Lightly toasted bun with fat lump crab cakes & big tasty shrimp on top, with lettuce & tomato. One of the best cuke salads I've ever had. Also the crab & shrimp chowder was heavenly! I'm usually nervous about places that have less than 4 stars but my grandmother wanted to come here and said it was good, so we went. I'm so glad we did. It wasn't fast, but everything we ate was worth the wait. My husband said he had one of the best fried flounder sandwiches he's ever had. I had the ribeye sandwich special and it made me sad but only because of the idea that it won't be there next time. Our server was taking care of everyone alone, but she balanced it all really well, somehow remembered everything, and did an incredible job. I'd go back in a heartbeat. read more

The first time we ate there2 years ago, the place was packed and we had to wait to be seated. The food was well worth the wait. outstanding!! We went back last summer, no line, on a Saturday night, only 2 tables had customers. We should have known then. When our food came, I could not eat it. I don't know what to write that will convince a non-believer. Just go. Menu is super duper. Staff is not only friendly, but has that bounce in their step that tells you they believe in this spot. Get a salad, or a dang duck prosciutto sandwich for cryin out loud. You won't be upset. I'd "guarantee" it, but what good would that do? read more

We were really looking forward to our visit, but unfortunately, the service experience was disappointing. Our server, Alicia, barely checked on our table throughout the meal. Some parties who arrived after us received attention and food before we did. We waited nearly an hour for our food, and at no point did Alicia come by to update us or offer refills. We ended up having to go to the bar ourselves just to get water. Good food can't make up for poor service, and sadly, this visit left a lot to be desired. I have had food from the Galley twice now, both at a company function. BBQ chicken, bbq pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. in a word delicious. I look forward to next year's and hopefully we will get our food from the Galley again!! read more

Generous portions and reasonably priced. One of the few places open in January. Good local seafood, really good specials.

In an area where lots of restaurants are closed for during the week, we were delighted to stumble upon The Galley for lunch. The steamed shrimp and fried shrimp were excellent and the sides (Cole slaw, macaroni salad, onion rings and butter beans) were super fresh and well prepared. I am rating on a severe curve. I only give them a 1 because of the servers. The food is worse than school lunch. The special was spaghetti and meatballs over linguine. That alone should have been a clue. The meatballs were so over cooked they were burned an rock hard. The "sauce" looked like they opened a can of diced tomatoes and called it a day. It was so bad I had to say something. As I said, the wait staff was great. As a replacement, ordered grilled rockfish. It was so over cooked it was like rubber bands and smelled like rotten fish. Staff not friendly and food disappointing. The fish and chips used to be good before Covid19. We ordered fish and chips and got fish sticks and fries that taste like onion. I asked the waitress and she said the onion rings are fried in the same oil as the French fries. Yuck! read more

We go here almost every Thursday for taco night. The shrimp and fish tacos are really good! My husband gets the steak tacos too. We get to-go because they're always slammed packed and it's a very small restaurant. We recently tried breakfast eat in and it was delicious and filling. Four stars because in our opinion the regular dinner such as seafood and steak was overpriced for the portion and a bit bland. read more

Mediocre food, terrible dessert but great service. Drinks were constantly refilled, food was brought out quickly, the servers really move to take care of everyone. That said... fried food was mediocre - hush puppies were good and fries are good. Fish and chips was just ok. Oysters and crab cake just ok. We had a chocolate lava cake which was terrible. Went in at 5:15 and was served at 6:45. Waitress forgot to put in order snd lied about it and gave all kinds of excuses. From bar too busy to cooks are slow. I had a terrible experience when my friends and I went for a late lunch on Saturday. I completely understand being busy on a holiday weekend and wanting to take a break between lunch and dinner shifts. Unfortunately we weren't told about this break until after we ordered our food. Our waitress was very abrupt, rude and delivered our food with a sourpuss look on her face. She acted like we were huge inconvenience. When another friend arrived later we had already warned her that she would not get any service after it was made clear that they were taking a break. The waitress did not even acknowledge her existence. I do want to thank the other waitress who came out and asked if she wanted or needed anything! read more

We had a party of 14 and walked in as the power was coming back on after a wide spread outage so their computers were not up and running. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. They said there would be a slight delay getting our food because of the computers but if there was, we didn't notice. Everyone enjoyed their food and the staff was very attentive and friendly. 2 of us ordered margaritas and thought they were made without tequila so we chugged them.... We were wrong... The Galley is Deltaville- not fancy, so should you enjoy haute cuisine, deconstruction or anything precious- drive on. If you want simple fare- a bring the kids and grands kind of place, this is for you. The fried flounder is really good and tastes fresh. I was out of town and my daughter and I were looking for a quaint restaurant with good food in the area. The Galley was recommended to us by one of the locals. We walked into a door that the was the smoking room so unfortunately for me that was an immediate turn off. We were escorted to a non-smoking section... I ordered the fried oysters as I don't get them very often... they were average with a little too much breading. The side dish was cucumbers and tomatoes (very small portion size.) The hush puppies were the best part of my meal. My daughter ordered the club sandwich which she thought was very GOOD! Overall, an average place to eat. New owners reopened the restaurant during the summer of 2017. First time in since it reopened. Won't be back. The place had 1 table occupied at 6:30 at night when we arrived-this should have been a tip off. The crab and lobster bisque was good but I judge based on the overall experience. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs. They were able to figure a way to overcook one side of the ribs (to the point that they were dry) and totally under cook the other (almost red pork). The side of fries was cold as were the apples. That combined with the cost of the food made the experience less than memorable. Seems that they made up the prices of ber as they went. The menu indicated one thing, the server told me something else, and the bill reflected still a different price. It was not worth quibbling about but still....... My wife ordered the oysters and had a side of a sweet potato. The potato was not cooked and it was actually almost cold to the touch. She decided to just take it home and zap it in the microwave. read more
