Remy of MendItNow after a long day!

I don't normally write reviews beyond giving stars, but this is the exception, because I have found a handyman service that is exceptional. I have now used Mend It Now Handyman five times (and counting) for almost every kind of thing you can think of: putting furniture together; various plumbing installs and fixes; cement patching; wood gate repair; wood deck repair; closet door repairs; and even moving boxes from 3 different levels into a U-Haul for me! There seems to be nothing they can't do! What I love about this company: They are local. Their pricing is beyond reasonable. If you don't like the work, they will fix it until you do. And most important to me: They are problem solvers and think outside the box. Rather than ripping something out and starting over with a hefty price tag, like a contractor, they can figure out good repairs and work arounds for previous contractors' bad installs and shoddy work. In my case, I have an old DC row house that was a quick flip 20 years ago. The work was subpar, at best. And we have spent too much money fixing some of the more egregious errors over the years. We needed some low cost fixes, that normally would have been easy and even something I could DIY. But because of the awful plumbing and cabinet installations, for example, I needed help. And after years of hiring HORRIBLE handymen that didn't do the job and then ghosted me after, I finally found one that I will use forever. And it is such a relief! I personally know how hard it is to find a good handyman, after nearly 20 years of horrible ones. So MendItNow is a game changer for me. And all of my neighbors. I give 10 gold stars to this company, the management, and to my personal favorite handyman, Remy. I trust them with my home, my keys, and all my home repair services! Sara Chauhan Washington, DC

Philip's Design - Custom cut-to-length Curtain Rods and drapes close to ceiling. Customer wanted them just barely touching the floor.

I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.

As you can see, the kids broken a pane of glass on the window leading to the sunroom and Alex was able to replace it with a similar piece of glass without any issues. I feel like the photos speak for themselves in terms of what he can fix. He was very responsive via text and prompt with when he would arrive for taking measurements or for installing. We are a no shoes household and he noticed that right away on entry and took his shoes off so that he didn't step on our carpet with his shoes. I appreciate his attention to details like that and being respectful. The price was reasonable at 220 to repair this. There's no way I would have been able to get this done myself given the time it took. I will definitely be using Alex as my handyman from here on out.

They got back to me immediately which I really appreciated, and even after a problem getting to my house (unexpected road work in my neighborhood), we were able to communicate over text to get an estimate. In addition to the scheduled work, the guys took a look at a couple other issues I had to give me a professional opinion on options, and advised and gave me a quote for some other exterior siding/trim maintenance recommended. The work was reasonably priced and I really appreciated being able to get someone professional, reliable, and timely to get the work done. I would highly recommend them for any work you need done!

Save your money, your home, and your peace of mind and look elsewhere. Here is exactly what you can expect if you hire them: Incomplete Work: The job was abandoned before it was finished. The walls in my bathroom and laundry room are literally only half-painted. Property Damage & Sloppiness: The crew didn't even bother to use painter's tape. As a result, there is paint splattered all over my baseboards. Outrageous Behavior: I have security cameras inside and outside of my house. The footage clearly shows their crew drinking and smoking inside my home for the entire duration of the job. Zero Accountability: When I reached out to management with the camera footage to get this mess resolved, they refused to take any responsibility. Instead of apologizing or offering to fix the damage, they got "smart," dismissive, and incredibly rude. It is completely unacceptable to take someone's money, treat their home like a bar, ruin their baseboards, and then act incredibly unprofessional when confronted with video proof. Avoid this business at all costs.
