    This was one of the first authentic ramen spots that came to hawaii after goma tei and it was a welcomed!! They used to be my favorite ramen spot but then a bunch more started coming (Wagaya, Noods, Onoya, Junpuu, ex.) but they still make an exceptional ramen. I usually go with the pork kakuni black tokotsu ramen add ajitama, the broth is rich and more on the thicker side but it is delicious!! Add the perfectly cooked soft boiled ajitama with the melt in your mouth kakuni, I could go for a bowl right now! One thing you must add is in the garlic shrimp bao bun, don't be discouraged by then, it's one of the best things your gonna put in your mouth here, they used a soft shelled shrimp that can be eaten WHOLE, topped with a great garlic sauce and perfectly complimented with a nice honey mustard sauce, it's a must get whenever you come here. Theyre also know for their tsukemen with is a dipping style noodles with a more concentrated broth which equally as delicious as any other ramen, just depending on what you're craving. This is a small shop located in a small building at the end of Pensacola street, there is very minimal parking so try to get there earlier, and try not to park across the street because they do tow. If you're craving ramen in the ala moana area, this is my highly recommended spot, give em a try.

    Tried the pork kakuni tsukemen and it totally hit the spot. The noodles had that perfect chewy texture and held up really well in the broth -- no sogginess even toward the end. The dipping broth was rich and savory with a deep pork flavor, but not overwhelmingly heavy or salty. The kakuni was the star though. Super tender, melt-in-your-mouth soft with just the right balance of fat and lean. It added so much depth to each bite when you dipped the noodles and grabbed a little piece of pork with it. Portion size was satisfying and everything tasted fresh and well thought out. Definitely a comforting, crave-worthy dish I'd come back for, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty but still refined.

    Menya is one of those places that never disappoints. The noodles are insanely fresh -- perfectly chewy and springy -- and the broth is rich, flavorful, and super comforting without being too heavy. You can tell everything's made with care. I got the Tonkotsu ramen and it was amazing -- deep pork flavor, silky texture, and just the right amount of saltiness. The tsukemen (dipping noodles) is also a must-try; that dipping broth is pure umami heaven. The shop itself is clean, modern, and has a chill vibe. The staff are always friendly and quick, even when it's busy (which it usually is -- definitely worth the wait though!). Portions are generous, prices are fair, and you leave feeling full and happy. Whether you're a ramen lover or just craving a comforting bowl of noodles, Menya is one of the best in Honolulu. Must-try: Tsukemen, Tonkotsu ramen, and their spicy miso if you like a little kick! Con: Parking is not the greatest for this restaurant. Only street parking is available so try to go during non popular hours.

    Checked this spot out and it was a little hidden gem. Came here for lunch with a friend and the ramen was delicious! I love gyoza and this hit the spot! It's a small little place, so seating can be tough if it's during lunch/dinner times. Parking is scarce, but there is parking right in front. Definitely plan to be back!

    My wife wanted to go Lin's Hawaiian Snack Shop to pick up some Lemond Peel. I wanted to have noodles for lunch. I told her let's try Menya Le Nood if we could find parking. Well, we lucked out. Hadicap street parking a few feet down from the restaurant. Menya is small restaurant with a Japanese flair. Metal stools and bench seating. It was comfortable enough for a short stay. Interesting was the kitchen which is four steps above the dining area. I had the Menya ramen with tonkasu broth. My wife had the standard ramen with shoyu broth combo. This included Three pieces of goyza. The goyza was not to my liking. The Menya had a good tasting broth. It had a perfect whole soft boiled egg and two thick slices of pork belly . The pork was tender and flavorful. The noodles were on the denser side and chewy. Our server was pleasant and courteous. Enjoy

    Whenever I'm craving cold noodle with hot dipping broth we head to this cute little restaurant called Menya on Pensacola. Parking is limited maybe about 5 stalls in front of the building. We usually go on a Sunday when they open so it's not peak time. Service is good and there's about 8 tables that can seat 4. My go to dish is tsukemen with spinach with goma or black tonkatsu dipping sauce chicken karaage combo. The takoyaki and gyoza is good too.

    This place looks like a little hole in the wall, street parking, might have to walk a couple of blocks but SO totally worth it. Four of us went and had different kinds of ramen which all had incredible broths, and also really delicious karaage chicken (spicy & not), yummy Ramune drinks, & huge pork bao buns. Everything was so good we wanted to return the next day and have more.

