Reached out several times requesting an estimate, sent pictures of the work I needed done and he just, as the kids say, ghosted me. I first reach out on 3/11 and despite numerous attempts and voice mails I simply got no real response, just a generic, 'send me your address' or 'ill take a look'. At one point on the 19th he said he would stop by and take a look. Again, no response. And even if he's busy, which I get, it doesn't take much to communicate. Even if one can't or wont do a job, its easy to say so. Another contractor flat out told me they don't do small projects, an honest response i can respect. Clin and his crew are among the best two or three expenditures I've ever done for home services of any kind. We had a massive project for him - we had to refurbish a good deal of my mom's house last fall after she passed and we (kids) inherited her estate. It was in somewhat bad shape due to her age and inability to keep up on maintenance. This project involved much more than a simple house call - it was essentially an entire house upgrade. It involved almost everything you could think of with such a project - painting, light carpentry, flooring, light electrical, concrete restoration, drywall, even a bit of roof repair, etc. It was done over about 5 weekends, only(!!) 7-8 total days for all of it! I chose Clin mostly due to his prompt response and his interest in my project (he swung around after his normal hours to take a look at the house on his own time). Eventually, although he already had a lot of work on his calendar, we were able to work out a weekends deal over four weeks. It was amazing the amount of work he and his several crew were able to accomplish in only two days at a time! This project is too extensive to detail here, but I'll sum the experience up in a few points: First, Clin himself is very sharp, polite, and intuitive... he communicates very well with the customer and you get a sense of he really thinks about your project and takes pride in it. These guys are as far as you can get from "just do the work and get paid." They returned a few times on their own to make sure something was perfectly fixed. And it usually was. Second, Clin's crew themselves are all each incredibly skilled - any of them could lead a business themselves, but as this is part family and part friends, they work together, get along well, and are amazing in what each can do. One of his guys (brother-in-law I think) is one of the most skilled craftsman I've seen - he did a lot of roofing work, and identified a very difficult to spot roof problem that even a few roofers missed. His drywall work was excellent (see photos). Anyway, all of them were polite, great, down-to-earth, and very easy to talk to and work with. What a great crew! Third, I liked Clin's project/payment setup - he has an online service and you can pay electronically (cc or e-check). No writing archaic checks (although you can!). Clin is kind of a "new generation" of contractors, computer savvy and great at getting back to you quickly. Payments and communications were very easy with text, e-mail, and his payment system. Finally, these guys mentioned a number of times they take pride in their work and want to satisfy the customer. When there were snags (on a project this size there were bound to be), Clin and his guys went overboard, even if they had to drop off of other projects, to fix them. It was altogether a terrific experience. I would put Clin's service in about the midrange or a bit lower costwise... but he's about as inexpensive as you can get without resorting to fly-by-night shoddy workers, and there definitely are guys who charge a lot more. As I said, Clin is among the best 2 or 3 people I've ever contracted with, and I'm old enough to have done so with a lot of people! I cannot recommend him highly enough, whether it's a "quick fix" errand-type project or essentially a whole house refurbish. I am convinced that, although there are probably a few guys around the city who are just as good, Clin was by far the perfect choice for my project, and anyone else would at their best have done as well, but not better. I picked in my opinion the best crew in the D.C. area. See pictures of some of the aspects of their work. Clin picked up our specific paint we requested and he paint matched our living room color. The paint match looks perfect. And it was so nice that he picked up the paint for us.
