I recently stopped by OfficeMax, located on Greenbrier Parkway in the heart of Chesapeake, to pick up some supplies for my Home Office. They have a great selection of products available. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the big box stores but it is getting increasingly difficult to find local stores that sell products for the Home Office. Given the wide variety of products and the customer service that I received, I'm rounding up from a 3.5 to a 4 Star. read more

If I could put 0 I would. I tried to order wedding invitations here because needed some last minute. It was August 8th. There was one lady ( had black curly hair in two buns) and no other customers when we showed up. She had a little attitude right away for no reason. We explained clearly what we wanted. We kept sending her the right design on canva and she would print an example out wrong and kept doing that. Her attitude increased as time went on even though we were extremely patient. She kept either printing the color wrong or on the wrong paper or wrong size. She would ask us to check what we sent and every time we sent her the exact right thing so it was on her end that she was printing it out wrong. While we were there like 10 people showed up mostly just to use the "print ur own" computers. She left while helping us for a total of about 20 min. To go help customers that showed up after us. Which is fine but then after she sort of blamed us for it taking so long when it was only taking long cuz she kept printing things out wrong and then leaving us for long periods of time. She rushed us SO MUCH and kept on saying u need to pay now or leave and just told us "she would fix the final draft" without showing us an example first. Which I was scared about because she had already done it wrong a bunch of times on her part. But she refused to show us another one and just said we had to pay or go away. This was for 150 invitations so yeah I wanted to make sure they were exactly right before they printed them all but I decided to trust her word that she would print them out right. LOL she did not. We come in ( August 10) and the back and front symbols on the invitation were completely different colors. Which in the one we sent they were the same so they should have come out the same. She clearly did something wrong. The manager there ( some large guy bald I think with glasses) first was defending her saying they only print what we send but then funny enough he printed it out and the color was the same on front and back and so it was clearly her wrongdoing. He was nicer and gave us a refund but He never even said "sorry" . All he would say is that there must of been a loss in communication. But never a sorry. And trust me we communicated our design and sent over the right design more times then we should have had too. The girl was soooo annoying to deal with. Also she kept saying they would be done at a certain time and then delaying it. Which would be fine if she didn't have an attitude on the phone when saying it. Like girl if you are mad about being the only worker maybe be mad at your manager not us. She was obviously understaffed but she had over a day to do them and if it wasn't possible she could have just told us that the day of and we would have gone somewhere else. They need to hire more people and people with better attitudes. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR PRINTS! read more

It might be best to avoid this OfficeMax if you need to use FEDEX. I waited for the sole customer representative to accept my box, and it seemed like she was not interested in being there. There was no urgency or motivation. While she was assisting another customer with a link at the counter, she answered each question from the person in front of me without acknowledging them and then returned to her own tasks, this kept going on and on extending the conversation without concern. After waiting 10 minutes for a transaction that could have taken 2 minutes, I decided to leave and go to a nearby FEDEX, where there were at least three representatives ready to assist. read more

It feels harsh because I was first not given proper help a customer expects from an establishment in a Virginia Beach location. I noticed the worked had recently dealt with a rude client so I let it go. I decided to head to work and stop by a different location but apart from patiently waiting in line I was then instructed to go do it myself at a printer where I struggled for over 10 minutes. what is the point of coming here if I'm not being helped read more

This Office max is not really stocked and it seems like that's there usual thing. I've come in here maybe 3 times in the course of a month and there's never anything I need or there always out of what I need. Depending on what employee you run into, The employees are also not willingly to help or check in the back for out of stock products On this particular day. I found an employee that was willing to check which was great but unfortunately what I needed was still out. From now on, I will order online instead of continuously waste my time coming to the store. read more

This is a go to for my office needs. Recently I used them for print services of invitations. Took less than 25 min just had to send the email explain what I wanted and David had it printed and ready to go as I was checking out. Love their Tul products as well. They always have coupons and offer military discounts read more

The printing department has excellent employees. The women who helped me out was kind , hard working and organized. Had a great experience.