    Menya le Nood is a cozy little hole-in-the-wall type of joint that serves a no-nonsense, straight-up bowl of Japanese comfort food. After an event we attended fell through, my husband and I were hungry. It was easy for us to stop off at this little shop by bus on the way back to our hotel accommodations in Waikīkī. Being from California, I'm used to flashier ramen chain restaurants that offer more fusion-forward options. While those types of ramen restaurants are good, Menya le Nood is even better in my book because it tastes home-cooked with love for the craft in spades. I opted for the Standard Ramen (includes chasiu, bamboo shoots, green onion, and a shoyu egg) with Black Tonkotsu broth (nice and garlicky). My first taste of the broth proved a rich, velvety body with a deep, yet clean, umami flavor. The fresh, bouncy noodles were perfectly cooked, bringing it all together for a solidly delicious bowl of ramen. I haven't yet been to try ramen in Japan, but something tells me that this bowl is pretty darn close. I have to hand it to the staff, too, for making us feel welcome even though we crashed into the shop close to closing. We just barely made the cut for last call... and I'm glad we did! Service wrapped up with a handy little punch card letting us know that if we purchase 10 orders of ramen or tsukemen over the next year, we will get one order free. I probably won't be back in Honolulu in time to use it, but if I was local to O'ahu, I know I'd be a regular at this spot.

    After a night of YouTube and Anthony Bourdain, I had to get some tsukemen. This was the first place I got introduced to it. I never got to try getting the "real thing" in Japan but it matches up real nice to what I saw. Thick noodles with a chewy bite. Real rich and hearty flavored dipping sauce. The thick and rich roasted pork belly really added to the enjoyment. It wasn't real busy on a Tuesday lunchtime so I wasn't worried about taking the time to enjoy the food.

    Haven't had sesame flavored tsukemen before but it was quite good and i appreciate how wel the flavor is infused i to the broth. Menya le nood is a great option for hot days when you need something thats not gonna make you overheat. I would say its got a decent portion size tho feels smaller than the average ramen shop. It does have one of my favorite flavors which i mentioned above, so i do still come by here from time to time!

    Menya le Nood was recommended to me by multiple people as one of the best ramen restaurants on the island and it did not disappoint! We went around 5:30pm and we got seated immediately. Parking: There is pretty limited parking in front of the restaurant itself and it's 1hr parking only before 6pm so do keep this in mind! Ambiance: The restaurant was really nice and cozy, pretty much the vibe that most ramen restaurants emanate. It's a pretty small shop so make sure to call ahead of time to reserve a table or to check the wait time. Service: Service was solid! The server took our order promptly and the food came out relatively quick as well! Our waters were constantly being refilled which is always appreciated. Food: The food was delicious! We ordered their spicy chicken karaage as an appetizer and it was well battered and juicy. I got their Menya tsukemen with the black tonkatsu broth. I've never had tsukemen before but the noodles to dip in the broth were thicker than the ramen noodles (my friend got the ramen) which I throughly enjoyed. The broth was very flavorful as well. I will say I am a huge ajitama lover (hence why I ordered two extra for my tsukemen) and their ajitama is not as umami as some others that I've had before. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and I will for sure be returning here if I ever want some ramen or tsukemen!

    Great experience! We went on a Thursday around 5:30 PM and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Parking is a little tough because it's located on a busy street with limited street parking. Onto the food, our order came out quick. The Spicy Chicken Karaage was delicious! The batter was crispy and well-seasoned, but I wish it was a little spicier. The Menya Tsukemen with Black Tonkotsu broth was also delicious! I love the thicker noodles and kakuni pork! Everything is a little salty, so I think adding spinach or some vegetable with this would be good. The restaurant was a little small, so I recommend making a reservation or coming early.

    I finally made it to Menya Le Nood at Ward last weekend and it was so good! We got the menya ramen and tsukemen to try both styles. The regular ramen had this rich broth that you could tell had been cooking forever. The noodles were chewy and the chashu pork was amazing - really thick slices that stayed super tender and juicy. I was honestly surprised they weren't dry at all given how thick they were cut. The tsukemen was really flavorful too, but I actually preferred the regular ramen. The dipping style was fun to try, but the noodles felt a bit cold compared to the hot broth experience of the regular ramen. I guess I'm just more of a traditional hot bowl person. The concentrated dipping broth was flavorful though, and it had the same amazing thick pork slices. What really made the night though was the service. Our two servers were so attentive and when I mentioned loving the spice, they actually gave me some of their homemade spice blend to take home! That was such a nice touch. The place has a cool modern/traditional hybrid feel, way different from your typical ramen spot. Ward Center restaurants can be hit or miss but this one's definitely a keeper.     How does their check in work for dining in? We tried to go but no employee was in the front for greeting, people were waiting outside scattered in the front, and the sign said "Please wait to be seated".

    I normally ask the other patrons outside if they've already signed in or not. After confirming I go inside and sign in before waiting outside again 😉

    Why the name change?

    They dropped the name because they didn't want to keep paying Musashi for the use of their name. They became an independent franchise.

    When did you call? They don’t open all day so you need to call between 11am and 2:30 and then after 5pm. Idk if they open this Monday, Memorial Day.

