This is our second time here and the good quality of food has not changed. They served chips and salsa and we also ordered the guacamole. The guacamole was made fresh in front of us. I ordered the Carne Asada and the steak skirt was cooked to perfection. I ordered it medium rare and it was seasoned well. My husband ordered the chicken and beef fajitas and he loved it as well. I went to dinner here with some friends one Saturday night. The place was super busy and is quite small so we waited like 15 minutes before being sat. This place is located on the corner of one of the shopping strips inside the area. I had to park over by the movie theater and walk over as parking is limited in front of it and nearby. I use to frequent the Richardson location and loved their food. I ordered a Queso Bowl with Chorizo. This came out without chorizo but I was not charged for the chorizo so it was fine, $8.95. The queso was meh, lacking flavor, consistency was nice though. It really needed the chorizo that was missing for flavor. I got the Beef Fajita Quesadilla $16.50 with Pico in it for my meal. Their beef is always so good, tender and juicy. The portion is pretty large as well, you get 8 pieces in the order. They had a live musician which is a real nice touch ambiance wise. I never got our server's name but on my receipt it says Gerardo N. He needs to work on attentiveness to refills, there were multiple times that I would be completely empty on water and same for others at my table. This chain is always great for its beef products and if I was reviewing jsut the food I would do 4 minus the queso. This location though, the semi lackluster service and parking make me lower the stars to 3. I would not go out of my way to go back since it is not close to me. read more

My wife and I went on a Tuesday night, and it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately, and our waiter was attentive throughout. The chips and salsa were okay, though the hotter salsa was just spicy without much flavor. The regular margarita on the rocks was strong and enjoyable. We also had the frozen margarita flight (sangria swirl, passion fruit, pineapple, and strawberry), which was fun and refreshing. Stopped by at this scenic location for dinner on a Friday everning, a few weeks ago. I must say that the location is very central and easily accessible. The ambience was also great with live music and service was great! We ordered some brisket quesedillas, chicken enchilladas and a shrimp platter. After we waited 45 minutes (she stated a 30 minute wait when we arrived) she had no problem telling us it would be another 45 minutes. Meanwhile she seated multiple tables that arrived well after us. When questioned she could offer no explanation nor showed any concern for our situation. In fact she was outright rude. When you start to take customers for granted, you have a problem. This place is consistently good, both with the quality of the service and the food they put out. We have been here several times and are never disappointed. The restaurant is located in the fairly new Lakeside neighborhood of Flower Mound. As it is located close to apartments, condos, and family homes, it is usually filled up with locals and large groups of regulars. The employees here work hard but have had to cope with reduced staffing as in many places nowadays. This hasn't taken away from their energy or friendliness. They do the Latino community proud with their work ethic and undiminished resolve. For food - our go-to are the Al Pastor nachos. If you wonder how they look, please refer to the pics. Bottom line: Mena's added an additional $3.98 to my bill without authorization. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager, and was told that he was in a meeting. The chicken flautas, at $10(not bad at all) were very crunchy and super yum! Served with rice, beans, guacamole , and sour cream! I love that! I don't want to have to ask for sour cream or guacamole. We tried Mena's Tex-Mex grill after seeing a recommendation on an eater dallas article. The salsa and chips were fantastic. Additionally, the drinks (sangria & guava margarita) were excellent. If this rating was solely based off the drinks and chips and salsa, I would have given this restaurant a "4 star rating". Unfortunately, the chef's chicken tacos and the enchilada dinner fell short. The chef's tacos strictly had just meat in them and were a bit bland. The enchilada dinner was also okay, the queso was great but the chili con carne tasted a bit processed (tasted similar to hormel chili from the can). I will likely try this place again but will have to try different food items. read more

First off, every other restaurant could learn how to make chips from them. Every time I've been here, this chips are thin, crispy, and NOT OILY! The corn flavor is actually what you taste, not oil. Some people may not care about that, but it can make or break a restaurant for me because whether I'm there for brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner, or aperitifs, I'm gonna eat some of those hot chips they put in front of me. And don't even get me started on the salsa, it is fresh, flavorful and on point every time. If you can handle the heat, order some of the salsa verde, you won't be disappointed. The food is always good. Whether we order enchiladas, tacos, salads, or just apps and desserts, never been unhappy. The drinks are great also, but tequila at a work lunch doesn't always go over well. The staff is great and I can only remember one time of dozens that I haven't been pleased with the staff. The ambiance is good, and awesome they allow dogs on the patio. We order the Mena's plate and it was just perfect... the two beef tostadas with beef and the other 2 with beans were YUMMER's, the flauta's with cream & Guacamole were crunchy delicious, and the quesadillas were cheesee, and the Margaritas hit the spot! The guacamole appetizers: the only one that is truly worth it is the "large" table side guacamole, the others are premade, brought out in scoops, very bright in flavor because of the amount of lime juice they need to preserve the color. The summer fajitas are strange. I ordered them (steak version) thinking it would be light and "summery" with a few lightly breaded onion strings, but what was delivered was a mound of fried onions (tasty, but a LOT of them), about 4-6 small bits of steak around a smaller mound of Spanish rice all on a bed of queso? Not at all what I had in mind for Summer fajitas, and not much food (meat) for two people for 15.99, so if you order it, be prepared to make fajitas with onions and cheese! DRINKS (alcoholic): Flavored Margaritas: Tamarind frozen margarita: the best there is. This is the place for margaritas on a patio. The glass is lined with chili salt, it's reminiscent of being on the beaches in Mexico! Up next is the Guava. Then Peach. The strawberry is good and he standard "strawberry" margarita flavor. You CAN get their Sangria swirled into the margarita, that's good, but not as good as Anamia's version of the same thing (which means I'm sure they could improve the Sangria recipe!). I haven't had it, but sitting at the bar, I watched more than a dozen piña coladas go out! They use coconut creme (obviously in FloMo it's canned, but good quality), and pineapple juice - no bottled mixes - and they blend it fresh, so I imagine it's great! Decent selection of beers, but for beer drinkers, I imagine taking a walk down to The Tavern would prove a better drink experience. All in all, the food is quality, the drinks are top notch, and the service is typically excellent. So, a great find in Lakeside of Flower Mound! Great for date night or lunch! read more
