a very friendly staff. But ultimately, I was a bit disappointed. We started with flatbreads. I don't know if the cheese mixes were off but one was too tart and the other had far too much goat cheese (enough that it blunted the taste of the mushrooms). Although I don't eat shrimp, I did put some of the accompanying pow pow sauce on my flatbread and that was excellent - a nice, flavorful and bold spice. I wish I'd kept more of it for my main meal. We started with a standard salad, which was promising. The ranch dressing was extremely flavorful, and the croutons withstood the dressing and were delightfully crunchy. For dinner, I got a chicken marsala type dish. Although it came drenched in sauce (which, sadly, melted the mashed potatoes before I could eat them), there was very little flavor. The skin on the chicken was also a bit gummy and unpleasant. And it also came with some broccoli that was both lightly cooked (closer to raw than not) and lightly seasoned. Others in our group had salmon, or steak, but not a plate was finished. At the end the we got ginormous (seriously) slices of carrot cake. That was the highlight for sure, with thick frosting, a good caramel drizzle, and super-moist cake. They said it comes from an old recipe, and it delivered. The servers were very nice and welcoming. But they disappeared for most of the meal. Although we had several bottles of wine, they never came around to re-fill (nor were the waters topped off).

When my wife called to make a reservation, she made it a point of telling the woman she spoke with (Chef Meseret) that it would be our anniversary, and that wasn't even acknowledged at any point during our meal, even though they recognized another customer's birthday. The meal itself was fine, but not exceptional, from oyster appetizer to crab cake entrée to cheesecake dessert. Everything was more or less good until the meal was finished. The waiter asked us if we wanted "to review your charges", which we thought was odd, since we figured we'd just get the check. Instead of that, the guy came over with an iPad and showed us the charges. In addition to the fixed price meal ($80 per person) we ordered two cocktails ($28 total) and a bottle of wine ($52), and then they had the nerve to charge us another $16 for an alcohol service fee. WHAT?!?! You can bet that they made plenty of markup on both the wine and the cocktails, but to charge us to serve it too...WTF?! I questioned the guy about the charge, and his answer was "I don't know, I just do what I'm told". As if that wasn't bad enough, he then put us on the spot and asked if we wanted to add a tip, and how much? What an annoying end to an otherwise fairly pleasant meal. All told, the tab was over three hundred bucks. Totally not worth it. While we were eating, we discussed the possibility of staying at Hope & Glory for a future visit to the area, but after getting nickled and dimed for a service fee, they're not getting any more money from us.