In the beginning I enjoyed the customization of the Tul Discbound notebooks. I ordered the letter size and had it customized with my initials. I attempted to order junior size in 2023 but Tul or OfficeMax no longer offers the customization. I attempted multiple times to contact Customer Service and apparently it's a service that is no longer accepted unless you have a business account and or you are doing a bulk purchase. Very frustrating since I use one for my civilian and the other for my reserves. The one for my reserves I am forced to put a sticky label so I don't lose it. My opinion it cheapens the product since it's a leather cover. Please bring the customization back. read more

All I will say is that you know who the managers are in every store because theyre the only ones who 95% of the time will greet customers, and engage with them. I went in to use the self service copy machine, and when I went to print the machine was out of paper. I went to the counter and the kid (with the big diamond earring in his ear) definitely looked at me and then went back to staring at the machine behind the counter pretending I wasn't standing there while waiting for the item to come out of the printer he was looking at. He didnt say one word to me and I have my own feelings as to why. I took that as a GFY and decided to take paper out of one of the other machines. Shortly there after another machine also ran out of paper. I told the gentleman using it that he would get no help from the kid behind the counter, and he didn't. The other gentleman had to walk to get someone else (the manager) who easily got a ream of paper from behind the counter and filled the machine. I already know nothing will ever happen, and customer service will continue to be poor EVERYWHERE and this is just what we let happen. I haven't been to an Office Max in 10 years, I guess I wasn't missing out. read more

We came here on a Saturday morning for Tax Free Weekend to purchase all our son's school supplies. I am absolutely impressed!! There were hardly any customers inside. They had everything every Chesapeake Public School had on their school supply list. They also had many choices to choose from from scissors, to binders, to pencil boxes, to book bags. They prices were very reasonable as well; and that's not even the taxes we "don't" have to pay this weekend. I've always shopped at Target for school supplies. That will end. I will exclusively go to Office Depot from here on out for school supplies. Oh, and the lady at the counter was VERY friendly. I do want to point out my confusion as to why it is called Office Depot here on Yelp, when the sign on the front of the store says Office Max. read more

Here is the dilemma: Busy Saturday. Crowded store. Desperately need ink toner cartridges for the office. I am 5'2" and I left my 6 foot husband at home. The cartridges are all located on the highest shelf that I cannot reach. After circling the store twice trying to get help, I attempted to ask a cashier who told me to wait in line for my turn - it was just a quick question!! So the dilemma. Do I order on Amazon and hope no one prints anything in the next 24 - 48 hours? Or, do I grab an office chair, carry it over and help myself. I helped myself. And then will preorder from Amazon here on out. read more

This review is in regards to office max is printed, copy, and shipping services. We have used OfficeMax regularly in the last year. Our printer broke down last Spring and in an effort to reduce paper waste in our house, we decided not to buy a new one and just print and pick up documents if we absolutely need them printed... this has worked out pretty good when I submit documents online and pick up in store. However, if you go in the store to make copies, scan, or process an order in person, be prepared for an excessive weight time. At least one of their machines is always down and there's a 50/50 chance that you'll get an employee that is disgruntled. A while back, took a couple of photographs in to have them laminated for my toddler. Her father is on deployment and I want to her to be able to carry photos of him around without destroying the photographs or having her carry a glass frame. I first had them printed elsewhere then brought them over to Office Depot... They laminated all of my photographs and they were covered in air bubbles... I was a little frustrated and asked her if there was a way to fix it... The employee rolled her eyes at me and told me that "that's just the way photos come out when you laminate them." ...having had photos laminated before, I know this is not true. Now... This morning, I came in so that I could scan and then copy a lease for our new tenants... One of the machines was down and there was a line 3 people deep. After I finally made it through the line, I hopped over to mail the copy of the lease at their shipping station... Their employees- who are in spread entirely too thin -have to back-and-forth and when we got to the final step told me that the address I have is no good. She told me she can see the address in the system, it looks valid, but her system won't let her ship to that address. She told me I would need to use FedEx instead of the Postal Service and that would cost $27 instead of $8. Having sent mail to this address before, I knew there was no problem with it... I decided to save my money, since I couldn't get my time back, and will just make an extra trip to the post office today. Unfortunately, this is the only location within a reasonable distance of our home so we don't have much choice, but it's definitely frustrating. read more

