That's another story, a fail to say the least. I searched for a repair shop and came across MRO and boy am I glad I did! I was very skeptical and weary about someone possibly trying to take advantage of me (money wise). Mike was very friendly, patient, likeable and even more knowledgeable and helpful. He took a look at my laptop and we discussed and laughed at my subpar repair attempt. Within minutes of turning it on he was able to tell me exactly what was wrong and why. He answered my many many questions and was very detailed about everything he wanted to do to fix my laptop. He advised me about what I should do based on what I'd be using the computer for. So many things wrong with my laptop I thought I'd have to just get a new one. It wouldn't hold a charge, touch pad stopped working, slow, s l o w, SLOW!!!! No antivirus protection anything. Whew. I picked my laptop up a few days later and I lie to you not, IT'S FASTER AND BETTER THAN THE DAY I BOUGHT IT!!! I couldn't believe it! I told him exactly what the issue was, to bypass the bit locker. He didn't need to diagnose it. I was told the repairs would take a week. One week passes, I get no call or update. I called and was told that it was a lot of work and he needs another week. Another week passes, I hear absolutely nothing, no follow-up call from the company. I called 2x more and was THEN told that they are really busy and backed up and needed another week. Another week....is all I could get from him as an update. Its been 1 month and a full week and he still never fixed it, nor did he ever call me to provide an update. I finally had had it and went to pick up my laptop and not use his business. He had taken some time to even locate my laptop when we asked for it back. I should have been more aware when I came there, as the store is literally stuffed from front door to the back and ceiling with electronics, in disarray and barely any space to walk in there. I should have been told at drop off how backed up they were, that it would take a while to even get to my laptop from the start. Had I known that, I never would have left it there to begin with. They also refused to give my $40.00 deposit back. Im guessing they need it more than I do. I do not, recommend this business at all. DX = fried motherboard. All hope lost. But, when I asked the fee, they said ZERO dollars. No charge for their time. Then, they kindly pointed me to swappa.com for used iPhones. A perfect event would have included repaired iPhone, but darn, this was "near" perfect. Great folks. And I got to meet Fenway, their little Boston Terrier. (No question here about fan.)

If it's going to take 10 days - that's fine - but I need to know that upfront. My biggest problem was really the lack of communication. After dropping my machine off, I called the provider 4 days later to ask when I could expect the machine to be ready, and at that point they asked for permission to repair it. ??!! Isn't permission implied when you drop it off? Or shouldn't you have called me sooner if you needed permission? I was told it would be ready latest 2-3 days. 6 days later I hadn't heard from them still - I called back and it was then that they said they had received a bad part from Apple and had to reorder it. Later that day they called to tell me I could pick it up. If I had another option to take my Mac to for a certified repair, I would go somewhere else.