My daughter and I like to order the Shiro Wagaya Ramen and my husband loves the Garlic Wagaya (Kuro) ramen. We also like to order the corn tempura as an appetizer. The restaurant itself is not so big but fits quite a good amount of people. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. You can also order your food through a QR code and pay online when you're done. There are also restrooms onsite. Parking is still small and can fill up when it's busy (you also aren't allowed to park in the Church parking lot) If you haven't eaten here before, I would suggest looking on their website at the waitlist to see how many people are on there prior to going there as they can get really busy. You can also put your name on the waitlist online so you don't have to do it on site. They have a really good text messaging system letting you know when your table is almost ready.

Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can.     This has been one of our favorite places to grab a pre-movie night bite at Ward for years. Anticipating that they would be closing in a couple of weeks, we made sure to stop by this weekend to get our fix in. I was so eager to dig into my bowl that I ended up forgetting to snap a picture until after I'd already whacked away at it. Luckily, our server tonight told us that there's a good chance that they will be re-opening nearby in the old Scratch Kitchen location, so hopefully we can continue to enjoy this place in a different setting. My go to has always been their Beefy Wild Ramen. If I'm really hungry I'll opt for their Beefy Wild Beast when I want a pile of their awesome cha siu. My girlfriend likes both the Yuzu and Seabura. We both really enjoy their regular and spicy gyoza. There's always a short wait to get into this place, but it's worth it. Service is quick and efficient, and the food is excellent. I hope to see this place again soon, in a new location.

I thought it would be just Ward Warehouse but now Ward Centre. Now I'm wondering about the Ward Theatre area. Some have found new locations but I'm not too sure about Kamitoku Ramen. I remembered they were selling from their food truck and one time offered their ramen for $5? When they opened their restaurant at Ward Centre, a bunch of us got in for the $8 ramen with a can of soda. They are always busy so I did order take out one time. I was more interested in the appetizers! Crispy beef gyoza, taro tempura and even garlic tempura. They have tofu prepared in different ways. I still haven't tried their Beefy King ramen with all the items on top! I did try their beefy seabura. I want to try here again especially the appetizers before they close this month.

With this much food, your entire party could share a full meal and still be satisfied with the diverse menu options that are offered. Located on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, along the busy corridor of Kalakaua Avenue, this is the second stateside location of TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie after successfully opening in the heart of New York City. Originally founded in Osaka, Japan, TsuruTonTan specializes in authentic handmade udon, where the noodles themselves take center stage. Their goal is to have each bowl thoughtfully crafted and topped with a wide variety of ingredients, from aromatic bonito flakes and savory kombu kelp to locally sourced vegetables and meats, all carefully selected to complement the restaurant's high-quality noodles. The name TsuruTonTan draws inspiration from the sounds associated with the art of udon making. In Japanese, "Tsuru" represents the sound of slurping noodles, "Ton" evokes the kneading and shaping of the dough, and "Tan" signifies the cutting of the noodles. Together, these three sounds embody the spirit of TsuruTonTan and its dedication to the craft of handmade udon. What drew me into this location, with plenty of options surrounding them was TsuruTonTan's Special Dinner Set, which for a reasonable $38 diners would received no fewer than six menu items starting with their house salad which was fresh arugula lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and a vinaigrette and a small sampling of their Edamame. You also get a choice of Appetizer between chicken, tofu and shrimp tempura, of which I selected their Chicken Karaage. Then for your entrée, diners have the choice between six udons to select from, from your traditional soup based udons to one that particularly stood out to me, their Truffle Cream Udon, so I knew that I was going to order this menu item. As if that wasn't enough food, diners get to order one sushi roll that they handcraft here at TsuruTonTan and I selected their Sunfire Roll, which had a shrimp tempura mixed with cucumber, avocado and topped with spicy tuna. And then, for your final course, diners get to enjoy a scoop of ice cream, of which on this day our only option was rainbow sherbet. The first four courses to be presented to my table were the salad, edamame, Chicken Karaage, and my four slices of the Sunfire Roll. These four entrées probably would have been enough food and I would have been satisfied with my meal overall. The Chicken Karaage were five deep-fried nugget pieces served with lemon and piping hot upon served and the Sunfire Roll was a nice combination of sushi roll flavors. Then came my Truffle Cream Udon, which was topped with balls of crab meat, sliced truffle mushrooms, and shaved parmesan cheese. Creamy and cheesy goodness, this entrée was a hearty and heavy dish that combined the flavors of both Japan and Italy thanks to the heartiness of the udon noodles. The ice cream scoop was a nice touch to end what was already a filling meal. I really enjoyed my meal at TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie with so many menu items to choose from it seems overwhelming. Thankfully they have a number of popular and recommended menu items that any visitor looking for a good meal can choose from. The $38 dinner set created specifically for Hawaii diners, which includes a spicy udon soup and a garlic shrimp rice dish, has already piqued my interest and given me a reason to return. And return I will, as long as the service, prices, and food remain as consistently strong as they are at TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie. Offering elevated comfort food that seamlessly bridges cultures and culinary traditions, it stands out as a unique dining destination well worth revisiting.