I took three posters to get laminated, one of them being a poster I bought in Paris while at Moulin Rouge. The guy working at the printing center- nametag is Scott had me fill a form that they aren't liable if my items get damaged, I signed, walked away for a few minutes, I came back and low and behold my moulin rouge poster had folds on it, ruined forever. Scott did not even apologize AT ALL and waited for me to say something before acknowledging it. He didn't charge me for the damaged one-rightfully so. I know they're not liable but BE CAREFUL with peoples things! No one laminates something unless they are trying to protect it. Lack of response from him really ticked me off. Worst officemax. Photocopiers are broken, store disorganized, staff are non efficient. Officemax is losing money here. Its like DMV JUNIOR. See it for yourself. read more

I came to this location last week with a 20% coupon for printing services and it was applied with no problem. Today I returned with another print job of only 25 brochures. I had the same coupon that I used last week (which was still good), and was informed I could not use it because it did not have a barcode on it. The young man that was attending me asked the "boss" how he could enter the coupon ... the boss said he could not do it without the barcode. We all know it could have been done, Sir. This was terrible customer service and a terrible example to your subordinates. Next time I will give my money to someone who cares. read more

Came in to OfficeMax in a hurry. We didn't even have to search for help like most places. Sam was extremely helpful and pointed us to every item that we needed and also made great recommendations! He made this trip convenient and quick! Will definitely be a loyal customer here because of the service I received. He even checked our items out at the register! All Star employee! Thanks again Sam! read more

I LOVE this Office Max! I only come here for the print services. I have a business and I come in about once a week. The guys at the print services know me by name and are so good to me! Romel, Chris, Geoffrey, and Fred are so awesome!!! They always get my prints done in a timely manner. Fred took care of some graphic designs today in a matter of 5 minutes which was incredible to me! He's so awesome. If you are getting prints, definitely come see the guys over here! read more

WORST customer service ever Absolutely no one on the floor to help me. I went to the service desk and asked for help and she gave me extreme attitude and didn't want to help me. I waited 5 minutes and she did nothing for me. I just went ahead and left. NEVER going back. read more

I went there to send a fed ex package. When I went to the desk no one was there, I waited about five mins before I caught the attention of a customer service rep. He told me he would be right with me..... Another five min later he came to me and ask what I needed! I told him I wanted to send of a package do you have any bubble wrap and tape. He told me I had to buy the bubble wrap(18.99) and buy the whole roll of tape.(5.45) I was shocked every time I go to a fed store or drop off they supplied the same stuff for 8.99! And the employee was just vacant like he didn't want to be there! So I left went down the street to another fed ex drop location . I was greeted soon as I walked in and they wrap and tape my box for 3.99! This fed ex location is giving fed ex a bad name read more

Organized store and very clean. Had the two items I needed. Friendly check out, albeit a bit slow but I think that had more to do with the customers than the staff. read more

I went into Office Max today looking for an item I have purchased from there previously. I couldn't locate it on its normal isle and sought out an associate for help. An associate saw me walking towards him and seemed to be evading my need for help. I said "Excuse me" at least three times before he gave me his attention, at which time I inquired about the item. Seeing I had already come from that isle he simply said, "Check isle four." I went back to double check without his assistance and reached to an upper shelf, hoping the item I needed might be up in a box overhead. He apparently saw this from across the way and came over to ask me what I was I doing and to inform me that those boxes were not for customers. He wasn't helpful in the least and what's worse, he had the audacity to try to scold me for looking in open boxes for the item that he couldn't be bothered to help me find. Absolutely lacking in customer service. read more
